 HIJACKING

Livesteez is reporting that a crazed gun man hijacked a plane in Jamaica:

Jamaican officials captured an armed man who bogarted his way onto a plane, held six crew members hostage and demanded to be flown to Cuba at a Jamaican airport. The Associated Press reported that the incident occurred around 10p.m. Sunday at Sangster International Airport. The Boeing 737 CanJet aircraft was destined for Cuba but never departed form the runway.  After barging onto the jet, the gunmen, who is believed to be mentally challenged, released all the passengers and two crew members. The captives were held through the night while officials negotiated to secure the release of the remaining crew members.

According to CNN reports, an airline spokesperson revealed that the gunman fired a shot in the boarding bridge to the plane upon entry. No one was injured. The spokesperson further confirmed that aircraft took flight from Halifax, Canada and had made its scheduled landing in Montego Bay, when the armed man seized the plane that was scheduled for a later departure to Santa Clara, Cuba. The airline’s Vice President, Kent Woodside, confirmed the CanJet flight 918 was carrying 174 passengers  and eight crew members. He reported that all passengers were Canadian. Upon release the occupants were bussed to a hotel while the airport was locked down.

Jamaica’s Information Minister Daryl Vaz said, “The hijacking is that from a mentally challenged youngster and not anything that would be of concern in terms of an international incident. His demand was to go to Cuba,” he said. A passenger on the flight, Christian Gosselin, told his father, Alphonse, that the gunman demanded money from the plane’s occupants. “The guy wanted to have all their money,” said Alphonse. “He (my son) told his girlfriend to take all the money and just take her passport and credit card and put it in her back pocket.”

Thank God no one was hurt. Lock his rabid ass up in a Jamaican jail for a some years. He is sure to shake that craziness, hanging around them niccas.

    So, this cat was mentally challenged? Aren’t all hijackers mentally challenged? Have we forgetten 9/11 already?

  • meela

    @ meela, there are many things wrong with jamaica, but the airport costums in jamaica, is one of the most decent and professional operations on the planet. they are not there to kiss your ass

  • country

    @meela, to the contrary….I have observe the abuse of costums by returning jamaicans…. and did you even borther to ask them if they were being rude to the person behind you??????

  • meela

    @country, are you from Jamaica?

  • chocolateprincess

    I’m wondering why this guy didn’t swim to cuba as he was asking to go to cuba cuz it’s not that difficult to reach cuba from jamaica.

  • country

    @meela, yes me Jamaican

  • NEXT_lalalove

    Oh, my. There are too many stigmas attached to that island, thank goodness no one was hurt. Jamaica is such a beautiful island, the best Caribbean island in my opinion (I’ve been to many), and it’s most definately still the powerhouse of the Caribbean. It’s just the violence in Kingston that’s ruining the reputation of the entire island.

    Again, thank goodness no was hurt. Was the hijacker from the island? He’s undoubtedly someone from the inside though.

  • meela

    @country, in my experience, the custom officers cop an attitude before I even open my mouth. I don’t observe this when they are dealing with “other” tourists. Example, 2 yrs ago I went to JA with my friend, as we were exiting the plane a custom office walked pass us, cut her eyes and kissed her teeth. Wff

    Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think all custom officers are rude, but the vast majority can be. Especially the women

  • rekababy
