Did Iggy deserve to win big at the AMAs?
Iggy Azalea Fires Back At Online Haters After AMA
Via Hollywood Life reports:
Iggy Azalea, 24, proved her prowess in the rap game when she picked up not one but two American Music Awards at LA’s Nokia Theatre on Nov. 23. And while she was dominating the night, she couldn’t resist taking a subtle but effective dig at rap rival Eminem, 42. Who’s the realest now, Slim?
Iggy totally rocked the 2014 AMAs, where she performed her singles “Fancy” and “Beg For It” before closing the show with a sexy rendition of “Booty” with Jennifer Lopez. But she was never more badass than when she took the stage to accept the awards for best rap artist and best rap/hip-hop album, shutting out her male counterparts Drake, 28, and Eminem.
“It means so much that I can stand here against Eminem and Drake and come out with this,” an emotional Iggy told the crowd, calling Eminem out while still keeping in classy and focusing on what really matters — the music.
“This award is the first award I’ve ever won in my entire life, and [it] means so much to me that it is for best hip-hop, because that’s what inspired me to move to America and pursue my dreams,” Iggy continued. “It’s what helped me when I was a teenager to escape and to get through my life and to better times.” We love you, Iggy!
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Eminem threatened to rape Iggy in his disturbing new song “Vegas,” rapping: “So swallow my pride you’re lucky just to follow my ride. If I let you run alongside the Humvee. Unless you’re Nicki, grab you by the wrist, let’s ski. So what’s it gon’ be? Put that s*** away Iggy. You don’t wanna blow that rape whistle on me. Scream! I love it. ‘Fore I get lost with the gettin’ off.”
Many music fans felt like Iggy didn’t deserve to win the award and fired shots at the Aussie rapper via social media:
