Just to let you know I joined as a way to escape LA during the height of gang violence and also the drug dealers I was dating. But once I got in, it became a love for my country. I wasn’t looking for direction, but it gave me a senseof pride and professionalism that you can’t get elsewhere as well as dispcipline. But I am graduating Friday with my associates and then going to NSU in the fall. I do think that kids should be influenced more to go to college than join the military. I did miss out on that part, but do not regret it. But to let you know something, on every ship I have been on, while there was a white CO and most of the time white s who were directly under him, blacks rant he ship and they had to come through us to do anything.

My sincere congratulations JB and my heart felt apology. I made some broad statements about blacks joining the miliary that I am sure does not apply to everyone who joins. I too am from LA. Just flowing throw the blogs, The Brand New Heavies, their music is pretty smooth. Got hook on them when I was living in the UK. Good to know someone else find their music cool.

The Brand New Heavies is nothing more than Elevator Music with a thump. It’s Kenny G. with vocals, just not as bland. It’s simple music for simple minds. Nuff’ Said! Family Stand on the other hand was Genius and it was a shame that Black Radio was too safe to play them. Their Second CD, Moon Over Scopio is one of my all time favorites.
