Here is what BET founder and Clinton supporter, Robert Johnson, said about Barack Obama today at a Black church in South Carolina:
“As an African American, I’m frankly insulted that the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Bill and Hillary Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood that I won’t say what he was doing but he said it in his book,” Johnson said while campaigning with Clinton in Columbia South Carolina.
Although he later tried to clean up what he said, he is obviously referring to Obama’s admitted drug use. How many other negroes support is for sale?

Today Bob Johnson, founder of (BET)Black Exploitation Television, made comments about Senator Barack Obama while campaigning with Senator Hillary Clinton in South Carolina, in her quest to become President of the United States. Of all the people she could have stood side by side with today, why Bob Johnson? On the eve of the possibility of electing the first African American or woman as President of the United States, why on earth would Hillary Clinton *****ociate herself with a man that has spent his life’s work trying to profit of the exploitation of African Americans, African American women and girls in particular?
Bob Johnson stands for everything Hillary Clinton OUGHT to be against. This man single-handedly set the cause of African Americans back hundreds of years. His exploitation of Black women and girls is particularly morally repugnant. Hillary Clinton is supposed to be a defender of the American worker, yet Bob Johnson made his billions at Black Entertainment Television by notoriously paying his on air talent slave wages.
To be sitting up in a the pulpit of a Black church grinning and laughing side by side with this multimedia crack cocaine dealer and pimp is the slap in the face of every Black woman and girl in this country.
Instead of repeating Bob Johnson’s comments on Senator Obama wholesale, reporters should be asking him about the cir*****stances under which his wife and BET cofounder left the company. They should ask him about his “relations” with the female executives at his company. They should ask him why his own sister allegedly sued him and whether Johnson properly paid his taxes. All of these issues are raised in Johnson’s biography, The Billion-Dollar Bet. Bob Johnson is not an African American leader, he is a bottom feeder.
Let us not forget that for SIX YEARS Bob Johnson skirting broadcasting rules to broadcast some of the most vile disgusting depictions of African American women in cable television history. BET’s “ Uncut “ featured such cultural gems as:

Bob has a right to support whichever candidate he chooses, but this is the first time I’ve ever heard him speak on anything “as an African American”..lol. Bob has always been known to be more about the $$ more than the African American community. Any former BET employee can tell you that.

I am so tired of all the mud-slinging. I know that it is a part of politics, but I would rather chose who I am going to vote for by what they believe, what they might change and if they really will help everyone. Hearing Bob Johnson’s comment is not surprising. Upper cl***** blacks who have interest to protect will do all they can. He has a right to support whom he wants, but it shows what is really wrong in our communities. Instead of leting the person who should have handle it, i.e. The Clinton Campaign, he took it upon himself to speak on something that has nothing to do with him. Obama (speculating an implied drug dealing past may be exploited by the Republicans, Andrew Cuomo’s Shuckin’& Jivin’ remark, Pres. Clinton referring to Sen. Obama as a ‘kid’, Clinton folks stating that voting for Obama would be akin to supporting a ‘hip Black friend’, condescendingly referring to Sen. Obama as a good speaker), she instead decided to insist that the Obama campaign is responsible for all of this.
Hillary’s implication that the outrage the African American community has voiced regarding the racially charged remarks of her campaign is some sort of manifestation of an Obama campaign strategy is almost just as insulting as her recent comments. It is as if the Clinton campaign believes African Americans are not able to think for themselves and can only take cues and do what they’re told rather than think independently.
Whatever happened to personal accountability? Just apologize for the gaffs and move forward. No matter who you prefer in this race I think we can all agree that Americans are tired of leaders who refuse to accept responsibility for their actions. Hillary’s recent posturing and stubbornness to admit wrongdoing is eerily similar to that of George W. Bush. No wonder Karl Rove seems to be endorsing her candidacy.
As for all of the ignorant posts to come on this board proclaiming Obama is a terrorist or that Bill CLinton is “our black” president…your bigotry speaks volumes about your lack of intelligence and your gullible nature. Speaking to a gathering of GOP stalwarts tonight, Anuzis conceded the presidential hopeful was loveable and popular. But that just makes him, in Anuzis’ eyes, “the pet rock of the 2008 campaign.”
“At the end of the day, we’re going to figure out it’s just a rock,” Anuzis told the crowd, prompting a few laughs. “He’s just another typical liberal senator who wants to be president of the United States.”

