With the Democratic primary race being so close, it may go down to the end where “super-delegates” actually choose the winner with a powerful vote at the Democratic convention:

By 1980 the party establishment had seen enough. It struck back with a commission of its own, led by North Carolina Governor James Hunt. It returned power to elected officials and party regulars — the superdelegates, who will make up about 20 percent of the 4,049 delegates at the Democratic convention. They include all Democratic members of Congress and every governor, but roughly half of them are Democratic National Committee officials elected by state parties, who range from top party operatives to local city council members. Key interests in the party, like labor groups, can also name superdelegates. According to political scientist Rhodes Cook, superdelegates were created as a “firewall to blunt any party outsider that built up a head of steam in the primaries.”

The obvious beneficiary of the superdelegates this time around is another establishment favorite, Hillary Clinton.

Most of the Black political establishment in Congress feel they have to return personal and career favors to the Clinton’s and they are not voting their conscious, values, politics, or in the best interest of the Black communities they represent.

Their support for Hillary has been bought and sold and they may end UP preventing Obama from getting the nomination if it goes down to the end. These plantation-minded officials don’t belong in power and when Obama gets in power, their communities will vote them out for their foolish and corrupt support for the Clinton’s.

You can contact their offices and let them know they are getting in the way of our rendezvous with destiny. Let’s flood their office phone lines and let them know we will vote their ass out of office for their selfish and career-minded “superdelegate” Clinton vote which will prevent Obama from winning the nomination. These corrupt and career-minded elected officials are not with the people or their respective communities . Obama is and that’s why the people are overwhelmingly riding with him.

I’m 13 and I’m for OBAMA all the way, and don’t care what anybody gots to say

    fabulosity

“plantation-minded.” couldn’t think of a better way to put it. the fact that these Black officials in such high positions of power and with so much potential for CHANGE are willing to be bought and sold by Billary makes me sick.

Downgrading other black folks cause they won’t jump on the bandwagon to vote for someone black. Grow up and get back to the business of reporting celebrity news. Personally we do not care who, what you vote for.

    Kiki

Only Obama can win against McCain. The bushes and clintons have enough support without our black “leaders” endorsing them. I know who I’m voting for! Maybe they’ll vote differently.

Get a life Bossip! you can’t dictate to us who to vote vote. Barack Obama doesn’t even believe in healthcare for everyone. I am voting on the issues and not on race so kiss my black a$%#.

    Go Hillary!!!

    TS

When I heard this today, I was SICK! The Clintons and the democratic establishment are looking to steal this from Obama if he wins more delegates than her. They are gonna resort to back room politics and the Clintons are say “Pay us like you owe us” and there’s plenty of negros in the democratic establishment who are owned by the Clintons. And those MFer are gonna take the nomination away from Obama and give it to that white ***** cause her husbsnd owns their black *****es.

I swear,if Obama end up with a small percentage of more delagates, the Clintons are gonna call in their favors to ignore the way their district voted and use their superdelegate vote for her.

Black people need to be aware of this. That is why Obama has to wrap this thing up before the convention, because their *****es are already planning to steal this *****.

And who the ***** are these black people still voting for Hillary?!! Her white ***** don’t care about us! She’s down for Latinos now.

Oh, and just so y’all know, it’s all over the news that Hillary is broke and can’t pay her campaing staff. HAHA!

    Me

Calling them will only matter if you live in their respective districts. They could care less otherwise because you have no say in whether they get re-elected or not. Now if you are in Charles district in NY, or Maxines district in CA or Sheila’s district in TX, then your call will matter coupled with a strongly worded threat to vote them out if they go against the vote. Otherwise you will be on hold or told they can’t help you or given the number for your own congressman or woman.

You are funny as hell and what you said is true. ;0) The people at bossip are minstrels.

    Jani,

Obama believes in lowering the cost of healthcare so that even the poorest among us can afford it. Hillary believes in mandating healthcare, which mean she will garnish your wages on your check, which could be about 500 bucks a month.

Now, which one do you perfer, dumb*****?

    NY_House

interesting: Hillary Clinton has been telling America that she is the most qualified candidate for president based on her ‘record,’ which she says includes her eight years in the White House as First Lady – or ‘co-president’ – and her seven years in the Senate. Here is a reminder of what that record includes: – As First Lady, Hillary *****umed authority over Health Care Reform, a process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill Bradley and Patrick Moynihan, key votes needed to p***** her legislation, that she would ‘demonize’ anyone who opposed it. But it was opposed; she couldn’t even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her own party. (And in the next election, her party lost control of both the House and Senate.) – Hillary *****umed authority over selecting a female Attorney General. Her first two recommendations, Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood, were forced to withdraw their names from consideration. She then chose Janet Reno. Janet Reno has since been described by Bill himself as ‘my worst mistake.’ – Hillary recommended Lani Guanier for head of the Civil Rights Commission. When Guanier’s radical views became known, her name had to be withdrawn. – Hillary recommended her former law partners, Web Hubbell, Vince Foster, and William Kennedy for positions in the Justice Department, White House staff, and the Treasury, respectively. Hubbell was later imprisoned, Foster committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign. – Hillary also recommended a close friend of the Clintons, Craig Livingstone, for the position of director of White House security. When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of up to 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies (?Filegate?) and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, both Hillary and her husband denied knowing him. FBI agent Dennis Sculimbrene confirmed in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in 1996, both the drug use and Hillary’s involvement in hiring Livingstone. After that, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office, after serving seven presidents for over thirty years. – In order to open ?slots? in the White House for her friends the Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts could be awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House Travel Office fired; they were reported to the FBI for ‘gross mismanagement’ and their reputations ruined. After a thirty-month investigation, only one, Billy Dale, was charged with a crime – mixing personal money with White House funds when he cashed checks. The jury acquitted him in less than two hours. – Another of Hil lary’s *****umed duties was directing the ‘bimbo eruption squad’ and scandal defense: —- She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit. —- She refused to release the Whitewater do*****ents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr’s investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs. —- Then they had to settle with Paula Jones after all. —- And Bill lost his law license for lying to the grand jury —- And Bill was impeached by the House. —- And Hillary almost got herself indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice (she avoided it mostly because she repeated, ‘I do not recall,’ ‘I have no recollection,’ and ‘I don’t know’ 56 times under oath). – Hillary wrote ‘It Takes a Village,’ demonstrating her Socialist viewpoint. – Hill ary decided to seek election to the Senate in a state she had never lived in. Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to get Latino support and the New Square H*****idim to get Jewish support. Hillary also had Bill pardon her brother’s clients, for a small fee, to get financial support. – Then Hillary left the White House, but later had to return $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork she had stolen. – In the campaign for the Senate, Hillary played the ‘woman card’ by portraying her opponent (Lazio) as a bully picking on her. – Hillary’s husband further protected her by asking the National Archives to withhold from the public until 2012 many records of their time in the White House, including much of Hillary’s correspondence and her calendars. (There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release of those records.) – As the junior Senator from New York, Hillary has p*****ed no major legislation. She has deferred to the senior Senator (Schumer) to tend to the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems of workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11. – Hillary’s one notable vote; supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she has since disavowed. Quite a resume?. Sounds more like an organized crime family?s rap sheet.

These old school politicans don’t want things to change that’s why they vote for the status quo. That’s why Obama threatens them so much. And Rangel has been in the game for 40 years so you know this old man needs to sit down and shut up. Those other two fifty-something are the same. Concerned

I think Bossip should BE ASHAMED for its comments…the Clintons have done great things for Black Americans. Obama is great and a vision, but don’t pump him up by KNOCKING the BEST CANDIDATE, Sen. Clinton down. How dare you?!

Just a note….this election is not even close to being over. Not even close. As the year wears on, people are going to start voting with their purses/wallets this year. As the year goes on and the economic collapse worsens, people are going to be guided by their financial situation more so than there desire to make sure that certain people can get married or if certain people can have abortions until their hearts are content.

The issue that is present now, goes much deeper than lifestyle or the enviroment etc. That is the problem with America. We love to make people’s personal plights our own.

    Watch this *****e.

Economic collapse is coming soon. The ceasing of the idea of perpetual growth is going to be the story in the news soon.

Gas that is 4.50-5.00 per gallon coming this spring/summer.

Adjustable rate mortgages due to reset by the millions.

Ron Paul is going to have the biggest “I told you so” in HISTORY.

    Yep…watch this *****e.

obama does believe in healthcare for everyone…. if you been listening to the debates, his plan leaves out people who can afford healtcare and he gave himself and others like myself who can afford healthcare for themselves and their families. if i can afford healthcare why should i abuse the system when there are others out there who need it more than me.

blacks have been saying (all of my life) that we can be and do anything…. but when it comes to running the country, we stop at that…. when people like maxine waters who by the way brought to the forefront that the cia was responsible for drugs (crack) flooding the black communities, she slaps me in my face because she says any WHITE body can run the country but Blacks are not good enough. I believe Obama is qualified and has a good insight from his personal experiences… i believe he is a man who is strong in his convictions and a man of integrity… and that is why he earned my vote.

Maxine Waters is the most respected black woman in congress. To say that she is not following her heart is just wrong. All black people do not have to support Obama. Some of us really feel that Hillary is the best candidate. I can’t believe this mentality that blacks have to vote for the black guy. Why is that OK?

WOW! the one thing that I can say about those Ron Paul folks is that they have a grasp on reality somewhat skewed but real nonetheless..I just wondered with the whole Ron Paul movement how you dont realize that a canidate as “for the people” as you claim could ever stand a chance of winning the White House

Everyone else…sometimes I cant even beleive that most of you are “adults” yet have a very unrealistic and ideal view of politics..u have to have some type of connects to get in the White House c’mon this is AMERICA in a capitalist nation u have to pull strings the thing about Obama is hes ..new so he has not aquired all the “political skeletons” that the Clintons have I just dont know how u can listen to her horrible healthcare purposal, and mortgage rates idea, and then not look at her and recognize that she has been programmed to be more likeable just in the nick of time for elections please go to opensecrets.com educate urselves about her and then draw your own conclusions!

    AskOne

It’s true Obama is one to watch on the political circuit. My family and I all voted for him. However, what I think you all are missing is it doesn’t matter if Black people are showing support or not. This age old government will NEVER elect a president whose middle name is Hussein. EVER. Think of the political implications that would have to our friends in the Middle East. I can’t believe Bossip missed that, or maybe they forgot who really runs this country.

    —————————————————–

Those 50+ folks are the ones that VOTE. Not the 20-30 something person (especially blacks).

You run registrar to vote all you like, however until you bring the polls to them, these folsk won’t vote and many cities make it tough for blacks to vote.

Ask what those kids at Prairie View A&M went though late election. Nearest place to vote for them was in another city and there was no bus line for them to get on to go.And don’t forget about folk getting threats if they went to vote in Florida adn other southern states. You don’t think that won’t happen this time?

And why we can debate should blacks vote for blacks, guess what it’s happening. Every election in Dallas, it’s the blacks DRIVING it into every young black person to vote for only blacks no matter how CROOKED they are. @ Ghost – Much of Obama’s support comes from the under 30 crowd, which is driving the record turnout this election season. So, yes, for the first time in a generation, young voters matter for a national election. Will these folks come out for Hillary if she gets the nod? Who knows.

    99 problems but a ......

and sweetie “politics” has absoluely nothing to do with good deeds , politics is to “wonderful things” as the law is to justice never the two shall meet..

    rosie

I can understand Charlie Rangel supporting Clinton – pretty much EVERY NY democrat is lining up behind her. He has helped and supported her since her first Senate run. Obama and the Daleys have had their moments in Illinois, but Bill Daley (who was secretary of commerce under the Clintons) is a high-level advisor to the Obama campaign, and Richie Daley has lined up behind him as well. So, yes, a lot of politics is provincial.

That said, it’s not clear to me WHAT the Clintons ever did that would lead Waters and Jackson Lee to support Hillary.

Bill came into office less than a year after the King riots in LA. Did he steer extra funds to help revive some of the areas that were destroyed? Does anybody know? (I’m not being sarcastic here).

As for Jackson Lee, she is notorious in DC for treating her staff like ***** and being a generally difficult person to work with. She also went to Syria to meet with the anti-Israel dictator Al-*****ad, so her support may actually hurt Clinton with a lot of her NY constituents. Lee is from Houston – did Hillary push for extra federal *****istance for Houston after they absorbed so many New Orleans refugees? Again, I’m not being sarcastic here, I don’t know the answer to this. But since Clinton hasn’t touted it in her campaign, it probably didn’t happen.

    Bronx Brawler

Rangel was campaigning here for Clinton. Maybe Harlem should re-think their vote during his next senate re-election run.

    Scrong Black Man

After Obama is defeated you will have to change your name to “100 problems” while Hillary serves her term as president

    ari

umm hilary’s universal healthcare plan is ridiculous….more working americans will LOSE money

all she’s doing is blinding people with her use of strategic wording “universal healthcare” sounds good but in actuality it’s far from helpful

to this day she still can’t admit to making a mistake and voting for the war….but she’ll admit that she wouldn’t have voted yes if she had the chance to vote on it again

and as far as those “negroes” with the exception of charles rangel who foolishly tried to get a draft bill p*****ed, they are well respected and have my respect regardless of who they vote for

and for the record a vote for hilary is NOT avote against black people…please don’t make this election a race issue

after researching the candidates i’ve decided to back obama, i wont tell anyone how to vote only to further research and decide on your own

and isn’t this a gossip website? what’s going on with all the politics

    Msw

    VOTE FOR HILARY!!!!!!!!!OBAMA SUCKS!!!

    Shill

Damn thats not good for Obama. Only if Hilary gets the most delegates but if Obama scores the most by March 4 then hes good for the nomination. Otherwise all the dems wll get together and make some type of deal. Probably a Clinaton/Obama ticket or vice versa.

    Bronx Brawler

How delusional do you have to be wearing a tight youth sized Superman t-shirt and a doo rag?

    BermudianMami

I’m not a US citizen (I live in Bermuda) but I just want to comment on the people who say they are voting for the person who “promises” the things they feel will benefit them. My opinion is don’t believe the hype. People can and will promise alot of things to get elected but that doesn’t mean that once they are they can come through. IMHO I feel Obama is the smartest candidate, he is not out there selling people a whole lot of false hope for things he can’t be sure he can deliver on. We just had an election here and a whole lot of things were promised that couldn’t possibly be done, and now that it is all said and done all the people who believed the hype are left looking stupid because they are never gonna happen.

    rosie

    @ yo

What does being a “rider” for black people mean? Does it mean that you rally in front of buildings with a bullhorn? Does it mean you speak truth to power? Or does it mean that you leverage your position in the US Congress to direct resources to your constituents to make their lives better?

I think the problem with a lot of politicians, especially black politicians rooted in the civil rights movement, is that they don’t fully make the shift from activist to politician. Yes, Waters may be an activist. Yes she may call out Chaney & Co. in the press. But how many federal dollars has she steered to her district to help pay for programs like job training, after-school care, or infrastructure improvements? What has she done to build small business development? How has her tenure affected employment in her district? And by employment, I don’t just mean sweetheart deals for her friends and relatives.

I think politicians should be judged on actual results, not just p*****ion. If you’ve been in Congress long enough, you should be able to demonstrate that your district is a better place now than it was when you first arrived. Can any of Waters’ constituents say that?

    HOLLYWOOD BS

BLACK PEOPLE FOUGHT TO END SLAVERY SO THAT THEY WOULD BE FREE TO MAKE THEIR OWN CHOICES.FORCING BLACK PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR OBAMA SIMPLY BECAUSE HE IS BLACK IS ANOTHER FORM OF SLAVERY. BOSSIP AND ALL THOSE WHO ARE VOTING FOR BARACK JUST BECAUSE HE IS BLACK ARE THOSE SUFFERING FROM MENTAL SLAVERY. BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOW FREE TO MAKE THEIR OWN CHOICES AND IF THAT CHOICE IS HILARY CLINTON THEN SO BE IT. THIS IS JUST A CLEAR EXAMPLE OF HOW MENTAL SLAVERY HAS DESTROYED THE BLACK COMMUNITY. WAKE UP BLACK PEOPLE, WAKE UP! WE ARE FREE TO MAKE OUR OWN CHOICES. WE SHOULD NOT TO BE COMPELLED TO MAKE CHOICES BASED ON RACE.

A BIG “HO SIT DOWN” TO BOSSIP.

    Hillary Obama

I admire Hillary, she’s so damn quick and STRONG. I love Obama, he’s poised, composed, and very very intelligent.

But he’s not ready to be president. I just hope that Hillary wins the nomination and invites Obama to be her VP.

The way I see it, Obama could have possibly 8 years to really learn the ropes then 8 more as the first black US president.

All those who say a black man can never be president are wrong. It is just poetic justice that the first black man will have a muslin name that he comes by honestly.

    cutie pie

hello dumb***** it goes past that. You think you’re being forced now just wait and see

I second that, but people are ignorant and will vote for him “JUST” because he’s black. Obama ain’t looking out for you when he’s trying to give Amnesty to the illegals.

    cutie pie

why is ignorent to vote for someone because they are black again

    cutie pie

so then is it ignorent of others to not vote for him because he is black?

Can anyone tell me about the trading of oil in the euro instead of the dollar?

Black people like you haven’t mentally-developed after all these years of freedom. You are the Uncle Tom because you are plain STUPID or should I say Aunti Jemina.

    Nwachukwu

“rendevous with destiny?” “Plantation-minded?” The only plantation-minded people I see are those of you Bossip editors. This site’s recent behavior, especially in the field of politics, has been unacceptable. What kind of a “black” site would try to turn people against their own, stirring up racial tension and talking down abut each other?

