Camron

People have always questioned the ages of Jay-Z, Eminem, Cam’ron, etc… Well we have it all broken down for you below, thanks to Nappyafro.com. We think you will be pretty surprised to see who is on the list. It’s crazy when you realize the actual ages of some of these immature fools:

    Superbiotch

Yeah, they are all kinda old. How come Flavor Flav isn’t on the list? Isn’t he like 70 or something? He’s older than Jesus I thought…oh well, top ten, maybe bronze, we’ll see!!

    * i am royalty *

    LOL @ SUPERBIOTCH… I THINK IT’S CAUSE HE’S IRREVELANT NOW…

Slide Like A Fresh Pair of Gators

    DANG!!!

Some of these folks NEED to change the subject matter in their rhymes…

When you’re that old you CAN’T/SHOULDN’T be rapping about the same things that a teenager or someone in their early 20’s is… SMH

    Lacey

Who doesn’t know this. Most of them have been around since the early 90’s.

    ATLBlogger

Damn, Young Jeezy 31? I thought he would be around 26 r 27. Anyways, I question Rick Ross age.

    sushine20745

almost everyone in the biz lies about their age..especially females.

    goons

damn, 50 is only 33..could have sworn he was pushin 50 just like his name..luda only 31..damn he so young!!!

    PRPPLE, just call me TADOW

umm they are not old, age is nothing but a number…all of them is at a good age to be doing what they doing as long as they mature with they music…now 45 and up i cant call it.

Slide Like A Fresh Pair of Gators

    @Superbiotch

Flavor Flav TURNED 50 YEARS OLD this year!!! SMH

And he’s STILL running around yelling “Yeah, boy!!!” and wearing that stupid a$$ clock around his neck…

    kahmmillion

What was the point of this list?

    statim08

Hov got to be over 40.

    Kami All Day

LOL @ these old ***** *****s indulging in childish ways.

Oh, well black women….this is what out young boys have as role models; hence, the reason why you see in your OWN hoods, old ***** *****s STILL trying…SMH

    Whatta damn shame!

    Grow up, puhlease!

    6 Figgas

Some of these cats in their late 30’s still post up at the club like they’re college freshmen or somethin’…

    NOPHACE

This just goes to show you that true hiphop is on its way out the door. These dudes can’t keep coming wit hot ***** for that much longer. Everyone on this list has lost a step on the mic and some of them are just garbage anyway.

    NOPHACE

WTF is wit the ads?! At least they didnt put one of those ***** enlargement ads under my *****!! LMFAO

    Superbiotch

LOL damn, that is kinda sad. A grown man walking around with a clock on his neck and viking horns on his head at 50 years old. I don’t get it. My son’s grandparents are Flav’s age and I’ll be damn seeing them walk around looking as ridiculous as him. Maybe he has some type of geriatric issue or something.

    Negrodamus Believes

Man they can “afford” to be young. They don’t have to work everyday and they don’t need to get married for that extra 25K your loser spouse brings in. Their reality is just different.

    Angee

I’m not surprised by any of this, and no grown man over the age of 35, hell 30 should be rapping!!

    PeeWee

    @ Kami
You sound stupid our young men should have their D**N parents, grandparents, older siblings & relatives as role models…and these men as entertainers!

    B.I.N.F.L

WELL IF THEIR ALL HEALTHY THATS ALL THAT MATTERS TO ME.AND ITS NO SHOCK WE ALREADY KNEW HOW OLD THESE GUYS WERE ANYWAY IF NOT THATS WHAT GOOGLE FOR LOL.

I don’t get it… are you saying that they should all retire? come on, the Beatles are still in the clubs and touring… HipHop something that lives inside of you, it will never die… Its a way of life! I am 32 and fell in love with Hip hop as a teen I will never ever stop lovin the lifestyle. stop hating

    BROOKLYN

    OK ANNNNNNNNDDDDD

Who didnt know this and why is it a big deal? DUH

    ICE T HIS MID 50′S
    REV RUN EARLY 50′S
    FLAVOR FLAV EARLY 50′S
    SLICK RICK LATE 40′S
    KRS ONE EARLY 40′S
RAPPER’S ARE GETTING OLDER NOW HIP HOP IS GETTING OLDER

    Be Real

@Angee…Are you serious? People over 30 shouldn’t rap? GTFOH. If you got skills, then you got skills. I don’t care how old you are. And 30 is not old. But I do agree that, at some point, your subject topic in your music should change. You shouldn’t be rapping about the same things at 35 as you did at 19. And, let’s be honest, who in the rap game (on a lyrical and “real” hip-hop level) under 30 is making a whole lot of noise? Not too many, for real.

