lil Al B.

Young Al. B Sure, Quincy “IQ” Brown,  is not happy with his dead beat dad and decided to take action by blogging and accompanying the piece with a song, A Letter to My Father, Al. B Sure:

A Letter To My Father

I’ve been inspired throughout my life by special circumstances and unique experiences.  Foremost, I grew up with a family that injected me with unconditional love and enduring confidence.  This is my foundation … the family holidays and celebrations with my maternal lineage … supportive smiles in audiences at school programs … guiding hands to complete homework and special projects in the wee hours of the morning.

However, I grew up without my father, an irreplaceable force and influence that was absent in my life. I watched other kids enjoy the embrace of theirs, and I searched for a way to reconcile the meaning of my circumstance.

Despite my pain, I’ve imagined a life as a good son with my father. Baseball …  Playing in School Band … Church … All of the things that he would expect his son to do, I’ve done.  I’ve stood in front of audiences to receive awards. I heard their applause and praise.  But, the accolades have been absent the sound of his clapping hands and encouraging words … his voice that I could distinguish in my sleep. Where has he been?

Now, I reflect on the journey, the pain, the challenges, and the triumphs through this song.  I’m reconciled as a man, no longer a boy, in verse.  Now, I know that I’m not alone.

Albert Brown, also known as “Al B Sure!” is my biological father, but Sean Combs, also known as “Diddy” has been a father figure in my life for as long as I can remember. Sean Combs is the person whom I look up to and appreciate as a father. He is the one who help mold me into the person I am today and will always try to live up to his expectations. He has always been supportive of me and I will forever love and respect him. As far as my biological father goes, the “spitting image” is all I have taken from him. Throughout my life, I’ve always wondered about him; Where he was? What was he doing? and most importantly, Was he even thinking about me? The absence of my father has given me a better understanding of what type of man I am going to be. I am grateful for my mom’s love, support, guidance, and for her strength.

To those who share my plight, know that you have a great future … a DESTINY.  Take the lemons that you are handed and make lemonade.  Your journey is in “A Letter To My Father.”

- Quincy “iQ” Brown

Damn! Well, we guess we can give the Coon of The Day award to Al. B, for not taking care of his responsibilities. Seems like Quincey is turning out to be a fine young man, despite. SMH.

  • http://www.bossip.com Sharna

good luck to him…the first step to solving a problem is recognizing it…he had a problem with no dad, so since he has recognized it, he can hopefully be a great dad when it’s his turn and make a career for himself AND HOPEFULLY DIDDY WILL NOT BE HIS MANAGER!!

  • Just Sayin

Why don’t shiddy share his pro-actin (or what ever dat ish is called) with dude.

Hi he get razor bumps on his forehead.

Dem is heat bumps on his forehead.

  • Shay

This boy poured his heart out over what so many of our young people are going through in the black community, absence of their fathers, and all you can focus on is the acne on his forehead? You’re trife. He seems to be an articulate, grounded young man who knows where he’s going despite his circumstance.

  • me (the original)

    A damn shame..

It’s good that he had a father in Puff. As far as Al B., that’s a damn shame. I wonder what his response is going to be to this? No matter what he does, it’s not going to make up for what he hasn’t done.

  • me (the original)

Yeah, he needs to talk to Jessica Simpson about Proactiv, that’s a damn shame on his forehead.

  • 5 ft. of madness

    He got a uni-brow

  • Sydney™

Wow. . .I thought Al B. had a closer relationship with his son. Sad. Boys (and girls) need their fathers.

    LOL @ Just Sayin

You know that was Christopher Williams (Al B’s twin) in New Jack City, right?

“Scotty Appleton: I wanna shoot you so bad, my d**k’s hard!”

I can see Ice-T saying that now! Oh, and Chris Rock had some classic one-liners, too (“it just keeps calling me”) and Vanessa Williams (not the Miss America/Soul Food one — “Rock-a-bye, baby”).

Quincy is the splitting image of his father — down to the unibrow.

  • 5 ft. of madness

What circumstance is he going thru? His biological daddy is a deadbeat, but Diddy has stepped in his words, and got his back. So I hardly think dis youngin here is suffering but so much, and he is gettin to pursue his dreams, based on dis wack azz track dat keep playin everytime ya click on dis post.

  • &hearts: PYNK ♥ NOTHING IS LIFE IS PERFECT

He looks just like his Daddy…

  • ThaFixer

It’s a damn shame when Diddy is a better father than you Al. Be a man and make a public overture to your child.

  • loveworker

oh wow! as much as i can’t stand diddy he’s doing right by this young man when his bio-father can’t be bothered. this song is good and his style is waaaayyy better than a lot of this crap we hear on the radio. too bad some of you mo fo’s can only be concerned with the temporary acne on this young man’s forehead.

  • GiGi

He’s a great writer, that’s for sure! I can appreciate the fact that he can string together a series of words into a sentence that portrays his thoughts and feelings without sounding like a damn idiot. Education is key, folks!