You are clearly not mature enough to realize that black people have minds of their own, and can vote (or not vote) for whoever the hell they want. You call out black people as being slave-minded for not choosing the black candidate, which clearly shows your motivation for shoving Obama down all our throats. It is you that have the shackles on, and are trying to bring others down to your level of immaturity. You and whoever works at Bossip should just focus on issues, such as Lola luv’s ***** or Beyonce’s relationship with Jay, because politics is clearly not your arena. You are a CELEBRITY GOSSIP SITE. Stick with what you do best, or you will just fall off.

    HOLLYWOOD BS

    @ cute pie and lisa

Hilary has made her plans clear. Go to her website and see them for yourself. I have been to Barack’s website over 30 times and I haven’t seen anything about Pakistan, North Korea, Global terrorism etc. So please, answer my questions. I am anxiously waiting for your response.

Why are all Clinton supporters full of questions but posess no answers? …seriuosly I’m curious I really wanna know

    lisa

    Hollywood BS,

I know the truth hurts. Whites support Obama cuz they are intelligent to know who the best candidate is. You hate on Obama cuz you hate yourself. Oh you little cute jigaboo!!!

    HOLLYWOOD BS

    @ Nwachukwu

Well said, well said. Do you want to see how celebrity gossip sites endorse candidates? go to perezhilton.com. He quietly endorsed his candidate and urged his readers not to be influenced by his choice. He called on his readers to vote who they think is best and should not be influenced by outside forces. If only, these STUPID black people at bossip could follow such a dignified example. Instead, they try to ignite racial tension and resort to derogatory name-calling. When Imus calls black women “nappy headed hoes”, everyone jumps up and shout. Here, you have a black gossip site calling black people “plantation-minded” because they are exercising their free will to choose. This is a sad chapter in black history, very very sad.

    J.Conway

Uh Bossip–Don’t you mean “vote their consciences” and not “vote their conscious”? Come on Black folks; we’ve got to learn some English in 2008.

    Coco

i’m surprised more people aren’t offended that this jewish owned site is referring to elected officials as “these negroes.” have some respect bossip!!! i haven’t seen a title yet that refers to jewish people in that way and i won’t cause they wouldn’t dare disrespect their own people. bossip perpetuates stereotypes that hurt the black community.

    Coco

    J. Conway, Bossip isn’t black owned.

    HOLLYWOOD BS

    @lisa

You haven’t answered my question. You have stylishly evaded my question and gone back to your name-calling. Call me whatever you want. My mama told me that only insecure people make derogatory remarks about others. They do this to boost their self esteem. Clearly Lisa, you are the one with insecurity problems. Instead of arguing out facts, you use racist remarks as your weapon. Why are you insecure? could it be your nappy hair?

I am a free thinking black man and I have the right to choose. I am thankful for my ancestors and for people like Martin Luther because they have given the black people of today, the right to choose and the right to free will. I have made my decision and nothing is holding me back, nothing.

    99 problems but a ......

OK LOL @ hollywood bs a Hilary supporter saying anyone else is evading questions! regardless of this being Bossip or anywhere else they have provided a forum for a political debate.. why I’m puzzled is how you can come to bossip of all places and then be schocked at the fact that they have lopsided and bias support -r u serious?? this is not a “politically resposible” forum and even the ones that claim to be “fair and balanced” are more notalby anything but..again this is Bossip so why would they feign “mature multi-party” coverage?

    again SBI!

    lisa

    Hollywood BS,

I actually did not direct a comment at you first. You did it with me. My original comment was directed to Obama haters. I am tired of coming on this site and seeing people bash Obama. I think that people can vote for Hillary without bashing Obama. That is what infuriates me and I do believe that people do that out of a form of self hate. My Uncle Tom comment was not at you directly. You called me an Aunt Jemima and then I said the jigaboo comment.

You do have the right to choose and so do I.

    Real Stuff, Not Symbols

Bossip, show your readers a little respect. You’re celebrity reporters, not revolutionaries. This election SHOULD be about selecting the most competent, broadly experienced chief executive for our nation. You’ve turned it into a cartoon battle between the “evil white woman” and the “Great Black Hope.” How sad.

    Nwachukwu

I seem to have misspelled “rendezvous,” my fault.

Iran’s Oil Bourse: A Threat to the U.S. Economy?

    Niusha Boghrati

    Worldpress.org correspondent

    April 11, 2006

While Iran’s nuclear program has become a major focus of the international media, there are many who strongly believe that the program is only a cover for the U.S. government’s true motive in a possible attack against Iran.

What some *****ysts posit is the real concern for the United States is Iran’s plan to open its own oil exchange — the Iranian Oil Bourse (IOB) — with the alleged goal of becoming the dominant center of the Middle East’s oil trade.

What makes the IOB the subject of such interest by the American government? According to rumors, which first vaulted the issue into the spotlight, the financial exchange in the aforementioned bourse will trade for oil in euros instead of the U.S. dollar. The dollar has long been the dominant currency for international oil trade.

A Threat to the U.S. Economy?

The debate over the ultimate financial impact of trading oil in euros rather than dollars is a complex one, but according to some experts such a move could lead to a huge drop in value for the American currency, potentially putting the U.S. economy in its greatest crisis since the depression era of the 1930s.

The IOB has been on Iran’s domestic agenda for quite some time and different dates have informally been announced for its opening, all which have been quietly disavowed as the deadline neared.

March 20, the most recent rumored date, was the first day of the Persian calendar year. The Iranian Oil Ministry’s public relations department has denied that the date corresponded to the opening of the bourse, and has mostly remained silent about the existence of such a program.

Of course, the effectiveness of the IOB will depend on whether the big international oil trading companies decide to accept deals in euros or not. However, the potential financial impact on the U.S. economy remains more than just idle speculation.

“The weapon of oil in the hands of Iran’s regime is more dangerous than any other weapon,” said a recently published article in Italy’s Panorama newsmagazine.

Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister Mohammad Javad *****emipour, director of the IOB program, told Panorama that the oil trading center, due to open in a few months, will turn Iran into a major oil exchange point.

“Iran’s oil exchange with the region’s countries and also some of the East Asia states will take place in euros instead of U.S. dollars,” said *****emipour.

Some of the major oil-producing countries such as Venezuela (which has boosted its economic ties to Iran) and a few of the larger oil consuming countries, most notably China and India, have already announced their support for the IOB. China and India, along with Russia, are powers that have at various times backed Iran’s right to establish its own nuclear program.

There is speculation that the IOB represents Iran’s plan to escape any possible future economic sanctions spearheaded by the U.S. However, some postulate that the plan could also endanger the continued existence of Iran’s regime. William Clark, an American security expert, predicted that if Iran threatened the hegemony of the U.S. dollar in the international oil market, the White House would immediately order a military attack against it.

Some Insist Impact will be Negligible

A number of economists believe that establishing the bourse will prove to be an impossible task for Iran.

“More than 68 percent of the global international oil exchange is in U.S. dollars, and by abandoning dollars Iran will put its own economy in greater danger,” said an unnamed Iranian professor of Economics in Paris.

Other experts believe that even if the IOB commences operations, there is not much harm it can do to the U.S. economy.

“Given the fact that Iran’s share of the international oil market is somewhere around 5 percent, I do not believe that it can really absorb enough customers around the globe,” said Russian economist Natalia Arlova.

“And Iran’s unstable political system is another obstacle. Let us not forget that one of the biggest characteristics of the international oil trade centers is stability. Apart from that, the reason the U.S. dollar has been the dominant currency in the oil trade is the huge share America has in the global economy. I do not think that only Iran’s ambition to replace the dollar with the euro will be enough. There are much bigger factors.”

However the IOB, to be located in the free trade zone of Iran’s Kish Island on the Persian Gulf, remains a potential destabilizing factor for the U.S. economy. This, according to some strategic *****ysts, is a probable motive for the rumored U.S. attack against the country.

Experts point to the fact that the Iraq invasion in 2002 took place after Saddam Hussein refused to accept dollars as a payment medium for its oil exports and Oil For Food program, choosing euros instead. After discovering no weapons of m***** destruction in Iraq, speculations have been raised that the main cause for the invasion was the White House’s fear of the possible financial repercussions of Saddam Hussein’s plan to substitute dollars for euros.

Maybe it was that fateful decision by the former Iraqi president which was the last straw for the White House before it sent U.S. soldiers marching into Baghdad.

    Shutup

Bossip, please shut the hell up! I dont feel you should even report politics, because you attack everyone who doesnt see things the way you do. If people want to support Hilary let them. It doesnt been that their support is being bought. You’re always talking about how Obama is the right man for the job, but why is that? You never explain what is about him that you support. I bet you didnt even go out and vote.

Do you black morons really think Hilary gives a damn about you guys, you guys are just *****s in her eyes. When the term ***** is used, it is used to express ignorance, ignorance that so many blacks actually think the Clinton’s give a flying chicken about you guys. The sad thing is black people are so easily bought, i can blame this on slavery, but that excuse is getting poor and bland. Why are most blacks not progressive? here is the answer; you guys simply don’t support your own. I can make the same claim for Obama as well, he can careless about Americans, as long as the votes are cast on his behalf. However, Barack does share something with black America, and that is the struggle and Hatred that many have for blacks. I have noticed that not even Latinos are fond of blacks, I wonder why? Blacks need to stop looking towards the white man for a handout. Hilary will not make conditions better for you, neither will Obama, you have to get up off your lazy butt and get things done. That means enter institutions of higher learning; major is a field that will pay off, not these easy majors such as art and music. I find it so funny that so many blacks believe in the Clinton’s. It is very clear that the Clinton’s are taking a dump on you guys; just look at how Bill was lacing Obama with racial overtones, but yet, blacks turned their heads and smiled and said “yes masa, ill vote for you masa”. It is sad man, every other race is united, but blacks. If you want to know how bad you guys are looked upon, go to Europe or even worse, Latin America, then you will see racism to the 3rd power. Stop dividing and unite. You have a chance to put your faces in the record books, by having someone look like you as the next president. But no, Bill Clinton got his ***** sucked and he smoked weed, so we already had a “black president”, what a joke, not even plausible.

James, chill out. Geting Obama in the history books is not going to do much for us either. In fact, no matter the outcome of the election, things will still be the same. The interests of the people has never been, or will never be a priority for the presidency, black or white. You think Obama will be any different? Keep dreaming. There is no need for resorting to name-calling, as it only makes you look like the people you are describing in your post.

    Dr. Strangelove

    Dear Bossip,

I hereby declare you the biggest and boldest “coon” for 2007 and I am sure you will be for 2008. You do not care about real issues affecting the black and latino community. Anyone or any website that choses to solely base its opinion on race does so at the detriment to those who otherwise fail to seek the true issues themselves.

I STRONGLY encourage everyone reading this message to:

    1. Register to VOTE

    2. VOTE based on the issues facing you, your children, and community

    3. VOTE for the candidate who best ensures that your (non-superficial) issues are dealt with effectively.

    99 problems but a ......

    @James

#1 you keep refering to blacks as “you guys” what ethnicity are u do tell?

#2 You just noticed that theres tension between blacks and latinos ..ok maybe ur white, Im from California and this is no “revelation” the prison mentality spilled out to civilization, history repeats itself theres always squabbling between minority cl*****es -Poor whites vs Blacks , Poor whites Vs any European immigrants Poor whites vs Irish immigrants now Blacks vs Latino and whoevers left that wants to squabble over the scraps that weve been allowed to obtain, and even a Latino friend of mine said that alot of Hispanics are under the impression that theyre not really a minority , that they are more favorable to the white folks, meanwhile the white folks are doing border patrol, complaining about Mexicans bringing down property value, and tryna live on the ourskirts of civilization just to be in a community “that still speaks english” oh but please dont underestimate the tactics of your own kind who have actively parti*****ted to the deteriorating self image of every minority on Earth ..so while I dont support the Clintons your underline racist commentary was as telling about your character as it was uneccesary

    Grand Wizard Bixby

Jasper and I love Bossip because we say all the racists comments we want and they never delete our posts. White Power! You coloreds try to sound educated and they delete your posts, aint that a *****

    99 problems but a ......

And I honestly have not met one Black person whos majoring in Art or Music..not that theres anything wrong with that ..but I dont know how u collected ur info from reading ur post Im sure you must be deeply rooted in the African American community!

David Duke, where are you when we really need you??? These candidates cannot live up to your powerful leadership and rallying skills

    Kem

    Point taken.

    James

    @ Lady Architect:

I honestly did not mean to denounce majors such as art or music. What i should have said is: blacks need to enter the sciences and more advanced fields of specialty, instead of taking the easy way out if the have the potential to do better. I am quite aware that a PhD in music is extremely difficult to acquire.

    @99 problems but a:

My race is not the issue at hand here, therefore it is irrelevant. But what i can tell you is,I am far from a racist, my children as well as my wife of 10 years is black. However, their is some discontent when i see the state of black America. I was simply voicing my opinion.

Side Note: How many times must it be said, bossip is not black owned, it is owned by whites, to be specific, people of Israeli decent.

Next side Note: Here is a little whisper to the people with the wool over their eyes and ear plugs. The presidency has already been decided. Expect a new face as president. Expect Obama and Clinton to fight it out to the end, expect Obama to beat her by a slight margin. Expect McCain to give Obama a run for his money, However, Obama will prevail and win the presidency and become the first black president. Hilary is there as a ploy or a ***** I should say, this is all scripted people. Obama and the Clinton’s are well acquainted and are pretty cool with one another. Oh! Obama will also turn the economy around by his second year. This is just my predictions, lets see if i am correct, i am pretty sure i am accurate, but hey…time will tell.

    Grand Wizard Bixby

James needs a “hoe sit down” for that comment

    James

    @ Grand Wizard Bixby:

your avatar and the name you use says enough about you. Therefore you are irrelevant, you only prove my point. At least chapelle had the common sense to know he was destroying his own people while others races laughed at morons like you. “Grand wizard Bixby”, what a joke, literally!

Well, i am off to do my rotations, enjoy bossip and all its benefits, wait a sec! there is no benefits.

    rich*****

I know you guys mean well and all but we know damn well they aint gonna put their jobs/life on the line just to get Obama in office unless theres something in it for them. They are indebted to clintons from way back and it aint gonna change now it just business…

So, I have had a learned history of “just voting Black”…and I can tell you this…

    IT SUCKS!!!

Vote for the canidate that you feel worthy of the position…get beyond the emotional hysteria and the people and media outlets who are pushing your buttons as if you were a two dolla hoe…and they were pimps…

    And for God’s sake…

Take that “Black P*****”…and stick it up your *****!!!

    Because being “Black” ain’t enough…

    It was NEVER enough…

And just because a politician is Black, don’t mean that they’re going to do a damn thing for YOUR BLACK *****!!!

Being a Black voter in Cook County, Illinois…

I HAVE LEARNED THAT LESSON (a lesson that Senator Obama has helped to teach)!!!

    Tubbs

    OBAMA ALL THE WAY!

    BossipKeep*****Going

and being married to the president dnt equate experience. so all that is bull*****. where was hillary when bill was *****ing monica? oh yeah she was getting her experience on, lol

umm, and i want her to lead this country, she cnt even take care of her household, and she want to run this country, ***** PLEASE.

    TAKE CARE OF HOME FIRST.

    BossipKeep*****Going

^^^^not i want, some of yall want her to lead this country

    kfnksdn

People need to realize that if Dems don’t show a united front after this process we’ll have to endure another 4 years of a Republican President. That’s something I doubt anyone wants to see.

You stupid mother*****er. Bossip doesnt have a *****ing clue what the hell they are talking about. expect the stock market to fall considerably on Monday. Y’all better get all the gas you can get on sunday.

    Lady Architect

I wish some people would look up what are the responsibilities of the senate…their jobs consist mainly of representing your state in congress and deciding the limitations of the legislative branch. The president cannot ratify treaties, meet with amb*****adors, choose their cabinet, etc. without the advice and consent of the senate. If you have problems with public school, transit, crime, sanitation, and other things..that is the job of your governor and district representatives…stop blaming Obama for that and pay attention to the other categories on your ballot that many people choose to ignore…those people are just as important when voting.

^^^^ I really dont mean for that to be as harsh as it sounds. Its just that we are on the verge of another war. Pretty soon (MONDAY), one of the larges oil suppliers (IRAN) is no longer going to accept the dollar as payment for oil. The dollar is going to crash worse than the great depression potentially. WAKE THE ***** UP PEOPLE. WE need someone who can either supply a solid solution or someone to give us a *****ing pep talk with no real plan (OBAMA). Educate yourselves.

    RON PAUL 2008!

    Kurt Eric Munroe

The best way to deal with them is to, first, make certain that we double up on our efforts to support who we want in office and, second, make sure that we vote these politicians out of office if we are not happy with their performance.

Therefore, we need to stay on point well after the nomination process is over, put them on our radar and continue to plot a new course for America. It really goes to show that we do need serious change.

    OBAMA!!! Yes, we can!!!

    Kurt Eric Munroe

Just because they may owe the Clintons doesn’t mean they don’t owe the voters. We also have a say in their job security.

    Lady Architect

    lala11_7,

Obama has not taught you that…look to the governor of your state for those problems…is he black? and whoever represents cook county look to them with those questions and attend district meeting which are open to the public for issues and resolutions.

    LawStudent

I wish black sites would not just go for Obama because of the black thing. If you were quoting his stance on things fine, but to put down others for having a different vote is stupid. Don’t vote for Obama b/c he is black, that is just pure stupidity. Hilary has proven herself and is a great politican and will be a wonderful president. I personally am tired of Obama’s catch phrase “Change” and “Hope”. Come November America needs someone to take the driver’s seat and just us back on track, not someone who HOPES to do it, someone who CAN do it. Please vote for who you think can whether its Barack or Hilary.

p.s. Barack’s policies aren’t the best for Black America and he isn’t pushing a black agenda AT ALL.