    Man I just dont care™

I’m sure we can add 3-5 yrs to the above listed D.O.B.s

    Mimi

I’ll excuse all the immature lyrics and antics and partying for rappers. That’s all part of the game in the music industry.

But these jurr*****ic rappers are old enough to know how to handle their money. No excuse for them ending up being broke when the checks stop coming in.

If you’re going to be a “has been”…..don’t be a broke ***** “has been.”

    Superbiotch

@PhatDjSwagger I like that list you made of the over 50s in rap. These are just some of the rappers that made people fall in love with hip hop. Some of these rappers out today just flat out suck and its horrible. They need to learn from their ‘elders’ so to speak: LL Cool J, Slick Rick, so on. Rap today is effin’ horrible. Hip-hop might actually be dead.

    Glok9n: The real glok !!! Lev 20:13

THEY ARE OLD, BUT WE GET WHAT THEY SAYING WHEN RAPPING ,..TODAY I DONT KNOW WHAT THE ***** THEM NIGGRz SAYING OR TALKING ABOUT ,..BUT NOW I DO ,….PROMOTING THE DEVIL IN THE DETAILS …NOT SELLING OUT!

    pm

I would rather have them anyday then soljah boy and bow wow .. maybe thats just me

    s

    young rappers suck right now…

these people practice an art, & the more you do most things, the better you are @ them -

now if these young cats would do more than grunt, we would all be in a different place…

plus, these guys showed their genius @ early ages…

what are they supposed to do?

    dumb out before 30?

    HaitianSurvivor

    @ Mimi
you sound like a hater… You’re entitled to your opinion but I don’t agree with much of it

    Frank

Missed about 1000 rappers the whole wu tang should be up there , these are off the top of my head bone thugs ,CNN , goodie mob , DR. DRE , Foxy brown , krs 1 , dogg pound , masee , ll cool j ,pharoh monche , black rob , the roots , mobb deep, slick rick , keith murray ,swizz beatz , beanie sigel , neptunes , i could go on and on there are like 5 good rappers under 30 its a lost art .

    Nakia

Hip Hop and rapping is a style of music just like any other genre and it’s stupid to say that it has an age limit. Should Aerosmith stop touring and making money? Madonna is over 50 and (while she SHOULD maybe put on some more clothes) she’s still making money. Miss Tina Turner can still shake her stuff. If we leave hip hop up to the young dummies coming out now hip hop WILL die because it can’t last as nonesense. There needs to be SOME art and lyricism to the music to keep it alive and that’s what these old heads and originators are for. Respect your elders punks!

BTW…leave the clubbing alone. Is there an age limit to fun? You can’t hang with the same young crowd but *****ody should be expected to only attend family reunions and polo matches over a certain age. If you still enjoy loud music and dancing, get your party on!

    Smoovee Sayz

Damn so LL is really over 40 huh???
Im just going to stay in denial with that situation

    Morning Morning err’body

    Octavia

Gat Damn! Jay is old! Bey is only 27/28 right?

And DMX is far to old for his foolishness.

    told you so

and most of the music those guys put out is miles better than anything put out by the young guys now.
what you dont believe me? hurricane and Halle Berry…what the ***** is ‘rachey’

LOL!….This is funny…a bunch of freakin Jodies! The only real comment for most of these dudes is “Grow Up”

    Kami All Day

    @PeeWee:

    *sighing*

Why do I attract the dumb ones???

You must be young because your comprehension skills suck. Did I say that this is okay for our young boys to have role models like this? No.

OF COURSE!…our kids should have their parents, siblings, and grandparents as role models. Why would you think I meant otherwise?

Maybe if we thought about creating foundations first before having kids then maybe we wouldnt have our kids looking to these “entertainers” as some sort of role models. Hell, the grandparents nowadays are 25-35….not normal.

Is is just me, or are my simple words just that powerful? I’m starting to think the latter……

Your post to me was a complete waste of time.

    Now you look stupid.

    pm

black fans are so disloyal now the rolling stones or and aerosmith can get on stage in wheelchairs and still pack a stadium, so can country artists…..and we wonder why true black music is a fading away.

    Luv-Lee

    @ PM
    Agreed!!!!
Why u all calling them old? Most of them (not all of them) came out in the 90’s during the golden era of hip-hop!!! Im not hating on NONE OF THEM. This list represents what made hip-hop millionaires in the first place. Do u hear the ***** that kids are listening to today??? Helooooo!!! Lil’ Wayne is thier hero??? Not a good look.

    Lady J

They need to p***** the baton to the younger generation….share the wealth people!!

