Details On August Alsina Collapsing During NYC Concert

As we exclusively reported last night, R&B crooner August Alsina collapsed & fell off the stage half way through his sold show at New York City’s Irving Plaza late yesterday evening.  Prior to the unfortunate incident, BOSSIP was in the building to see both August and opening act Teyana Taylor put on memorable performances that had the packed crowd going crazy.

Teyana took to the stage first to perform several original songs, including her latest single “Maybe” and Request,” while also getting fans energized with quick renditions of Janet Jackson’s “I Get Lonely,” and Aaliyah’s “One In A Million,” to name a few. Teyana also brought out R&B newcomer Sebastian Mikael and fellow New Yorker Mack Wilds to serenade the ladies before closing out her set.

Check out a few video clips below of Teyana’s performance…

…and hit the flip for a full recap of Augusts’ show, as well as additional details on what happened leading up to his collapse along with videos of him performing moments before the incident.

Headliner August Alsina hit the stage to a crowd full of screaming fans, opening the show with his telling album cut “Testify.”

Appearing exhausted but energetic still, the NOLA ladies man’ continued the show with more music off of his debut album, like the recently remixed “No Love,” along with a few songs from his previously released Downtown: Life Under The Gun mixtape, including the emotionally charged “Nobody Knows,” where he was seen wiping away tears from underneath his signature dark shades before the song’s end. Before a brief intermission to head backstage & change clothes following the first hour of his show, August also took a moment to “introduce” himself to those who “may have come to the with a friend,” thanking fans for their unwavering support and even handing out a few dozen roses while performing his popular single “Ghetto.”

Upon returning to the stage for the second half of his show in a black t-shirt and black leather Crooks & Castles bucket hat, August launched  back into full performance mode.  It was midway through his performance of  the DJ Mustard-produced west coast club banger “Numb,” that fans fell silent as August suddenly disappeared from the crowd’s view, collapsing from the stage to the floor. After his bodyguard quickly removed him from the floor and carried him backstage, his band, camera crew and entire team quickly scrambled to see what was going on while EMT made their way into the venue to tend to August.  His DJ later confirmed to the crowd that the show would have to be cut short and asked fans to pray for him. The crowd was then ushered outside, where they soon located two ambulances that had arrived on the scene near the rear entrance of the venue.  Augusts’ bodyguard and the EMT crew emerged from the building after about half an hour later, making their way through the multitude of fans with a wheelchair carrying a covered up August, who was quickly surrounded by members of his team, including his DJ, who stood around him with their hands up to prevent concert goers from snapping photos as the paramedics loaded him into the ambulance and later drove off.

August is scheduled to continue his “Testimony: Live” tour with a stop in Cincinnati tonight, but hopefully he is getting some much needed rest and tending to his health as he and his team figure out the next move.
