13 Facts That Prove Ramen Noodles Are The Coolest Struggle Meal In America

 

Here’s a toast to the college kids, the people dedicated and starting from the bottom and those that  simply embrace their struggle. Food gets expensive! Take a moment and praise the almighty ramen for being here for us during trying times. Here is a list of facts that’ll make you feel cool about eating instant ramen noodles. Cheers!

1. It’s a buffet/rainbow! They come in tons of flavors and the chicken, shrimp, beef and oriental flavor packs actually have powdered meat in them. Yummy, meat powder!

2. They are cost efficient. It would only cost you $142 to feed yourself for a whole year on a Ramen noodle diet. 3% of the average cost spent a year on food per person. Now you can splurge on your rent.

 


3. You don’t even need a pot or to even do dishes after dinner. Cook and eat your Ramen noodles right out the package.

 

 

4. You can jazz them up. There are dozens and dozens of ramen recipes on the internet. Turn your struggle into a real cuisine!

5. They’ve been to outer space. Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi took ramen board the American shuttle Discovery in 2005. He and six fellow astronauts enjoyed the floating noodles (no gravity)  along with a heavy broth. That’s pretty awesome.

6. Ramen noodles have a museum dedicated to them. It includes an art gallery, 9 gourmet ramen restaurants and a replica of historic Tokyo streets when Ramen grew in popularity. The Ramen noodle was King in those historic Tokyo streets.

7. They’ve won national awards. In 2000 Japanese citizens voted ramen it’s best invention.

8. Not all ramen is “bad“. Instant ramen is the variety of ramen with additives and preservatives that aren’t great for anyone over time. There are restaurants that make ramen out of fresh ingredients and it’s still affordable.

9. The inventor of Instant Ramen and CupNoodles died at age 96 in 2007. His daughter said the secret to his long life was playing golf often and eating ramen noodles everyday.

 

 

 

10. It’s a hot item amongst inmates. In Texas prisons, ramen goes for 20 cents a pack and commissaries there sell about 2.3 million packages a month.

 

11. They are technically a foreign delicacy. Although ramen is very popular with financially strapped college students in the US, 75% of it’s sales are in Asia where they originate.



12. The length of the noodles in one package add up to about 51 meters, the length of a tennis court. Trippy.

13. Don’t have a stove or a microwave? Whip some Ramen noodles up in a coffee pot like this. Struggle all the way.