Need a break from the monotony (Lean)

CAM’RON IS SEEEXXXXYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE HIM!!!!!…but I have to agree w/ bossip on this 1…SOME of these fools on the list REALLY NEED TO GROW UP!!!!. Their in their “second childhood” as my man Nas would say!

    elle

who is to say that 30+ is old? I bet most of you wont be saying that the day y’all become that age. Yea they need to not be doing the things that they do at their age but 30 is not old at all that is when you are at your peak

    JUJU

30 IS NOT OLD, OBVIOUSLY MOST PEOPLE COMMENTING HERE ARE PERHAPS IN THEIR EARLY TWENTIES, THEREFORE THEY FEEL AS IF 30 IS OLD. MOST RAPPERS HAVE TO STRUGGLE FOR YEARS B4 MAKING IT TO THE TOP, WHICH BY THE TIME THEIR RECOGNIZED, THE YEARS HAVE ADDED UP, BUT I FEEL SKILLS IS SKILLS AND AS LONG AS U DON’T LOOK LIKE A OLD HAG AND SOUND GREAT, THAT’S ALL THAT MATTERS! AGE DOESN’T MATTER TO ME.

    ***** Said

There’s nothing with rapping at that age as long as your content changes. 35 and over your content needs to change. Except if you’re Ghostface-aka- the greatest rapper of all time.

    Luv-Lee

Word PM @ ur 2nd comment!!! This is so true!!! This just backs up the theory that Black people do not look out for eachother like other cultures do. White people always stick together, Hispanice people always got eachothers back, Indian people always hold eachother down, Asian people always help eachother out, Black people only look out for themselves. Sorry if this offends anyone but this is how I see it. KISS is still selling out shows!!! How many seats to u think any 80’s hip-hop group would sell if they were the headliner?? Does the Lil’ Wane generation even know ANY hip-hop groups from the 80’s? Are they even familiar with Rakim???

Illuminate Truth "Mind Control - Corruption of Your Thoughts - Destruction of Your Soul

Why is hip-hop the only genre of music that will clown on the older artists (i.e. rappers with staying power) while other forms of music (R&B, rock) put theirs on a pedestal?

    Yeah they old(er)……appreciate that.

On another note….some names on that list DO need to grow the hell up.

    DICooper

    Rap as a lost art.

That’s my next article. Thanks Frank.

    TeeTee K

They 4got about my boy, Jim Jones….I know he’s over 30…

I flat out REFUSE to believe Jay-Z isn’t already 40…hell he probably about to be 45!!!

Honestly, I don’t mind people over 30 rapping…but when they start to sound like an oldhead tryna to be down with Soulja Boy THATS when it becomes a problem.

Like I can’t imagine never hearing Jay-Z, Kanye, Nas, Common, or Andre 3000 stop rappin just b.cuz they aren’t a youngin…naaaaw SMDH we need them.

It’s not the fact that they are over 30 that should be discussed. It’s the fact that at 30, the subject matter for much of their music has not changed, and neither has their outlook and worldview.

    *side bar*
Rick Ross is only 33? That must have been 33 rough years!
And J-Zay is older than that. I don’t care what the list says!
DMX… he needs Jesus to take his wheel. If at 38 he can’t figure that out yet, he need a good old fashion church intervention.

    flawda

All the good rappers are over thirty and all the *****ty rappers(Lil Wayne,Soulja Boy,Hurricane Chris, etc) are garbage.

    PeeWee

    @ Kami
I’m only going to respond to you once so here it goes… 1) Instead of you saying “Oh well..black women this is what out young boys have as role models” you should have said “women be better role models or find men who are going to be great role models for your young men” so they won’t have to look to ENTERTAINERS…you know? Get on everyone thats responsible not just some. 2.)You also sounded stupid by saying they were indulging in childish ways…How?? Some of those men up there have a CAREER in which they are making millions upon millions of dollars by peforming an art!…while you are reading about their lives desiring for gossip! So you do sound stupid…no let me change that you sound ignorant, close minded and jaundiced!

    BostonGeorge

Listen, if these dudes go….so does the music. Music in general would be trash if no one under 30 was in it. Missy Elliot ring a bell! How many of yall wouldn’t miss Timberland??? Wanna say bye bye to Usher?? Can you imagine a world without Dre at least making beats! I love the kid’s tenacity, but do you think Soulja Boy is going to be around in 2 years ***** the next 10??? Bow Wow is a distant memory and he hasn’t grown hair on his ***** yet…lol. In fact name me 10 rappers under 30 that’s nice. Hard ain’t it? alright give me 5
    **birds chirping**
If you place a age limit on any genere of music….the music will die. Most artist’s don’t reach their prime until their late 20’s early to mid 30’s. Now I can agree at your early to mid 40’s you should be thinking exit strategy and the “old school” circuit, but you should never just throw the towel in!! Music is timeless!! ***** even American Idol will let you audition until your 28.

    Speaking the truth…™

Nas had it right when Hip Hip is Dead…this list just shows that they will be the elders of the next generation of rappers. However, I blame the music industry for trying put forth these bubble gum rappers talking about nothing – nor do they have anything to talk about. Its sad.

