Nope, not Florida…for once…

Woman Hides In Dirt After Hitting 5-Year-Old With Her Truck

A Washington state woman was recently arrested after authorities say she struck a child, abandoned her vehicle and tried to hide by burying herself in a shallow hole and covering herself with dirt.

KATU reports:

A woman driving a pick-up hit a 5-year-old riding a big wheel Friday evening, according to the Washougal Police Department.

The driver was identified as 36-year-old Marsha Perry, of Washougal. Perry was driving a white 1994 Ford F-150 pickup when investigators say she hit the child.

Perry was traveling on N 22nd St. when the child pedaled out from a driveway resulting in the collision. The child was taken to Peace Health Southwest Medical Center by ambulance to treat abrasions on his knees and elbows as well as cuts on his face. The boy’s grandparents tell KATU News he has a fractured skull but is expected to be okay.

Witnessses stated Perry attempted to drive away from the scene. Perry then proceeded to exit the truck and walked away northbound towards Washougal River Rd.

A Washougal Police K-9 Handler and his K-9 partner were on scene and began tracking Perry to find her location.

The K-9 followed Perry’s scent through a field just south of the 1800 block of Woodburn Rd. Perry had buried herself in a shallow hole and covered herself with dirt.

Ranger, the K-9, came within 5 feet of Perry, but she could not be seen by officers. Perry surrendered when a second K-9 warning was given.

Perry was taken into custody for felony hit and run with injury. Perry was taken to the Clark County Jail where she was booked for felony hit and run, driving with a suspended license and a unrelated misdemeanor warrant.

SMH…people are crazy.
