Oprah has inked a deal with Discovery Communication to launch her own cable channel called OWN-Oprah Winfrey Network. Discovery Health Channel will evolve into OWN in 2009 and simulcast in High Definition. Someone needs to put this woman’s face on a $100 bill. She’s unstoppable.

Oh @Island Gal..maybe if you got off the island and went global you would realize some things:
1.oprah is for PEOPLE, black, white whoever
2. her audience is primarily white, because black women are at work trying to maintain for their families…many of us dont have the luxury of disposable incomes from our husbands to be in someones audience during the middle of the day!
3. Her staff is not all white but is like any other staff in corporate America. Lets compare college graduation rates and then ask where all the “black” people are.
4. Who said she was a savior? but real talk..she probably is saving alot of people from some crazy stuff, i.e. domestic violence, did you see the show?
5. And guess what when you make money regardless of how much it is, you choose what to do with it..point blank period.

Could you look at it like this? She’s a public figure so in public she is going to be the woman she should be, which is a great leader, businesswoman, speaker and all the other good things that she does in public. In private she is who she is and why should we fault her for her own personal demons? You have them, I have them, it’s life no one is perfect and I don’t understand why we expect these public figures to be perfect in front of and behind the camera. It’s impossible.
I never understood why someone would want to attack another person on a level in which they themselves are not privy to be apart of. You, just like the millions of other people who “follow” her (for the lack of a better word), don’t really know this woman and until you befriend her, which probably won’t happen you never will. So you can read all the tell all books you want but remember that’s just their interpretation of a situation. No one has live 50+ years as Oprah or understands all of her motives and it’s very unfair for you to believe that you do simply because you read her magazine or watch her TV show. It’s all a show.

Oprah sees “people” and appeals to a wide variety of people.