    HaitianSurvivor

It doesn’t matter your age, country, ethnicity… Hip hop is something thats live inside you, you could be 80 and still be Hip hop LOL but my point is age doesn’t matter

    And.....(with 5 dots)

Now let’s see how many of these young rappers will be remembered after their “one-hit ringtone wonders” disappears? My bet… NONE!

    missunderstood

“All these old rappers trying to advance, tts all over now take it like a man…. *****s lookin like Larry Holmes, flabby and sick….” lol….

    @ Re
    I concur

    Esco

This is the problem with so called hip hop fans. How come The Rolling Stones, Paul McArtney, Ozzie Ozbourne, etc can still tour and put out music in their 50s, 60s, and 70s and that be acceptable but when a MC is in his 30s he should retire????? Most of the brothers on that list are legends and the best at what they do. They have families and have ventured off into other businesses and that’s something to be proud of. I’m 26 and all I wanna do is hear good music so if they’re making that happen I couldn’t care less how old they are. And all the lame ***** younger rappers coming up asking for handouts and begging for the legends like Nas and Jay to step down need to do better. Nas came in the game when he was 17!!!! and he earned his spot in the history books, he was better than his competition and his elders. The problem with most newer rappers is that they simply aren’t better than the vets. Stop *****ing and step your pen games up and earn your spot like Nas, Jay, and 3000!!!

    Whatever

    Where’s Jim Jones? Anyway…

…for all you posters with that “old ***** rappers” rant…Guys like Cube, Mos Def, Q-Tip, Em & Jay are seasoned vets–TRUE MC’s…true *artists*!

For the most part, rappers in their teens and 20’s are just a bunch of lazy slackers who are only interested in making money. They couldn’t care less about hip hop culture. They aren’t true artists/MC’s and that’s why their music sucks.

    BlackFriday

Jay is 39. Period. He was 26 when he came in the game in 96. That is a fact. In 02, he was rapping about being 32(“Young cause I’m 32,Spit like I’m 22,Dress like I’m 18,Do what I wanna do”). In 06, he was rapping about being 36.ie(“My age is a kilo”) Get off his ***** already.

Once again you’re saying something so true!!!

When these peoples’ favorite artist come into town to do a show do they go? = NOPE

When their favorite artist from back in the day puts out a new record will they cop it? = NOPE, but will they’ll spend $12 for a drink at their bar though… SMH

Check this out… 2 years ago when Kanye dropped his “Graduation” Album he had a Album Release Concert to raise money for his Foundation that partners with the “Strong American Schools” Organization which is focused on helping Black and Latino students, etc…

This concert was in Chicago and since I happened to be in town for business/work I decided to go…

Do you know the audience was 95% white… I LIE TO YOU NOT!!! I was SHOCKED!!! ’cause this is Kanye’s Hometown and everything, all the proceeds were going to charity… And his OWN people weren’t there to show a ni@@a love and support… SMH, I’ll NEVER forget that… *The only thing was that the tickets were expensive (*over $80) but still the money was going to charity and this is a hometown artist and he got hits, not just 1 or 2 he had a few….

In other words they are TOO DAMN OLD TO ACT AS IGNORANT AS THEY DO! At thirty something men are suppose to be walking around looking casual in some slacks or something. They’re not suppose to be walking around with a “grill,” tats all over their bodies, and gold hanging from their necks. They need to add Piles 32 year old ***** to the list. You would swear every single one of these rappers was a teenager or in their early 20’s because that’s the way they act. Realistically speaking black men can’t blame society for looking at them as if they’re children that need discipline…look at the way your idols carry themselves at 30 something– pushing 40! Foolishness.

    ohsolovely

“I turn my swwwwwwagggggggoooooooooonnnnn. Take a look in a mirror and say what’s up.” So if you have swag you can’t turn it off. And I’d rather listen to 40 year old rappers than to hear another single from Soulja Boy.

“I turn my swwwwwwagggggggoooooooooonnnnn. Take a look in a mirror and say what’s up.” So if you have swag you can’t turn it off. And I’d rather listen to 40 year old rappers than to hear another single from Soulja Boy.

Any dude in the mirror saying wh*****up trying to turn they swag on or off got some serious issues with his masculinity, meaning he lacks it

    Tony Redds

Aint nothing wrong with being an “older” rapper as long as their content evolves….

    Ian P

Where is Nelly on that list?

    Love None

You know its funny–they never did this with Motown stars or any R&B Legends back in the day but now age is supposed to be a big issue. Is it because we are talking about Hip-Hop?