  • Reign

Yeah, it’s about time somebody busted the Black men that are abandoning their children. And who better to put them on blast then their off springs. I hope all of the children start putting these men on blast. It’s horrible how Black men walk off and leave their children. Other cultures of men do it too, but I’m not concerned about them, I’m concerned about our young Black boys and girls growing up without a father ushering them into adulthood. A lot of the problems within the Black community stems from the absence of the Black man. Any man could step in and be a role model, grandfathers, uncles, friends, etc. but no one rarely does, at least not on a grand scale the way it should be. There are PLENTY of single fathers who are doing the darn thing, but still there’s way too many young men and women without fathers. It’s really f’d up. I don’t care for Diddy, but if he stepped up, manned up and gave this young man the love, care, hugs, and guidance required to become a young man, I love him for that. Al B Sure, I don’t know what you’re going through, but nothing is bad enough to keep you from your son. Even if you and the mother didn’t get along. I know women can be extremely bitter and angry and make it impossible for a man to have a relationship with his children, but in those cases, you should take that foolishness to court. And women, get over your anger and bitterness and allow the men to be a part of their children’s lives. Some women are so busy being angry, that they don’t realize it’s not about them, it’s about insuring the children have a mother and father who loves them especially for our sons because they have a hard rode in this country.

    @me (the original)

Hi Miss Lady! I’m fine, how are you? :)

Quick piece of useless trivial — Diddy is the only man who did an ad for Proactiv, right? I remember that commercial he did with Vanessa Williams, I think. He talked about keeping his skin pretty and smooth, lol.

  • Tiffany2722

    @ Shay

Thank you Shay u said it!!! How ignorant we are that this child is pouring out his heart and all we can do is speak on his skin condition or what Diddy does in the bedroom.(we r sic ppl) My son is going thru this right now so I can relate ! I can only hope my son will be this mature when he gets to his age!

  • JUJU

@ Manhattan, I SAID THE SAME THING TO MYSELF-LOL

  • Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

Has his mother ever been married? What the hell was this woman thinking? She didnt learn after the first one. Stop popping out babies with men you arent married to. These kids neeed fathers so it makes sense to find one. And no that doesnt include some dude that visits on the weekend.

  • bored

So deep; but also true, not just for him a lot of our men feel this way!

Kim was in love with some Al B cause she gave her heart and her genes to this one here…

    @Reign,

Sorry dear but before you talking about Black men abadoning their father why not talk first about black females abadoning having kids in a marriage? You females need to stop making children so causally. Establish a home first then have children.

  • deaisia

why did he bring up Barack Obama? lol

Yes, he does have Diddy as a father figure But, I myself can attest that although I had a stepfather in my dad’s place, there is just something about the love of your real father, to this day, I love my real father more than anything although he wasnt there, so now when he shows up for Birthdays and Xmas with these awesome gifts (guess making up for lost time)..All i do is TAKE DAT TAKE DAT!!And say. Thats MY daddy.

  • Sydney™

    @Strange Program

You can put the song on mute if you don’t want it to hear it when you refresh.

I think Al Roker did a recent documentary on the importance of fatherhood, and it’s an issue that some prominent black men have addressed recently. Ed Gordon (he has a daughter), formerly of BET, has a site daddyspromise.com, which is directed towards fathers and their daughters. And I’ve heard of the “daddy hunger” that a number of fatherless kids feel. While Quincy was fortunate to have a prominent male figure in his life, a lot of kids don’t, and it can be very painful.

  • http://bossip MY BAAD

SMDH.. that letter is powerful. and hopefully it’ll help many thats living with that type sh!t.. AND whoeva mentioned the acne will no doubt have kids wit no dad or have no dad of their own. There’s nothing wrong with having a lil empathy.

  • Sydney™

    @me (the original)

Yeah, I saw footage of the Easter egg roll yesterday at the W.H., and the kids were adorable. :)

I remember that Diddy commercial, lol.

  • http://bossip MY BAAD

i saw a show on UNIVISION yesterday while flipping channels.. it was a show for dudes.. it showed them how to handle a baby and how to feed and all kinds of good tips.. let’s educate more and critize less. That letter articulates some vicious feelings. dont be on the recieving end.

  • http://bossip MY BAAD

    @ kigali

lol.. ur always on top of that sh!t !!!! i always tell my gf.. stop defending what u didnt know and what u thought u could do and take note of sum solutions. SMFH

  • STRANGE PROGRAM

@ Sydney Yes, yes mute has been utilized for dis dribble here. You like the song, seriously? Sydney, I can tell you a deep thinker, not that theres anything wrong wid dat.

AND whoeva mentioned the acne will no doubt have kids wit no dad or have no dad of their own

I dont know why females dont make the connection between the kinds of men they get pregnant by and the kind of father he may be. Female just set themselves up for failure. You want the best outcome, find the best man.

  • me (the original)

    @ Jai

I think Quincey is old enough to know (or would know) if something was going on to prevent his father from seeing him. He’s not a child anymore.

  • Sydney™

    @Strange Program

I had to put the song on mute, but, yes, I like that he was able to put some very painful emotions down on paper and set them to music. I think divulging feelings about situations that cause us pain is probably one of the hardest things a person will ever do. You can tell he put a lot of time and thought into his writing, and he’s clearly a young man with a lot of promise. He’s certainly not alone with what he’s been able to overcome, and I think his words will touch other kids in similar situations. It’s brave of him to open himself publicly like this, and very mature.

