Hey stans, looks like your girl Bey will making her way back to the big screen. She has been cast to play singer Etta James in the upcoming film “Cadillac Records”.
How surprising, another singing role. Next time around she should just go for the gusto and do a role that doesn’t involve singing at all, now that would be impressive.

Bossip you are very late on this…I’m younger than the Etta James time, but I know about her and her music and I must say I am disappointed about. Say what you wanna say about me “hating” but Beyonce for one…can’t act. I give her so many props for her entertainment and stuff…but Etta James is a legend of BLUES not pop. I hope they have Beyonce lip sing her songs cause I’ll upset to hear Beyonce’s hard tone riffin on one of Etta James’ songs.

Does anyone else realize that all the roles Beyonce acts in all seem similar. Even non-singing roles like Austin Powers and Pink Panther its almost the same character but different lines.
She not a powerful convincing actress, but anyway go ahead girl and make your money. Gabriele Union’s roles are the similar for most of her movies and she’s s successful Hollywood actress.

The dress is more bronze than gold and it is beautiful! People are always talking about her wardrobe on here, but when she’s just out and about she wears “normal” clothes like jeans and whatever. The extravagant dresses are for when she’s performing or making some kind of “appearance.” When she’s performing she has to wear something that can be seen well in bright lights. I get so tired of petty people picking apart everything she wears. Beyonce is a beautiful black, positive, young woman. Why is she hated on??? Like I’ve said many times, Bossip is a very immature site that just likes to pick apart certain celebrities… and like I’ve also said in the past, I believe is just jealousy, pure and simple! I hope Beyonce does well in the role of Etta James and when she does, these haters on here will still manage to find something nasty to say about her. Sad, Sad, Sad…. I bet all of the women that hate on Beyonce wish they could be in her shoes for just 1/2 hour!
As far as “wobbly voiced” Rhianna goes, she’s not even in the same strasophere as Beyonce when it comes to singing. Rhianna is not an American, she really doesn’t find too many Black men attractive, she has that huge forehead thing going on, and seems like she’s arrogant, yet she’s placed on a pedestal for some reason. I would be really surprised to see Rhianna around the next four or five years.

Leave Beyonce alone. If she wants to continue to do something she’s horrible at(acting) just for the money, then that is her business. She has enough fans that will support all her efforts whether good or garbage. I just feel sorry for the girl, because everyone in her camp is telling her how good her acting is and she unfortunately she believes it. She has no clue and neither does her fans that she is probably the biggest joke in hollywood. Of course those white folks are not going to tell her to her face or on camera that she is a bad actress, but I sure if her fan heard that anyone in hollywood didn’t like her acting,but I guess that would make them haters also. I personal want her to continue to make bad career choices for the sake of money and fame, because it is so much fun to make fun of her and her fan.
Truthfully she’s talented but overrated! if she was on the darker side as a black woman they woudln’t even be giving her this much play let’s just face it alot of this fame comes from her being a light skinned sister close to white!
I say this cuz she performs good just like most of the performers but what skinned tone are the other artists light skinned, ciera, RHI Rhi, Keisha cole, etc. all of the dark skinned singers don’t get the play the deserve and you barely see themin the industry get blown up like Bey do!

Her excuse for JHud getting that part was because she couldn’t gain those 20lbs but does she realize she will have to gain more than 20lbs to play Etta James?… Etta James is not a small woman and has never been a small woman. When a white person has a movie made about them, they don’t go out and get the hottest white singer out there to play the part. They get a person who is a great actor. Then, they will have them sing (or dub their voice) the part. Or, they will lip sync. The point is, they get an ACTOR who can deliver a great ACTING performance.

I HATED beyonce in austin powers .. she made the movie unfunny to me, and i didnt even bother to see fighting temptation, pink panther, etc but in Dream Girls she was definitely alot better than in previous roles.
I think she like other celebrities doing the cross over is gaining ground with each movie she stars in and to be honest I felt in regards to acting her and Jennifer Hudson did a comparable job, but it was the soulful rendition of “And Im Telling You” that won Jennifer her awards because to me they were on the same level with the acting.

I agree that Bey’s style is very predictable and over-accessorized. One’s over-reliance on accessories is very telling. It says the person really doesn’t have a true sense of style. I mean, some of the most beautiful outfits require little to no accessorizing. But ol’ girl constantly is overdone-the weave is not always congruent with the gear, the makeup is usually too heavy, and almost without exception, she’s got too much going on in the accessories department.

Ok you are extremely right about her not having a personality. She is like this robot that takes everything how it comes. She never seems to mind of anything. Whatever sounds good she is with it. The media loves to put black women against each other – and to bad many of us fall for this trick. Beyonce is not successful by talent only – there are a combination of things, looks, mannerisims, and how acceptable she is among whites. Furthermore, there is this unspoken rule in Hollywood that there can only be ONE famous black female star at one time – during the 1950’s it was Dorothy Dandrige, 1970’s Diana Ross, 1980’s – 1990’s Whitney Houston, early 1990’s Mariah Carey, Mid 1990’s to early 2000’s Halle Berry and now it is Beyonce. It’s not that there are no other talented black female artist or actresses out there – white people run the media and they choose who to grant media attention on and it just so happens to be Beyonce. Bey is very smart in milking the entertainment industry for all it has because, her time will come when the mainstream has grown tired of her and move on to the next young black female star – it’s sad, but it’s also true, the mainstream media are not very particular about black women anyway – talented or not. I just think Beyonce was at the right place at the right time – she struggled for a few years before she finally crossed over and gained mainstream media attention. This just goes to show you how white people hate to see blacks succeed – they are always trying to put us against one another. It is not Beyonce’s fault that the media pays attention to her – she is not at the studios saying “Focus on me, me, me.” I don’t blame Bey for taking the role of Etta James – white Hollywood doesn’t seem to be offering her any good roles. Although I would like to see Beyonce in a more dramatic role, her playing a singer part (for the 4th time) will do. I’m just glad the girl is working, and wakes up every morning doing what she deserves.
I wish the media would pay more attention to other black females in that industry just like they do with white females.