There is nothing wrong with the new generation getting their “shine” on but people have to realize that because of messed up record label heads and the inability to market correctly in order to gain the sales that the label execs are looking for, many of your favorite rappers don’t even get a real shot until they are 29 or over. So please stop trying to take away from or diminish the art form and the talent of these rappers and MC’s by posting how old somebody is on the mic!!!!!!!!

30 something is not old. Its actually fun if you played your 20s right. You youngins will find out. I used to think if you were 30 your life was over. Its just getting started actually.

Here we go with this bull*****!!!! What’s your point????? Is there a age limit on HipHop/RAP??????? It is music, so I guess Pattie Labelle shouldn’t sing anymore, or Mariah Carey, or Mary J. People in their 20’s are still trying to figure out how to be ‘grown’. In your 30’s you just start to get the hang of it. I wouldnt go back to my 20s for ish.

    DDub

Of course they’re in they’re 30’s I listened to them in my teens and I’m in my late 20’s.
I hate to hear people complain about hip hop aging. It should be celebrated. You have the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Paul McCartney, etc. all out there still being celebrated and touring and making money off music that are older than some of the rappers on the list.

We should be happy our music is still being made and though it isn’t as successful as it was 10 years ago it still is a powerhouse and influentual to society. Think about all the white kids that grew up on–and related to our music. They went and voted for a black man for president.

    Keep doin what ya doin

y when it comes to rappers age is a big deal? u must remember that in music you are a artist first and u cant put a age on that….long live hiphop & stop the hate.

    Evonne

I’m sorry FloRida has to be lying about his age he looks like he is pushing 40 just like Jay-Z and the others. His time line doesn’t even add up from his bio – he spent time in LA, in College, with Poe Boy, etc. He needs to fess up…

    I'm Black...blackity black black

as long as you can rap a ryhme age as well as money dont mean a damn thing plus some of dem ppl on dat least(exept Ye my husby] are dead beets

    Kool Breeze

Damn…I thought Flo-rida would surely place high on that list, he looks about 38.

    cocoa49

officer ricky looks older then all of them

    Nic

And yet people give Hov a hard time over his age. *****ing old ***** rappers need to grow and marry their “baby mamas” immature boys.

    hey girl

This is more than likeley accurate, but for some reason I always thought that Jay Z was older, prehaps 41…. I could have sworn he was born in 1967.

    brown sugar

    i thought jay-z was already 40

    undressingHER

I didn’t know Ice Cube and I had the same bday

    Toxicity

Yeah, take all those ages and add about 2 to 3 more to it for the correct AGE! Some of these rappers are in the 40’s. If they have a record you can easily look that up…its public access.

All I have to say is once I hit my late twenties, I will know for a fact that these RAPPERS aren’t in their thirties and have to be in their late 40’s.

    QUIT WITH THE BULL*****

    Toxicity

This is a matter of simple basic math. Jay-Z is in in 40’s as well as P.Diddy. You can’t argue with numbers and wrinkles.

    Divine Stylez

I could care less how old these cats are. It would be nice to see some of these 30 and over dudes carrying themselves with a bit of cl***** tho. Your twenties are all about getting away from your parents and doing your own thing. Your thirties are all about taking responsibility for all the dumb ***** you did in your twenties and your forties are all about securing your familiy’s future as well as your retirement. Running around looking and acting a fool in your thirties is not acceptable,EVER!!!!

JB -Working it out for her Stripper and her PT

Jay-Z is old enough to be my daddy..smh

he is old enough to be his wifes daddy.

    MissChoklate

WELL IT MAKES SENSE, HIP HOP IS WHAT MY AGE GROUP GREW UP WITH- I REMEMBER WHEN SUGER HILL CAME OUT I WAS IN ELEMENTARY AND WANTED TO KNOW WHAT THIS KIND OF MUSIC WAS AND ITS THE BEST MUSIC OF OUR TIME, AND I HAPPEN TO THINK THE BEST RAPPERS ARE ON THAT LIST –THIS MUSIC IS OF MY GENERATION ITS WHAT I GREW UP WITH- ITS WHAT YOU YOUNGINS GREW UP WITH–NEXT DECADE ALL THESE RAPPERS WILL BE OVER 40–HOPEFULLY HIP HOP WILL EVOLUTIONIZE TO BE BETTER AND THE YOUNGER ONES HOPEFULLY CAN CHANGE UP THE GAME AND STYLE BUT THESE ONES ON THE LIST MADE IT WHAT IT IS TODAY.