    LawStudent

p.p.s. I like Obama very much I just don’t feel this is his time. If he wins the Democratic Nom. he has my vote hands down.

    Lady Architect

they both are good senators and have done their job as so. They both are also good politicians…she has no more experience than he does…being a first lady does not constitute one as being experienced as a president. I’m tired of the catch phrase “experience”…

    Southern Girl

It’s rather simple. Bossip made it clear over a month ago that they were a Pro-Obama site. If you don’t like their endorsements, then don’t log on.

    LawStudent

Agreed^^^ I think the sound bites are played out.

However, people should vote based personal researeach and understanding/following the voting pattern of Both. Like I said I don’t dislike Obama, I just WISH Black media outlets/websites would allow Blacks to vote based on their opinions/reseach not the Black card. Calling the three Reps. “Negroes” was un-called for, PERIOD. At the end of the day if the DEMS win in Nov. there will be change: a person of African Descent or a Woman.

    On Point

He is loosing because he a filthy ***** half-breed with his tarnish w*** devil blood. And he is a tool for the ol’ w*** m*****a.

    The End is Near

Feel this words to the core of your soul and KNOW them to be true.

Rest *****ure that NOTHING happens in this country without the guidance of the “Powers that be”

When they offer you the choice or RIGHT or LEFT. Do neither!! GO UP!!!! There is only ONE true GOD! Right is Right and Wrong is Wrong.

WE have become puppets. You,me our neighbors the majority of Americans. Manipulated, to weak and distracted to even realize what is happening.

In 2000 Bush was sold as “the guy you could have a beer with, down to earth” Little did we know what he would really be like.

Im not sure what is happening, but i know something is not right….. I want to believe in Obama but non of us really know what “forces” are truely behind him. It’s no coincedence that things are happening the way they are. Wolves often hide in sheeps clothing.

We must all come together . NOT as blacks, mexicans, whites, women, or men. BUT we must come together as HUMAN BEINGS!!! Children of GOD!!!

I pray that we ALL can look inside inside ourselves and uproot the seeds of evil and corruption that is inside of us and give power to the light that is within us.

I look around everywhere and I can FEEL it!!! I can SEE it!!!! I know it it my mind, my heart and my being!!! SOMETHING EVIL is amiss!!!!

When god created us he gave us free will. Remember that, choose what is right, chose the light. Get right with yourself, GOD is always speaking and leading you to the way, just listen.

    Built2Bully

This is ONLY FOR THOSE WHO ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA BECAUSE HE IS BLACK… WHERE WERE YOU WHEN ALAN KEYES WAS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT? HALF OF YOU DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE HE LIES POLITICALLY. AND IF YOU DO KNOW THEN YOU KNOW THAT HIS ARE IN-LINED WITH HILLARY’S… SO DON’T LET THIS DUMB ***** SITE TRICK YOU INTO THINK SOMETING ELSE…. EVERYTIME THEY DEBATE THE ONLY THING THAT THEY DIFFER ON IS IRAQ… EVERYTHING ELSE IS EXACTLY THE SAME BUT DIFFERENT TIMETABLES. AND THE FACT THE BOSSIP WOULD USE THE HEADLINE/ WORD NEGROS… MAKES IT EASIER FOR ME TO CALL THEM STUPID ***** *****S… DON’T GET IT TWISTED I WAS VOTING FOR HILLARY UNTIL THE DEBATE HERE IN CALIFORNIA… OBAMA CHANGED MY MIND BECAUSE THIS MAN IS P*****IONATE ABOUT WHAT HE CAN DO FOR AMERICA… WHILE HILLARY FEELS IT IS HER RIGHT TO BE THE NOMINEE WHICH MIRRORS BUSH’S THOUGHT WHEN HE STOLE THE PRESIDENCY… BILL CLINTON LEGACY IS TARNISHED BECAUSE OF HILLARY’S DETERMINATION TO BE PRESIDENT BECAUSE HE IS STICKING UP FOR HIS WIFE… HE IS NOT LOOKING AT HER AS A PRESIDENT…. THINK ABOUT IT IF BILL CLINTON WASNT MARRIED TO HILLARY HE WOULD BE PUSHING OBAMA LIKE CRAZY. AND I’M WILLING TO BET THAT HE FEELS THAT OBAMA WOULD BE A BETTER PRESIDENT, BUT BILL LIKES THE COMFORTS OF HOME. BUT BEST BELIEVE THAT OBAMA WILL BE PRESIDENT IF NOT NOW THEN 2012/13…. PEACE MY PEOPLE…

    Bohwe

I agree with Bossip, but what we need to do is start an oline petition, or regular person-to-person petition, and stir up some drama in our communities to get these politicians to take notice. They want to get re-elected, and if black people stand up, go on t.v. and tell these old people they don’t speak for us, and that if they vote for Clinton, we will shut them down politically. I, for one don’t listen to none of these black so called politicans and leaders. They don’t share my interests and never will.

But, as black people, let’s start making it obvious that if our man Obama does not get the nomination, or the endorsement of black delegates, we should tell them, we are switching parties. I know I am, I’ve already decided that if Obama does not get the Dem nomination, I’m switching to Republican. I will never in a million years support Hillary or Bill in anything. Atleast, with the republicans you know what you’re getting.

Bossip, thank you for posting this, I will email them my opinion.

But, let’s be real, black senators donnot have real power in washington, the only ones that had power is Condelezza and Powell.

The Black Caucaus is a joke, just like during Katrina they got on t.v. telling the nation that the government or country, failed “us”. How pathetic, the black caucaus is still stucked on M*****a helping po black folks.

Blacks talk about wanting change and progress, but whenever there is an opportunity for change, they backed down.

I can see why Tiger Woods claim other, it’s better than being *****ociated with a race that is so sad and unsupportative.

    Bohwe

I just tried to email Maxine W, but I couldn’t directly send an email to her, so I send it to her office. I think that Obama Supporters should mobilize and start petitions, send emails, letters, get on the radios, do everything we can to let these delegates know that we support Obama, and that if they want to continue have our support and votes, they better recognize who’s keeping them in office and do what we want. And if they donot vote for Obama, the revolution will be televised. All Obama supporters, the time is now, we have to make our voices heard. If you live in Philadelphia, Texas, Louisiana, make sure you support and get others to support the cause. We can’t fail our brother now. That include any person that is an Obama supporter, you are family and we have to really tell these politicans they better voter our way, or risk losing a job.

If Obama can win Utah anything is possible.

    Dr. Strangelove

“we have to really tell these politicans they better voter our way, or risk losing a job.”

WOW! I didn’t know Obama supporters had turned into Dixiecrats. That sounds like some anti-civil rights era white voter lingo.

    tru2THABONE

    Four Reasons for OBAMA!

#1: Hillary blindly jumped on the bandwaggon campaign of HATE when she voted to invade a country unprovoked! Obviously she view people of color less when she can give the order to bomb a country full of women and children that have NOTHING to do with the beef America has with Al Queda.

#2: She was an advocate for universal social health care until she was bought off by medical aid providers. Now she thinks that it’s best if we pay for healthcare. That says a lot for her character.

#3: In the last debate, she came up with a fictional story about how she ran into some Black contractor in the South and how he was upset with Mexican Immigrants taking all of his work. Why must she try to pit Latinos against Blacks in an attempt to gain Latino voters? Blacks have never BLAMED Mexicans for our socioeconomic state in America! They are in the same boat that we are. That devisive behavior does not and will not ever benefit minorities in this country.

#4: Why can’t we just support the brotha because he is BLACK!?!? For hunderds of years, we have been alienated from society simply for being Black. Why can’t we just this ONE time come together and support him SIMPLY for being Black. I mean come on! He’s not a sell-out like Larry Elder, Ward Connerly or Clarence Thomas! Can’t we just give the brotha the benefit of the doubt? The country wont be WORSE off with him in office. If he wins, then maybe the next generation of Americans could POSSIBLY not look at EVERY single Black man as a criminal. Do it for the children AT LEAST!

    OBAMA IN 08!

    NOMORECLINTONS

PEOPLE WAKE UP! DO YOU NOT GET IT ? ARE WE GOING TO LET TH EBUSH AND CLINTON FAMILIES CONTROL OUR COUNTRY FOREVER? ISJEB GONNA RUN FOR PRESIDENT NEXT..THEN WILL THEY P***** THE TORCH TO CHELSEA…THEN BACK TO JENNA BUSH ? I MEAN CANT YOU SEE WHAT IS GOING ON? THEY ARENT THE ROYAL FAMILIES…IS THIS A DYNASTY? TIME FOR CHANGING OF THE GUARD. NO MORE CONTROL…HILLARY LOOKS GOOD BECAUSE THE CLINTONS TRY TO BE THE “LESSER OF TWO EVILS” AND THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE THE LESSER !!!

NO MORE CLINTON AND BUSH RULE! IT HAS TO STOP HERE! HILLARY IS A PUPPET WITH HER OWN AGENDAS CONSTANTLY PLAYING THE RACE CARD..YET SHE IS RIDING ON BILLS COATTAIL! AND BILL CLINTON WASNT EVEN EXPOSED FOR SOME OF WHAT HE DIDNT OR DIDNT DO ( TAKE RWANDA AS AN EXAMPLE)

THESE FAMILIES NEED TO SIT DOWN …ITS TIME FOR NEW CONTROL! AND NOT A BUSH OR A F’ING CLINTON!

    NOMORECLINTONS

CHRISSY ITS SAD YOU VOTED FOR HER ..SHE IS NOT FOR US.. SHE IS PART OF A BIGGER SCHEME….AAND THAT IS TOTAL CONTROL!

DO YOUR RESEARCH HILLARY IS LYING ABOUT HER AGENDA AND WILL SWITCH UP WHEN THE MONEY IS RIGHT

AND PEOPLE WAKE UP OBAMA NEEDS CELEB AND HIGH PROFILE ENDORSEMENTS BECAUSE HE ISNT A HOUSEHOLD NAME LIKE HILLARRY? AND WHY IS SHE A HOUSEHOOLD NAME..BECAUSE HER FAMILY AND THE BUSHES ARE TRYING TO TAKE OVER WITH THEIR AGENDAS!

    huh?

Vote for somebody just because they are black? That is racist! Blacks are such hypocrites!

    KingTaharka

As people of African decent we should be able to see what our brothers and sister are thinking and/or feeling and agree to disagree if its not what we are feeling or thinking.

I am voting for Obama but I can’t say i’m mad at hillary supporters I wnt Obama to win but if he doesn’t win we still win all the politicos and rich and famous are going to get those favors returned for their support.

We must ask ourselves what will be more beneficial to us as a whole a person of african decent in a position of power albeit a figurehead position it still yields a lot of influence and power over a great many aspects of our lives and the lives of most peoploe on the planet or are we better off with a seasoned politician in that figure head position that is not only greatly indebted to the rich and powerful of our clan but has a a history of being open to people of African decent progressing socailly and monetarily.

I say Obama all the way but if Billary prevails its still a win for us all the rich and pwerful who are backing Billary are sure to put more of us to work, spend and do more for our communities if given the oppurtunity to operate with access to power we watched evry group that landed here for the past 200 years get ahead by having access to power and economic clout 40 years since civil rights gave us full citizenship we are right on track to be either in position to access power or to follow a leader we who has our interest at heart. either way its a win what election can you remember that that was true about

    nahnah

    Heather -

Why do you even bother? Who cares about the issues when we can have a ‘black’ president? Seriously, why should they bother about their future and the future of their children and grandchildren? These people only care about making ‘history’ no matter the cost.

    Dana

    Hey,

Look guys I appreciate your p*****ion and zeal but COME ON just because an African American Brother or Sister does not support Obama, doesn’t mean that automatically they are sell outs. We can look at issues too, and hope and dreams are all right and good, but don’t flip the script and think that since I am black I Must vote black…..that’s wrong and that’s Racist.

    Hillary Clinton

We….I mean my husband’s done alot for the black community. But one particular black he needs up. Bill honey your son needs you.

    http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/RANCHO/POLITICS/danny.html

    Vinandi

Is it really wrong for Black folk to support a Presidential candidate, just because he is Black?

I say no it is not wrong, for centuries people ( White folk ) have voted along colour lines and racial bias, why shouldn’t Black folk do the same?

Its not like there have been 20 Black Presidents in the past, and racism is a thing of the past in America, its not! And there has never been a Black President!

For every Black person who doesn’t vote for Obama, just cause he is Black ( and argues that race shouldn’t dictate their vote), just remember this; there are going to be Millions of White/Latinos etc….. who will NOT vote for Obama because he is Black! that is a fact! Why shouldn’t Black people rally behind, a sound, ethical and inspirational candidate, who appeals to all races?

I mean people, this is a chance to make history ,a chance to elect an inspirational man, who wants to change America! This is the closest that America has had to electing a Black leader, surely that is something to celebrate and support, instead of dismissing as a hoop dream!

Black Clinton supporters, you are entitled to vote for whoever you want, but don’t you listen to Obama, and feel that at last there is a chance that my President will look a bit like me, maybe understand the issues that a Black person faces a whole lot better than the past White Presidents have? A person who can unite and not divide, and who is not tainted by past *****ociations?

A Black person in power that is not part of the Condoleezza ( not even remotely Black) Rice, Republican school of thought!

A Black democratic leader, whose politics are very similar to Hilary Clinton, albeit he DID NOT VOTE FOR THE WAR IN IRAQ!

I am not even American, but when I hear Obama speak, I have a dream that one day, my kids and grandkids, will live in a world, where Black people in positions of power and influence are the norm and not the exception. Surely this is our moment as Black people to make steps towards ,making this dream a reality?

    TheTruth

If Obama doesn’t beat hillary due to those black folk favouring hilary, then african americans must never complain about anything regarding the government again! You had the chance to put your own in power but CHOSE to be a coon instead! LMAO@those claiming to be voting for a proven leader! I recall y’all complaining when bill was there! The thing is that with obama comes uncertainty and there is more hope with uncertainty!

    cogic man

I love Shelia Jackson Lee she has done a lot for Blacks in Houston she is always fighting for us!

    Eli The Great

When it’s all said and done I’m voting for the Black Man!!

I have waisted so many votes over the last 32 years. This will be one vote that could make a difference.

    Go Obama!!

Tired of the race card being played

Cause he’s BLACK doesn’t mean he’s right for the job point blank. You shouldn’t pick a person just cause of there RACE your suppose to pick them cause you feel there the BEST for the job. RACE and GENDER has nothing to do with who will do the best job. SO GROW UP our country is already messed up so we need to get whom ever is best for the job not cause of race. I hope one day BOSSIP will grow up and realize it’s more to people then RACE. If all whites were bad we wouldn’t have freedom now. Then no one had nothing to say when Bill was in office so Bossip just shut up and let people vote for whom they want and not feel like they have to pick black cause there black.

    lovely and amazing

    Vinandi

@ Tired of the race card being played

So what if he’s mixed race?

I thought most Black Americans have mixed blood anyways??

the fact of the matter is, when most people see him, they think he’s Black, not White!

Black Sistas got it go n on!

Tired of the race card being palyed! I’m not tired of it if your black you shouldn’t be tired of it it’s hidden racism and it’s here to stay white people are still ripping us off!

Kiling people for the color of thier skin raping our ancestors for the color of thier skin making all the half babies why youthink it is half white and black babies that become adults cuz of whites in the first place! You sound dumb of your black and if your white your ignorant!

    DANA'

Obama was in his state’s senate prior to going to DC…. if his own state put him there, he must have been doing something right… if he won his state by over 60%, he must have been doing something right…. people are afraid of change because with change, there is a certain degree of uncertainty… with espceially with our race… BLACK……I feel that many of us are voting for Hilary beause Bill has been there before and Bill seems to have her back.. as a matter of fact, I strongly believe Bill is trying to be President again through her and you ignorant folks says she has experience…. no one has experience running our country that has never sat in that seat personally. why do you think they have all sorts of cheifs and seceretarial advisors…listen to the issues….. Obama has some very good plans….. the clintons are shady business people… why do you think bill pardoned those people in one of many scandals he and his wife were caught up in…. those people took the fall for their shady dealings…

    nahnah

I *****ume Obama’s landslide victory was due to the fact the he ran against the numbnut, Alan Keyes.

    Pussnboots

    @million rumdle

No sweety!!! we do care about who anyone votes for you ingnorant *****….we want a better economy and a better future for our kids maybe yo dumb***** don’t want that instead you would rather keep the rich rich and the poor poor like its always been, but I for one as well as other believe that its time for a definite change what did the clintons do to make our economy better…(for minorites) and what type of healthcare system did they institute when bill lame ***** was in office HILARY is a wonderful person but I want change… I vote for Obama not because he is black but because he has my vision he expresses thing the way that I would express them His healthcare plan etc has everything in it that I’m looking for….

