Here is what BET founder and Clinton supporter, Robert Johnson, said about Barack Obama today at a Black church in South Carolina:

“As an African American, I’m frankly insulted that the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Bill and Hillary Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood that I won’t say what he was doing but he said it in his book,” Johnson said while campaigning with Clinton in Columbia South Carolina.

Although he later tried to clean up what he said, he is obviously referring to Obama’s admitted drug use. How many other negroes support is for sale?

  • .

Stop saying your “First” you losers…

  • huhsaywhat?

Bob has a right to support whichever candidate he chooses, but this is the first time I’ve ever heard him speak on anything “as an African American”..lol. Bob has always been known to be more about the $$ more than the African American community. Any former BET employee can tell you that.

I commend Barack for his honesty. Perhaps if he had allowed the media to air his dirty laundry, denied it publicly, only to recant his statements at a later date, then Bob Johnson would have more respect for him.

  • crazy black lady

I GUESS THE POLLS ARE RIGHT. OBAMA IS LEADING HILLARY. THIS SOUNDS DESPERATE….GO

I am so tired of all the mud-slinging. I know that it is a part of politics, but I would rather chose who I am going to vote for by what they believe, what they might change and if they really will help everyone. Hearing Bob Johnson’s comment is not surprising. Upper class blacks who have interest to protect will do all they can. He has a right to support whom he wants, but it shows what is really wrong in our communities. Instead of leting the person who should have handle it, i.e. The Clinton Campaign, he took it upon himself to speak on something that has nothing to do with him. Why must we continue to tear down another man??? Cause Bill told you too. I ageree with the previous comment about him. BET stated out as a great network that should have uplifted us and given us a reason to be proud of all that we are, now it’s a joke so thank you Mr. Johnson we know that your only concerned with the almighty dollar. To all voting in this election, really think about the person your voting for and do your research, don’t do it just becuse you think Bill Clinton was the 1st Black president(what a joke) or because some so-called black leader told you this or that person was the right one to chose. Stop playing into all the myths about what might happen if we happen to have a black president. Hopefully we will elect the right person for the job and who will get our country on the right track. Peace and Blessings to us all.

Listen folks, this what its all about. Its crunch time its about winning the presidency right? What ever it takes to get into the white house that’s what she will do. Hillary Clinton is a winner and nothing is going to stop her. When it comes down to you or her its going to be her. And I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that people have to decide if that’s the type of person we want in the oval office. I just wish people would see her for who and what she is. This is the type of thing I have always told people about democrats especially the Clintons. They WILL SAY ANYTHING to get elected!! What does Martin Luther King have to with 2008!!?? I don’t like Hillary Clinton because she feels that in order to get the black vote she has to go to a bunch of black churches in the south make a couple of references about slavery, king ,and civil rights and talk like a preacher then WHAM BAM black people vote for her. And WHO IS BOB JOHNSON!!! ……OH YEAH HE’S THE GUY WHO SOLD THE ONLY BLACK CHANNEL TO VIACOM!! LOL WAKE UP PEOPLE PLEASE!!!This is just another tactic to keep the african-american race divisive!I dont know about you but I hope ONE day we can all stick together AGAIN!!!!

  • Little Wing

He didn’t sell BET to whites, he sold it to JEWS which is alot worse.

I wonder how long the media is going to continue to give Hillary a free pass on this. Since losing Iowa she and her husband have consistently employed dirty tactics to attack Sen. Obama while his camp has taken the high road and generally refused to respond in kind. He has repeatedly stated that all the candidates are patriots while Hillary has invoked the failed terrorist attack in France to imply that the nation may be more vulnerable to terrorist attack if Obama is elected. These are Rovian tactics.

We saw it again today on Meet The Press. Rather than simply respond directly to or apologize for the alarming pattern of subtle racially motivated attacks hurled at Sen. Obama (speculating an implied drug dealing past may be exploited by the Republicans, Andrew Cuomo’s Shuckin’& Jivin’ remark, Pres. Clinton referring to Sen. Obama as a ‘kid’, Clinton folks stating that voting for Obama would be akin to supporting a ‘hip Black friend’, condescendingly referring to Sen. Obama as a good speaker), she instead decided to insist that the Obama campaign is responsible for all of this.