    Leeha

here’s my thought on this …these rappers are rapping about the same stuff that they were rapping about in their 20s’. maybe they should be the pioneers they claim to be and mature their music, just like they matured. also their target audience, their hardcore fans are older. their fans now have kids and jobs and hopefully bills. as a fan, i can’t listen to some booty shaking music around my kids and being that my kids are always with me, then why would i waste my money and buy some music that i can’t even enjoy. i’m baby loves hip-hop all the way.–please tell me somebody with kids knows about that bomb ***** kid rap group The Dino 5.

aerosmith and sting is still around because they make clean music(no bad language) and they talk about the universal truths, not some let your booty clap mess. when u get older u don’t want to hear the same old juvenile crap. i’m p***** the age were my image was paramount.

Huh? (new on here but not 2 b confused with the other 1)

I can’t believe Scarface is only 38. He’s been rapping since the late 80’s and there is no way he was only 19 or 20 when the song “My Mind is Playing Tricks on Me”. If so he looked old back then. I think he’s at least 45. He’s still a great rapper though just old(er).

    the truth

^^^old rockers are still talking the same *****, if they even have any new material, most don’t.

simmons still flicks his nasty tongue, crue are still *****s, richards is still strung out,

and the ‘gr***** is always greener’ in black people land.

    DR.FUNK

Lying about your age is JUSTIFIED.More than skin color…more than gender…more than political/religious leanings…more than level of education…people p***** judgment on you based on AGE.

    quan da bomb

when u check rock n roll aero smith, the stones, billy joell they still doin it big,but if u over 30 u should stop rappin sounds stupid im gettin older and i just seen slick rick perform last week and i would want to here him a gain in another 5 years cuz that what we grew up with,my moma still tryin to go see tina turner and she like 60 so stop hate in

    DR.FUNK

    @Leeha
    @quan da bomb:

So true.I just don’t see rappers having “evergreen careers” where they can go on tour & rake even into their 60’s.Sugar Hill Gang?…Big Daddy Kane?…Tone Loc? I just saw a clip of 2Live Crew at some ***** convention doing “Me So Horny”.Laughable.*****ody knew the song.Even the “booty girls” they had on stage seemed lost trynna’ figure out how to “work it” to that beat.I suppose that would be poetic justice for a music form that has delivered more GARBAGE than GOODNESS.

    enlight

not much of a surprise considering how LONG some of these cats have been out….only real surprises to me is that woulda thought Bun B was older and Redman was younger!!

    BullCityBaby

How is Hova older than Scarface? WOOOOOOOWWWW. Only old heads remember the Ghetto Boys.

    FoxY

It’s called working, unless you are filthy rich you have to keep working paying the bills, taking care of the fam!!!! I can’t believe how ignorant a lot of you people are.. When was there an age limit on making music??????? It’s the youngins that spit garbage, if anything they need to ban a lot of this young bull***** that people like to call hiphop/rap…

    Yvonne

LOL and most of them still have the mentality of a 20 year old.

    Huh?

    wishful thinking I guess…

Rap music is a prime example of “lowered expectations” and I compare it to the white man’s practice of creating xtreme sports b/c they are dominated by blacks in the major sports such as baseball, basketball or football.

In the 80’s rap began to grow only because it was a potential money making pursuit for people who were not blessed with the ability to sing. Years later we have a very profitable industry built around so called artists who cannot sing, write or play music. Instead they can now become rich by rhyming words to beats provided by others. I contend this artform is extremely lacking in talent except for the beat writers and producers.

The end result is a world were the beauty of song has suffered b/c the younger audience has convinced themselves that a guy standing in front of a mic reciting rhymes and cussin at everything that moves is their idea of the ultimate entertainment. Add the exploitation of the female body to the formula and you now have summed up rap music in its entirety.

God, please bless us with an artist who possesses the singing voice and talent of a Maxwell, Aretha, Luther, Donnie, JB, Whitney, Gladys, Cooke, Chaka, Womack or Michael (to name a few).

    wishful thinking I guess…

people are crazy thinking 30 or older is old.. if tupac had lived he would be 37 going on 38 June 16 09 would he be too old to release music? hell no he was ahead of his time already that’s why its 2009 and he still has music being released!!! its takes years before you can say your one of the greats.. Diddy is definitely 41 because hes 4 yrs older than Kim porter who’s 37 so is Jay-z he was older than BIG and if BIG had lived he wouldve been 37.. and J-lo is in her 40’s as well, even though shes no rapper im just saying.. she went to Preston high School in the 80’s there’s no way in hell shes still in her 30’s that’s why she had to use in-vitro to get preggers.. a lot of people who you think are in there 20’s aren’t!!!! piles is 36 yrs old and Akon is 36 or 37 with 4 wives with several children between his wives hes not 25, Nelly is 35 or 36 ..remember if AAliyah had lived she would be 30 yrs old. usher is 30 going on 31. and left-eye wouldve been 38 and s*****y Monica is already 28 or 29 in 2 yrs will be 30 and brandy is 30 and little Ashley from the Fresh Prince of Bel air -real name Tatiana Ali is 30 so are the Mowry twins of sister sister fame will be 31 in july and Kobe is going on 31 in August!!! so you know darn well half of these rappers are already in there 40’s if these singers+actresses and actors i named are 30 or almost 30.. they were kids when these rappers were out.. LL cool j is 41 and Will Smith is 40 or 41 too hes 4 yrs older than Jada who is 37 the same age as Tupac they were best friends since age 12..all the people i listed are still very much young.. old is 75 or 80 anything under these ages are young.. god forbid you die at these ages listed you didnt live a full life .. living a full life is when you have Grand-kids and great grands and GREAT Great Great Grand kids if God spares your life.. a lot of people didn’t get to see 30 more or less 40 or beyond.. if rappers want to make music well into there 40’s so be it. if its good quality music great. you are as young as you feel.. 30 and beyond is not old by a long shot your life is just getting started!!!!!

