4-Month-Old Baby Gets Bloodied And Scratched At Daycare

An Indiana mom is trying to find answers after she went to pick up her 4-month-old from daycare and found the child scratched and bloody. Workers at the center say the tot was somehow attacked by a toddler or multiple toddlers when she was left unsupervised.

A Fort Wayne family picked up their baby girl from daycare and found the 4 month old’s face scratched and bloody.

Alexis Mendez tells WFFT that when she picked up her daughter Cecilia at the Kelly’s Kiddie Kare in Fort Wayne, she was shocked to discover dozens of scratched all over her infant’s face.

“The moment I saw the worst of her wounds, I immediately collapsed to the floor on my knees and I just kept saying how could you let this happen to her? Why didn’t you watch her? Why weren’t you here?”

Mendez says the daycare staff called her at work to tell her there had been a minor incident.

When Mendez arrived to see baby Cecilia, she says she was stunned.

“I felt betrayed, I felt ya know, that my child’s safety was definitely compromised. Whose to say that something worse wouldn’t have happened? Whose to say that she wouldn’t have been fatally injured?”

WFFT went to Kelly’s Kiddie Kare on Bluffton Road to see if they would comment on the incident.

The owner Kelly Johnson declined to comment on the incident however, Mendez tells us how they explained it to her that day.

“Proceeded to tell me that she had been attacked by a toddler or multiple toddlers.

They were very ambiguous about their description as to what happened.

At the time, the owner was not in the room but their helper had left the room to use the restroom.”

Mendez says the incident has no put doubt in her head.

“She was viciously attacked and unfortunately I’m the one that left her there so I feel partly responsibly for trusting a facility to really monitor what’s going on.”

Mendez has filed a complaint with the Department of Children’s Services and hopes this never happens to another family.

SMFH @ them being “ambiguous” about what happened, that poor mother must’ve been horrified!
