Georgianna Dolezal Tells BOSSIP Her Girl Needs Help

Rachel Dolezal has been fascinated with African-Americans since she was a little girl, and it took years for her to perfect her “black” look, her grandmother told BOSSIP.

Georgianna Dolezal said her estranged granddaughter’s appearance changed gradually from a blonde-haired blue-eyed teen to a darker-skinned, curly-haired woman.

“She’s been working towards this for quite a few years, so I’ve seen this before,” Georgianna, 81, told BOSSIP by phone from her Montana ranch, where she lives with Dolezal’s grandfather, Herman.

Her reaction?

“Girls will be girls,” Georgianna said. “She wasn’t talking of identifying as a partial black person, she was just doing her hair and tanning. I don’t know how she does it now.”

She said Dolezal has been interested in the African-American experience since she was very young, but the grandma said she doesn’t know why she took it a step further by assuming an African-American identity.

“I don’t know why she is (doing this),” Georgianna said. “I think she’s making something that isn’t real and I don’t know where it’s going to go for her. She’s living something that isn’t true.”

The grandma attended Dolezal’s wedding to now ex-husband Kevin Moore in 2000, and said she fears how the fallout from the former NAACP head’s choices will impact her teen son.

“I don’t know, but I can imagine,” Georgianna said. “Her son is 13. It’s a tough world out there for him.”

Dolezal, who told NBC she still identifies as an African-American woman, abruptly stopped speaking to her grandparents several years ago “probably because we knew she wasn’t partly black,” the grandma said. “And the deception of it. So to be in contact with us was maybe, a little uncomfortable.”

“She’s not half black at all,” she added. “She doesn’t have any black blood at all, so it’s a little hard.”

Despite Dolezal shunning her biological heritage and cutting off contact with her family, the grandma said she’d welcome her back to the fold immediately.

“She’s chosen this, and we love her,” Georgianna said. “And we’ll respond to whatever contact she chooses.”
