Man Arrested For Posting Nude Pictures Of Ex Onto Facebook

Police are alleging a Bay City man persistently harassed his ex-girlfriend via the Internet, posting nude photos of her on Facebook in an attempt to drive her to suicide.

The afternoon of Thursday, July 31, a woman visited the Bay City police station and spoke with an officer regarding her 34-year-old ex, Chad A. Monroe, not leaving her alone. The woman said she had his phone number blocked, but he kept calling and sending her text messages and messages on Facebook, court records show.

The woman told police that Monroe had told her he would make her life a living hell until she killed herself. He also posted nude photos of her on Facebook and labeled her a whore, she said.

Facebook removed the photos, but people had saved them, she told police.

The woman said Monroe threatened to keep posting the photos until he gets some of his property back from her, court records show.

The woman had filed a personal protection order against Monroe on July 22, but it hadn’t been served to him yet, she told police. In response, Monroe sent her a Facebook message saying the PPO wouldn’t work as it was just a piece of paper, court records show.

The woman’s mother accompanied her to the station and gave police a similar account, saying Monroe was also messaging her nude photos of her daughter and saying he’d destroy her daughter until she commits suicide, court records show.

In response to this complaint, police called Monroe, who they say was belligerent to them on the phone. Monroe said it was the woman who had been calling him. He refused to come to the police station, saying he believed he’d be arrested, court records show.

Police told Monroe to stop contacting his ex, but he said there was nothing they could do to him without the PPO having been served, court records show.

“I know about the PPO, but it’s all bull(expletive) and you won’t find me to serve me,” Monroe told the police, according to court records. “I talked with my lawyer and he said I can put naked pictures of (her) on the Internet and I am going to keep doing it until she gives me my (expletive) back. There’s nothing you can do about it. I am staying up in Pinconning with my crazy aunt and she will shoot anyone who comes onto her property.”

Shortly after midnight on Friday, Aug. 1, police were dispatched to meet with the woman, who said she’d received more messages from Monroe.

The prosecution apparently disagreed with the advice Monroe’s lawyer reportedly gave him about the legality of posting nude photos of his ex, as they issued a warrant for him on Tuesday, Aug. 12. Monroe did not name his lawyer in his conversation with police, court records indicate.

The next day, Monroe was arraigned in Bay County District Court on single counts of stalking, a one-year misdemeanor, and unlawful posting of a message on the Internet, a two-year felony.