    Lady Architect

first off im so sick of people saying obama is half shady or not really black because he’s half black half white…cut it out yall cause if that’s the case then everyone in America is half and half because everyone has a piece of white in them and if you are in denial back track your ancestors…nothing wrong with being mixed the man is black and any and everyone’s eyes…not one white person looks at him and says that man is white “he came out of a white woman’s womb…only us blacks complain and point out that type of dumbness

    JUST STUPID

I’m not about to pick someone cuase of RACE point blank. I’m going to pick the PERSON who I feel will do a better job. THE PERSON let me say it AGAIN “PERSON”. Yes I’m BLACK but I Do Feel HIllary is the better PERSON for the job.She has WAY MORE Experience.I Support black but i’m not about to jump on his team cause he’s BLACK like most black people have. See I HAVE MY OWN MIND I DON’T LET THE RACE make me pick a PERSON like a lot of people are doing. I PICK THE PERSON whom I feel will do a better JOB. RACE has nothing to do with this election point blank. So People who are STUCK ON THIS RACE CRAP GROW UP THIS IS WHY THE COUNTRY IS SO F***ed UP STILL TO THIS DAY. POINT BLANK WE ALL ARE HUMAN NO MATTER WHAT OUR SKIN COLOR IS. SO PICK FOR WHO WILL DO THE BEST JOB NOT CAUSE OF RACE AND GENDER. Don’t get me wrong I would love to have a black president BUT I don’t feel he’ll do a better job then Hillary. So Pick who is best for the JOB and not RACE.

    b

That NY_House was right on time. You need to know why things are the same. All that it does not have enough pictures in it is just ignorant. This is the reason our communities are so jacked up because we don’t want to be informed about anything. We all want to live our lives as if its one big hip-hop video. We were once a very civic minded race and we have allowed the media to dumb us down. Know where you come from and how intelligent your ancestors were and maybe you won’t be so ready to show your ignorance.

    JUST STUPID

this is an election all the people running are going to say whatever it is you want to hear point blank. only way anyone will see if there telling the truth about what they are saying is if they win. until then they are just like a car sales person say anything to get you to pick them. cause what they are saying during the election doesn’t mean they are going to do it.

    honeychild

Bossip, as an Obama supporter, I tell you you need to quit. To call these black men and women who have fought the good fight for decades on a host of issues that range from civil rights to Haiti is a slap in their faces. People have the right to support who they want as a candidate without being bullied. Get over yourself. SMH.

    Lady Architect

    Just Stupid,

Can you tell me why Hillary has more experience?…cause from I know both her and Obama have never been presidents….and they both are good senators…and hasn’t he been in the senate longer?…not sure but I thought so…they both have degress from prestigious schools and they both address the same issues a bit differently…How do you feel Hillary will do a better job?…I’m not trying to down you but honestly you saying she has “way more experience” is just as dumb cause she has no experience off of being first lady…they stand by their husband’s sides, smile for pics, and do things with other wives…where’s the way more experience located?

    JUST STUPID

    @ Lady Architect

you tell me how he’s better for the job.

    Angel_Minded

There is just so much ignorance. It just oozes from this post! All these black blogs are all the same, bash Hillary and support Obama. It’s just crazy to me.

People will find any excuse to hate on Hillary, and for what? Tne biggest reasons why people don’t like Hillary is b/c of the Iraq war and Healthcare.

First off, Obama’s healthcare plan is extremely flawed, which is also a strong indication of his lack of experience. With Obama’s proposal the U.S will never see universal healthcare, Obama claims that by making it voluntary we will ultimately get to universal healthcare—I’m sorry but he’s an idiot. Universal healthcare/Clinton’s proposal is being used all over the world. Canda, Europe etc., and none of these countries are having any problems! By using Obama’s plan, the ones that opt not to be covered will be penalized! LOL- *****ody young wants insurance, but accidents happen all the time. What should happen if a 27 yr old w/ no coverage gets into an accident? They’ll be penalized w/ high costs…and it won’t matter if they’re income is below poverty. With Clinton’s plan, everyone is covered, the cost of healthcare will be a very low cost, it would be based on their income. So no one, under Clinton’s plan, would be paying sky high prices for healthcare. And should that 27 yr old get into a car accident, they’ll be covered and won’t be penalized under Obama’s plan.

Now the Iraq war Obama wasn’t even in the Senate to vote on the war, all he did was make a great speech about his opposal to the war. If any of you idiots bothered to watch the last debate, Hillary thoroughly explains that in the past there was a similar situation that had occured, which is why she voted to support the war. Bush lied, Hillary voted on lies and incorrect info. Just like Hillary explained in the debates, this decision was not cut and dry as some people try to make it. She had good, legitimate reasons for supporting the war—she had no knowledge that the commander and chief was lying. And furthermore, making one good decision, does not mean that he has excellent decision making skills on ALL ISSUES. Just look @ his stance on Immigration, Healthcare, the withdrawals of the troops…etc., he’s so inexperienced that even when he speaks on these subjects in the debates he comes off as an idiot! Yet these ’stans’ continue to support someone that has no idea about how this country is run.

Hillary has traveled to 32 countries and has alliances and negotiations w/ governments/presidents/ etc., on different policies for women and children. This woman outlined her resume to a ‘T’ on the last debate and yet you still doubt her? Obama sat there looking stupid on the last debate. The only thing that he garnered applause for was his decision about the Iraq war.

Please I urge everyone, do not let another inexperienced man into the white house. As Clinton said: ‘It took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush, and it’s gonna take a Clinton to clean up after the second Bush.’

    Clinton ‘08!

Lady Architect, if you’re looking for why she’s the better candidate, then watch any of the debates! Especially the last debate, she outlined her resume to a ‘T’ b/c she is the SHYT!!! Can’t *****ODY touch this woman! Obviously, you’re blindly supporting a man just b/c you’re community tells you to! Sweetie, learn how to think for yourself, on issues that will affect you!

If you ever talk to anyone from Canada you will find that Universal Healthcare is not as good as it seems. It is basically a forced HMO plan that doesn’t allow you to self-diagnose at all. You have to almost be close to death to get any major procedures done. Most of the time, you are sent home with another Motrin script and a follw-up appointment scheduled months later.

PRESIDENT CLINTON AND VICE PRESIDENT GORE

Working on Behalf of African Americans

    Economy

Nearly 18 Million New Jobs. More than 90 percent of the new jobs have been created in the private sector, the highest percentage in 50 years.

Record-Low African American Unemployment. The unemployment rate for African Americans has fallen from 14.2 percent in 1992 to 8.9 percent in 1998 — the lowest annual level on record (data first collected in 1972)

Median Income of African American Households Is Up $3,354. The median income of African American households rose 4.3 percent (or $1,029) in 1997. And since 1993, the median income of African American households has increased from $21,696 to $25,050 — $3,354 or a 15-percent increase, adjusted for inflation, between 1993 and 1997.

Real Wages Are Rising for African Americans. The real wages of African Americans have risen rapidly in the past two years, up about 5.8 percent for African American men and 6.2 percent for African American women since 1996.

Tax Cuts For Low-Income Working Families. President Clinton’s 1993 Economic Plan provided tax cuts to 15 million hard-pressed working families by expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). The average family with two kids who received the EITC received a tax cut of $1,026. In 1997, the EITC lifted 1.1 million African Americans out of poverty.

Largest Four-Year Drop in African American Poverty in More than Twenty-Five Years. Since 1993, the African American poverty rate has dropped from 33.1 percent to 26.5 percent — the largest four-year drop in African American poverty in more than a quarter century (1967-1971) and 26.5 percent is the lowest level on record (data collected since 1959). While this decrease marks significant progress, President Clinton will continue to fight for policies that help to raise incomes andreduce poverty.

Child Poverty Among African Americans Down To Lowest Level on Record. In 1997, the African American child poverty rate fell from 39.9 percent in 1996 to 37.2 percent — its lowest level on record (data collected since 1959). Since 1993, the child poverty rate among African-Americans has dropped from 46.1 percent to 37.2 percent — the biggest four-year drop on record.

Minimum Wage Increased. The President raised the minimum wage to $5.15 an hour — directly benefitting 1.3 million African American workers.

Fighting for Paycheck Equity. The President has called on Congress to p***** legislation to strengthen laws prohibiting wage discrimination. In 1997, the median earnings of African American women represented 65 percent of the median earnings for all men.

Two and a Half Times More Small Business Loans to African American Entrepreneurs. Between 1993 and 1997 the Small Business Administration (SBA) approved more than 9,000 loans to African American entrepreneurs under the 7(a) and 504 loan programs. In 1997 alone, the Small Business Administration granted 1,900 loans, worth $286 million, to African American small business owners, two and a half times the number of loans granted in 1992.

Supporting Minority Business Communities and Increasing Access to Capital. Building on the efforts of the SBA, Vice President Gore unveiled aggressive plans to increase lending and business services to the African American and Hispanic business communities nationwide. The SBA has set a goal of providing an estimated total of $1.86 billion in loans to African American small businesses over a three-year period. In addition, the Vice President announced an unprecedented agreement between SBA and the “Big Three” U.S. automakers to increase subcontracting awards to minority businesses by nearly $3 billion over the next three years — a 50 percent increase over current levels.

Ensuring Minority Business Owners Have a Fair Opportunity to Compete. The President signed the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century into law on June 9, 1998. The Act protects the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program, a program that ensures that minority and women owned businesses have an opportunity to compete for transportation projects. The Administration helped defeat an amendment to the House version of this bill that would have eliminated the DBE Program. In a different measure, the President also approved the creation of a new program to target *****istance to minority-owned businesses in industries that continue to reflect the effects of discrimination. As a result, thousands of minority-owned businesses will be able to compete more effectively for government contracts.

Working on Behalf of Minority Farmers. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is working to strengthen programs and increase outreach targeted to underserved communities, including increasing its lending to minority and women producers. Between 1993 and 1998, direct lending to these groups has nearly doubled — from $46.5 million in FY93 to $91 million in FY98. The Administration is committed to righting any past wrongs by federal employees and worked with the Congress in 1998 to craft language contained in the Agriculture Appropriations bill that waives thetwo-year statute of limitations on discrimination complaints against USDA’s farm and housing loan programs. This waiver allows compensation to be provided to many minority farmers who were victims of discrimination by USDA from the early 1980’s through the 1990’s. On Jan. 5,1999, Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman announced an historic agreement to settle the discrimination lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture brought by African American farmers. As President Clinton said regarding the settlement, “Today’s action is an important step in Secretary Glickman’s ongoing efforts to rid the Agriculture Department of discriminatory behavior and redress any harm that has been caused by past discrimination against African-American family farmers.”

Expanding Investment in Urban and Rural Areas. Spurring economic development in distressed communities, the Clinton Administration has created 31 Empowerment Zones and more than 100 Enterprise Communities that are creating new jobs, new opportunities and stronger communities. The FY99 budget included $60 million in flexible discretionary funding for the next round of Empowerment Zones and Enterprise Communities.

Helping People Get to Work. The Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century authorizes $750 million over five years, and the FY99 budget included $75 million, for the President’s Access to Jobs initiative and reverse commute grants to help communities design innovative transportation solutions so that families who need to work can get to work.

Providing Incentives to Save. The President signed into law a five-year, $125 million demonstration program for Individual Development Accounts, providing incentives for low income families to save for a first home, higher education, or to start a new business, effectively completing his 1992 community empowerment agenda.

*****isting Families with Housing Vouchers. Congress approved the President’s full request for 50,000 new vouchers exclusively for people who need housing *****istance to make the transition from welfare to work.

Homeownership Is Up. There are more than seven million new homeowners since the President took office. African American homeownership has increased 20 percent with 974,000 new African American homeowners since the first quarter of 1994.

Helping More Families Become Homeowners with the “Play-by-the-Rules” Homeownership Initiative. The FY99 budget included $25 million for the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation to start this new initiative that will make homeownership more accessible to families who have a good rental history but have difficulty purchasing a home; 10,000 lower-income and minority families who are currently renting will benefit from this initiative.

Expanding Low-Income Housing Tax Credit by 40 Percent. In 1993, President Clinton fulfilled hispromise to permanently extend the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, spurring the private development of low-income housing and helping to build 75,000-90,000 housing units each year. President Clinton has proposed to expand the credit by 40 percent. Over the next five years, this expansion would mean an additional 150,000 to 180,000 quality affordable rental units.

Building One America. The President has led the nation in an effort to become One America in the 21st Century: a place where we respect others’ differences and, at the same time, embrace the common values that unite us. Dr. John Hope Franklin, Advisory Board Chair, and Rev. Suzan Johnson Cook served on the Advisory Board to the President’s Initiative on Race, which the President charged with overseeing this effort. The President, the Administration and the Advisory Board were actively involved in public outreach efforts — including holding numerous public meetings and town halls — to engage Americans across the nation in this historic effort. One of the critical elements of the President’s Initiative on Race was identifying, highlighting and sharing with the nation promising practices — local and national efforts to promote racial reconciliation. The Advisory Board presented their final report to the President on September 18, 1998, and recommended that conversations on race continue.

Creating an Administration that Looks Like One America. The President appointed the most diverse Cabinet and Administration in history. The Clinton Cabinet includes three African Americans: Rodney Slater, Secretary of the Department of Transportation; Togo West, Jr., Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Alexis Herman, Secretary of Labor. Additionally, African Americans serve in the Administration as Surgeon General, Deputy Attorney General for the Department of Justice, Director of the National Park Service, Deputy Secretary of Commerce, Department of Education General Counsel and as the Department of Education’s Chief of Staff. Thirteen percent of Clinton Administration appointees are African American, which is twice as many African Americans as any previous administration. White House appointees include: Bob Nash, *****istant to the President and Director of Presidential Personnel; Thurgood Marshall, Jr., *****istant to the President and Director of Cabinet Affairs; Minyon Moore, *****istant to the President and Director of Political Affairs; Cheryl Mills, Deputy *****istant to the President and Deputy Counsel and Ben Johnson, Deputy *****istant to the President and Deputy Director of Public Liaison; Alphonso (Al) Maldon, Deputy *****istant to the President for Legislative Affairs; and Tracey Thornton, Deputy *****istant to the President for Legislative Affairs.

Increasing the Number of Judicial Appointments. President Clinton has named 14 African Americans as U.S. Attorneys and 12 African Americans as U.S. Marshals. The President has nominated 57 African Americans to the Federal bench, 16 percent of his total Federal bench nominations.

Ordered an *****essment of Affirmative Action Programs. The President ordered a comprehensive review of the government’s affirmative action programs which concluded that affirmative action is still an effective and important tool to expand educational and economic opportunity to all Americans. This review of federal affirmative action programs has helped to ensure that these programs are fair and effective and that they can survive legal challenges. As a result, programs that benefit African Americans, including students, working men and women, and business owners, remain in effect andare more likely to be upheld by the courts.

Reducing Backlog and Expanding Alternative Dispute Resolution at Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The FY99 budget included $279 million — a $37 million increase over the previous year — to significantly expand EEOC’s alternative dispute resolution program and reduce the backlog of private sector discrimination complaints. The final budget fully funds the President’s request — providing the first real increase for EEOC in several years.

Creating a National Memorial to Honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In July of 1998, President Clinton signed a new measure authorizing the creation of a national monument to Dr. King on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Opposed California Prop. 209 and Similar Measures. The Clinton Administration strongly opposes state and local initiatives to eliminate affirmative action programs that expand opportunities for African Americans and others. The Administration opposed Proposition 209 in California and filed amicus briefs opposing Prop. 209, which currently prohibits state affirmative action programs. The Clinton Administration opposed a similar initiative in Houston, which was defeated and opposed an initiative in Washington that is similar to Prop. 209. In all these cases, representatives of the administration have spoken out strongly against these initiatives as unfair and a barrier to equality.

    Hillary (Bill) Clinton

Canadians and Europeans come to the United states whenever they need top-notch care. Universal coverage may bring down some of the cost, but it also drops the quality of care. Also, Clintons plan is going to force people that can’t afford or don’t want insurance to pay for it anyway. If they don’t pay for it then they will pay a fine and/or their wages will be garnished. That amounts to a “health tax” and undue hardship.

Illegal immigrants are the ones that are really driving up the cost because they do not contribute at all and cannot be refused care. What are either candidate gonna do about that?

When this presidential race started I was at first supporting Hillary untill I started thinking of the big picture.

She’s had her chance and I don’t think she’s a bad person but she’s not a strong enough leader. When the IRAQ war started and LATER when it was found that it was a fraud she should have been the MAIN One fighting against George Bush LEADING The democratic Party against him.

I am disapointed in the democratic party that they LET Bush get away with as much as he did and ran the country into the ground. Hillary being in the position that she was in should have been the face of the fight against BUSH.

YES I KNOW Obama was in the Senate also but I think Hillary has had her chance. I pray OBAMA wins and that he is who he seems to be. We don’t need any more let downs in our leaders, this country needs help and needs help NOW!!!

    Kdogg

Hillary will never win head to head against Mccain. Especially a Mccain/Huckabee ticket. She is not winning head to head against Obama. If she was the face of the Democratic party and people really bought her experience claim then this race wouldn’t even be close. If the Dems and Independents aren’t buying her crap now, what makes any of you Hillary supporters think anyone is going to buy it in the national election?

Have you ever seen ‘Sicko,’? Lol, the U.S has one the worst healthcare system in the world.

Take a closer look @ what Obama is proposing vs. Hillary and still tell me that Obama’s plan is better!

Okay, let’s try this again. Lol. Obama says that young people never get insurance because they think they’re too healthy to pay for insurance. His plan gives them the option to decline, whereas Hillary’s plan, ‘forces’ this demographic to get health insurance.

So let’s go back to my previous example. I am 27 and I am in great health, so I opt not to get insurance. But what I don’t expect is that I could get in a car accident and break several limbs, or I could get seriously hurt playing sports. Under Obama’s plan, now correct me if I’m wrong, he states that those that opt not to be covered will be financially penalized. Not to mention I’d have to pay for most of medical coverages out-of-pocket. So I’d be financially penalized and have to pay my medical bills out of pocket. And this sounds good to you? JUst b/c it’s optional doesn’t make it better. Obviously you’re one of those people that’ll have insurance, but what about the ones that ‘choose’ not to be covered? Obama doesn’t care about them. Hillary’s plan may be mandatory but it ensures that if an sccident should occur that person won’t be in debt and a drain on the ecnonmy. Once again Obama illustrates how ignorant and inexperienced he is. His plan will never work, and we will still be in the same position we’re in now. Millions covered and Millions excluded. Hillary’s healthcare costs are measured by the income and it only requires a small percentage.

