She has enough fans that will support all her efforts whether good or garbage. I just feel sorry for the girl, because everyone in her camp is telling her how good her acting is and she unfortunately she believes it. She has no clue and neither does her fans that she is probably the biggest joke in hollywood. Of course those white folks are not going to tell her to her face or on camera that she is a bad actress, but I sure if her fan heard that anyone in hollywood didn’t like her acting,but I guess that would make them haters also. imagine investing anywhere from 20-25 million (in most cases more)in a film and raking in less than half of that … these studio execs are in the business to make money not headline black actresses who cant sell tickets. sad to say but thats hollywood and they knew that before they jumped into the industry. beyonce is marketable, with a huge, solid fan base that will go see the movie regardless of if they enjoy etta james music or (for her younger fans) if they even know who the hell etta james is. they will more than double projected profits… so THAT is why they keep trying to make an actress out of Beyonce.

I HATED beyonce in austin powers .. she made the movie unfunny to me, and i didnt even bother to see fighting temptation, pink panther, etc but in Dream Girls she was definitely alot better than in previous roles.

I think she like other celebrities doing the cross over is gaining ground with each movie she stars in and to be honest I felt in regards to acting her and Jennifer Hudson did a comparable job, but it was the soulful rendition of “And Im Telling You” that won Jennifer her awards because to me they were on the same level with the acting.

i still dont see the big deal with that because i felt jennifer hudson over sang the hell out of that song and i couldnt listen to more than 1 minute of it without becoming highly annoyed.

I don’t remember who it was that said pink panther wasn’t a singing role- ya it was. Second- I have respect for her drive and her voice but come on she ain’t no Etta. I love Etta and I know Etta and trust me she ain’t no Etta. I think people gove her roles because of who she is and not always based on her talent. She is has to break out of those roles if she wants to be taken serious. No one is going to watch this movie and if they do they are just stupid and don’t have any idea of who Etta is and how her music is supposed to sound.

I have to disagree with PRTTYBRWNGIRL- That movie was based off of a broad way play and on broadway they exagerate what ever they are doing – from singing to acting.Second- Jen. and B are no way on the same level. They both have beautiful voices but where B. strains her notes at time, Jen. just lets it flow. She would definetly be a better person for this role. It’s not that B. isn’t talented it’s just that her and the person she is supposed to play have two different voice qualities and it is not going to be a good match.It would have been a good thing for them to cast an unknown

I agree that Bey’s style is very predictable and over-accessorized. One’s over-reliance on accessories is very telling. It says the person really doesn’t have a true sense of style. I mean, some of the most beautiful outfits require little to no accessorizing. But ol’ girl constantly is overdone-the weave is not always congruent with the gear, the makeup is usually too heavy, and almost without exception, she’s got too much going on in the accessories department.

I think she’s sticking with singing roles because acting is clearly not her strength. And I do believe she has fallen off on the acting tip. Look how Jennifer Hudson straight stole Bey’s shine in Dreamgirls.

In this industry you have to hand over your dignity @ the door and do as your told that is why I know sooo many talented people who don’t bother to pursue their right as a talented star. They want to do them and not be told what to sing how to sing it and how to act. Where as the rest, the most famous, the supposedly most talented are so obedient as as soon as they start to play up they get dropped- she is at the top because she does what she is told and has always done what she is told and has been brought up that way- not because of the level of her talent- Their egos guide them! she is a performer a good one that goes for it on stage @ a drop of a hat (I couldn’t do that) but she aint not lady or beauty or queen.

The media loves to put black women against each other – and to bad many of us fall for this trick. Beyonce is not successful by talent only – there are a combination of things, looks, mannerisims, and how acceptable she is among whites. Furthermore, there is this unspoken rule in Hollywood that there can only be ONE famous black female star at one time – during the 1950′s it was Dorothy Dandrige, 1970′s Diana Ross, 1980′s – 1990′s Whitney Houston, early 1990′s Mariah Carey, Mid 1990′s to early 2000′s Halle Berry and now it is Beyonce. It’s not that there are no other talented black female artist or actresses out there – white people run the media and they choose who to grant media attention on and it just so happens to be Beyonce. Bey is very smart in milking the entertainment industry for all it has because, her time will come when the mainstream has grown tired of her and move on to the next young black female star – it’s sad, but it’s also true, the mainstream media are not very particular about black women anyway – talented or not. I just think Beyonce was at the right place at the right time – she struggled for a few years before she finally crossed over and gained mainstream media attention. This just goes to show you how white people hate to see blacks succeed – they are always trying to put us against one another. It is not Beyonce’s fault that the media pays attention to her – she is not at the studios saying “Focus on me, me, me.” I don’t blame Bey for taking the role of Etta James – white Hollywood doesn’t seem to be offering her any good roles. Although I would like to see Beyonce in a more dramatic role, her playing a singer part (for the 4th time) will do. I’m just glad the girl is working, and wakes up every morning doing what she deserves.

I wish the media would pay more attention to other black females in that industry just like they do with white females.
