DuVernay will take her talents from the big screen to the small screen, as she is set to team up with Oprah Winfrey to create a new drama series for OWN. According to a press from OWN, the series is inspired by Natalie Baszile’s novel, Queen Sugar. The book is about a woman, Charley Bordelon, who lives an upscale life in Los Angeles. Her world is changed when she is left a sugar cane farm in Louisiana after her father’s death.

Driving this phenomenon is the preference for sons in such countries as India and China, among other things. According to the Quartz study, which used The United Nations Population Division’s World Population Prospects, via World Bank (2014), in 2013, 49.59 percent of the global population were women.

Photos of pop icon Madonna alongside the likes of Nas and Chance The Rapper weren’t for play. Two songs by the singer — one featuring each of the aforementioned rappers — arrives today. The Nas-assisted cut, titled “Veni Vidi Vici” and defined as “to come,” “to see,” and “to conquer,” is a formal meeting between legends on wax. The track features the duo recalling their triumphs and failures.