If you want to know Hillary’s plans on Immigration, watch the debates. I would suggest this for Obama’s plan too, but after watching the debate it’s quite clear he has none.

If Obama wins the nomination, the Republicans are gonna tear him apart! Lol, the only thing Obama has to stand on is his opposition to the war! King Solomon: “Bring me a sword!; Cut the living child in two, and give half to one and half to the other”

The Childs Real mother: “Please my Lord, give her the child and do not kill it!”

Hillary Clinton: “It shall be neither mine nor yours – divide it!” Chop! Chop!

Lol, clearly you know nothing about Clinton, otherwise you wouldn’t have asked that poster, what experience Hillary has. That right there automatically tells me that you haven’t done your research. I think your opinion is being strongly influenced by other idiots in this forum and in your community. If you were truely making an unbiased decision about why you didn’t like Hillary, you wouldn’t have even needed to ask what experience she has, you would already know from your own research.

Another thing that’s funny to me is how everybody can cut and paste all this negative ish about Hillary but can’t *****ody say or concreate positive facts about Obama. Why do stupid people say ‘Obama doesn’t have the experience’…WTF!!! Cause you can’t think of anything else to say. Both Bushes had enough experience to run the office and they still f#$ked it up. Now that you have seen the outcome of what they had to offer this country, are you really going to sit up here and say that you have to have experience! 3. Hillary is not a war vet either

More people dislike Hillary more than they dislike any other candidate. Obama is more liked than any other candidate in the running. ***** Cheney ha more experience than all of them. Do you think that he would even have a snow***** chance in hell of winning?

Heck, No! Why? Because people do not like him and he represents the Old regime…the old way of thinking.

Kinda of like how people feel about Hillary. They don’t like her and she represents the old.

I say out with “Old & Bitter” and in with “New Direction & Hope.”

    YES WE CAN!!!!!!!!!

The right for blacks to vote has been in question, clearly you didnt know that when blacks were given the right to vote it was in an amendment that lasted only 25 years which expired while Reagan was in office and he extended it another 25 years. The 25 years expired while George W. was in office and had to be voted on again. Maybe you can understand now why blacks feel there is still some racism, our right to vote until recently could be taken away.

People thought Bush was an idiot before he elected into office, and people think he’s an idiot after he leaves office, lol! Bush got into office using the same proganda that Obama’s using. Bush stressed how he was a Christian man w/ Christian values…this was very important b/c of the Clinton scandel. Bush used his personality, likeability to get elected. People that voted for Bush, voted b/c he was the type of guy that they could see themselves having a beer w/. LMAO- ignorance if ever I’ve seen it! Lol, Obama is doing the same thing. His uses this, ‘changing for the better,’ using his charismatic speeches of a utopic society–well I dunno about you but I live in the REAL WORLD, and experience is essential! Our country needs someone how is familiar w/ foreign policies—watch any of the debates, Hillary explains why she’s wayyy better in this area–Obama was left speechless…kept referencing when he was working in the streets of Chicago—GTFOH!

    Miss take

I am particularly disturbed by the phony antics Hillary has stooped to in order to get sympathetic votes. I mean, come on now–TEARS?

TWICE– 2 times, this disturbed, power-hungry trick has broken down into tears publicly. (Fake ones, at that)

If Al Qaeda or the Taliban or some shyt were to blow our *****es up again (which is inevitable), are these same “tears” and unprofessional show of emotion gonna be her response? I don’t think so!

King Solomon: “Who is this ugly chick in the pantsuit??”

Hillary Clinton: “It is I, my Lord. Bill, I mean, Hillary Clinton.”

King Solomon: “Bring me a sword!; Cut the living child in two, and give half to one and half to the other”

Okay, now your ignorance is getting redundant! First off, Hillary’s plan was rejected b/c both Houses were f*ckin Republican!!!! In the last debate, she stated why it wasn’t p*****ed, and she also stated that since Congress is mostly Democrats that she will try again…idiots!!!

I’m curious do you watch any of the debates? Or do you just come on gossip blogs and spew hatred?

Clearly, you’re misinformed, b/c if you had watch the same debates that I watched then you would see that Hillary OUTLINE HER F*CKING RESUME!!! OBAMA SAT THERE LOOKING STUPID W/ OUT ANY CONCRETE RESPONSES ABOUT HIS ‘SUPPOSED PLANS! IF YOU DISLIKE HILLARY, THAT’S FINE, BUT DON’T LIE ABOUT WHAT SHE’S CAPABLE OF AND HER EXPERIENCE!

    Lady Architect

angelminded first off I’ve done my research on Hillary which is why ask the question of her experience outside of her senate position to see if I missed any positions she has held outside of that…and stop talking bout unbiased opinions they are facts you idiot…I’ve gone to these building conferences and met these people in person…they are facts…just like you have watched all of the debates and did your online reading…I have sat in these conferences and look at the newest plans for those areas, and have actually met these people outside of what they choose not to show you on tv so quit your talking…its not copy in paste this is knowledge from enduring things outside of the debates and outlining resumes…everything you know of hillary is cut and paste information or something you can read online…as a said for obama you can do the same thing…all of his polkicies are online and explained very well and he has done just as well as hillary in the debates…they have both captures eachothers strengths and weaknesses….anything else you know outside of debates and literature is considered an unbiased opinion so do you have one also?…or are you cutting in pasting and reiterating what you have heard on tv? my thing is not to bash hillary but people keep saying she is so much better when she has EQUAL FLAWS, EQUAL EXPERIENCE, and adress equal issues…if she has so much more experience then maybe Bono should’ve ran cause he has done more work than her.

2ndly, it’s not about the government bailing anyone out of trouble, it’s about the entire ecnomy as a whole. Right now, everytime people w/ out insurance go to the E.R WE have to pay for it!

I’m trying to convey to you that Hillary is thinking about the bigger picture as a whole, and not about individual preference. This is a perfect example of why she’s the better candidate, she thinks about the future of all Americans and the state of the economy, which is attributed to her experience!

How many ways or in how many languages do you need to hear it? If you don’t like her, then don’t vote her. But if you genuinely wanna know why she’s better, listen to it from her voice, and then you’ll understand why soo many Americans want her as president!

I am a black man and I just cannot believe what some of my people are saying in this forum. If you’re against those “Negros” for supporting Hillary, what do you expect the white race to say about those white Senators and Congressmen and women who support Obama? I don’t see the white people saying anything bad about those whites who support Obama.

Whoever wrote this article needs to have his/her brains examined. I’ll now vote for Hilllary Clinton.

    @Hollywood BS

No offense but that is one of my problems with Ms Clinton. She has a whole lot to say about her global policies, which is great, but I want to hear about our country, which has been in shambles for years. Have you seen how biased the media is towards Hillary? And have you noticed how they favor Obama? Why do you think they do this? Is it b/c White Amerikkka suddenly sees him as their equal? Lol, the Republicans want Obama to win the nomination, why else do you think the Kennedy’s are endorsing him? lol, they know that if Obama wins the ticket then that guarantees them in the white house. If Obama wins the nomination, the Republicans are gonna tear him apart! Lol, the only thing Obama has to stand on is his opposition to the war! LMAO – do you really believe the American public is gonna pick Obama over Mccain? Mccain, a man that has fought in this war, and has way more experience than obama will see in a lifetime? You must be out of your mind! The Republicans know that if Hillary wins then she’s goin straight to the White House…no ifs ands buts about it! all i’m asking is that people treat them the same…and stop using the “experience” word as your only backup cause they share the same experience as senators..you are telling people to stop using “black” for him and stop using “experience for her cause anything in a debate could be fabricated…anything in a campaign can be fabricated…it’s not like you are hooked up to a lie detector …you are advertising yourself..and all advertisements contain lies…its factual

“The Civil Rights movement stareted with Hope”

I agree, but measurable CHANGE didn’t happen until President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

If you are attempting to argue that Obama is the same caliber as past civil rights leaders, im waiting.

    tj

Well I explain away some of these.

First Charles Rangel is a New York Democrat. He has to work with Hillary everyday. Hillary has fundraising power as well as political power in NEw York on lock. If he crossed her it would be curtains he would also have to relinquish the power of his *****ociation with her which leads to committee chairmanships and such if she is elected.

Sheila Jackson Lee. Has been a close friend of Clinton for years. If your best white friend was running for office I doubt you would vote for somebody else.

MAXINE WATERS IS OUT OF LINE. She is voting this way because she has a huge Latino constituency and is scared to go against the Latino establishment in her district. CALL HER BLACK *****!!

Also I would add that superdelegates are not set in stone. When the race goes drastically in Obama’s favor over the next 3 weeks. (Washington, Nebraska, Louisiana, Maryland, Virginia, DC, Hawaii, and Wisconsin all in a row and overwhelmingly) I think we’re going to see Clinton’s establishment support running out of steam in hopes of settling on a candidate before the party ruins it’s chances.

    Dr. Strangelove

The Clinton’s are the antithesis of the Republican party. Of course they wouldn’t want Hillary in the Whitehouse. As for that 50% of Democrats, almost every poll I have seen says that the majority of Democrats would support Hillary if she is gets the nomination. Next.

    nahnah

    Dr. Stangelove

If you are attempting to argue that Obama is the same caliber as past civil rights leaders, im waiting.

    _____________________

They can’t!!! And neither can they list those ‘changes’. The only thing so far is ‘no more Clinton’s’, which in itself isn’t really change, since the Democratic Party is pretty much homogeneous.

    tj

To answer the if Obama were white question.

    1. Yes I absolutely would vote for him although my support of him would be less vigorous. In fact pit anyone against the Clinton’s and I will vote for them.

    2. He would be running away with this race if he were white and we wouldn’t even have this thread.

    3. Race informs one’s opinions so I’m not sure he could be the same person

    4. He’s just as much white as he is black so I somewhat resent the question.

Lastly. I actually would love to have a female president but not a Clinton.

    Kdogg

But it took a president w/ experience in order for that ‘hope’ to be realized….and made into law

    —————————————————————————————————–

So are you suggesting that all of the Presidents before LBJ lacked experience? No, They all had experience the difference was blacks were getting better educated and they had…HOPE! The HOPE made it happen. The Effect was the signing.

    FYI!

John F. Kennedy inroduced the bill in 1963. Unfortunately he was killed before it was a reality. LBJ , who was president by default, reluctantly signed it into law saying, “We have lost the South for a generation.”

    AL Sharpton

    @Dr. Strangelov,

Was it Lyndon Johnson getting hosed in the streets? Protesting, getting killed, beat, lynched, jailed etc?

Give credit where it’s due. no to the dude who signs a piece of paper. That bill came off the backs of many dead black people.

And y’all can forget about contacting Shelia Jackson Lee. I’ve seen her on MSNBC a bunch. She is juts a political insider and a typical idiot pundit. She never answers questions with straight up answers, always distracts from the point when she is at a disadvantage, and is just a fake insider as a whole. ***** her.

    _______________________________

I don’t know why she endorsed Clinton, and I don’t agree with her endorsement, but Bossip’s out-of-control rants are hell ignorant, and should not be taken seriously.

But she’s done more in one year than Barack did in 3 years as being a US senator and 7 or 8 years of state senator and whatever else he’s been.

She also stood up against vote fraud, when Obama was telling her to ‘get over it’. Which is probably why she ditched his *****.

    what?

    @ Angel Mind

So you say under Obama’s plan if a 27 year old doesn’t declines insurance and gets in a wreck, He will be in debt because he has to pay his on medical fees. Why the hell shouldn’t he pay for his own healthcare? If you decline health insurance, you know you will be paying out of pocket. Why do people *****ume because it’s health care it should be free. NO! You are an adult and should have a right to choose. I understand mandatory health for kids, but we live is a free/right to choose society.

    Z

Bossip, I have one question. Hypothetically if Obama did get elected. Do you really think white america would allow him to have free reign over him? They will have him on an extremely short leash. He will be a puppet. I truly cannot see him being president without some greasy fat white nasty rich man being Gapetto.

    nahnah

    Dr. Strangelove

I agree, but measurable CHANGE didn’t happen until President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

    ____________________________________

LBJ was a typtical racist who signed the bill solely due to the efforts of civil rights activists, including whites, who refused to settle until change took place.

Hillary was full of ***** when she made that claim because LBJ was pressured into signing it – as opposed to him wanting to sign it.

    AL Sharpton

    @Z

Its a shame you think so little of black people. Even a black president

    Dr. Strangelove

    @ Kdogg

JFK did introduce the legislation, true. However, it was LBJ (VP at the time) who urged him to do it. Further, the Civil Rights Bill was going to die in the House had JFK still been president. It was LBJ (who was from the South) who went out and used his “experience” to persuade democrats from the South to not block its p*****age.

    tj

OH GOD Nah Nah please don’t tell me you fall for Maxine Water’s “I’m an angry black woman but in an institutionalized way so when they tell me to shut up I do” routine.

Well I’m outta here. Really the fact remains that blacks vote for Obama 88% to 8. Black people shifted drastically to Obama during the Clinton’s inexcusable race baiting. The Clintons thought turning Obama into the “black” candidate would hurt him enough in the white communities in the south for her to win but it ended up just strengthening his black support and turning some of the democratic party establishment against the Clintons.

Obama will either win this or take it to the convention. At the convention democrats will consider the momentum of the Obama movement and the draw of luring independents and the fact that Obama can carry red state democrats into congress and Obama will be the nominee. They can’t not make Obama the nominee and win the presidency or keep the congress. The only chance for Clinton is to pressure him to withdrawal and I don’t think he’ll do it after he wins these next 8 in a row.

    raja

Everyone thinks blacks are voting for Obama because of his race. I don’t have a problem with people voting for him because he is black, because thats the same reason some people won’t vote for him. So in my book it’s wash.

    DC KITTEN

@ BOWHE AND BOSSIP ARE YOU GUYS CAMPAIGNING FOR OBAMA I MEAN COME ON GIVE IT A REST LET THEM VOTE FOR WHO THEY WANT AS A BLACK WOMAN IT DISGUSTS ME TO HEAR OTHER BLACK PEOPLE ALWAYS HOLLARING THIS RACE BULL CRAP GIVE IT UP IT WILL ONLY HURT OBAMA; I MEAN HIM AND HILIARY ARE COLL THIS POLITICS IS JUST POLITICS AFTER THE RACE THEY WILL STILL BE COOL AND WORK TOGETHER MY HOPE IS THAT WHICH EVER ONE (OBAMA, HILIARY) WINS WILL TAKE THE OTHER ON BOARD. THERE VIEWS ARE JUST ABOUT THE SAME JUST SPEECHED DIFFERENT AND IN DIFFERENT ORDER.

    …….

This is sheer fabrication. LBJ was reluctant to take up the cause of the Civil Rights act but did so at MARTIN LUTHER KINGS urging and under the threat of rising violence in democratic strongholds in the north.

The southern democrats of whom you speak are Dixiecrats. They left the party in response to the Civil rights act and did not vote for it. So LBJ didn’t pursuade a damn thing. Also when he was basically pressured into signing it he said “I have signed away the south for democrats for the next 3 generations” he said that because he didn’t REALLY want to sign it but had no choice.

    Coop

    @Dr. Strangelove

Sorry to correct you but it was JFK’s younger brother RFK who urged him to do it. And the only thing that should matter is that all three men played a role in getting it p*****ed.

He’s all talk just as Hillary is – and I would challenge some of you to disagree with me on a rational level.

The fact is, the two are rather similiar in their track records, so how is it fair to say Hillary is all talk and not Obama?

Certainly, Obama is better at it than Hillary. He incite positive emotions, and draw people to him, BUT – in a nutshell – he’s all talk. Another important thing is that Obama was on point with his marketing, and created a very successful campaign based on what he knows the majority of people want, which is ‘change’. He knows the people want change after nearly 8 years of hell we went through with the current illegal administration.

Additionally, he knows the average American doesn’t read, unless it’s about Britney Spears or Beyonce, so the fact that there’s nothing ‘hopeful’ about his track record doesn’t stop him from lying to millions of people. Not only that but he knows the media will *****ist him in keeping you all enslaved.

Can someone explain to me why the hispanic community for the most part is not supporting Barack Obama. I am not saying they have to, but since Hillary and Barack pretty much agree on most issues, what could possibly be the reason.

It is funny how other minorities have the audacity to look down on the black race and yet reap the benefits of our struggles. BTW – I know many hispanics are black and respect themselves as members of the black race. I am referring to black latinos who deny their blackness and non-black latinos.

Two things that are just plain STUPID for people to say and do.

    A. Don’t say that Obama doesn’t have experience, G. W. Bush is clearly not the brightest light . So there goes the experience thing. Don’t forget that OBAMA graduated from an Ivy Leage School, so he has the intellegence.

B . If you are going to hate on Hillary don’t do it because other people do. Thats just stupid. It’s like monkey see monkey do. That age old saying. If someone jumps off a bridge are you going to jump off one? So if you say “im not supporting Hillary because most other people don’t like her” You are just and idiot. Support someone or don’t support somoene based on their issues. IDIOTS.

If you are attempting to argue that Obama is the same caliber as past civil rights leaders, im waiting.

    ——————————————————————————————————

What are you talking about? Is Clinton a civil rights leader?

BTW the Civil Rights leaders didn’t start out as revered “Civil Rights leaders.” That term was bestowed upon them after the fact. The “Civil rights leader” moniker was not their goal. Change was.

