It both saddens and seriously worries me that people such as you can display such blatant naivety! I know this has been said by other commenters, but the level to which you people are willing to listen and believe the stories of a people who have LIED TO YOU FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS is astounding! I live in London, and unfortunately, I’m sure most Black and Brown folks in America haven’t a clue to the issues WE have with the police over here, but given the publicity that the American incidents get, and the history of abuse and discrimination that we ALL share in our relations with the pigs, how can you display such ignorance!

Other bloggers have schooled you already as to the number of other ethnic officers that have been gunned down in similar incidents. CAN YOU SEE NO TREND HERE!?! Wouldn’t the numbers be a little more balanced if there were no racism involved in these incidents?

People, please wake up! Know who your enemy is! These people have no love for us and until we realise that they are NOT OUR FRIENDS, we will continue to be hoodwinked and bamboozled!!

You need to get your story out. Call every “good” radio station in NYC and tell them this.

The reason we expect a policeman/woman to act differently in that situation is because they are TRAINED to do so. AND, they are paid to take risk. Actually, their whole job is based on risk-assessment and risk-management. That’s what police do, so to say they aren’t paid for that is ridiculous. That’s why they are supposed to raise their gun, find cover, and announce their presence. I wouldn’t be surprised if the only person that yelled POLICE was Officer Omar. And as a police officer, shooting to kill is your last resort. The shooting officer made that his first resort. Either because a) He isn’t good at his job or b) he thought the Black Brother wouldn’t be missed. I’m leaning toward the second due to the lack of protocol. Obama is the Pres, but a lot of you are ignorant thinking racism is gone. It’s still here and maybe more than ever. Racists were protected and comfortable under Bush, lessening their actions, but under Obama, racists are uniting against diversity. Racism is more an issue now than ever and we shouldn’t be scared to call it by name.