I think kids should express themselves in positive ways as much as possible, whether it’s through words, music, art, etc. In order to deal with pain, you have to air it.

That’s the problem with most of these black females today – THEY WANT BIGGIE OR TUPAC WITH A COLLEGE DEGREE, BUT IN REALITY, THAT’S AKIN TO TRYING TO FIND THE ELUSIVE DODO BIRD – IT DOESN’T EXIST!

  • CuteKandy

Awwww that’s cute its gd he spoke up bout it :)
i hope daddy takes an interest.

  • Brian

I think Diddy is reason behind Al B not coming around and so is the letter.

  • me

what a well written-insightful piece. amazingly enough, this is a testament to the parents that HAVE been in his life… i’m impressed. shocked, really. i thought kim and sean would f-up anyone they came cross.

  • Mrs. Rance

Wow. That’s horrible. I’m VERY disappointed in Al B. I guess he just a father on MySpace.

  • Sydney™

    @Strange Program

No offense, brother, but I don’t think the song was meant for you groove to, if you catch my drift. It’s for him to air out some emotions, and that doesn’t make him “soft” at all. It’s how you become stronger.

  • Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

    @pm,

Its why I feel very sorry for black females. I honestly believe they use these children they have in a last ditch effort to mean something to these men. They will never get a real commitment out of them so they settle for being the baby mama. I cant be his wife so I will be his baby mama. That must be so hurtful.

  • Sydney™

    *for you to groove to*

wishing dadlessness??? never!!.. i c u must b one of those aforementioned. either ur too young to understand this boys plight or u have bastard kids or u are one. simple as that. i get it. ur on joketime but this is a serious issue. show empathy for others or expect no empathy for urself and ur cause.

  • TygerBunny

how can some people be so damn stupid…this young man is dicussing the shame of most black fathers in this country….and some of you fools talking about acne…some black folks are so stupid..and yes i am black

  • MistaO

A whole lot of folks typing like they really know. However, as in most cases there are three sides to every story and I’m quite sure Al B. would have some interesting insights into the why and how of his childs story.

But he’s probably unlike many of these “celebrities” today and don’t want to out his momma like that.

This, as well as countless other stories today, highlights the fact that prior to making babies folks should be firmly into MARRIAGE! Not saying they all last, but on the whole, children born to married couples tend to do better in life and have better mental stability vs. single mother raised children.

At this point, the proof of this is undeniable…

  • http://bossip MY BAAD

ps.. i havent heard the song. but its all fun and jokes until u get ur song and letter for deadbeat dadness.

  • Ms. Davis

First of all, you should never put anything like that in writing. YOU CAN NEVER TAKE IT BACK. Sounds like this should have been a personal conversation he should have had instead of putting it out there for the world to see. I’m sure on day, he’ll regret it, especially the day his father dies (or the day Diddy dies) and he’s consoled by his bio-father. Anyways, there are 2 sides to every story, in Al B. Sure’s defense, I hope it wasn’t bitterness that lead Kim to keeping her son away from him. You never know.

  • STRANGE PROGRAM

@ Sydney Yeah aite, he not trying to maybe see how dis song goes over to da masses, to pave da road for other music ventures?? He only doin it to get out his true feelings and emotions…UMMM HMM if you say so. Have you ever been called shockingly naive?

a letter gives the boy time to collect his thoughts into an understandable format. to have a convo in person would be putting everyone on the spot. i think a letter not only gives the boy time to collect his thoughts but it will give al B time to collect his as well. Now AL B, should surely have the convo in person.

  • jakob

as a father of a 16 year old girl, there is nothing short of physical DEATH that would keep me from seeing her and being a part of her life..no matter who was in the way trying to prevent it, I would always make a way to talk or see her. I know mom’s can be stubborn and othet things at times, but the fact is even that could not stop me from being in her life..truly fellas, there are no EXCUSES aside from death, to not see and spend time with your child. when you do not, songs like the young man made to his father, will be made about you..

  • Sydney™

    @Strange Program

“Yeah aite, he not trying to maybe see how dis song goes over to da masses, to pave da road for other music ventures?? He only doin it to get out his true feelings and emotions…UMMM HMM if you say so.”

I’m saying that I think there’s a deeper meaning to the song, other than bringing people to the dance floor. It’s very personal.

“Have you ever been called shockingly naive?”

I’ve been called “sheltered” — Is that the same thing? :)

  • S&J

Wow, that letter touched me…esp. the last paragraph. I really understand where he is coming from since I didn’t have a father in my life, that messed me up in so many ways including my relationship with men. Anyways, thats beautiful how Diddy took him as his own and Diddy says he has six kids (counting Quincy) so atleast he had a father figure. Only thing I like about Diddy, hes seem like he is a great father.

  • MistaO

    @ Kigali

Yep it’s been said thousands of times by many “outside” groups (who of course quietly support non-marriage amongst Blacks) that the biggest impediment to Black people has been the aversion and marginalization of the institution of marriage.

Many have convinced themselves through self supporting rationalizations such as “I don’t need no man” and “Well I grew up without a Father so my kids won’t need me”, that living life in this manner is somehow acceptable.