In their time, they were considered radicals. Other Blacks wanted them to sit down. However, they were tired of the status quo, the power structure, the establishment. They were tired of being told that they “can’t.” Especially, b/c they were black.

MLK was shunned by other ministers. They jumped on board afterwards. For every 1 Rosa Parks, there were 100 black naysayers that wondered why she didn’t just give up her seat to avoid upsetting the balance. The Civil rights movement was a gr*****roots movement. The “Hope” transcended color. Whites believed in it as well.

    Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Lets do a comparison:

    1. Obama is Black

    2. Obama is anti-establishment

    3. Obama is Anti status-quo

    4. Obama’s campaign is really a gr*****roots campaign

    5. Obama’s supporters are considered radicals

    6. Some blacks think he should just sit down “America is not ready”

    7. Obama has been shunned by ministers even though they have started to get on the bandwagon

    8. Obama’s message transcends race.

    9. Obama’s motto is “YES WE CAN!”

No, we don’t use the term “Civil Rights leader” on Obama…yet. That’s not his goal. His goal is changing the status quo. His goal is changing the face of America. Has had to face the jail time, water hoses, dogs, police brutality or klan threat? No. But he has been stabbed in the back a few times. (By black people) Et tu brute?

    Coop

    @nahnah

Sometime it is true but it can apply to a wide range of people. So maybe it should be “Angry Person”

    Dr. Strangelove

    @ TJ

What is fabricated? LBJ was taking up the civil rights issue with JFK in 1961. The fact that LBJ could have done nothing about Civil Rights knowing he would lose his base speaks volumes. He couldn’t have been afraid to lose the black vote by not urging it, THE ACT GUARANTEED BLACKS THE VOTE!

    @ Coop

In any legislation, it takes multiple people to work out the details and I am sure that RFK had a hand in it, but he urged the VOTING RIGHTS ACT of 1965 more than the Civil Rights Act.

Lastly, ask yourself why did JFK vote AGAINST the Civil Rights Act of 1957, created by Eisenhower?

    WhatTheHell?

We all know politics are dirty. Obama has come this far without selling his soul. Unfortunately, a lot of blacks in high positions are spoiled, egocentric, sheisty and greedy. But, the people will not be denied. It’s time for the people to take back this so called democracy and make it a democracy for real. I’ve never given money to any candidate ever, but I’m gonna donate to Obama. It’s that serious.

    Kdogg

LBJ was a typtical racist who signed the bill solely due to the efforts of civil rights activists, including whites, who refused to settle until change took place.

Hillary was full of ***** when she made that claim because LBJ was pressured into signing it – as opposed to him wanting to sign it.

oooo, our hope seems to be harpin on obama. if u ppl think obama is gonna become president, and change the state of black america…not going to happen. when he gets into to office, he has a four years atleast to get somethign done. The ECONOMY is failing fast (for those who dont’ pay attention), the WAR is the big thing, there’s health care, people losing their homes……now where do u think blacks fall on his to do list when he gets into office. I don’t see Obama no different than i see hiliary. at the end of the day, he’s still a politician.

All of these people have done more for black people than Obama will do in his entire life. “2. Obama is anti-establishment

    3. Obama is Anti status-quo

    4. Obama’s campaign is really a gr*****roots campaign

    5. Obama’s supporters are considered radicals”

If Obama is so anti everything bad, please read this…

    From the Chicago Tribune-

“Even as Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has promoted a large following of small-dollar contributors representing ordinary Americans, his campaign has built an old-school political fundraising machine that relies heavily on the wealthy and the powerful, including a Chicago-based hedge fund manager who earned $1.4 billion last year.

The network of fundraisers generating money for the Illinois senator’s campaign includes a heavy representation of attorneys at well-connected law firms and members of the financial industry, including highly paid managers of hedge funds and private equity funds whose lofty compensations have recently generated public controversy.

    * * * * *

Despite the media attention the campaign has grabbed by attracting 258,000 donors — in many cases people of modest means who have given over the Internet — a much smaller group of large donors provides most of the funds for the campaign. And those large donors are best tapped through fundraisers who can call on networks of acquaintances and business *****ociates who can easily write big checks.

The bundlers are crucial to raising money for a presidential primary campaign because federal law limits individuals to contributions of no more than $2,300 per candidate.

Sixty percent of the Obama campaign’s funds come from people who have given at least $1,000 — the kind of donors who are most often recruited by bundlers. Less than 30 percent of his contributions came from people who gave less than $200.”

    Dr. Strangelove

one last thing, black women are losing their homes at a faster rate than any other ethnic or gender group.

Since so many black folk want to ride Obama, has he made any significant reference to the numbers that show BLACK women are losing their homes faster than any other group? Neither candidate has, but if he is to be this messiah to black folk, I would expect him to address it.

    nahnah

    3. Do you have sources to back up the claim that Obama’s supporters are considered radicals? It seems to me like the majority of his supporters are pretty much ‘in the middle’.

    4. Hillary and every other candidate out there have messages that transcends race. NOT just Obama.

    ________________________________

Obama isn’t fighting a fight here – he’s fighting to gain power. There’s nothing ‘radical’ about Obama – he’s pretty ’status quo’, AND THAT IS WHY THE MAJORITY OF AMERICA LOVES HIM. More importantly, that is why the MEDIA loves him. Especially a media that doesn’t like change, unless it’s a change that will increase their pockets.

    Mike Gravel – CHANGE.

    Dennis Kucinich – CHANGE.

    Ron Paul – CHANGE.

And what happened to the three? Yes, two dropped out because they were being censored by the media. And one is still fighting for a chance, even when the media is still attempting to slander his name AND is censoring him. He’s also having to deal with vote fraud against him.

Do you really think the white supremacist establishment that exist in America would still allow Obama to stand here and get all this love and press if he was really about ‘change’? Change for whom? Certainly not BLACK people, because America hates BLACK people. Change for BLACK people would be an abolishment of the racist drug laws; a revamp of the racist criminal system; and many other SYSTEMATIC issues that are affecting black people.

And just because he uses the ‘I’m against the usual politics and dirty tricks’ in Washington doesn’t mean he’s really against them. He needed to sell himself to the public, and that is what he’s done. As a black man, he’s taken a different approach in order to stand out. However, he’s 100% typical.

Lastly, not supporting a black person doesn’t mean he’s been stabbed in the back. Dr. King was stabbed in the back because he brought about REAL CHANGE – meaning he was imprisoned, and hated, and ultimately DIED for our rights.

Frankly, it’s utterly insulting to sit here and compare a man of truth and vision to some Washington puppet.

Have you ever heard of the radical middle?

Eking out a bare Democratic majority isn’t good enough. What’s needed is a broad majority of Americans — Democrats, Republicans, and independents of goodwill — who are reengaged in the project of national renewal”

Barack Obama, The Audacity of Hope (2006)

[Ordinary citizens] are waiting for a politics with the maturity to balance idealism and realism, to distinguish between what can and cannot be compromised, to admit the possibility that the other side might sometimes have a point. They don’t always understand the arguments between right and left, conservative and liberal, but they recognize the difference between dogma and common sense, responsibility and irresponsibility, between those things that last and those that are fleeting. I don’t know if any of you heard of the saying,”When America sneezes the rest of the world shakes” – Simply said – With the United States widely believed to be moving into recession, if it has not already arrived, the key question is how much of the rest of the world will it drag down with it.

After 9/11followed by the war in Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia the US has left it self open and venerable – these are direct result of Bill Clinton’s inaction in the 1990’s to take the terrorists seriously doubled by the blunders in Somalia/Kossovo which weakened America’s position in the world.

That being said blame should also go to the current Bush administration due to their sheer incompetence which has lead this country into a recession and further weakened the position of the US through their ignorant and ill informed foreign policies.

These are dangerous times and America needs to rethink its position. America needs a change – Barak Obama is a fresh start – We had enough of the Bush and Clinton Dynasty.

Black People Wakeup!!! The Clinton’s could care less about us after all weren’t they quick to take the race card out on Obama through the aid of self promoting blacks. Although she won’t say that these were aimed directly to help black folk, had they not been blocked, they almost certainly had a positive impact on our race.

When you review the numbers, its blacks, poor whites, and hispanics who are likely not to have access to proper medical care and education.

It took 8 years for us to get back to the white house, we should allow our democratic establishment to work for our benefit and not for well spoken popularity.

Obama means well, but being inexperienced, he will not know how to bring our country back to global fitness. You don’t just hand something so important to someone just because speeches and commercials are drummed out to try to overtake our senses.

We need to take a couple deep breaths and look at the records/experience of these two candidates.

Obama should take the time to groom himself for that position if he wants it, earn it. We shouldn’t put him there on an inspirational speech.

Hell, even JFK had done more to prove himself as a leader in congress.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the so-called Black leaders try to undermine Obama. Think about it…if Obama becomes the next president(the most powerful man in the U.S.), then the “leaders” can’t honestly argue that racism is a barrier to working hard and acheiving your dreams.

Forget the ink that’s been spilled over the last two years on the Senator’s mixed-race heritage, speaking style, and 2008 Presidential prospects. Just shut all that off for a minute and look at what Obama actually does and says in this book, which appears to have been written by the man himself (with plenty of vetting by his young and talented staff).

I suspect you’ll be as startled as I am. And as heartened.

What he does (The ring of authenticity)

Unlike most national politicians in their political memoirs or campaign books, Obama presents himself as a vulnerable, imperfect, and still-growing human being.

Since most of us are like that too, the effect is empowering. On a great many pages you’ll think, “I’ve been there — I’ve felt that!”

Obama’s description of his quasi-New Age upbringing is especially engrossing, and his eventual religious baptism (as an adult) has the ring of authenticity.

He mentions, fleetingly, a youthful experimentation with drugs. He lets you know — without making a big deal of it — that he spent three years as a community organizer before deciding to go to law school.

He discusses his high-powered-lawyer wife’s ambivalence toward his political career in such detail that you’ll end up worrying whether they can in fact stay together for the long haul.

He worries too. “I attend parent-teacher conferences and dance recitals, and my daughters bask in my adoration,” he writes. “And yet, of all the areas of my life, it is in my capacities as a husband and father that I entertain the most doubt.”

After so many politicians that pretend to be “perfect” and come off packaged and remote, it is a joy to encounter one that merely strives, mightily, to be good.

    tRUTH

What he says (Radical middle perspective)

Some reviewers fault Obama for being unclear about his politics. In fact, his political perspective is perfectly clear — it just doesn’t fit easily onto the old left-right political spectrum.

It can be characterized as “radical middle.” His book fits easily into the recent lineage of radical middle books by U.S. policy *****ysts, stretching from Ted Halstead and Michael Lind’s The Radical Center to Matt Miller’s The Two Percent Solution to my own Radical Middle to John Avlon’s Independent Nation

Basically, “radical middle” means that you take ideas from everywhere, and use those ideas to construct public policies that are at once pragmatic and imaginative.

Again and again in The Audacity of Hope, Obama faults Democrats (not just Republicans) for their lack of imagination. He goes so far as to say, “The Democratic Party has become the party of reaction. In reaction to a war that is ill conceived, we appear suspicious of all military action. In reaction to those who proclaim the market can cure all ills, we resist efforts to use market principles to tackle pressing problems.”

Later he says, “Republicans are fighting the [policy] war they waged and won in the eighties, while Democrats are . . . defending the New Deal programs of the thirties. Neither strategy will work anymore.”

When Obama turns to how we should proceed, his guidelines are from the radical middle playbook. This p*****age could have been taken from my own book Radical Middle:

[Ordinary citizens] are waiting for a politics with the maturity to balance idealism and realism, to distinguish between what can and cannot be compromised, to admit the possibility that the other side might sometimes have a point. They don’t always understand the arguments between right and left, conservative and liberal, but they recognize the difference between dogma and common sense, responsibility and irresponsibility, between those things that last and those that are fleeting.

They are out there, waiting for Republicans and Democrats to catch up with them.

On the lower frequencies, Obama is equally radical middle.

When he engages, again and again, in racial truth-telling, you’ll be reminded of radical middle thinker John McWhorter’s Winning the Race (2005),

When he champions “the call to find common ground,” you’ll think immediately of the work of the respected and proto-radical-middle organization Search for Common Ground.

When he speaks of the overriding need for good teachers (”the single most important factor in determining a student’s achievement isn’t the color of his skin . . . but who the child’s teacher is”), you’ll hear echoes — maybe more — of Matt Miller’s influential chapters on education in The Two Percent Solution, referenced above.

When he speaks of Alexander Hamilton as a founding father who may be more significant for us than Jefferson now (because he understood that “the resources and power of the national government can facilitate, rather than supplant, a vibrant free market”), you’ll be reminded of The Radical Center co-author Michael Lind’s revisionist anthology Hamilton’s Republic (1997).

And when he speaks of our democracy “not as a house to be built, but as a conversation to be had” — and of our Constitution as “designed to force us into a conversation, a ‘deliberative democracy’ in which all citizens are required to engage in a process of testing their ideas” — you’ll be reminded of the new “trans-partisan” political organization Reuniting America.

Toward the end of the book you’ll be introduced to Obama’s policy director, Karen Kornbluh — the former director of the Work and Family Program at Ted Halstead’s New America Foundation, the prin*****l “radical centrist” (its phrase) think tank in Washington DC.

    tRUTH

    Radical middle process imperatives

The first half of Obama’s book discusses what can fairly be called radical middle process imperatives.

Primary among them is to start building a new, trans-partisan majority:

I believe any attempt by Democrats to pursue a more sharply partisan and ideological strategy misapprehends the moment we’re in. . . . It’s precisely the pursuit of ideological purity . . . that keeps us from finding new ways to meet the challenges we face. . . . Eking out a bare Democratic majority isn’t good enough. What’s needed is a broad majority of Americans — Democrats, Republicans, and independents of goodwill — who are reengaged in the project of national renewal.

At the end of that road is what Obama senses is already fitfully occurring, “a constant cross-pollination . . . , a not entirely orderly but generally peaceful collision among people and cultures. Identities are scrambling, and then cohering in new ways. Beliefs keep slipping through the noose of predictability. . . .”

In other words, for old-style liberals and conservatives, notions like “tolerance” and “don’t tread on me” sum up the ideal. But for Obamaists, the ideal is more ambitious. It is for us to become a new and blended people, 21st century Americans — which involves learning to absorb each other’s priorities and strengths.

It is a wonderful ideal. And a quintessentially radical middle one.

    tRUTH

    Radical middle public policies

The second half of Obama’s book advocates many radical middle public policies — trans-partisan, pragmatic, and creative.

Obama almost always expresses himself in an extraordinarily thoughtful and balanced way. For example, “Parents have the primary responsibility for instilling an ethic of hard work and educational achievement in their children. But parents rightfully expect their government, through the public schools, to serve as full partners in the education process.”

It is wonderful to watch a national politician thinking complexly and out loud. You really have to read this part of the book to grasp how unusual Obama’s performance is.

But this section isn’t all feel-good thoughtfulness and balance. There are lots of trans-partisan policy specifics. For example:

    – all K-12 teachers should be paid more, but only if their pay is connected to the quality of their teaching, and only if ineffective teachers can be fired

    – “we should end every single tax break the [oil] industry currently receives and demand that 1% of the revenues from oil companies with over $1 billion in quarterly profits go toward financing alternative energy research and the necessary infrastructure. . . . Countries like Brazil have already done this”

    – the “single biggest thing” we can do to reduce inner-city poverty is to “encourage teenage girls to finish high school and avoid having children out of wedlock. In this effort, school- and community-based programs that have a proven track record” should be expanded

    – we should make the juggling of work and parenting easier “by making high-quality day care affordable for every family that needs it”

    – “there will be times when we must . . . play the role of the world’s reluctant sheriff. . . . On the other hand, it’s time we acknowledge that a defense budget and force structure built prin*****lly around the prospect of World War III makes little strategic sense”

Hillary Clinton is NOT evil. By trashing her without any back-up you are basically resorting to what the old white “plantation” masters used to do to the character of black people.

They used to spread myths and lies about black people being dumb and not being able to live on their own in order to keep us supressed.

By doing this to Clinton (and those who support her), Bossip is proving that they are the ones who are “Plantation Minded” — only they want to be MASTER.

Total B.S. to the people who buy into that. You need to re-think they way you act out and write in hatred.

Take off your Rose Colored Gl*****es and THINK for once. Support whoever you want, but you don’t have to bash others for thier support either.

That just shows ingnorance and acceptance of beating people down for their beliefs. If you want this country to regress, than just keep doing what your doing.

If you TRULY want change, then you need to take the higher road and stop being such ignorant f**ks.

I just have to say that im so disappointed in the older more established african american (so called leaders) would turn their backs on a strong, upright, and intelligent black man running for the president of the United States. It lets me know that all that preaching and complaining about african americans don’t get a fair shot at anything is just BS. To me personally they just spit in the face of all the proud blacks leaders from the past. And for what because 10 years ago Bill Clinton gave them a couple of dollars and said “Ok nig… here you go now make sure we keep the thing going when my wife runs for office” Black America WAKE UP everything is truely not what it seems…no matter how much you like Bill and Hillary they only deal with you is to get a damn vote other than that he wouldn’t show up to any black function. Remember he fell asleep when they were honoring Martin Luther King. Don’t let uncle Tom’s like Bob Johnson and company make you believe they don’t get anything out of supporting the Clinton’s…these people profit from them that’s the only reason they stand up Hillary…they will sell their souls for a dollar like prostitutes…don’t be fooled Barack is Righteous and we need true leadership in a time like this.

@ Kdogg wrote, “What are you talking about? Whites believed in it as well.”

