Tough coaching is one thing, but the University of Illinois Women’s Basketball team and the football team each allege that coaches not only segregated Black players from the rest, but bullied them with racial slurs and taunts, even forcing Black players to practice and participate while injured. Via CNN:

They called it the “dog pound.”

It was a separate practice for women’s basketball players at the University of Illinois, a majority of them black, where athletes were often allegedly harassed and attacked for things that had nothing to do with basketball.

Like the neighborhoods where they grew up. Or their family life.
