On this episode of Africa In The City, Tracy travels to Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro to explore what it means to be black in the country today. Although more and more Brazilians are identifying as black or Afro-Brazilian the county still remains divided along racial lines with many reports highlighting racial inequalities and disadvantages for Afro-Brazilians.

In Rio, Tracy meets with a prominent Candomble priest who discovered that his mission in life is to be a spiritual and political guide for his people. She also travels to an isolated Quilombolas,a former slave territory, to see how the battle for land rights is being fought.
