Thanks for the advice, but I don’t need it. The majority of my friends are bohemians with very similiar conscious minds as I have. My boyfriend and I are about 90$ alike as well.

I never said HYPERSEXUAL music hasn’t been around from the beginning, however I did say that it has never been the CORE of the musical movement. In other words, the industry has taken the ‘sex sells’ reality to a new level – making everything pretty much sexual.

I listen to music dating back the 20′s, and I am well aware of the fact that sexuality has always been in music, which is only natural since sex is natural. However, before the recent decades or so, ALL types of music were treated equally.

Seriously, how many conscious rappers do you see in today’s time? Notice how that type of rap music has been pushed UNDERGROUND to make way for the mediocre and highly generic crap that populate airwaves today.

Same thing with reggae.

Same thing with R & B. Soul music is no longer popular, as it’s now in the ‘alternative’ category.

BTW: Prince and Madonna are originals and naturals as opposed to those girls who are FORCED by their record companies to promote themselves a certain way in order to sell. Their lack of originality, and struggle to create and perfect their own unique craft causes them to grab on to and imitate someone else’s style.

Sean Paul made it clear that he was a conscious reggae artist until he was forced to change his style in order to get a record deal. And that’s him and the majority of current ‘artists’ of today.

You are so young and ill-informed. Nahnah, “HYPERSEXUAL” music has been around for the past 60 years. I have some old blues cd’s with some explicit content that would make Prince blush…And speaking of Prince, he was the reason for the forming of the PRMC and the Parental Advisory stickers you see on cd’s today…And he’s been around for over 30 years. Prior to that, you had the Rolling Stones, who caused a little uproar with their Some Girls Album back in the 70′s…And lets’ not forget Bootsy Collins and Parliament and Funkadelic. Their music was very racy, suchas their “NO HEAD, NO BACKSTAGE PASS”. And i won’t mention country artist, suchas Johnny Rebel or David Allan Coe. Beyonce or Rhianna has yet to release anything that has parental advisory sticker on it.

Actually, you are correct. I too have friends who used their ass-etts to make it through life, but those two chicks had to get drunk everytime they got on that stage. In other words, they couldn’t do it with a straight mind. Not that I’m saying they all get drunk, but the ones I know do.

Music was the same as it was decades ago? How old are you, 16 years old? Do you notice a lot has changed, and in our days, a person must have a certain look in order to even make it in the business, and those types of people are not required to have any talent – just good stage persona?

BTW, I love house music, disco, and funk. And I use to go to clubs a lot when I was in college. So dance music isn’t the issue here, trashy music is.
