Cameras caught up with Bey to get her side of the “strangled-cat” audio fiasco. She claims she just heard about it, but all you fools have heard her sing live before so what’s the problem:
Papa Knowles’ “hot as fish grease” statement:
Beyonce’s dad is on the warpath against the people attacking his daughter for the supposed ” board mix” audio of B singing at “The Today Show” — claiming all doubters of her ability are “idiots.” In a fiery statement to TMZ, Matthew Knowles, who’s also Bey’s manager, says his daughter was set up. It’s one of the best statements we’ve ever gotten. “If no one took the time to look at the biggest Inauguration in the history of America then shame on them. If no one took the time to listen to Beyonce sing ‘America the Beautiful’ and ‘At Last’ at the Neighborhood Ball for the first dance of President Obama and the First Lady, and they question Beyonce’s vocal ability, they’ve gotta be an idiot. At 12 years into her career, the last thing someone should be questioning is her vocal ability. That would be like questioning if Kobe Bryant could shoot a jump shot. The vocals were obviously altered.”

overstand, check any rasta for the meaning behind saying that instead of understand, it will take too much time. it’s simple wordplay and the meaning behind words and phrases i.e. how can one understand if you’re under, under a rock, under a spell, etc, etc. i try not to get to deep into that stuff
the technology cannot make a bad singer whose pitch is all over the place sound good, you would hear all the artifacts and formant changes. to take an average singer with really bad pitch and intonation and fix it would be extremely time consuming as opposed to a singer that has a few pitchy parts. things like autotune can do some real time pitch correction but nothing drastic and it wouldn’t be able to make this mess sound less horrible. there really isn’t an elixer despite what some may think.
old school songs used the same ‘tricks’, they haven’t changed for the most part, things like delay, chorus, flangers, reverb, doubling, harmonizers, etc have been used to improve performance and ‘fool’ (a lack of a better word) your ears and how it reports to your brain and how it is perceived. the biggest difference is that singers and musicians used to be allowed to have bad notes/be pitchy, basically be imperfect, whereas now it’s expected to have no flaws, leaving a weird unnatural vibe to modern music for well over 2 decades.

It used to be that you could turn on a radio station and they’d have a singer up. They’d ask said singer to sing a few bars, and it’d sound decent. I don’t even think that happens anymore.
I will concede that you’re right, autotune and stuff like that isn’t a magic wand and can not take someone who sounds completely terrible and make them sound great, but it is being used more often it seems, and on a lower grade of singers. Just my opinion.