Hillary’s implication that the outrage the African American community has voiced regarding the racially charged remarks of her campaign is some sort of manifestation of an Obama campaign strategy is almost just as insulting as her recent comments. It is as if the Clinton campaign believes African Americans are not able to think for themselves and can only take cues and do what they’re told rather than think independently.

Whatever happened to personal accountability? Just apologize for the gaffs and move forward. No matter who you prefer in this race I think we can all agree that Americans are tired of leaders who refuse to accept responsibility for their actions. Hillary’s recent posturing and stubbornness to admit wrongdoing is eerily similar to that of George W. Bush. No wonder Karl Rove seems to be endorsing her candidacy.

As for all of the ignorant posts to come on this board proclaiming Obama is a terrorist or that Bill CLinton is “our black” president…your bigotry speaks volumes about your lack of intelligence and your gullible nature. You should be ashamed to call yourself an American; I know I am certainly embarrassed for you.I dont understand why WE want a monoploy over American gov’t….8 years of Clinton+ 8 years of Bush + 8 MORE years of CLINTONS…OMG their time is soooo up!!!!!

In theory the media controls everything, therefore Bob Johnson controls us

At the same time, in theory the president controls everything, therefore Barack Obama could potentially control us

So the question is, does Bob Johnson see this as a battle to be the most powerful black man in America?

  • silversurfer

As any person who has an interest in History and Military Tactics would tell you, (as I have said Months ago on this Blog) this is Text Book “Divide and Conquer” Strategy first utilized in recorded Roman Empire tactics.

Hilary even Blames the Obama Campaign for comments SHE MADE reducing Dr Martin Luther King’s (and notice, she never called him Doctor, even though WE ALL KNOW HE EARNED THAT RIGHT) role in the Civil Rights Struggle.

Also note that so-called Blacks on her side are doing it for potential future Financial Gain. (Magic & Bob Johnson, among others)

Hilary is losing, she knows it,and it is starting to show.

Y’all know YT can’t handle Pressure, and will DO ANYTHING to attain/keep Power.

So-Called “Dumb People of the South” are not so dumb anymore!

I believe Senator Obama will win BIG in S. Carolina, and elsewhere.

I could not have said it better myself – sell out. He always had been BET was always a crappy network that did not pay its employees crap. Bob sold out to the white man (viacom), got his cash, lost half to his wife (LOL) and now continues on the path to being the asshole that we all now he is.

you don’t have to vote for Obama because he’s black. Vote for Obama because he passionately cares about our country. Vote for Obama because he cares about the environment and has passed legislation in favor of energy friendly environment plans. Vote for Obama because he cares about the working poor, the working middle class and the average everyday man. Vote for Obama because he’s spent four years in senate not taking lobbyists money and not using the status quo of politics to bring change. Vote for Obama from the issues he discusses in the debates. These are reasons to vote for Obama and not just because he’s black as clearly most of you lost sheep use as a constant excuse to be against him. FYI: The only reason why Hillary Clinton will fight(dirty) tooth and nail for this election is that she rather die than see a black man be president and see a black man win over her, a white woman. Her whole notion of campaigning is ‘how dare a black man win a caucus, how dare a black man defeat her. For the lost sheep: PLease stop calling Bilter and HItlery the first black president. The rest of the free world laugh at our stupidity and ignorance. Get out of the “if it ain’t white, it ain’t right mentality”. I hope there’s many more protests in the media her derogatory comment on DR.King

IF jews said “i don’t have to support him just because he’s a Jew”, they wouldn’t own the media today.

IF ITALIANS said “I don’t have to support him because he’s Italian” they wouldn’t own most of the classic eateries and pizzerias today

IF the GREEKS said “I don’t have to support him because he’s Greek” they wouldn’t own millions of diners across the U.S today

    The Immigrant Irish stood together,

    The Immigrant Asian stood together,

    The Immigrant Mexican stood together,

But BLACK PEOPLE will forever stand behind the white man to lead them.

But the one chance and maybe the only chance we’ll ever have to have a serious black presidential candidate run for the white house, we let him down.

Every race, every culture knew that they had to stand on thier own peoples shoulder to get to the top, to make their civilization last a life time.