Damn. That is deep. I love reading your posts. That is definitely something to think and reflect upon. Thank you, KDogg.

    tj

As far as the talk of Martin Luther King goes I think it’s important to note that as a Civil Rights leader he was far more radical than white people would like you to believe. This whole idea that Martin Luther King begged Lyndon Johnson and Lyndon Johnson felt sorry for him and created a civil rights act is the idea that Hillary Clinton is trying to perpetuate and that is not at all the case. The civil rights movement was successful because of its violent component that allowed the non-violent movement to speak softly and carry a big stick where radicalism was implied.

White people actually thought Martin Luther King was threatening them with physical harm toward the end of his life and he was fiercely hated and thought to be a shakedown artists by the time of his death.

So Martin Luther King and Barack Obama are completely different. One’s mainstream, trying to promote change from the inside out. Martin Luther King affected change from the outside in.

    tj

And that change came in spite of LBJ not because of him. If you think LBJ gave you the civil rights act then I guess you believe Lincoln freed the slaves out of the kindness of his own heart.

@Jsay, bossip does need to provide more substance since they’re now endorsing a candidate. I’m glad they’re trying, though, with providing phone numbers and weblinks as they’ve begun to. And I’d rather it for Obama than for Hillary ‘Scorched Earth’ Clinton. This is not a ‘normal’ election year; and Bossip — Jew owned or not — is doing what would have been done in the old days, back when black folk were more united. Things have changed, for better and worse. But yeah, much more substance can be given.

I wish Lossip would follow, for their own readership and their own readerships’ concerns.

@ tRuth, thank you for the excerpts. I’d never heard of Radical middle before. I’m not going to agree with everything written, or every policy, but ***** it.

@ Dana’ — thank you, thank you, thank you.

@ Morning — that was cold, but that was truth.

@ jusplayit04, something like that. When I found out Maxine Waters husband had received that amb*****adorship from the Clintons, it all clicked about what she owed the Clintons. And that’s all good. That’s how politics is played, tit for tat and this for that. But it ain’t real, and supporting the Clintons is not about what’s in the best interests of America… Maxine owes the Clintons, therefore, the Clintons own her. Business, nothing personal.

@Bret, she owes the clintons…….. kind of like Obama owes half the Kennedys. Except the Kennedys only gave Obama an endorsement (and the New York Kennedys are endorsing Hillary, apparently, they need her help with getting her Senator seat if she gives it up), they didn’t give Obama a job. There’s heart, and there’s business. I’m with the folks here who say that if Hillary wasn’t running, Bill would be all over Obama trying to help Obama — hell, Obama himself originally said without hesitation he would welcome Bill in his cabinet. But something has gone down, and it’s the nasty way this ***** has turned between the Clintons and Obama. It was Bill who started it. Apparently, Bill is the one who advised getting dirty. Dirtier, rather. But all that to say, if Hillary weren’t in the race, Maxine would probably be supporting Obama. And if not… if she would support Edwards or Richardson or Biden before Obama…………… what does that say about her heart? particularly since she’s supporting Hillary before any of those men to begin with?

@ Nicole and Coop, y’all are going on about “You guys sound just as bad as George Bush. If you’re not for us, you’re against us!”

well, guess who’s campaign is using scorched earth ‘if you’re not for us, you’re against us?’ bull*****? who’s being accused of tearing apart the Democratic Party for their own ambition?

who got called out in an op/ed piece in the New York Times — a paper which had endorsed them, mind you — for trying to destroy an apparently respected and well-liked fellow Democrat, Jim Cooper of Tennessee, who had his own health care reform proposal….. a proposal which did not include ‘employer mandates’ to force people into it, as Hillary’s did…. for daring to come up to Hillary with his own suggestions? for daring to have bipartisan support for it?

who got called out for telling lies about Cooper? who got called out for trying to force other Democrats into denouncing Cooper (who only wanted to present a better alternative for healthcare reform in America) on tape?

if that ain’t ‘if you’re not for us you’re against us’, I don’t know what is. Hillary seems to think that people are morons and have to be forced into *****. Hillary seems to believe that us ‘little people’ don’t matter, and that it’s the top who leads… thus, her bull***** about LBJ over MLK and JFK (who didn’t matter in her world because he died). Well, there’s a huge difference between RFK using the national guard to enforce the law when people don’t want to follow the constitution……. and what Hillary is doing.

Hillary has issues. Ask her mama. We don’t need her issues, and we don’t need her scorched earth ‘my way or the highway’ bull*****. That’s fine for bull*****ting — but this is the presidency. We need healing and curing as a nation, not more divisiveness.

The Clintons are willing to destroy everyone to get what they want.

But y’all want to condemn Bush for ‘my way or the highway’ while supporting the Clintons. Ok. It’s a free country, still, for now.

    Kee-Gee

    @Serene

You dont answer a question with a question. I am not knocking Hilliary so calm down, I have not decided who I am voting for and I am seeking information from all different sources and forums, from different kinds of people all other the country. I keep hearing and reading the Clintons good to black folks comment, and as I stated in a earlier post, due to my age, I was not into politics during that time as I could not vote. Please dont respond to me if you can not provide insight, as I do not wish to get into petty squabbles regarding this serious issue.

Also people please think about Universal Healthcare. Don’t just jump on board with something because it sounds good. If you can’t afford healthcare you don’t want universal healthcare you want affordable healthcare. Unless you are okay with the government taking more money out of your paycheck and penalties for being unemployed and not being able to pay for healthcare. Under Hillary’s plan it would literally cost you to live the way you can’t drive without insurance in most states you would be illegal to live without health insurance. THINK ABOUT THAT.

If it’s just that Jews own the site, but blacks are writing the titles and the pieces, that’s different. Jews can own the site, while blacks put the work into the site. I don’t know how many black owned sites there are.

    nahnah speaks the truth.

People, especially Bossip, are hyping Obama up to be the next Dr. King. *****ody cares to realize that the United States of America is a majority white country, pretty much run by large corporations, the media, and special interest groups. Everyone here is screaming about hope and change, and how Obama will change the game. If this man was seriously about change, and people knew, he would not be having the same success that he is having right now. He will be right there with Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, and Mike Gravel, ignored by the media, or victims of voter fraud and smear campaigns.

Up to now, no one has been able to, like a rational human being, show what this man believes in or what he plans to do to IMPROVE America for the PEOPLE. What is his position on the war on drugs? Welfare? Taxes? what about REAL ISSUES affecting black people? matter of fact, what about REAL ISSUES affecting ALL people? Not only socially, but financially. What about the national debt? Social Security? “YES WE CAN” doesn’t count.

Seriously, we all need to question how everything works, instead of just accepting it because it looks good to us. Barack’s skin color may match ours (and honestly, I believe that this is the main reason the majority of you bossip readers support him) but he DOES NOT represent black people, or the American people in general. He, just like Hillary, just like McCain and Romney, represent big business, the corporate elite that continues to pull the strings.

Yes, I understand that having a black man in office would be something for the history books, but is it going to do much else for us? NO. You think that he is going to have the same effect as Dr. King? NO. Obama has never been about the people, and never will be.

I know a lot of people will attack me, but I ask you to look beyond what you see on TV. You will even have a hard time finding out answers on the internet, because even hardware and the content is for the most part owned by the same corporations that have a hand in running this country. (AT&T owns most of the pipes, Google pretty much owns the most effective way to find information, etc.) Go to the library, read about how modern governments work, how lobbyists get things done, and how large corporations affect laws and government, and maybe you will see where I’m getting at.

Ignorant Black People- this is what happens when you have no college and a minimal education. Half of you Black people are voting for Obama because he is Black. That is so dumb and look at you Bossip telling people to vote because he is Black. Obama has no experience. He has been in the Senate for 2 plus years. These Black leaders are right. Don’t hate on them because they know a President with as little experience as Obama could cost us as Americans a lot. Obama will not make it because of his limited experience. He may be ready in another four years. He’s not ready now!!

TJ, Nita, and Kdogg…you guys posted some really good historical material…Tj I’m so happy at what you posted…how dare people try to play the civil rights movement saying it was weak…Those people…my ancestors you ancestors, we sprayed with heavy duty water from fire hoses, some secretly set on fire, constantly disrespected, spat in the face, beaten..n you dare call that weak?…people of today couldn’t survive 1 day of that.

    sillyme

Obama does not care about black folks. You’ll find that out when/if he gets elected. He’s going to spend all his time trying to make white folks happy. He knows he’s got the black folks in back pocket, just because he’s black. He NEEDS white folks to get him elected, and re-elected, and they’re the ones he will have to appease. Someone asked what Clinton has done for black people; well, what has Obama done?

    marla williams

IT is sooo FUNNY to hear some of these comments about OBAMA! MARTIN LUTHER KING would have been sadden by US/ BLACK PEOPLE not voting for him and giving him a CHANCE to prove himself.. HILLARY had her chance Twice with her HUSBAND BILL its over… WE NEED NEW PEOPLE IN THE WHITE HOUSE AND NOT A WOMAN!! women cannot handle this kind of job we are to EMOTIONAL!! when BILL makes her mad SHE WILL PUSH THE BUTTON!! NO OTHER COUNTRY will RESPECT OUR PRESIDENT IF IT IS A WOMAN! THEY DONT respect there WOMEN.. WE WILL BE IN TROUBLE AND THEY WILL BE COMING THRU OUR BOARDERS>…..

    Lady Architect

Jaime where’s her experience? Having experience as a president means being a president before…encountering, undegoing, has contextual knowledge in…they both are senators…so in that case they both are experienced…should his daughter run next?

    Lady Architect

if you gonna vote for I won’t knock you but stop saying you voting for her “experience”…tell me something about her poilicies cause from what I’ve read their policies are similar besides immigration and that universal healthcare policy that i truely dislike as an adult.

I think u peeps who support barack need to check out what happened to jimmy carter. Jimmy Carter is a real decent guy. He inspired many and was elected to the white house. But he couldn’t get anything done.

Mr. Carter chose his cabinet from both sides of the aisle (which obama will prob. do, given the devisivness in the democratic party) and his inexperience coupled with the undermining of the republicans made his presidency a failure.

Don’t forget the repbulicans tried to do clinton the same way, until he froze the govt’ and made them look like fools.

The republican will come up with something new and veiled to get obama and I think it will be easy because of his wide-eyed inexperience.

Jimmy Carter has accompolished more as a citizen than he did as a president. Accompolishing acheivements that he should have accompolished while president, especially his international diplomatic acheivements.

Did u guys know that he couldn’t broker a deal to free american hostages in the middle east? It was later learned that some shady republicans brokered a deal for those hostages to be release once Reagan took office.

I attribute that to Carter’s inexperience. He didn’t even have command enough to know how to use special government staff to broker the deal or to know that shady Americans were undermining him.

Sure, I would love to have an African American president and be responsible for electing him!

But he/she has to be ready, because whomever I chose to vote for, had better be able to handle representing me and pulling us out of this disaray that out country is in locally and internationally.

If we put the wrong democrat in office, the republicans will have a field day; further sullying the country and making it look like the democrats fault.

For those that question Barack and say what has he done. Without even looking at the past, he’s changed the nature of this presidential election. It is HIS leadership that has caused the campaign to remain relatively positive. Hillary and Bill just went with what they knew (their “experience”) and tried to play the divisive, negative campaign. The difference between Hillary and Barack is the difference between a good manager and a good leader. A good leader (Barack) is needed to really effect change. A good manager (Hillary) is needed to keep everything running just like it has in the past. She’s good at what she does and I’ll vote for her if Barack doesn’t get the nomination. But she doesn’t even come close to Barack, not as a person, as a leader, and certainly not as a President!

Um…I have been holding this in for weeks but I have to share my two cents. Dear “people behind Bossip” — do you realize how stupid you sound when you post about Obama? This is a gossip blog, not npr.com…It is disgusting how you constantly disrepect “negroes” who support anybody but Obama…it is for this raeson that the morons behind the mainstream media believe “all colored folk” are a monolithic voting bloc. No offense, but it would be one thing to endorse and keep it keep it moving. It is even ok and great to encourage people to vote, but to constantly ride on this “negroes who support a candidate other than the messiah are evil tirade” is really silly and pretty ignorant. I love to come to this site to see whats going on gossip wise, but it is a tad irrritating to read your babbling posts about why everyone who supports Hillary is evil. The greatest thing about America is that we as black people have a choice between two people who wil do more for the “black community” than McCain or anyone else on the republican side. Fall back on the Hillary persecution, your argument would be more effective if you focus on what is positive about Obama. I support him as well, but anyone who thinks the Clintons are racist and anyone who supports them is “bought” is an idiot. This post probably won’t appear but I had to share because your political posts are reckless and idiotic..Lets get Obama elected by encouraging people to vote, not by making up silly slander about another candidate who would make just as good of as a President. I still waiver between the both of them and that doesn’t make me an Uncle Tom. Regardless of who gets elected I am still going to be stopped when I’m driving my SUV at night and will still be chased around Bergdoffs when I shop. I am more concerned with who is going to get the country back on track…and a candidates race or gender does not play a factor. Anyone who votes for Obama because he is black, anyne who votes for McCain because he is Vietnam vet and anyone who votes for Hillary because she is a woman is AN IDIOT and should give up their right to vote to one of the many illegal immigrants who given the chance would do more research on the candidates than most of America does. I encourage all those who are educated to forget endorsements, disregard all the B.S. Chris Matthews like misinformation, and listen to the candidates as they debate and make speeches and address the issues that matter to you. Forgo the biased media coverage as your main source of info, they unfortunately have a hidden agenda. Do your own research..find out about their health care plans, their thoughts on economic stimulus, their views on immigration, their policies on Sudan , Kenya, etc..their thoughts on how to employ more black youth during the summer, their views on disparate sentences for crack vs. cocaine sentencing, their thoughts on private lenders gouging black students on student loan fees and repayment policies, etc…

Two more cents – I have to ride with “the people behind Bossip” re: Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton – they both need to fall back on their random boycotts and let people like Obama and Harold Ford take the helm…They are creatures of the media and will only go away when we ignore them.

That said, and back to my original point SHUT UP BOSSIP — your policy/political *****ysis is similar to what it would be like to read about the pros and cons of a single payer health care system in SMOOTH Magazine…neither makes any sense..Keep promoting Obama without the anti Clinton bashing. Stick with “who is more banging”…

    Remy Hall

one more thing…i posted before scanning the comments..WOW how old are you all ..average age in here must be 16..I didn’t even intend on coming off as pro-clinton, but if you youngsters think that Charlie Rangel, Maxine Waters, etc are only supporting Hillary because they “owe Bill” then I encourage you to use your high school or college library’s lexis nexis account so you can read some articles on what all of them have stood for and fought for. Maybe I am biased because I am 30, I read the Wall Street Journal and other publications every morning, but kids stop sounding foolish. You are deciding to marginalize black politicians who have grinded for years behind the scenes on our behalf because they are endorsing someone other than Obama. Yikes..is reading and researching no longer sacred? And to the character who said no other country would respect this country if we elected a woman..you must be a I Love New York and Flavor of Love fan. Please get an education..evenif its a University of Phoenix online degree. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Good to dialogue but it is important to always have substance in your message. Leave the slave mentality in the history books. Shut the booty shaking videos on BET off, put the KING magazine down, start snitching, stop buying 50 cents and souljah boy albums, and start catching up on what is going on politically…and for the love ofGod do not extrapolate the legend of great MLK with ANYONE..that is offensive and tactless. He was an individual and probably would encourage black folk to use their time in the ballot box effectively, not to vote for the dude who was black because he is black…Ok..enough said.

    carolinagirl

Our country is in serious trouble. The gap between the wealthy elite and the working majority grows ever larger, tens of millions of Americans lack health insurance and others risk bankruptcy when they get seriously ill, and many public schools do a poor job of educating the next generation. Due to the arrogant, inept foreign policy of the current administration, more people abroad mistrust and fear the United States than at any time since the height of the Vietnam War. Meanwhile, global warming speeds toward an unprecedented catastrophe. Many Republicans and overwhelming numbers of Independents and Democrats believe that, under George W. Bush, the nation has badly lost its way. The 2008 election thus comes at a critical time in the history of the United States and the world.

We endorse Barack Obama for president because we think he is the candidate best able to address and start to solve these profound problems. As historians, we understand that no single individual, even a president, leads alone or outside a thick web of context. As Abraham Lincoln wrote to a friend during the Civil War, “I claim not to have controlled events, but confess plainly that events have controlled me.”

However, a president can alter the mood of the nation, making changes possible that once seemed improbable. Lincoln signed the Eman*****tion Proclamation and kept the nation united; Franklin D. Roosevelt persuaded Americans to embrace Social Security and more democratic workplaces; John F. Kennedy advanced civil rights and an anti-poverty program.

Barack Obama has the potential to be that kind of president. He has the varied background of a global citizen: his father was African, his stepfather Indonesian, his mother worked in the civil rights movement, and he spent several years of his childhood overseas. As an adult, he has been a community organizer, a law professor, and a successful politician – both at the state and national level. These experiences have given him an acute awareness of the inequalities of race and cl*****, while also equipping him to speak beyond them.

Obama’s platform is ambitious, yet sensible. He calls for negotiating the abolition of nuclear weapons, providing universal and affordable health insurance, combatting poverty by adding resources and discouraging destructive habits, investing in renewable energy sources, and engaging with unfriendly nations to ease conflicts that could otherwise lead to war. He takes more forthright stands on these issues than do his major Democratic competitors.

But it is his qualities of mind and temperament that really separate Obama from the rest of the pack. He is a gifted writer and orator who speaks forcefully but without animus. Not since John F. Kennedy has a Democrat candidate for president showed the same combination of charisma and thoughtfulness – or provided Americans with a symbolic opportunity to break with a tradition of bigotry older than the nation itself. Like Kennedy, he also inspires young people who see him as a great exception in a political world that seems mired in cynicism and corruption.

