Bossip was invited to attend the opening of District-8, Terry Kennedy’s new store in Long Beach, and the launch of TK’s Supra shoe, TK Society.
TK is our boy, so we wanted to give a little shine to his first shop opening plus the launch of his new shoe. Little did we know, TK has a massive underground following. In the pro-skating world he’s known as the “Jordan of Skateboarding”. The scene was bananas! His shoe following is like Jordan’s Air Max or Nike’s Air Force 1′s. He is his own best marketing tool and the superstar skateboarder definitely recognizes that. He’s reinvested his own money back into the world of skateboarding and opened his very own store, District-8. Rappers and hip hop stars, take note. The line of fans, skaters, and kids for the shoe launch and store opening was up the block and down the street, crazy! The other biggest minority skater in the world is TK’s best friend, Paul Rodriguez, who came and showed some love for the opening of District 8. Saturday we met up with Compton ass Terry again, but this time it was a more mellow launch at a different location, 413, the Supra factory store in LA. We have pictures from both events.
Terry is a young black man who is a rising superstar making the right business moves at the tender age of 24. For minority parents whose kids are into skating, Terry’s a great role model and the ideal person for them to emulate since he’s very much against smoking and drinking. Get that money Terry and open as many stores as you can. No wonder the Simmons family liked this kid.
In a couple of months Terry and Paul will be doing some charity work in the hood…we will cover that as well.
You can’t really order the shoe online…yet, but you can try.