@Gem2001 excellent post and on point. Marcus Garvey was so right about these so called educated black men. pathetic bunch of coons, Obama, Hillary it does not matter the political game is just that a game, they don’t call it politricks for nothing. as for bet no sane black person would be caught dead watching that tripe, he should be shot for every having anything to do with that atrocity he called black entertainment. he goes down in the black hall of shame.

and what black issues have mr. and mrs. clinton been involved in again? this negro ain’t got no idea what he’s talking about…

  • Nene

Sorry, but Obama’s got this election in the bag. His grassroots campaigning is SICK and taking over. I’ve never ever been THIS excited about politics, and learning about the candidates, etc. Barack Obama inspires and excites us to want to get up and make a real difference. That alone is fundamentally what will ultimately turn America around. Can’t you see that? Young people are getting involved left and right because of Obama, and when he wins the presidency we’ll all just smile and shout

    “YES WE DID!”

No Obamamania from Michigan GOP Chair

    By Juliet Eilperin

TAYLOR, Mich. — Michigan GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis has a new nickname for Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.): “pet rock.”

Speaking to a gathering of GOP stalwarts tonight, Anuzis conceded the presidential hopeful was loveable and popular. But that just makes him, in Anuzis’ eyes, “the pet rock of the 2008 campaign.”

“At the end of the day, we’re going to figure out it’s just a rock,” Anuzis told the crowd, prompting a few laughs. “He’s just another typical liberal senator who wants to be president of the United States.”

No telling which Democratic presidential candidate will earn the nickname “Chia Pet” in the days to come.

  • WeSSide Eviscer8r

HUMOR YOURSELF IN ’08….vote for B.O. as if it matters!

  • persona

And, who cares what Bob Johnson has to say? BET is a disgrace.

  • tj

It should be no surprise that the head of BET supports the Clintons. Both entities base their brand on the supposition that black people are ignorant and prosper in their endeavors because black folks have no other option.

Well now we have Obama. This positive powerful poignant black man undermines the strong hold these 3 ugly figures have on our community.

So no surprise here. None at all.

  • capila

The media, Obama and some others are crossing the line saying that Clintons are racist. You can say other things if you want, but not this. I am happy not all African Americans are buying this low propaganda. Give them credit for what they did right. Hillary was always supportive of civil rights movement since she was a student, and Bill Clinton was not called the ‘black president’ for nothing. I am happy they stand against insinuations from.. whoever.. I want to know what Obama did for the black community other than being half black.

  • capila

last time i checked every us citizen has a right to vote for whom ever they want

and i think is racist to suggest all black people

should barack obama just because he is black

  • B

We seem to be at the point where there are now two credible possibilities. One is that the Clinton campaign is intentionally pursuing a strategy of using surrogates to hit Obama with racially-charged language or with charges that while not directly tied to race nonetheless play to stereotypes about black men. The other possibility is that the Clinton campaign is extraordinarily unlucky and continually finds its surrogates stumbling on to racially-charged or denigrating language when discussing Obama.

Bob Johnson’s claim that he wasn’t referring to Obama’s admitted youthful drug use is too silly to even repeat. Indeed, the logic of his remarks make no sense if he was referring to Obama’s time as a community organizer.

Let’s review what Johnson said …

And to me, as an African-American, I am frankly insulted that the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Hillary and Bill Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues since Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood – and I won’t say what he was doing, but he said it in the book – when they have been involved.

Now, the clear logic of this statement is that the Clintons were fighting the good fight back when Obama was just off goofing off. Being a community organizer is like the epitome of engaged involvement in community issues. So Johnson’s statement literally makes no sense if it’s a reference to Obama’s time as a community organizer. So Johnson should just shut up or be a man and admit that it was a reference to Obama’s admitted youthful drug use.

And if it’s community organizing, why is it unmentionable?

  • Kdogg

I agree Heather. The numbers were pre-vote polls and exit polls painted a very different picture than the outcome would show on the democratic side as well.

  • Kdogg

    …the pre-vote and exit poll numbers….sigh.

  • Shameful

I am so tired of these bought and paid for old ass relics from the civil rights era hatin on Barack. Even if Johnson supports Hilary, he should have more respect as a black man not to attack another. I would spit in his face. Bob Johnson has hurt the black community far more than any other person of color in power. He may not have been responsible but he allowed it on his channel. He disgusts me.