It’s a very one sided outlook and is supported by the abysmal statictics that speak to the volumes of Black children being born into “families” without Fathers… Yet many STILL to this day belive this is somehow OK!

Many will point to the few examples of folks who came out of these environments and gained some measure of success, but contrast against the whole, these people are the exception and not the rule…

  • jb_1030 (Says what straight man wears gold sneakers? Ask Day 26!)

    @pm,

Its why I feel very sorry for black females. I honestly believe they use these children they have in a last ditch effort to mean something to these men. They will never get a real commitment out of them so they settle for being the baby mama. I cant be his wife so I will be his baby mama. That must be so hurtful.
    ***************************************************

So feeling sorry is equated to downgrading women. Do you ever, have you ever just went to a school or a community center or talk to your kids friends (I remember you saying you had kids and that your husband wouldn’t let them dress in skinny jeans) about having sex? Do you sit down with them and degrade women the way you do on here?

Also you knock Kim down for her choices, but I have not seen you say anything negatvie on here about Nicole Richie (two kids out of wedlock), or what about Solange who married her son’s father only to end in divorce, or better yet Madonna who is trying to adopt a child even though she is divorced mother with three kids who by the way had Lourdes out of wedlock? Or will you not say anything about them because they are: 1) White, 2) Have money, 3) Celebrities who have such good morales including premartial sex, drug use, just to name a few.

  • Carla

Well no Diddy isn’t the best role model but Quincy has been around him since he was probably a new born so Diddy is all he knows. And his mom Kim didn’t want to be lonely. Any way, just because Quincy looks like Al B. doesn’t mean that when he spawns kids they will look like Quincy those kids will looks just like those fast little heifers a xerox copy, lol…

  • jb_1030 (Says what straight man wears gold sneakers? Ask Day 26!)

Oh I forgor one thing to go with what I said earlier. Kim has stayed with Diddy throughout everything. And She is just as wealthy as any celebrity thanks in part to the child support that diddy is paying her for her kids.

And when youa re gettingon her, get on Diddy himself for making babies with Mika, Misha what ever her name is, Kim and the secret baby Chance that is no longer a secret. Tell men to stop playing games like Jody and grow the hell up. If you want no babies, wear a rubber.

@ Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers) – I agree with you. It does take two to make a baby, but this IS the womans body and they are going to be the ones carrying it. They need to be more responsible about who they lay with.

Additionally, I can’t remember who made the comment earlier about it being mean calling kids bastards out of wedlock but the simple fact is it’s the TRUTH. Back in the day, it was shameful to have a kid in those conditions and that’s what we as African Americans have gotten away from. I’m not standing on my soapbox like I have always been safe etc. because I haven’t. I have been blessed to not have any kids out of wedlock, but the fact is I would have wanted to get married. We really as a people need to get back to where we were and a lot of black women really need to focus on the partners they select, due to the sad but true fact they are the ones carrying it and if things don’t work out, possibly be stuck alone…..

  • Fierce Kitty

    @ Kigali

“Sorry dear but before you talking about Black men abadoning their father why not talk first about black females abadoning having kids in a marriage? You females need to stop making children so causally. Establish a home first then have children.”

No, let’s talk about these no good fathers FIRST. And just so you know, MEN (BLACK and WHITE) can abandon their kids while they’re married. Like someone said before, it takes TWO to make a child. Barack’s no good dad left his mom and Al B Sure did the same. The women (BLACK and WHITE) always put their kids first and take care of them. It is not the woman’s fault (BLACK or WHITE) that the man doesn’t want to support the child physically, financial, emotionally. That’s no excuse. That’s ignorance.

And just because you are married, does not mean the kid will grow up in a happy home. Look at all the white people you worship that have kids outside of marriage: Bridget Moynahan, Madonna, Bristol Palin, and more.

Kigali, no matter how hard you try and fight on this subject, you will not win. The devil never wins. Read the Bible.

  • Scott

I asked my father once why he was never in my life and he just said that “it was just easier that way”. Less hassle, less stress and less guilt. It was a upsetting to hassle with my mother and his wife. It was stressful traveling a long way to see me for a short time and it always made him feel guilty. It was just easier to leave well enough alone.

So when my father died, my stepbrothers and sister called me and asked if I would come to the funeral. I told them “no” because “it was easier that way…..less hassle, less stress and less guilt. It was just easier to leave well enough alone.

Finally, I understood that I was not worth the trouble and neither was he.

  • GIVEDADDYSOMESUGAR

Wasn’t he just on that show last year where the children of famous parents showcased their singing skills? His dad critiqued his performance and seemed supportive. Who knew? This is really sad because although he grew up in material comfort, he wanted his biological father’s involvement in his life. He seems grounded and intelligent and not bitter.

I have said the same things. Even listed Anjelina Jolie and Halle Berry. It seems like when you come at her (she said she had kids, unless he is gay) correct and giving them the information but with white women or rich women they never come back. Or say it is bette to have money and be a single parent than to be black and poor. But aren’t valuse and morales the same across the board. I don’t get this person. I wonder if they are that preacher’s wife who admonishes everyone while her husband is getting it on witht he church secretary or with the Minister of Music.

