According to a recent rumor, Lauryn Hill’s stacks have significantly fell back over the years:
Sources say Hill was living in the Caribbean for a while as the mother of four children by Rohan Marley, son of the late Bob Marley. But now, insiders say, Hill is living in New Jersey with her mother — and the four kids — and may be in significant debt. Her only big solo hit album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” was released 10 years ago, if you can believe it.
Poor thang, let’s hope she gets some help, she had a grip of talent to bring to the game.

This story is not true. The original source of this came from Roger Friedman who interviewed none other than Wyclef after his Jimmy Kimmel appearanc for Fox News. Wyclefs lying ***** has tried everything possible to tarnish Laury and she still is not giving his ***** the time of day. On the radio begging her to respond to his dumb *****. He better be worrying about hisself. He has ben sued and brought under investigation for steroids all within a week.
People Lauryn write and produces her music along with that of others. She will never be broke with the success of the albums she has put out. So, please don’t worry about her. Not hating or acting perfect, but when will folks learn that a person who cheats on their spouse/partner will also cheat on their ‘piece’ ? I’d heard the story that he slept with her cousin, but i didn’t know she went back to him. That’s deep. If that’s true, Rohan must have the staph of life between his legs. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but people can blow thru a lot more money than Lauren Hill has. Examples: Whitney Houston, MC Hammer (yes, that fool was worth over 200 million, and ended up broke). And guess what, Michael F-ing Jackson is having his ***** foreclosed on, and you KNOW he had *****loads more money than Lauren Hill. I do think there is some mental illness and maybe drugs involved.

Here are some facts. Ms. Hill does not have a home in Miami but she did blow alot of money on real estate and production there from 1999 to 2003. Rohan Does live in Ethiopia, since Sept 07 but he Does Not make 75G’s a month off Bob’s estate royalties ..maybe that inna year now depending on sales and infringement lawsuites. The “estate” earnings are divided between 12 parties (11 children equally and wife Rita at higher % ) Ms. Hill has been “in debt” to her label (for many years now) they have advanced her in upwards of 7 figures for production expenses, living expenses, etc hoping to get another CD close to Miseducation. She has mis managed her funds/royalties for years so has Rohan. His clothing line has not done very well. She is pregnant with Rohan’s 5th child. They are not together – more off then on for the past 5 years. She is living in the home she purchased for her parents in 1997 in South Orange. Hopefully she paid the mortgage off on that a long time ago but probably not. Her last tour summer 2007 was in the deficit – here and overseas- many fans demanded refunds/and/or walked out in disappointment. Promoters lost their shirts. She was always late, ran into production overtime, had ridiculous concert ryder demands and traveled with a unnecessarily large loud band to hide her loss of voice. Her tour was a hustle for $’s as the heart & soul was Gone. Yes she HAS made a fortune and is still a gifted song writer. Unfortunately when you have funds coming in like that from a young age and clouded mentality (not listening to management or financial advisory, etc.) $’s are spent on big ticket items & frivolities without a second thought of the future, thinking that the flow will continue 4ever. Even today, in her present state, she could be writing 2 songs a year for top artists and getting paid enough to have a very comfortable living ….and remain in musical exile. Sadly Clef is right about anything he has stated in his interviews he is also concerned and has tried to contact her through her mother many times. Lauryn has much to feel blessed about with great parents and beautiful children and millions of fans just waiting for her to record again. May her demons release her soon.

Well people warned her ***** about *****ing with those Marley boys…I am jamaican and we all know the Marley Men will drive your ***** to the crazy house…jamaican men are notorious for being cheaters…And to clarify Bob Marley had 23 kids!!!! the 11 we hear about are just that…the 11 we hear about…and Rita only had 4 for him..it’s been a long rumor in Jamaica that his infidelity is what killed him…Rita arugued with him to stop cheating and having all these kids and he KICKED her, and jamaicans we believe in karma very strong, and she was said to say “with that foot you kicked me with, is the same foot your gonna die with” and then a few months later he is diagnosed with cancer in his toe! And few months after that his is dead.. The story is more involved than that (involving obia witch doctors etc) Ok I’m off on a tangent….My point is her career fell the ***** off once she got with dude, clearly he has control over this situation, and her mind wasn’t right in the first place to get down with him or any man so thus they *****ed her head up and when your mind is *****ed over a man, BABY PLEASE, it’s gonna take hell and high water to pull you out!!! Good grief. How far we’ve fallen…
I really hope she’s not as broke as has been reported here – though insolvency is a far greater possibility than many of you acknowledge. I don’t care HOW MANY albums she sold – it’s STILL possible to burn through all that money, especially if you’re buying homes in multiple locales, caring for four kids. Hill used to sponsor a tutorial/mentoring program at my church; that was one of MANY charitable endeavors she supported during her heyday. unless she knew from jump that she had to apportion ehr earnings to insure her financial future, there’s a VERY GOOD chance she’s as broke as some of these bloggers suggest. I think the best examples are Whitney and MJ; their dollars were much longer than Hill’s (especially MJ’s; at one time he had the most lucrative royalty contract in the biz) and yet it’s safe to say they probably only have a fraction of their former wealth. If that can be true for THEM – two stars whose pockets were larger than life – then it can be true for Hill.

OK, ima just be 100% REAL. Now i LOVE LOVE LOVE Lauryn Hill and don’t want to believe she is broke. I don’t see how she could be, but we all know how hollywierd can mess up good people.
What i do want to say is this….These fake not talent hoes that are out now are at least TRYING….Lauryn Has more talent than ANYBODY out right now and she is not using it. Im mad at that. Her voice is not a voice that was meant to be in exile. It was meant to be shared and meant to bring people closer to God (which it has done and still does for me). I think it is blatant irresponsibility for her not to use her voice for good. Imagine if Rhianna had Lauryn’s voice (god forbid)….She wouldn’t ever shut up…We can’t get Lauryn to speak, let alone sing…Think of the opportunity that she has and is not using…Im her biggest fan, but im starting to grow resentment for her. What is she gonna tell God when she meets him…Lord, they didn’t like what i had to say, so i gave up….Are you serious? Get yo ***** back in the studio and use the gift God gave you. (remember the parable about the talents…go figure)
I don’t claim to know all the details, but i don’t think people should rush to hate on her….That said, i think perhaps she THINKS people hate her more than they really do because everyone i know has love for her….even my moms like Lauryn.
Kanye west put it greatly when he said “Who the kids gon listen to.” We need her. i just hope she sees that. If not, God will SURELY raise up someone else with talent, and depth, and integrity.

I’ve read that she has been following the advise of an spriutual advisor (sounds like an unemployed jackleg preacher to me).
Allthough sad, it’w not over. There have been entertainers who were away for 10 (Anita Baker) and 20 (Jimmy Scott & Shirley Horn) years who were able to make comebacks, especially in the jazz field where you don’t have to be young and hot. Plus, it’s not too uncommon for women to leave the field to raise their kids.
She can make it back as TALENT IS TALENT, either you have it or you don’t.
I sure hope that momma can straighten her out. I think that she has some serious post-pardom depression going on. She is so talented. I really hope the she can get it together.
This just makes me want to cry and I have to agree with you, Eric London, it seems like she has just given up, somebody needs to pray for her seriously, I hope she gets the help she needs and I hope that moma of hers is supporting her and not tearing her down, this is a tragedy because Lauren is only 32 years old, I hope she gets the right support and God so she can bless us again with her voice.