    Leeha

    @at the truth…

lets talk about some old head rock icons still rocking it:

Bruce Springsteen-will not deny, i’m a fan, got his Bob seegar/folk music album. bruce re-recorded We shall overcome and he kinda rocked it.

    sting-message in a bottle

pink floyd-they have a light show that goes with their concert. white families go to their concerts in m***** every summer.

    Annie Lennox
    Barbara Streisstrand
Madonna-yeah she gets nasty, but she has alot of songs that are kid friendly, my favorites Ray of Light and Celebrate

–if these folks can make good and popular music in their late age. our rappers can, but they have to really step up there game. like LL Cool J needs to get his old butt out of the clubs and start rapping about pay his taxes or his wife.

Hip Hop music/rap is still relatively young compared to other types of music.

It’s still growing, so the artists are growing with it. Rap didn’t “start” in it’s current form until the late 70s or early 80s, so of course it never had older people promoting it until now.

Back before the 90s many artists were commonly in their 30s and 40s and still making hits. It really wasn’t until recent times with Rap and it’s younger artists that 30 would be looked at as old, but rap as a whole is getting older because the quality artists are.

As for the younger artists…when it comes to a party, you don’t always want serious thought provoking music. You want fun. Something like Soulja Boy or Stanky Leg is needed for that. But you do want to have some thought going on otherwise, which SOME of the people on this list can deliver. If it wasn’t for age they may not be able to do it.

    But I’m 25, 5 more years!

    John D. Hater

RAP WOULD BE A BETTER GENRE OF MUSIC IF MATURE RAPPERS WOULD EXPAND THEIR THOUGHTS!!!

LOOK AT ROCK MUSIC, NO REASON WHY RAP CAN’T BE THE SAME.

RAPPERS OF TODAY SOUND ALIKE AND MAKE ONE HIT AND THEN DONE.

NO MORE CL*****IC HITS BEING CREATED!!!

WAT ABOUT FAB? AINT MY DOG LIKE 30?

    Billy Blog Thorton

It’s funny to read comments and hear young folk in their late teens/early 20’s talk about people in their mid to late 30’s like they Dinosaurs or something. lmao. Just remember youngins…get your money right first and don’t criticize too much…cuz growing old looks a lot worst if you ain’t got/getting your own ***** together from an educational and/or financial standpoint. Take it from someone who’s not famous, but has done pretty well for himself at 36. Just saying…lol

The only ones on this list I see as ’still acting stupid’ is Einem, 50, Cam’ron and Fat Joe. Now I’m 32 so I grew up during the time where even these cats weren’t even out yet. I believe your music should reflect your maturity, some of us mature later than others. But for the most part, most of this list is compelled of people who’ve always acted their age, it’s only a few on here that are childish and idiotic (50 cent, Eminem, fat joe) to name a few, 50 actually embarr*****es me as a black person he’s so stupid. Yes I will take these rappers anyday over the newer set, the youngins can have solja boy, and the people who made stanky leg, and most of the rest of them. Todays rap is just that, rap, not hip hop. The only ones under thirty that come close is T.I and….well I can’t think of another, ad I definitely would say lil wayne although he could make it, his ignorance holds him back. I still have albums by most of this list minus 50 cent, and I cna’t stand Rick Ross ignorant @ss, he’s another embarr*****ment,