    @Scott ..damn

  • Scott

Sometimes, it’s painful for children to accept that their parents have failings or weaknesses. So how ever much you would like to, you can’t change their behavior or their feelings.

Every person usually makes decisions in light of what they are supposed to do at that particular time. They don’t normally look 10 or 20 years down the road.

  • zappy

This young man needs to look towards his mother for half of the blame. When you have someone who has all these kids without much commitment for different people (you wonder).

I feel for him, but this has to stop in the Black community.

  • Sydney™

    @Scott

May I ask how you feel now about not attending your father’s funeral? I apologize if that is too personal.

Thanks for sharing. That was very affecting.

  • *Treasure*

Qunicy is resentful of his father and rightfully so. I am glad Diddy tried to be a father to Quincy during his biological fathers absence.

It takes more than a support check to be a father. A good father instills wisdom in his son. A good father trains his son to be a good upstanding man with values, and morals. It saddens me when a parent abandons their children. Emotionally it takes a toll on these children and they become bitter and resentful. It is hard when these children need parenting or guidance from their father and he is unavailable. The end result can be costly.

When these children reach adulthood they have nothing but animosity for their long lost parent, and any futile attempts at reuniting is often met with disdain.

  • DR.FUNK

A proper rant for a young man.It does’nt appear that he’ll use it as a crutch for failure…and someday he & Al will have a chat.

  • Scott

You know the old adage about if you want to know what a man or woman truly believes, you look at where they spend their time and where they spend their money. Being a father is the same. My father didn’t spend any money or time with me so I must not have been important or meaningful.

It’s OK and I’m waay past the acceptance stage.

  • Scott

When I didn’t attend my dad’s funeral, I refused because of a rather selfish and stupid reason. I did not want his family to think that I had missed something or I wanted something from them. It was a struggle for my mom and me. Lots of lean years.

But looking back, if my father had died today, I still would not have gone.

Hopefully, we have no hard feelings…we’ll hook up in another lifetime and maybe we’ll get the relationship right then. Sometimes you are just a victim of circumstance.

  • Will

    @ scott

Just say what it is you arent a victim of circumstance but ranther held “unforgiveness” in your heart towards your dad. you say he didnt provide financially or emotionally so what my dad was there money wise but not emotional wise and have done some crappy things in my life but i promise i would go to his funeral if he dies out of respect showing im a bigger man. you arent a man if you cant forgive you are just a little boy holding a grudge.

  • Sydney™

    @Scott

“we’ll hook up in another lifetime and maybe we’ll get the relationship right then. Sometimes you are just a victim of circumstance.”

That’s true. Life is very hard sometimes. I hope that you are able to heal and that you have the support of people around you to overcome the absence you experienced.

And you should never doubt how “important” and “meaningful” you are.

  • Scott

    Tell me,

What would have been the point of me attending my father’s funeral?

A funeral bring a sense of closure for the family. I didn’t need any closure because I never had a beginning. There was nothing to close. Nothing to say good-bye to and nothing to mourn. It was like a stranger dying.

I might be a little (or lots) dense, but I don’t get it.

  • Fierce Kitty

LMAO. You are too funny. I better Kigali is one of those people.

I completely agree with you: values and morals are the SAME across the board. No matter what race.

I also noticed that about Kigali: When you come at her with a valid point, she has NOTHING to say. I’ve done this in the past and she never responds back to my posts. Like I said before, the devil never wins.

  • Will

    @Scott

A funeral does’nt just bring a “sense of closure” millions of ppl attend funerals as a sign of respect unless you are directly connected to the person. Not going to your father funeral is as bad as your father not being in your life. For instance i had a cousin who i knew for 3 years and never saw him again and he was murdered, i attended the funeral out of respect for him even though i couldnt cry or feel like what you call a “sense of closure” you attend a funeral out of respect for the person. saying “he wasnt there for me so im not there for him” is nothing more than a fancy way of saying you had a grudge. i cant understand how you can say a “stranger” its your freaking father right or wrong its your dad man seriously.

I think that his parents were just happy that he wasn’t in the streets running wild. They probably were comforted by the fact that he was nerdy and a home body. Also its hard to get help for adults who are mentally ill. Our system is designed to protect their freedom and rights. They have to be a proven threat to themselves and others.–But to his parents credit, they have honestly talked about their son’s illness, instead of making excuses.

  • Kigali (I Love Stay-at-Home Wife/Mothers)

    @leeha,

My words dont hurt children as much as the life choices of black baby mamas. So if you care about black children, you will take a hard line against those who hurt them the most.

  • Angelika

    @ Kigali

Don’t twist the bible to suit your desires. Those people that were indulging in barbaric behavior by stoning women were not advised to do so through Jesus. Jesus intervened on a woman’s behalf. She was involved in illicit acts with a married man and Jesus spoke to those people who were preparing to stone her. He told the people he who is without sin cast the first stone and then he proceeded to tell the woman go and sin no more. Jesus did not seek retribution through a vicious act of violence.

