The National Enquirer is reporting that this suspect wedding was a fiasco from the jump:
Eddie, 46, and Tracey, 40, invited only family members and a few close friends to celebrate their union, “but it was as if their families hated each other on sight…” Eddie’s mother felt Tracey was a “gold digger,” says the friend – and Tracey’s mother felt Eddie wasn’t “good enough” for her daughter. “The mothers didn’t even want to sit next to each other – even to eat – and it led to both sides of the family squaring off.” According to the source, the situation escalated from an uneasy tension to outright confrontation that included “yelling and cussing.” And this was even before Eddie and Tracey took their vows!
Sounds like some straight FUBU ish right there. SMH.

When people talk about Tracey, it’s usually about her being linked to some man. Tracey doesn’t have a hit prime time drama on a major network. Shonda has two and is about two seasons away from having enough episodes to syndicate Grey’s which will mean big money. Like I said, look at Kimora, even when the divorce comes through, her business will still thrive. Corporate cats will be checkin’ for her. Kimora took a section of her husband’s business and made it just as big as the first business he started, and she didn’t even finish college. So all this “Oh Tracey went to Stanford. She’s so important” BS needs to stop.

You get invitations based on your work that year. So Shonda gets invites to these types of events because her shows are nominated for top industry awards. You can’t say that about Tracey. Bird, she was a real estate agent before she married Babyface. There was an interview in Ebony, once, that talked about how Tracey and Babyface hooked up . . . Supposedly, her mother kept pushing her, but she wasn’t interested. I really doubt that . . . But I do live in the Bay Area, went to school here, and know people who knew Tracey at Stanford. By the way, the fact that she graduated from Stanford also is in that Ebony article.

I myself have my BA, but that piece of paper doesn’t define who I am. Just because Tracey went to Stanford doesn’t mean that she’s not a gold digger. I had already lost respect for Eddie when he called Mel B out the way that he did and then found out the child was his. I lost respect for Tracey because she stayed with Eddie despite the fact that he would not see a child that is his. You don’t need a degree to figure out something is wrong with this man. There are many women that stripped to get through college, but do we change our opinion of them when they get that degree. Tracy and Babyface met on the set of one of his videos which she was in. The real estate angle is news to me.
The fact is I never had an opinion about Tracy one way or the other until she accepted Mel B’s extremely sloppy seconds and made excuses for Eddie’s actions surrounding his youngest child. I was also amazed beyond belief to see her saying “like” a million times like a teenager in that same article that she stuck up for Eddie. That is when I determined she was an airhead dimwit and the same reason you will never convince me she is a college grad. Other than that I thought she was a pretty lucky video ho and I wasn’t mad at her for it.
Even now I have no doubt that the only reason she is not with Eddie is because he dumped her. She was in awe of him and even stated that Eddie and Nicole ran in better circles than her and Babyface. Please read that Essence interview with her and you will see what I mean.

That Shonda’s getting into these A-list events because of her work, not because she’s on someone’s arm? I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but it’s like you can’t make the distinction between the two. I’m saying that Tracey’s work as a film producer hasn’t earned her an invitation to the Oscars, Emmy’s, Golden Globes, etc. I’m not saying that the only way that she can LITERALLY get to the awards show is if a man brings her simply because she’s female. In my opinion, just because one is more critically acclaimed than the other it doesn’t follow that one is better or smarter or more successful. Now if you wish to ride Shonda’s come trail, that is your right. But the fact still remains, that Tracey can marry a success, thus furthering her career and ambitions in becoming a successful multi media producer, while Shonda, albeit a talented writer, had to work extra hard to attain her success.
Given the choice of having to work hard from the ground up to attain success or marrying a successful mate who can open doors to further ones ambitions, trust me Kara, most people will choose to be in that loooong line.

The “industry” and access to it is not simply driven by talent or looks alone. Other factors include connections, personality, the “it” factor and other intangibles. Stars and star makers are only as big and memorable as their last big hit, release or production.

I meant no such thing. You’re projecting…And also you’re mistaking Shonda’s commercial success with artistic success. Just because Grey’s Anatomy is a ratings success, doesn’t mean that it’s high art…And as i stated earlier, the entertainment industry has a “WHO YOU KNOW” symbiotic component. 99% of the time, one can’t just walk through the door to pitch a project. Where would Kimora be without her (then) husbands’ money and backing to get Phat Pharm/Baby Phat off the ground? Tyra, Cindy, Heidi were super models first. Their looks got them through the door, thus giving them access to certain advantages and resources that the average aspiring entrepreneur doesn’t have. And as far as labeling Tracy’s work as mediocre, well that’s a matter of opinion. I personally enjoyed Hav’ Plenty and Soul Food the movie and the subsequent Showtime series, which i might add, during its’ first four seasons, was Showtime’s top rated program. You can’t begrudge a person for marrying a successful person and not taking advantage of some of the perks that comes along with it.

