Does it matter??? Really.. Two absolutely beautiful people in love, about to have a gorgeous child, whom will have the advantage of being multi cultural with the understanding for different cultures and people. If everyone could have that advantage this world would be a much better place to be in, guaranteed.

Neither Africa nor the Caribbean is the “litmus test” for black American identity, TruthHurts. Whether or not our blood as black Americans is “heavily diluted” or not means nothing. Our “heavily diluted” blood didn’t stop our ancestors from being lynched nor did it stop “heavily diluted” Rosa Parks from being asked to step to the back of the bus. Anyone who has even the most meager knowledge of black American history knows that black folks span the gamut in complexion. Neither are we concerned whether or not Africans (or Caribbeans, for that matter) consider us “black enough” since it appears that there may be a lack of consensus regarding who is “black enough” in Africa, based on the horrific interethnic/tribal strife that has gripped much of the continent (Rwanda, anyone?) So please, let’s not play the “who is blacker?” game.

@wonkwonk: you don’t need a study to tell you black Jamaicans are mostly black. Here’s a shocker for you: Chinese Jamaicans are mostly Chinese and Indian Jamaicans are mostly Indian. Tell it from the mountains.

I will let you off easy this time because ignorance is simply the lack of knowledge and not necessarily a reflection of one’s intellect. However you need some serious education on the topic sweetheart.

Jamaica is a multicultural country. The national motto is “out of many, one people” (and what a beautiful people I might add). You can be black, white, purple or green and still be a Jamaican, just as you can be any race and still be an American.

You get it? Good. Now get gone.
