11-Year-Old Girl Among 40 People Shot In Chicago Over The Weekend

At least 40 people were shot during yet another violent weekend in Chicago and the family of one 11-year-old girl is left in mourning.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the bullet that killed 11-year-old Shamiya Adams crashed through the wall of the bedroom and struck her in the head. She was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where family kept an overnight vigil until the girl was pronounced dead at 7:33 a.m. on Saturday morning. She was apparently at a friends’ house for a sleepover when the tragedy occurred.

Age ranges for the other 39 injured during the deadly weekend were between 15 and 38, with four confirmed dead as of Monday morning.

We will continue to keep the residents of Chicago in our prayers as law enforcement search for a solution to seemingly endless summer violence.