I have watched these shows and in the audience I have seen everyday people (you know those folks that sit waay in the balcony) a matter of fact a few years back I know of people that have actually been guests at one of these “events” that are far from being any kind of celebrity who flew from MD to Calif to attend. I said that to say if a “peon” that is not in the industry can get an invite then I know that someone who’s got some connections, maybe not tons of them can get an invitation to an award show, and I mean a personal invitation because she had dealt with and produced some movies or what not whether it was what “we” think is successful or not.

oh yeah if Shonda has all that going on why couldn’t she keep Isaiah Washington on the show, that shows she don’t have that much pull if any.

And another thing. Kornikova was pegged for greatness, and as for her being a better player than Sharapova, that’s not true. Shara’s game is mainly groundstrokes. I’m a tennis fan. Kornikova had all the weapons. She could serve and volley, attack the baseline, all of it. Kornikova was so good as a junior that she got an Adidas edorsement at 11, which was years earlier than Sharapova’s, but Kornikova’s fame and attention got in the way of her prowess on the court, something Maria has been careful not to let happen. Girls with more drive and determination wanted it more. It wasn’t because Kornikova was a lesser player than Sharapova. And another thing. If you don’t like Grey’s that’s fine. the 25 million plus viewers who tune in every thursday beg to differ, and the major awards that the show garners would also suggest that Grey’s is high art.

How am i making excuses for Tracey’s work, that you perceive to be mediocre? Me defending her and her art should be self-explanatory on how i feel about her work…And how is it mediocre? Just because her endeavors thus far hasn’t garnered the ratings and monetary returns of Gray’s Anatomy, doesn’t take away from its’ artistic merits. Are you equating ratings and profits with artistic integrity? American Idol drawfs G. A. in ratings and profits. Does that mean that it’s high art? 20 something years ago, The Dukes of Hazards was the top rated show in america. Was that high art?
Kara don’t get it twisted. Gray’s Anatomy is not high art. It’s nothing more than a regurgitated version of E.R., which in turn was a regurgitated version of St. Elsewhere. And as far as awards go, well we all know that, that’s political and subjective…Afterall C.S.I garners a lot of award nominations also, and that show creatively is as bland as vanilla.

As a woman, you should be able to appreciate and empathise with her predicament as not only being extremely beautiful, but trying to be taken serious as a women in a male dominated business environment.
I see some of these women criticizing her for staying the course while Eddie was going through that drama with Mel B., but if you look at it objectively, that had nothing to do with her and Eddie’s situation. Now that may seem cold and callous, but it’s a cold and callous world, and ultimately, she seems like the type of person who lives by the rule: SERVE NO MASTER, BUT YOUR OWN AMBITION…And Kara, these are the type of people that succeed in the long run. Hense Condoleeza Rice. She makes hard unpopular decisions everyday and in all probability, will be vilified in the history books…But that’s the price you pay when you follow your own ambitions. So in closing, that’s why Tracey should be admired. Afterall, she’s a woman in a mans world trying to make her way using the resources at her disposal: BEAUTY, BRAINS AND HER EX’s DIVORCE SETTLEMENT.

Wow. Well, I believe that Tracey has been trying to do the right things, in the right way, but she is in a very difficult industry.
People hate on her because she is quite pretty and she has been able to get with these guys and come up much more easily than others who may be “more talented.”
I think she was, in the way she knows how, trying to do what white women do every day, which is marry well and solidify her power through her choice of mate.
I think she crapped out on this one, though, because she made a poor choice and what people are vilifying her for is a lack of common sense and letting herself stay with someone who revealed his low character the way Eddie did in the matter of Mel B and Angel.
Her doing that is the the issue. It’s not whether she’s less successful than others or more deserving in her own right of acknowledgement. We’re looking at her character and judgment and she’s coming up short. Because she is pretty and has been able to ride to some degree on her looks, and isn’t some briliant success, people are being mercilously hard on her right now and she is taking some major heat.
She could use a good publicist, and a new “mentor.”
Probably will be somebody white this time. She needs to reinvent herself.
