Last time I checked the “child” must be raised by two people. I think you read about that all day long in those journals you claim to know so well ! Without one there can not be the other my friend. If that was what Kigali said, there’d be a lot more people backing her, but it isn’t. She has great disdain for Black women in the US. According to her, the majority of them are baby mommas and stuff.

Once I asked her about her thoughts regarding women who get married, have a child or two, then are divorced a couple of years later. I mentioned it was a common situation, one I see frequently as I do a lot of volunteer work. Oh, and the key part: I live in a predominately White neighborhood, so yes, these newly divorced women with young children are mostly WHITE. Do you know she went as far as to say most of the time this happens because “they have the Black woman’s attitude” and are “sassy” and don’t know their role, etc. etc. She also went on to say that if the husband cheats, the woman should be asking herself “what she’s doing wrong.”

There is something telling when most divorces are initiated by women. Most divorces laws favor women heavily. A woman has everything to gain and nothing to lose if she iniates a divorce. She can commit adultery and still get the kids, house, and half of your ex husbands income. Most women dont think about the consequnces their divorces will have concerning their children. Similarly black females dont think about the consequnces of how they set up their families. Children are never the higest priority.

Well now are we a little angry. So what you are saying is that it is okay for people with money to not have morales, but not ok for not as affluent as the ones I have listed. You play around words and when I come and aask you a question about a different race or the same race of someone who has money, you get upset and refuse to answer.

So I will give you some stats out here in VA Beach where I love. Yes there are black kids who are in gangs and killing people, but I can tell you tht 4 of the kids belong two two parent homes, that live in decent neighborhoods. But we just had a case of 4 white kids who got arrested for making plans to do a Columbine type killings at new highschool that is predominately white.

A friend of my son’s who just graduated high schoollast year just had his frist child. Both himand the baby momma come from two parent homes. There was only 1 girl who was pregnant in his class out of the 6 who came from a single parent home. One of my daughter’s friend is 16 and in jail for murder one. Comes from a two parent home as well. Matter of fact, his mom just had a baby like 3 weeks ago.

So before you start downing black women for their parenting, findo ut about all of the US. Not every two parent home is as you believe from stats you got from wikipedia

@me(the original), I agree on some things. I have been married twice. My first marriage was to a West Indian, who because he didn’t come from America, thought he wasn’t black. After 10 years of marriage and him climbing the corporate ladder, he decided he wanted to be single. We had a 4 year old son. So even marrying a black man from another culture doesn’t guarantee success, lol. Now I’m remarried, live in the midwest, a stay at home mom, running a catering business part time, have a 2 year old daughter with my new husband, (who is a hard working blue collar black man). I have a lot of single and divorced white women with children in my neighborhood. So divorce is rampant in every race. While I don’t resort to name calling, I do agree with most of what Kigali says. Simply put, try to make wise choices about your potential mate and be committed to bringing your children into a secure and strong two parent household, so that they can have every advantage mentally, physically and emotionally.

Thanks. I appreciate the few women out there who know how important marriage and family is. I think it is great how you are a stay at home mom. If and when I have kids, I too will be a stay at home mom. Everyone complains about not having the money to stay at home and raise children but you can always cut back on your expensese, take all the money you would be spending on day care and the medical care you will eventually need because your kids are constantly getting sick while in day care, and stay at home and raise the children you gave birth too. It will only be a few years until they are old enough to go to school and you can work while they are there.

Actually, it doesn’t matter if they are from one or two-parent homes. If they are in prison, the ones who were NOT WRONGFULLY convicted, need to be there if they did commit a crime.

I was not refering to the hood, I was refering to my area, which is far from the hood. I live about 30 minutes from where Michael Vick, Alan Iverson and Alonzo Morning. But I can tell you in LA, that many of the kids when I was growing up came from two family homes that were in gangs, because thier fathers or mothers were in a gang.

That said, you know what they say about the best laid plans. Sometimes stuff just goes wrong, and if that happens, then you have to put your children FIRST and do what’s best for them. It was a running joke in my family that I, (being a black woman from a small alabama town) would marry a white man, because for some reason they gravated towards me and I dated my fair share of white men. Although white men may be married longer or keep their families together, they see no problem with having women on the side. They aren’t immune to being asses and treating their wives or girlfriends like trash. Case in point, I dated a white man for two years before we broke up. He has been married for the past 15 years with 3 kids, but he has sent msgs and tried to contact me through mutual friends so we can resume a relationship on the side. One of my childhood friends who is white and married to a white man has put up with his hoeing and mental abuse for years, and he is a pillar of the community. So if your man is an upgrade, he’s probably an upgrade from stupidity and not of a specific race.

I do agree with unforseen circumstances. I never thought my first marriage would end in divorce. I would have died a thousand times to prevent my son from going through that. I do agree that it is both spouses responsibility to make the marriage work. If you can make it work by all means do it, especially if there are kids involved. I did everything I could to make my marriage work, I kept my home clean, I cooked, I loved and took care of our son, I was a help mate and equal partner to my husband. I asked him to go to counseling and he told me that he was perfect, but I could go, and I did go. This man did everything but put his hands on me and he threatened to do that. (But he knew my strong black father and brothers would beat him to a pulp, lol). In the end it was a blessing that we divorced because I had to show my son that it wasn’t ok to treat your wife or any woman that way. He will grow up to be
a responsible well adjusted black man who can cherish and love his wife and family. My ex is involved in our son’s life, however, his step-father shows him every day what its like to be a husband.

I think we might be kindred spirits, lol. That’s my story, except I know my first husband wouldn’t dare put a hand on me. EVER. I never had any fear of that kind of abuse.

But the other stuff..yes. I knew him for years before we even started dating, let alone got married. I never saw it coming…the mistreatment and all that, yes. When I suggested counseling to him, he told me that it was “not something he wanted to do at that point in his life.” I let him know exactly where to go, when to go and how to get there. Three weeks later, I was in my own apartment.

No one goes into marriage thinking something like “Yeah, I’m hopping on the failboat, set sail for fail!!”…they’re thinking it’s a good idea and are envisioning happily ever after.

I try to be a good mother. My children are my everything. They didn’t ask to be born, so its my responsibility to ensure they have every advantage afforded to them. I made sure that my now husband knew that I had a son and that my son was my priority. My husband didn’t meet my son until I knew that he was worth something and was going to be my husband, and even then I told him if my son couldn’t handle me remarrying, I wouldn’t put my son through that. Too many people go into marriages thinking that, “well if it doesn’t work out, or go my way all the time, I’ll just get a divorce”. My ex did that with everything and everyone. In the end he lost a beautiful family.