  • B

When will people understand that Barack Obama is not this down-to-earth person he makes himself out to be? He is a money grubbing lawyer just like Hillary Clinton, he voted to extend the Patriot Act, he only gives $1,000 to charity a year, and his wife falsely claims to work for a non-profit hospital. Sorry, I live in Illinois. He abandoned us as a Senator and then just decided to run for president. He voted in support of the war until he announced he was running for president. Also, lack of experience and he is too young. We need an older person for once. All these younger presidents have messed up the country. RON PAUL! He is the only person that has consistently voted against this war as a Congressman. Plus, he is a doctor not a money grubbing lawyer. He worked at a Charity hospital for $3 dollars an hour. He is an OB gyn too. He must love women and I think he is more of a candidate for women than Hillary Clinton.

  • B

Also, he is in support of medical marijuana. He is the only person smart enough to realize that we need to stop being the world police.

  • B

@ Al Sharpton- The news networks are just out to get Dr. Paul because he tells it like it is. Rupert Murdoch and all the neocons have it out for him.

  • boginja

why are black people so stupid and hate each other so much?

they’ll forever allow themselves to be used by white people, what a shame and pity

  • optimus

come on people, you can even endorse Edwards, if obama is not electable but Bush+Clinton+Clinton+Bush+Bush = 20 years… do we want 4 more years of that i mean some people voting for the first time have never seen america with a president that is nore a bush or a clinton… I can’t believe it’s happening in the country that want to export democracy in the middle east???

Twenty years of Bush-Clinton monopoly isn’t it time for a real change?

  • Nene

John Marshall, you took the thoughts right out of my head.

    Obama ’08.

  • Bohwe

People are want to believe what they want to believe, but Obama has done alot for the community. Look at the man’s history, he was a lawyer, and has always served the black inner city community of his state. I’m tired of the bashing but at this point, the Dem canidate has already been chose. So why even debate? The Electoral College determines the next President. We are fighting for nothing. Remember the Bush/Gore drama.

  • Mona

Gem2001…ditto is all i can say. I’m really stunned. Not that he supports Clinton, he has that right. But that he would degrade one of his own in a church pulpit. He’s being used, and allowing it. He’s saying what the Clinton’s can’t for fear of appearing racist. And to act all high and mighty and holier than thou when the network he began peddles such mindless filth. I mean other than making money for himself and bringing down the race a few hundred notches, really what has he or his network done for black America? True, some artists got a start they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. But overall his station carves images into the brains of our young women, making them think a big ass will get you further than a degree and sending the message to young men that the streets are a better place to be than the classroom… and he has the nerve to talk? He’s an Uncle Ruckus if i ever did see one.

Why are black folks so quick to give black men a pass? This black smut peddler (sp) created, promoted and made billions off exploiting the black underclass.

Bob Johnson HAS ALSO dabbled in drug use. Everybody knows about his cocaine game! When he was married he phucked everything that was moving except his wife. He paid slave wages to his employees. This guy is the devil. Black people wake the phuck up! Bob Johnson is an uncle tom negro! He has no problems selling out is own kind. Just like he portrayed negative images of black people, he’s now doing that to Obama. This negro makes me sick. Please somebody whip his ass!!!

I don’t understand why people think support means knock the other candidate down…yes I believe he’s on the payroll and I don’t really support BET anymore anyways sinced they cancelled all the positive shows like teen summit and replaced it with stupidity such as hell date…I even saw 1 week the movie “Leprachaun..Back to the Hood”…just making black people look so ignorant…He dare talks about Obama’s drug use….what about his…and what about his infidelity to his wife that got him paying millions out the pocket…..makes me sick!

I think Hills is blowing it right now. I was an undecided voter, but she has eliminated herself from my choices with her recent silly statements. First she makes the MLK misstep and now she has pushed Bob Johnson in our faces to slander Barack and then tries to clean that up. It’s clear she doesn’t know how to relate to black people like all the rest. I have no use for her at this point.

  • Common Sense

Senator Clinton has issues! .She runs as a feminist, but claims her husband’s experience as her own…She votes in favor of the Iraq War and refuses to admit she made a mistake (sounds like Bush)… and finally, SHE says something ill-advised about MLK, and then says that Obama tried to spin it into something negative, even though he hasn’t publicly commented on her statements…Why do people still support this woman?