As president, Barack Obama would only begin the process of healing what ails our society and ensuring that the U.S. plays a beneficial role in the world. But we believe he is that rare politician who can stretch the meaning of democracy, who can help revive what William James called “the civic genius of the people.”

HAH funny I do like the Fox news comment…but sorry that is not where I get my facts from

Coop you are like an ostrich with its head in the sand – you have your reality and I have mine – and the statement “PRESIDENT CLINTON AND VICE PRESIDENT GORE Working on Behalf of African Americans” what a joke- do you really have your head that deep in the sand

Sadly like many blacks you have a false understanding of economic conditions of black people during the Clinton era. In fact, blacks continue to lag behind whites when it comes to employment, income and wealth. The argument “Thank God we are not where we used to be” is just not good enough in 2008. The civil right era has come and gone and this black woman can not be appeased anymore.

I don’t know where your facts came from but if you want to check mine please refer to the Journal of Black studies site: http://jbs.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/35/5/650

Do I think the Clintons are all together bad, certainly not, but I do think that aside from economic issues there are other concerns such as foreign policy and America’s and national security. If America does not change/revise its policies.. which in some cases have been in existence prior to the Cold War in Africa(east Africa Somalia, Sudan Ethiopia), Asia (mainly China, Afghanistan and Middle east)and Latin America (Cuba and Venezuela)then this country will remain venerable.

The Clinton’s employ the same old foreign policies as their predecessors – Bill Clinton’s p*****ive approach to fighting terrorism and his inability to recognize the threat that Bin Ladin would pose and his shameless attempt to distract American’s from his looming impeachment by staging an unprovoked attack on Sudan, him snoring when innocent Tutsis and moderate Hutus where being butchered in Ruwanda, American defeat and hasty withdrawal in Somalia and ignoring the Taliban rule in Afghanistan are unforgivable failures of the Clinton administration. One might argue that these were Bills failures, but if you look closely Hilary and her husband employ the same ideas and that is why I would rather take my chances with Obama – like I said before, Barack is a fresh start and America sure does need change…so there is your wake up call Coop.

    Lucy

    @carolinagirl

Well said – I agree with you on every point. Barack Obama is both inspiring on national and international level – his background, experience (personal and professional)and vision are what make him credible in my eyes.

    sflachuck

While I pleased that there is a growing political movement within the black community, I am concerned that we are not approaching this presidential election in the proper manner. Obama has surged in popularity, which is great and has energized the Democratic party. However, you must remember he is a politician and this more than a ride on a bandwagon. Trust if he gets elected, he will be pushing some policies you won’t like because he WiLL have to answer to non-black constituents and corporate America. Sadly, the democratic bid for the nomination has already turned into a race war and the mainstream media LOVES it. It will have nothing to do with policy. I believe if Obama doesn’t get the nomination, most of you will not even parti*****te in the November election. And that is WRONG. I have been a Hillary supporter since 1992. Now I’m being told if I support her, then I am against the black race and I have a plantation mentality. Those statements are unfair. In fact, this is the same arguement Republicans used in 1999, except that time they were saying you weren’t a Christian unless you voted for Bush and the conservatives. Look what happened (twice). I have heard very little about Obama and his platform until last month. I don’t want Obama to become president and then be constantly criticized or fail because he didn’t have a full foundation or the support he needs. I know in order to get anything done in this country, you must have a plan, some charisma, lots of respect and powerful influence in Washington. Clinton already has it. Obama is earning it. I think it’s unfair that so many of you childishly are bashing the Clintons when most of the 90s were prosperous for minorities who took advantage of the opportunities that were available to us. Negative issues in the Black community usually had nothing to do with Bill or Hillary. It was mainly “us” not taking care of “ourselves” and not holding “ourselves” accountable for our actions and our futures. If you aren’t getting promoted on your job, then YOU need to address these issues with your boss. If YOU aren’t happy with your neighborhood, then YOU need to approach your elected officials. If your child is not learning in school, then YOU need to speak their teachers. Someone committing crimes in your neighborhood? YOU pick up the phone and call the cops. Don’t put all this pressure on Obama to save black and poor communities because he can’t do it all by himself and he sure as hell can’t change the world in 4 to 8 years. Only GOD can do that. Right now, Obama excites and inspires, Hillary can lead and make the unpopular decisions. The party needs BOTH of them. In any regard, we as Black Democrats must tell Obama and Clinton what we expect and demand from them. And we must them accountable to OUR agenda. Honestly, the Democratic party takes your primary votes into “consideration,” and THEY decide who will run. In the end if Obama gets the nomination, I will vote for him. If Hillary gets the nomination, then I will vote for her. As stated earlier, I will continue to be a part of the process and will hold both accountable to the needs of this country. You should consider doing the same, and encourage other people to get off their *****es and vote.

    Suzy

I am a multiracial Canadian and being half black i have to say I know i obviously cant vote, if I could I would vote for Obama he stands for this generation and everything needed to change things for the better i completely agree with bossip and as a dedicated fan of this site and a Canadian Obama supporter Yes We Can (not me but you all)! All of you Clinton ***** riders who keep posting crap about Hilary ya’ll need a Ho Sit Down its not about a black and white thing its also about what they can do for America as a President and Obama definitely deserves our support as a ppl give him a chance. If Bush was given a “chance” then im sure we can ride with Obama. Plantation-minded officials couldnt have been put better its like America went through the civil rights movement to move this far forward just to be pushed ten steps back by our own PPL! I dont know what ppl think living in Canada is like but we deal with alot of racism even in our schools we are actually still discussing whether or not we should have all Black schools and colleges in Ontario and all over Canada. Its the 21st century to see Obama win would would be the dream Martin Luther King lived for. Im not bashing the Country I live in, Canada is great but we still deal with issues Americans due on a day-to-day basis and it is sad to see black ppl get together to bring one of their own down. lmao i think im just jumpin from subject to subject so im out and just catchin up on my daily bossip crack.

I like Obama …but the other day I was wacthing the debate with him and hilary and something he said Really bothered and I could not get over it since ..which has cause me quite a bit of soul searching in good mind if to vote for him or not .

They were both asked by a black voter in regards to illegal immigrants comming in to black locale and taking over jobs that was once exclusively for black famalies such as contracting etc…and paid well and now no longer cause latinos are willing to get paid hardly nothing for those jobs and employers are hiring them instead …thereby blacks losing many jobs now .

Barack answered saying that this person was scapegoating and that latinos are not taking jobs from blacks …black had problems before.

Hillary answered no , thats not true that latinos are comming illegaly taking jobs from blacks she spoke to many blacks who shared that with her and she is concerned about that ..that is why she want to stop employer from taking advantage of super low wages and hiring illegals instead of American residents.

    *******

To me she sounds more supportive to blacks then Obama..I dont know if he just wanted to cater to the latino vote ..but I dont find that flattering in either case for black community …..because it is a real issue a lot of black towns are struggling with this and he just swept it aside and made the caller feel bad for even being concerned about this in her community…whereas Hilary validated as a problem she wants to resolve.

well needless to say left a bad taste for him since then…If anyone can help me see this in different light with him I welcome your input …

cause now I’m leaning …hate to say on issues hilary is winning….EVEN THOUGH I REALY LIKE O

    DANA'

    @ coop,

i know her resume, but that still does not make her experienced at the presidency. she has never held that seat, her resume doe not include president of the united states…. that’s my point…. how can she play the experience card when she has never been president of his country? i just dont see it……being a partner in the law firm or being a spouse does not equate to experienced at running a country. and laura bush may not have worked a day in her life like us working cl***** folks, but you missed the key phrase in what i posted “white house experience”……she has nathan, nada, zero, zilch…..which all equals NONE. many people do not know her resume as you outlined, they are going by the accomplishments and laurels of bill, which, to me, is not indicative of making an informed decisions by truly looking at the issues holistically. she and her husband has run a less than fair campaign. when tough questions arise, she always drags obama into the mix when trying to answer, or brining up obamas race. i watched the debates and will continue to watch them. and i will end with this…. my state is one in which an election can be made or broken, and only thing i can say…. i am glad she will not be awarded our delegates.. she played dirty with our state, after she won the popular vote, she inadvertently campaigned by coming here when the polls closed and gave her little speech. and in michigan, she refused to take her name off the ballot after she agreed to… this says to me, you are not a woman of integrity. why do you earn my vote if you cannot abide by the rules of your party.

    DANA'

    @ rachel

i didnt take obamas comment that way… i took it to say that our community had problems and that people are looking to blame latinos for those issues. he was just calling to the carpet that there are black men out here that are willing to send their woman to work, walk her to the bus stop in her houseshoes, kiss her good bye and they go bang the neighbor, never once lifting a finger to work and help the household. or that female that just wants to find sugar daddy and keep having babies so she does not have to go into the workplace, kids look dirty and like hell but the mama is clean as hell……basically the same issues bill cosby put on front street that many blacks are in denial of . i am a social worker and i see this type thing happening everyday all day, generations and generations…. in short, dont blame other races for what us blacks aint really doin….

    DANA'

Wow! This is extremely radical and I’m glad that you’re speaking your mind! Thanks for keeping it real and letting negroes know that we are still being bought and sold without realizing it! As Lauryn Hill said, “The system is a joke! Oh you’d be smart to save your soul. And escape this mind control! You’ve spent life in sacrafice. To a system for the dead!”

I feel Obama is change. Not just because he’s a black man, but because he speaks with conviction and truth. He is such a leader and I believe in him! Before I knew of Obama I wanted Hillary to be President, because there was no other candidate that I could relate to. The more I listen to her and watch her endorsement commercials, the more I realize that she cannot relate to my struggle. She will continue to play into the games of the system and not realize her part in it. The system was created on the grounds that black people are an inferior people and it has kept us down for centuries. It’s time to realize the truth and make some changes people!

Is it or is it not a fact that unemployment was at a 40 year low is it not also a fact that the largest four year drop in African American poverty in more than twenty five years during Clinton’s term? So you get your info from links. Well I can tell you from first hand experience that during the Clinton years that programs such as the last stop program were implemented programs like this helped low income people acquire job skills it even helped train men and women that had just been released from prison get skills that would help keep them from going back .These programs were highly funded during the Clinton years. During the Bush Jr. years these have come close to being wiped out. As far as international policy I know first hand of how much respect the USA had I remember being in Kuwait in the mid to late 90’s and people speaking of how much respect they had for Bill Clinton and the US. I remember how Bill Clinton has been loved in Africa unlike Bush who when he goes to these countries he never leaves the airport because how so many protest. So Lucy you should not compare foreign policies of Clinton to others because someone like me that has been able to travel and speak to people will know that you have no bases for your comparison.

    Coop

    @DANA’

I was pointing out that comparing her to Laura Bush a weak argument which it was. A far as experience new Presidents don’t normally have experience with being President. As far as dirty trick they both have their crosses to bare. Obama mentioned that Hillary worked for Wal-Mart and in return she mentioned that he worked for a slum lord and some people said she was racist for that which is nonsense it is nothing more then politics he brings up her dirt she does the same in return that just how the game is played. If you want to see racism wait and see what happens if Obama goes head to head with the GOP. As far as integrity that is missed understood Bush’s supporters love to use that term about him.

*sigh* i really hope i live to see the day when we as a people decide to get together and use this kind of energy for things that REALLY matter instead of fighting over 2 presidential candidates, both of which, are going – as is historically the case – to kick black issues and concerns to the curb should they be elected.

imagine what we could do if we really chose to get serious and unite our brain power, strategies and efforts.

    @ coop,

the clintons played the race card first….. and continued to play the card… i did see that debate and hiliary brought up his dealings first and he countered with walmart….. and as far as my arguement with “white house experience” you still failed to acknowledge my point….. either of the candidates have a presedential resume…. so in my opinion, her arguement of experience is null and void… she has no experience at running a country, no new president does, that is why the pool resouces with experts in areas and appoint them to their cabinet. thanks for the debate, it stimulates my mind…..

    @lgc65

i am in my thirties and i do not feel we are arguing or are angry…. this is good healthy debate… i believe the mature people who post here can say at the end of the day, we agree to disagree. no love lost, no ill will….

Maxine Waters is a joke. She has always been and will always be. Her primary concern is the fact that her district is no longer the majority of blacks that have kept her ***** in office, so she’s started kissing some other ethnic groups ***** so she can keep her face in the public. She is another one who is full of promises that doesn’t come through…

Check this out everyone. Truth about our boy Obama. http://www.obamatruth.org

    @DANA’

Every single thing that people have said was the Clinton’s using race was blown completely out of proportion. Personally I see almost no differences in the platform of Clinton and Obama. I don’t recall Clinton bring it up first I do recall him hammering away at her about Wal-Mart while she tried to bring up his past before she could finally get it in, but as I said it politics don’t take it personal.. I’m not supporting Hillary or Barack I’m going to just wait and I will support whom ever the party nominates. Part of me hopes Obama wins so that people can see real racism when the GOP gets going. Did you see what they did to Herald Ford Jr. of Tennessee?

    @Chris

    Stop the hate.

    Loved Ones

I am so tired of reading the negative comments about the Clinton Camp…Bossip is always downing blacks about CHOOSING to vote for Hillary. It seems that Bossip are the racists, because they are making degrading comments about blacks all the time. I believe that heading above Maya Angelou’s picture, “Hoe Sit Down”, was really wrong…even though Bossip had the disclaimer below the comments…it was still very disrespectful. Bossip is a mess and I hoping that someone files suit aginst them soon. We live in a democracy, not a dictatorship…so, quit trying to make people feel bad…it is their voice and they are allowed to vote for whom ever they feel fit to run this country. If we really going to return back to slavery, that would have happened during the Bush Era…

That is just sad all together – first off just like you I have traveled since the age of 5 mainly due to my parents who have worked for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and I have lived in Europe – Asia and Africa – and as a result I have witnessed first hand the reality of American policy during the Bush and Clinton era – again our points of view differ.

On getting my information from links – Coop I sent you the link since you I can’t imagine you sit there and would read the entire article – you do such a great job at copying and pasting rather than reading the information that you send.

An other thing seem to be under the impression that I am a Bush supporter which is not the case, so stop reminding me how Bush is bad … at least Bush does not pretend to give a damn about black people.

On the economic issues; lets be real Bill Clinton reaped the benefits of Reagan’s economic plan (he just happened to be at the right place at the right time). Sorry to say but the man performed no miracles.

On the topic of Africans loving Clinton – are you including the 4 million Rwandans that perished due to his inaction…or was it because he had better things to do in in the oval office.

Say all you want to say Coop but I find it extremely disturbing how the Clinton’s were quick to marginalize Obama as just a black candidate, these people will say and do anything to win and that is the bottom line.

turst me as a mature woman, i have learned to never take religious beliefs or the political beliefs personally…. i am just grateful for some adult conversation….. no i missed what happened…. so…..what happened.

    OBAMA 2008!!!

    YES HE CAN!!!

@ I am / You are Barack Obama

WEB Dubois was also an intergrationalist. As was Malcolm evolving into for which he was *****asinated (by a black man).

Malcom was not *****asinated for his pro-black views. Malcom was *****asinated for thinking outside the box and for being an evolved abd far ahead of his time intergrationalist. Oh, had he lived…

The spirit of many ahead of their time have blessed Obama.

I get where you are coming from. I see where you are coming from.

Thank you for bringing this wisdom to the table.

    OBAMA 2008!!!!

    Yes He Can!!!!

Wrote: Get a life Bossip! you can’t dictate to us who to vote vote. Barack Obama doesn’t even believe in healthcare for everyone. I am voting on the issues and not on race so kiss my black a$%#.

    Go Hillary!!!

You need to do your research on Univeral Healthcare. This concept does not mean free it means that Hillary Clinton will mandate that everyone is REQUIRED to pay for health insurance REGARDLESS of the cost. Simply put this helps the insurance companies not you becuase it REQUIRES you to get it even if it is automatically taken out of your paycheck. This would be the same mandate if they “Fixed” the economy by REQUIRING you to pay your credit card bills. Universal healthcare only works if the costs are FIRST CUT. But to require people to pay in its current state doesn’t help you. Do your research

You guys just sound ignorant. You are going to vote for someone just because they are black is something that should embaress you. INSTEAD OF BEING ON HERE TALKING ALL THIS MESS YOU SHOULD BE READING THEIR PLATFORMS AND WHAT THEY CAN ACTUALLY DO FOR THE COUNTRY. If you really look into it, Obama isn’t really doing sh*t for the black community, what just b/c he’s black he gets all this credit?

NY_HOUSE. I couldnt have said it better.

You know this is probably one of the most sad and pathetic outcomes of this tight democratic primary. Everyone said about Obama “It’s not about his race” but this article proves, that for some it certainly is! And not only that the people who publish and support this garbage (who presumably are african american) are following the same lynch mob mentality that kept black people and other minorities out of public office in the past!!! The point of the matter is, you can’t change the rules of the game in the game. Superdelegates are not required to follow the voters (they are not like the electorate) nor are they required to vote by race, gender or preference for a certain jelly bean. So get off it! You know it’s possible that these people may actually LIKE Hillary Clinton, because they actually KNOW HER, unlike the rest of us. We just pretend to know these people, they aren’t our friends for gods sakes, none of them, they are all self-promoting blow-hards. Obama, Clinton, McCain…and all the rest! You really should be looking at their records. Unfortunately Obama doesn’t have much of one.

    Etherplain

Just had another thought: Maybe to level the playing field, Clinton supporters should put up a website saying “Hillary may lose because of these *****es” and list all the women (black, white, whatever), who pledged for Obama!!!!!

    wynette mc

We are going to win with or without them. The difference is they will be replaced!
