Go to the supermarket and buy some fresh fruits, vegetables, and low-carb foods and start teaching your kids about nutrition. There are specials every week at area stores.

That’s what you can feed your family. Not some high calorie, high fat fast food that is guaranteed to pack on pounds and puts you at risk for other health ailments that are already disproportionately high among African Americans.

I know, girl. BTW, I’ve found some great produce on sale at Whole Foods — some of their prices are comparable to other supermarkets, and I think they have the best selection. I had some great grapefruit from there the other day, and I’m going back this week to stock up on more fruit, I think.

This is what our culture has come to. Lazy consumersism and mis-guided principles. People upset over what they perceive is a deal. Popeye’s ain’t doing this deal if they are not making a nice profit off it. They are not doing this out of the kindness of their hearts.

It’s the laws of overhead, supply and demand. Popeye’s ain’t stupid. It’s either overstock inventory they getting rid of or they got some kind of special wholesale price on chicken that allows them to sell 8 pieces for $4.99 and still make their profit. It’s simple business people. You are not going to strain your staff and inventory if you are not making a significant profit to make up for it.

I don’t blame the franchise for not parti*****ting. It’s their franchise and their choice. And them dumb-***** people in Minnesota don’t get it that if this franchise has not parti*****ted before in Popeye’s national promotions, what makes them think they will now.

Getting mad over some damn chicken. Get the fawk outta here… Sitting in a $50k truck talking bout “I can’t feed my family”…

I’ve been to Crisp & Juicy (which is expensive to me), and, trust me, if you want Peruvian chicken, El Pollo Rico (it’s family-owned) is far better. There was a location near Wheaton Mall that burned down a year or so ago, but I think there’s another location in NoVa.

When I was little, fast food was a special “treat” we were able to have once in a while. Why people feed their kids this shyte if they have a grocery store within driving distance is a tragedy. Chicken at the store is cheaper than chicken at Popeyes. WAIT – oh, they actually have to PREPARE it… oops, my bad. Better to give your kids a sodium bomb than spend the time cooking it yourself. Or – here’s a novel concept – cook on Sunday for the week and put it in the freezer/fridge so all you have to do is nuke it. And if the kids don’t want “leftovers” they can stare at their plates.

Brooke, a lot of people who decide 2 stop eating meat and go vegan become sick because they don’t know what 2 replace the meat with. We need the essential protiens found in certain meats, not the additives, so when u stop eating meat without knowing what 2 replace it with, u will get sick.

I recommend any 1 who wants 2 try this, check with a nutritionist. There r a TON of soy products out there that can replace meat. It may b an acquired taste 4 some, though.

totally agree. I was vegan for like 3 months as a new years resolution, but I kept getting sick, so I started eating poultry again, but NEVER fried, only baked or broil, and it actually tastes soo much better.

Folks – now that I did see the video’s – you got to admit, the media knows how to exploit us very well. Even the news reporters in the station were laughing at the people they interviewed, which in the first video all were BLACK and pretty dang embarr*****ing, too. They even had black business men in that video complaining about some dang on chicken – like they never ate before. In the second video – there were some white folks complaining – but anyone would look at them and say they have a legitimate reason to complain about the man not honoring the deal, but the woman complaining about “how her kids going to eat, now, is pretty embar*****ing. Oh – the double standards and the black folks who like to talk for us, ALL, on TV. Between those two things, I’m even embarr*****ed and I didn’t even go looking for no chicken at Popeyes or KFC.

LOL, that was funny. That one guy was right though about Popeye’s needing to get their act together. I’m in PA & a vegetarian but I like there non-meat foods. (I told this before on Bossip about my Popeye’s experience)I went there a few weeks ago to get some corn on the cob and some cajun beans & rice. Sat there for 5 minutes no one came to the loud speaker or was at the window the people in front of me got out there car and went in. I left and went to KFC and got BBQ beans and corn. They have good food though but they need to get it together. All people get excited over free food though because when they have free ice cream here people wait in the lines in the hot sun for over an hour.I just don’t understand where the name came from because Popeye the sailor man only ate spinach.

You don’t have to buy food from a Whole Foods market to be healthy. With my family I substitue beef for turkey. I don’t buy fresh veggies but I buy them frozen. As a medical student and mother I don’t have time to sit an chop up carrots. And on a Friday or Saturday we eat out. I let my kids now that food like that isnt poison and its okay to have it in moderation. Hence this is what that women could have been doing. Unfair to p***** judgement when you don’t know whats going on.

Michael Vick moved a step closer to resolving his bankruptcy case, having settled all disputes with his creditors including his former agent and the Atlanta Falcons, attorneys announced at a hearing this morning.