There is no excuse to go on hate crusades against women who have become lost along the way. We do not know their personal struggles that led them to this destructive path. Their may be a light after all of the darkness. Maybe that woman that you despise because of her mistakes may turn her life around and cleanse herself of her former life. Don’t condemn a whole race because of some women who have lost their way due to desires of the flesh. Everyone has flaws.

Jesus did not correct others through abuse. He corrected others through guidance and love.

It is blasphemous to twist the bible to suit your life of bitterness and scorn. Kigali you have a lot to learn before you try to admonish others.

Because right now, Jesus has become too much of an excuse for you to be clueless tramps.

  • *Treasure*

    @ Baron

Quincy was abandoned emotionally his father. it is evident. The reasons why will not soften the pain of not having his biological father around. He does not have to sit down and rehash why his father made those choices. Excuses does not matter to Quincy when his father is not their at the tender young age of 5 or 6 to teach him to ride a bike. Excuses don’t matter to Quincy when he had an important event and Al was absent. Excuses does not matter when Quincy’s birthday comes around and his father couldn’t even reach him by phone to wish him well.

It does not matter if Kim found someone else who has the financial means to support him. It is unconscionable to leave your offspring with nothing but distance and photos.

If Al B sure was intimidated by Diddy’s presence that is Al’s flaws. The measure of a man is not through his bank account. It takes so much more than finances to raise children. Quincy had the finer things in life due to Diddy providing these lavish things for him. It is apparent Quincy is resentful because of Al’s absence.

The lavish things that diddy provided did not fill the void of Quincy not having his biological father around.

Kigali is no authority on these women. She does not know what transpired in those womens lives that led them to makes those unwise decisions. She certainly does not know where they are going after all of the poor choices. Some women go to school and earn their doctorate degree after having children at an early age out of wedlock despite all the odds and people telling them that they would never amount to anything.

Don’t judge others by past mistakes.

This goes way back and I think Quincy feels used lately by his dad. Al B will take whatever picture he can and release it on the web to show the world he is with him, but it is not true. He never picks up the phone. Even when his own kids call.

You say how “smart, articulate and educated” Quincy is. Call him a “good guy”, a “gentleman” and other stuff. Other than a few cracks regarding his acne and disliking the song, the majority of the posts here have been positive regarding Quincy. Who do you think molded him to be the person you’re gushing about? PUFF. Quincy says this himself. So if the finished product we see before us is satisfying (and apparently it is, read the posts), then we need to recognize and give respect to those who created said product, not blast them.

AL B SURE PROBABLY FEELS AS THOUGH HE CANT COMPETE WITH DIDDY’S MONEY AND GIFTS, THOUGH THAT IS NOT AN EXCUSE TO NOT BE IN YOUR CHILD’S LIFE. THE IRONY, YOUR MAMMA WANTS DIDDY TO PLAY DADDY TO YOU , YET SHE HAS STATED THAT HER CHILDREN WILL NEVER MEET, NOR BE AROUND CHANCE (BABY IN ATLANTA) WHO IS DIDDY’S BLOOD DAUGHTER? UMM, YEAH, ONE THING I CAN SAY, YOUR BIRTH MOMMA AND BIRTH DADDY ARE NOT ALL TOGETHER CLEVER; HELL, OUT OF THE THREE, I GUESS YOU WOULD LOOK UP TO DIDDY.

Its so unfortunate that he has so much anger for his father… Its also a shame that his mother doesn’t seem to mind men in and out of her life…

  • Sanjor

It takes a man to realize that his children deserve for their mothers to be wives to their fathers, and not just get the woman pregnant and leave.

  • Sanjor

Bottom line, yes there are trifling black men out there, but it ends with us sisters. If you want to be out there sleeping with everyone and everything, take birth control! Yea it takes two to tango, but only ONE to prevent conception. So don’t rely on the man to control whether you give birth. It’s your body, you control it!! Damn

Maybe you could appeal to her maternal instincts and ask her to allow your half siblings to establish a relationship with their sister Chance who lives in Atlanta.
    ——————————————————————————————————

I disagree with this sentiment. Diddy created a situation that had animosity before Chance entered the world. He cheated on Kim and had another child. You can’t expect Kim to put her anger aside and try to arrange play dates for those children. They are toddlers. The only thing that is expected is for Diddy to arrange his time equally in being there for his children. If Diddy wants the children to meet, I am sure he will arrange it. It is not Kim’s place. There is too much animosity there. When the twins and Chance are older maybe they will reach out to one another and establish a relationship only time will tell. There is no need to force a relationship now when they are babies and not even in the same vicinity.

    @ will
Let Scott deal with the death of his father in his own way. Your way should not be perceived as the right way or only way to do things.

    @ Scott
You made the choice that you felt was needed at the time. I am sure you made your peace with it. At 40, I am done with doing things that are “expected” of me, I refuse to anything because I feel obligated, so as long as you are good with your decision, that’s enough for me. Thank you for sharing your story.

    @kigali
Just a question. I am 40 year old black woman, unmarried with no children. I am well educated and I have an excellent job with wonderful benefits, a supportive family and great friends. If I chose to have a baby now, without being married because I feel that I am financially and emotionally able to do so, would I also fall in the category of the black women you seem to hate?