  • Lady Architect

I really think Hillary is running scared at the moment cause she knows Barack has a chance…if it wasn’t for Bill…nobody would know about Hillary despite all her “experience”…she’s buying out as many African American moguls she can find cause she has no faith in her campaign anymore….suddenly she’s taking Obama’s words talking bout change now?…I’m a woman, but I’m sorry I can’t vote for a woman that breaks down crying in the middle of her campaign….not enough backbone to be in the big seat…..all her experience shows me nothing…and there’s people that have had years experience before and still can’t do their job correctly.

He’s not even a loyal American Citizen, he needs to go run another country because he is not a true American. I just cant believe some people would even consider him running for president?? How can someone run America when they don’t even follow tradition?! I mean really what is that, he can’t be serious! try this it might work(to see the actual picture)

  • CYNTHIA

guess it didn’t work.I’ll try it again,it will be after these dots… )

  • TRUTH

For those that wanted to know what he’s done for the AA community…..

“I’m in this race for the same reason that I fought for jobs for the jobless and hope for the hopeless on the streets of Chicago; for the same reason I fought for justice and equality as a civil rights lawyer; for the same reason that I fought for Illinois families for over a decade… That’s why I’m running, Democrats — to keep the American Dream alive for those who still hunger for opportunity, who still thirst for equality.” quote from Barack Obama

We are electing judgment and character, not years on this Earth. Obama “brings the lessons of the neighborhood, the lessons of the Legislature and the lessons of his own life to that awesome challenge” of filling the Oval Office…quote from a supporter

  • http://gorgeousblackwomen.blogspot.com/ Gorgeous Black Women

Republicans don’t need to do anything to win elections because Democrats will bring down themselves. While McCain, Huckabee, Romney and then are mostly attacking the Democrats now, the Democrats are attacking each other.

Also, Hillary = devil and black man = sellout doesn’t help the situation. Hillary is not the devil. Mr. Johnson is not a sellout for this comment. He is a hypocrite (see Black Exploitation Television) and for almost 15 years now, he’s been selling out black people via BET. I know he doesn’t own it anymore and he’s not leading it, but his former ingenue is in charge. The difference is that while programming at BET was better when he was heading it, it still featured many negative portrayals of blacks and idolization of drug dealing and drug use. Debra Lee just erased damn near everything good on there and added a great deal of coonery for the mostly young Caucasian audience to appreciate. I hate to trash black people and women in high places (and I especially hate to trash black women in high places), but to me, she is worse than the Paramount people making more money off of said exploitation. To portray black people, especially her fellow black women, in such a negative light is a lot worse than having few portrayals of black women in mainstream media. If it were CBS or NBC putting this garbage on, far more people would be upset and boycotting it. It’s a double slap in the face.

For the light of me, I want to know why Obama using drugs when he was young and had no idea of what his future is going to bring relevant to what he is doing now..Bob Johnson is seriously reaching on this one. Besides, didnt Clinton say he didnt “inhale” but had marijuana (which totally makes no sense to anyone why have weed if not going to take a toke)

  • tlatrice (Take That Pic Of Lil Kim Down!)

take the pic of lil’ kim’s cooch down!

  • ChinaBowls

Roxy and John Marshall are on point. I’m starting to think America, including Black America, is not ready for an African-American to run this race. When did we get so cowardly and self-serving? O yea, we have always been this way…. why we will never progress as an entity.

  • Jenny

Since when are we supposed to feel obligated vote for candidates that have the same color skin as our own? If you use that logic, all of us white folks would be taking away votes from Obama and giving them to Clinton and Edwards. There’d be no chance of him winning. So stop making it all about skin color. Black people can support white candidates, white people can support black candidates. Oh, and have you forgotten that Obama is half white? Or are people supposed to dismiss half of his ancestry, just like we were supposed to with Tiger Woods?

  • africanT

Ok. This man called Bob Johnson just disgraced himself! People, I think you should calm down. Barack should be voted in not because he’s capable he’s shown he’s ready to serve the country. For Hilary, this is a do or die affair. I doubt whether she has the country’s heart at heart!