I don’t see where Bossip suggested that all Black people should vote for Obama.
I think this thread has less to do with whom Rob is voting for and more to do with his comments against Obama. Bossip has a right to have an opinion, too.
We seem to be at the point where there are now two credible possibilities. One is that the Clinton campaign is intentionally pursuing a strategy of using surrogates to hit Obama with racially-charged language or with charges that while not directly tied to race nonetheless play to stereotypes about black men. The other possibility is that the Clinton campaign is extraordinarily unlucky and continually finds its surrogates stumbling on to racially-charged or denigrating language when discussing Obama.
Bob Johnson’s claim that he wasn’t referring to Obama’s admitted youthful drug use is too silly to even repeat. Indeed, the logic of his remarks make no sense if he was referring to Obama’s time as a community organizer.
Let’s review what Johnson said …
And to me, as an African-American, I am frankly insulted that the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Hillary and Bill Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues since Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood – and I won’t say what he was doing, but he said it in the book – when they have been involved.
Now, the clear logic of this statement is that the Clintons were fighting the good fight back when Obama was just off goofing off. Being a community organizer is like the epitome of engaged involvement in community issues. So Johnson’s statement literally makes no sense if it’s a reference to Obama’s time as a community organizer. So Johnson should just shut up or be a man and admit that it was a reference to Obama’s admitted youthful drug use.
And if it’s community organizing, why is it unmentionable?

WASHINGTON (CNN) — A series of newsletters in the name of GOP presidential hopeful Ron Paul contain several racist remarks — including one that says order was restored to Los Angeles after the 1992 riots when blacks went “to pick up their welfare checks.”
This is a copy of one of the “Ron Paul Political Report” newsletters, which has stirred controversy.
1 of 2 CNN recently obtained the newsletters — written in the 1990s and one from the late 1980s — after a report was published about their existence in The New Republic.
None of the newsletters CNN found says who wrote them, but each was published under Paul’s name between his stints as a U.S. congressman from Texas.

The controversial newsletters include rants against the Israeli lobby, gays, AIDS victims and Martin Luther King Jr. — described as a “pro-Communist philanderer.” One newsletter, from June 1992, right after the LA riots, says “order was only restored in L.A. when it came time for the blacks to pick up their welfare checks.”
Another says, “The criminals who terrorize our cities — in riots and on every non-riot day — are not exclusively young black males, but they largely are. As children, they are trained to hate whites, to believe that white oppression is responsible for all black ills, to ‘fight the power,’ to steal and loot as much money from the white enemy as possible.”
In some excerpts, the reader may be led to believe the words are indeed from Paul, a resident of Lake Jackson, Texas. In the “Ron Paul Political Report” from October 1992, the writer describes carjacking as the “hip-hop thing to do among the urban youth who play unsuspecting whites like pianos.”
The author then offers advice from others on how to avoid being carjacked, including “an ex-cop I know,” and says, “I frankly don’t know what to make of such advice, but even in my little town of Lake Jackson, Texas, I’ve urged everyone in my family to know how to use a gun in self defense. For the animals are coming.”
In his interview with CNN, Paul said that’s language he would never use. “People who know me, *****ody is going to believe this,” he said. “That’s just not my language. It’s not my life.”
He added, “Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Ghandi, they’re the heroes [of my life].”
Matt Welch, the editor-in-chief of “Reason” magazine who shares some of Paul’s beliefs on big government, says he has never heard the congressman make racist comments like those in the newsletters.
“What I think some people are looking for him to do is to say, ‘OK, who wrote that?’ I mean, there’s 20 years, give or take, worth of newsletters there,” Welch said.
Paul said the editor of publications “is responsible for daily activities.” But he also cited “transition” and “changes” and said that some people were hired to write stories “but I didn’t know their names.”
The presidential hopeful described the newsletter revelations as a “rehash” of old material dug up by his opponents because he is gaining ground with black voters due to his stance against the war in Iraq and the war on drugs.
“I am the anti-racist because I am the only candidate — Republican or Democrat — who would protect the minority against these vicious drug laws,” he said.

Republicans don’t need to do anything to win elections because Democrats will bring down themselves. While McCain, Huckabee, Romney and then are mostly attacking the Democrats now, the Democrats are attacking each other.

The difference is that while programming at BET was better when he was heading it, it still featured many negative portrayals of blacks and idolization of drug dealing and drug use. I hate to trash black people and women in high places (and I especially hate to trash black women in high places), but to me, she is worse than the Paramount people making more money off of said exploitation.