  • @ baeyaki
It is just meant to embarrass his dad. What we can do is aid in that.
    @ COMPLEX BEING
You are right there is not excuse for not taking care of your child just like there is not excuse for not using birth control on both parts.

    @………..

Kigali is not speaking from a genuine place. She is full of hatred due to her past. There is not a loving bone in her body. A person who wants to see children thrive because of their lack of home training will try to uplift and encourage not tear down. She is a bitter person because of her unhappy upbringing. A person can’t encourage others to do well with hate speech while belittling others. Her behavior is atrocious.

Sure there are a lot of loose women as well as promiscuous males who do not treat their body as sacred. It takes two to create a child.

A woman who chose to bear a child because the man has adoring features has no substance to her character. This kind of woman is not the norm. It is distasteful to attack all women who are black because of some women who can’t control themselves

A man who choses to bed numerous women just because he can will not prosper. He does not get a pass for his immoral behavior. A man is doing himself a terrible disservice by behaving in this way. He is suceptible to disease, children who will hate him, as well as poverty. It does not fare well for the man to indulge in promiscuous behavior as well. Men and women should take responsibility for their behavior. It is wrong to excuse the males for being loose. A man with virtues knows how to control himself and conducts himself in a respectable manner.

There are a lot of men who treat women with little regard. They only see the physical attributes and that is how they chose their mates. It is wise to become friends first. This way you can see his true character.

Acts of intimacy without knowing one another only clouds your judgment. You can determine if a man will be a good father by having good looking features or a good job.

Everyone has needs but it is wise to hold off on those desires when searching for a mate.

Honestly you can judge a book by skimming through its contents by reading the first few chapters. You don’t have to buy the whole book to determine it wasn’t worth your time.

I guess it just depends as to the circumstances for all of the scenarios that you listed. For all of the situations I don’t really think they are inherently bad.

Sometimes people have to do the “lesser of two evils” and I think minorities in general are faced with having to make such decisions more often.

That being said, how do you feel about those situations and who do you think is responsible and why?

What’s so corny about wanting his father? Wanting to hear from him? Wanting to know if he loves him?

Just lurking about and reading some of these posts tells me how deeply in need of therapy some of us are. Look at his skin? He’s got acne? He’s got a unibrow? WTF, people?

I know what it is–it’s his honesty about how he feels about his father’s abandonment. It makes some of you uncomfortable, maybe because that helplessness hits so close, either consciously or unconsciously.

To attempt to neutralize the emotions that I’m sure this brings up for some of you through the use of sarcasm, teasing and other things children do when they are uncomfortable with feelings tells me that a lot of people on this board have their own “Daddy Thing” and should talk to a professional about their reactions to this young man’s plea to his father.

    @Man I Just Don’t Care:

That’s exactly what he’s saying. His father’s love, AL’S LOVE, is what he is needing, wanting. HIS FATHER! HIS! THE MAN WHO MADE HIM!

Yeah, this Sean cat’s got money, BUT HE DIDN’T HELP TO CREATE HIM. It’s different, believe me.

Is he discounting Sean’s love? Not that I heard in the song. But really, his father’s love is the love he has questions about, not Sean’s. He wants to know if he did anything to make this man not come around him. And he wants to know why this other man had to step in like he did. Out of pity? Who wants pity? He’s really questioning not so much the truth of the love he’s received, but the motivation for it.

Oh, and I don’t think anyone had to break the news to this child that Sean wasn’t his father! LMAO! I mean come on!

I don’t know how many times I have to tell you, I am a woman. And, if you are truly a woman with a child, you know that child support is nothing compared to raising a child. I guess you have never been to the emergency room @ 2 in the morning. Or, been up every few hours with a newborn. Or, have to deal with the everyday problems that children have. Child support? Born, Al B Sure! has a new single out too hitting the airways this week. Quincy is obviously very hurt to do this on the same day his dad is releasing his single. breaks my heart to read this.

  • For real

this kid has zero to lookk up to or learn from in the adult dept. all 3 adults in his life are big children. they all need to grow up and quit being selfish and self centered wich is ovious that is what they are. i hope quincy grows up to be a respectable man with a real family.

  • Born

True Patrice, but there are market savvy/money hungry people out there. I understand his pain. But you can not tell me that this young man is not being goaded into releasing this or is being used in some way. This is a sad situation for all. Someone has been waiting to capitalize on this.

IT’S FUNNY HOW THIS LETTER SPECIFICALLY IS FROM A CHILD ADDRESSING HIS FATHER AND SOMEHOW THE FOCUS AND THE BLAME SHIFTS TO THE MOTHER OF THE CHILD

LOL-IT’S HARD TO FATHOM THE IDEA THAT SOME BLACK MEN EARNED THE NAME DOG BECAUSE OF HOW THEY ARE PROCREATING OUT HERE LIKE DOGS PISSING ON TREES WITHOUT A CARE IN THE WORLD

THE SOLUTION TO THE BLACK COMMUNITIES PROBLEM IS ALWAYS THE BLACK WOMAN-LOL THE EXACT REASON THE BLACK COMMUNITY IS SO FUGGED UP NOW BLACK MEN NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS

EVERYTIME A WOMAN IS PHYSICALLY PRESENT IN A CHILD’S LIFE SHE IS TAKING FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER ACTIONS-THAT ABSENT FATHER IS NOT

OH YEAH-I FORGOT BLACK MEN AREN’T SMART ENOUGH TO WEAR A CONDOM, OR SPOT A HOE, OR FIGURE OUT THAT THEY SHOULD SUPPLY THEIR OWN CONDOM & PUT IT ON THEMSELVES

LET ME GUESS WHEN YOUR D$CK IS HARD YOU CAN’T THINK STRAIGHT, THEN AFTERWARDS WHEN A BABY POPS UP YOU MAKE UP ALL THESE CONSPIRACY THEORIES ABOUT HOW THE BABY GOT HERE-IT’S ALWAYS AFTER THE FACT SOMETHING YOU DIDN’T WANT-YADA YADA

STOP BEING LED BY YOUR D#CKS AND YOU WOULDN’T BE A VICTIM OR GET PLAYED SO MUCH

DAMM! That sent chills thru my body, because I can definetly relate to what he’s saying I to was fatherless!!! Keep ya head up Quincy and stay in the positive lane!!!

  • Cutiepie

WHAT ABOUT CHANCE COMBS??? Puffy only sends money but does not visit the little girl what so ever because of KIM so go figure!

  • GIVEDADDYSOMESUGAR

Being fatherless is painful and confusing and the question of “Why” never goes away. Money and creature comforts neither mitigates nor answers the pain and the questions.

  • Shanelle

. . .umm. . .doesn’t your stepdaddy have an endorsement deal with proactive. . .? there’s no excuse. . .dude.

  • Sheree

AL B SURE! IS A LIAR AND DOES NOT CARE WHO HE DESTROYS IN THE PROCESS!

  • maxwell

As a grown man who did not have a father figure in my life I can tell you that money and monetary things cannot replace your biological father’s love.
I hope you and your dad can mend things and before you put your business out there like that, think about the future and how looking back on this will make you feel? He still is your dad right? Be Cool. Blessings.

  • GG

    @loveandpeace

Very well stated. I am feeling you on your response.

  • Yvonne

Please leave Al B alone. This is a family matter and should have been handled in private. This is not right! Not right at all…

  • Dawna

WESTCOASTLOVE we missed it- tell us again!

  • Arkansas has spoken

I like the song and im glad he is ok so many young man and women share this story….and you have to be strong because you will have children and you can make different choices for their future than being abscent …also i love when he said i dont need a father i have barak obama……the prez has no idea how many young black youth he has inspired by running for and winning office

  • Margo

    Wow.

  • ABSSUCKS

DO NOT BUY THIS PRICK’S NEW CD ON HIDDEN BEACH. HE IS A DEADBEAT DAD AND HUMAN!!!

  • michelle

wow it must hurt to not have yur dad that way. deadbeat label will stay with you for life I dont think quincy was joking. this is sad, I cannot imagine my life without my dad. he is sooo cute!

  • 2 sides

there is always 2 sides to every story but no excuse for a deadbeat. I do remember though when al b sure wrote that song forever my lady for jodeci was about kim porter pregnant with quincy. maybe she left him and he never got over and took it out on the child. who knows, it is sad for both parties.

  • 2 sides

I just listen to the lyrics this is heartbreaking. makes me appreciate my father, good beat too.

  • miz bella

    *shrug* i guess Al B. really iz a Dope on a Rope…smh

  • me

    @ Jai

I think Quincey is old enough to know (or would know) if something was going on to prevent his father from seeing him. He’s not a child anymore.
    Heck Yeah!

  • Bring It

These people are ignorant and boring. No character or class! What kind of man has a son put him on blast like this?

  • Spermdonor

Al B. Sure will probably try to say that this is all a “MISUNDERSTANDING.” He told Kim that she was “OFF ON HER OWN (GIRL)” to raise their child. Bad thing is his son thought about his father “NITE AND DAY.” All that time the boy was calling out for his dad to “RESCUE ME.”

    Another absentee father strikes again.

  • deesac

Wow he looks just like his father when he was young

  • whybe

    LOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cookie

damn, looks like al b gave birth to this child all by himself!!

[...] A Letter To My Father, Al. B Sure. [...]

  • Carla

Quincy’s like Al B. but inside he’s like Kim, but in guy form, lol…

  • The Truth!

I guess when you father don’t wanna give you the time the only way you can let him know how you feel is to put him on blast. You should’ve called Al B.

  • DQuenn

Damn!!! My dad was a deadbeat too but I could never put him on blast like this. I can appreciate his pain and he is still young, why didn’t anyone try and stop this boy. Where is his voice of reason?

  • Leesha

So sad. They lyrics are heartbreaking. I am so sick of deadbeat dads!

  • Tanja

Its about time the kids speak up for themselves. Well done son.

  • http://Bossip.com Shirl

    Well done Quincy!

  • Hold on

There are 2 sides to every story. So quick to judge?
Where is this boy’s mother and why would she allow him to post something so personal and private???? towards his father? He sounds somewhat spoiled to me or maybe it runs in the father/sons blood? Like father like son. Dad is spoiled and so is son??
