I saw this. This was the only Popeye’s in the state, and they refused to honor a nationally televised campaign.

They should have sold the chicken at the discounted price until they ran out.

Go to the supermarket and buy some fresh fruits, vegetables, and low-carb foods and start teaching your kids about nutrition. There are specials every week at area stores.

That’s what you can feed your family. Not some high calorie, high fat fast food that is guaranteed to pack on pounds and puts you at risk for other health ailments that are already disproportionately high among African Americans.

This is what our culture has come to. Lazy consumersism and mis-guided principles. People upset over what they perceive is a deal. Popeye’s ain’t doing this deal if they are not making a nice profit off it. They are not doing this out of the kindness of their hearts.

It’s the laws of overhead, supply and demand. Popeye’s ain’t stupid. It’s either overstock inventory they getting rid of or they got some kind of special wholesale price on chicken that allows them to sell 8 pieces for $4.99 and still make their profit. It’s simple business people. You are not going to strain your staff and inventory if you are not making a significant profit to make up for it.

I don’t blame the franchise for not participating. It’s their franchise and their choice. And them dumb-ass people in Minnesota don’t get it that if this franchise has not participated before in Popeye’s national promotions, what makes them think they will now.

Getting mad over some damn chicken. Get the fawk outta here… Sitting in a $50k truck talking bout “I can’t feed my family”…

I’ve been to Crisp & Juicy (which is expensive to me), and, trust me, if you want Peruvian chicken, El Pollo Rico (it’s family-owned) is far better. There was a location near Wheaton Mall that burned down a year or so ago, but I think there’s another location in NoVa.

Yeah, I know you’re from the West Coast, but here in the D.C. area, there’s a Peruvian chain called El Pollo Rico — it’s family-owned and has gotten great reviews in the local press. There was a story about a year ago about some legal problems the owners had because they had hired some illegal immigrant workers, and someone contacted the INS. Then the location later burned down after it re-opened.

Now that people are getting the swine flu, what will the summer cookouts be like with no ribs, pork butt, pork chops, greens with no hamhocks, hog head cheese sandwichs?

I recommend any 1 who wants 2 try this, check with a nutritionist. There r a TON of soy products out there that can replace meat. It may b an acquired taste 4 some, though.

VA Beach is not close enough to say you live in the DMV. I live in Alexandria, VA about a good 20 minutes from D.C. (depending on traffic). I am from Texas and when I moved up here, I just couldn’t believe the price of groceries…and the fact that there isn’t a Super Walmart.

I get tired of black people blaming the white man for everything. No one forces anyone to eat anywhere. These people were there of their own free will. The only thing the white man can be blamed for here is taking initiative, investing his money, being a business owner and providing a living for his family. So why is that so bad?

Must have been a real slow news day in Minneapolis for the tv station to cover this. But the people in Minneapolis should boycott this Popeye’s and put it out of business, and get a new owner in there who will honor the national Popeye specials. That owner was being a cheapskate because he knows he made a ton of money that day from people coming out expecting to get the special.