But at the bankruptcy hearing, nothing new emerged to indicate whether Vick will have a future in the NFL. An attorney for the Falcons said the club will retain its contract with Vick, but the team has no plans to play him if he is reinstated to the league.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Vick indefinitely amid the former star quarterback’s dog fighting case. Vick is scheduled to be released from federal prison next month and will return to live in Hampton.

Vick’s lawyers and his creditors announced in court that they have settled their differences. Vick will submit a new reorganization plan that will be based on a plan the bankruptcy judge rejected earlier this month.

The new plan will be similar to the old one, with a percentage of Vick’s future income dedicated to paying back his creditors. Vick owes millions to banks, his former agent and other creditors.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Frank J. Santoro set a June 9 hearing date for the attorneys to return with a formal plan.

If Popeye’s chicken advertised this special, which I did see on TV, they should have had enough chicken for how many hours they were opened or said something like “as long as the chicken specials last”.

If certain franchise’s were not parti*****ting it should have been advertised as “at parti*****ting Popeye’s only” so people would not *****ume ALL Popeye chicken places were running the special.

I don’t blame these people. That was false advertising because they did not advertise it correctly.

Oh and one more thing, alot of you ask where is the outrage from black people about crimes and drugs in there community right? Get out more! Here in Minneapolis, there is an organization called MAD DADS, they are BLACK men who ride the city bus and monitor to *****ure bus riders that they are safe and secure and that violence, swearing and fighting will not be tolerated.

Also, i am a volunteer in North Minneapolis, and I mean in the HEART of North Minneapolis, not in an office in the suburbs that keeps tabs on North Minneapolis. North Minneapolis has weekly and sometimes daily homicides, schools regularly shut down and home foreclosures. Where is the news that people like me and others are making a difference? Rest *****ured, black people, and i mean REAL BLACK PEOPLE are doing something about the state of the black community. And I got love for Chicagoans, but the crazy ones get me going.

For one, this is an on the low crack at niccas and chicken…but the real issue of the company not being accountable is never really discussed. The idea of mediocre service is pushed to the background to reinforce the nicca/chicken stereotype. Establishments in low income areas are notorius for crappy service and the issue should be addressed not humoured since people are in fact spending their money.

Why were our brothers and sisters getting upset over no more fried chicken, like if they were going to die if they didn’t have any fried chicken. I understand that it was a good deal, but damn, if it’s gone press on. I know money is tight for everyone now days, but we shouldn’t get upset when we can’t get in on a good deal. They should have been just happy that there was a special, and that some of them got in on the special. Getting angry and letting the news get it on camera. We are stamp with it again sterotype, black people and fried chicken, and acting up in public. And there was only one man that didn’t get the special, but still got some chicken. And I myself love fried chicken, cause chicken on the bone is right on. But there is other food to eat then chicken, and other great deals also.

Well the multiple chains in the Rockchester area and abroad has no excuse, and has all the earmarks of being your typical (non proactive thinkin’) “*****” ran franchises…Now the lone Popeyes Franchise in Minneapolis, I can’t blame. If I was the owner of the only Popeyes in Bumble*****, USA, I wouldn’t parti*****te in that special either, unless the Popeyes (the corporation) gave me certain concessions (suchas) a standby mobile freezer truck to house an excess of product to satisfy the demand for all those fried chicken eating Jim Crow Throwbacks that was certain to flood the area to sate their hunger for cheap fried chicken. (You’d think the novelty and taste of cheap fried chicken would’ve worn off – *****s!)

VA Beach is not close enough to say you live in the DMV. I live in Alexandria, VA about a good 20 minutes from D.C. (depending on traffic). I am from Texas and when I moved up here, I just couldn’t believe the price of groceries…and the fact that there isn’t a Super Walmart.

This is merely a ploy, to make us look bad people. I mean think about it. These people were misled and tricked into thinking that they were getting an 8pc for $4.99 ,but to only get their faces put on web blast and local “red-neck” news. If it’s only one damn chicken deal in the ***** *****in state of MN (Now just please ask yourself!) “what would the turn out be? hmmmm!” Alot of people on that day period. Now it just so happens that alot of us including myself love chicken! Those cities or towns know what they are doing because the same news media outlets could have told those folks that the so and so Popeyes isn’t parti*****ting in the nationally televised “Work Day” special. But they didn’t they had us coming from miles around to get put on blast as going Koo Koo over chicken. I viewed the videos and the people weren’t actin a “Damnn Fool” they were just upset that they were dooped by dem punk mu *****as. Lets see what would happen if “camped out whitey” sat outside of BestBuy all *****in night to not get a new “Halo” or some ***** like dat. But the people in Minneapolis should boycott this Popeye’s and put it out of business, and get a new owner in there who will honor the national Popeye specials.