    Pretty_MissM

When you’re really young (under 25), you think everybody is old. You forget that even you seem old to somebody! The reason rappers don’t have longevity, and new things to rap about, is because rap is a simplistic, repititious form of poetry writing. And, most if not all of these “entertainers” are in a state of arrested development. As people, they have stopped eveolving. Also, none of the people on that list are actually musicians – like the all White people on the “longevity” lists. I’m horrified that we’re not even mentioning Black musicians with decades in the music industry for some reason. Ahhh what the hell a short list: Herbie Han*****, Roberta Flack, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Bootsy Collins, Quincy Jones, Lenny Kravitz, the 2 used to be Blacks – Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam, Prince, Rapheal Saadiq, Rapheals’s brother and Rapheal’s cousin (bka Tony, Toni, Tonè), Bowlegged Lou of Full Force(and the other artists who can no longer win grammys, but can write hits for White boy groups like Back Street Boys and N’Sync at the same time) etc…etc. All of these Musicians can do the things that all musicians with real longevity (the Stones, Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt while we’re at it etc…etc…)have mastered doing one, two, or all of: reading music; writing actual songs that make sense and aren’t just degrading to Blacks and/or Women (I’m sorry it’s hardly songwriting or requiring of talent to put together words about raping female celebs and urinating on the only Black one mentioned – Eminem fans who refuse to believe that he is an overrated bigot. But, I digress); playing a musical instrument (s); carrylng a friggin’ tune or just plain being able to sing (sans Roger Troutman’s audio vocoder)! Somehow some rap “artists’ have managed to create lucrative careers leeching off of other people’s talents for all of the above, and encouraging people of every race to refer to us and one another, as some form of the ALWAYS disrespectful to prideful Blacks n*word. Puff Daddy’s real skill was being able to work with rock icons in need of a pay day, and who remembered what a smash “Walk This Way” was for Run DMC and Aerosmith. The mostly Black faces and voices of the actually White run rap/Hip Hop industry machine has conned millions upon millions of people into thinking that it takes any measure of creativity to change the words to songs and use beats that have all ready been written, and are proven to sell, or come out of a computer! I mean just walking back and forth going “uh – uh” “yea” “yea” “uh”…how can people listen to a whole concert of that? As far as role models go, I see Black men, and Black Women, everyday all day who can be role models. They are just overlooked in favor of people who could care less about the people who admire them the most. Our people have it twisted if they really think this handful of people are somehow our kids’ only choices for role models.

BTW Bow Wow, whether you like him or not, has been rapping since he was like 10 or 12-years-old. He’s in his 20’s now. How are people consistently comparing him to people who have been around a year or two career wise? We’re not talking abut maturity, because he obviously lacks that like most folks in their early 20’s, but the length of time he has been performing and making movies. Maybe that’s why the man is so bitter! Ya’ll hate on him like you actually know him!

God, you people are so *****in simple! What makes you think that just because Jayz is “married” he’s doing the right thing? They are all married and have wives and babymothers, longtime relationships ect. They all have that. I cube been with his wife since the early 90’s. Method Man, Fat Joe, Big Boi. They all have wives. Cam’ron was with his babymother for 15 years before they broke up. I heard he was with his girl since he was twelve! You have to stop looking at images, and look at peoples real lives.
You call these people immature Bossip but they are multimillionaires with Careers and familys. When the person posting these hateful comments on this site probably makes less then 30,000 a year. Smh
    Stop being simple people..

    IndustryInsiderTRUTH

    @ MOcarsMOclothesMOjewelsMOhoes!!

That Cam’ron album is fire. Cam’ron was rappin better than ever. Probably just over your head.

Why do people keep talking about who’s immature and who needs to retire? Beyonce been in the game constantly since 98 and whenever someone brings up the fact she needs to sit her ***** down her stanz go nuts! People should make music whenever they want as long as they have the material. People who stay out constantly though and never stop, never take a break and get inspired need to sit down. I get so sick of the old people in the game who wont take a break who have to keep they name ringing bells.

I like that Cam’ron has about 2 years between each album. He been around since 98, but he knows how to fall back and he doesnt hog the spotlight. He knows hes an old head and he falls back and lets the young people eat and I can respect that. Unlike these other industry old heads who have all the opportunity in the world to open doors for young rappers and new people to eat but never do.

Like yo boy Jayz. Whens the last time he put a rapper on from new york, really promoted him and let him shine without keeping him beaneath him or attempting to? Dont worry…Ill wait. He keeps pumpin out talentless people who arent in competition with him (Rihanna, Teairra Marie ect) But wont co sign or help in rappers from NY. Instead he became apart of the machiene that manipulates the business and takes advantage of young men.Hmmmm *****z a do anything for money! And his you respect?

I *****z with Big Boi too and Outkast, cause they the same, they fall back even though they been around awhile and let other people shine and put other people on from they city.Eminem, StyleP Dblock. Bun B. I respect them cause they dont never try to take nothing from the young generation.

Why cant you guys respect that?

    Mika Is A Loser!

“Mika” Cam’ron, 50cent, and Fat Joe act stupid? Are you serious? Kanye West doesnt act like a child and throw tantrums? 50cent is a business man, makin more money than anyone on that list! How is he actin stupid? Cause he dont kiss peoples ***** like your idol and suck ***** for fame?

People like Mika shouldnt even be allowed to touch a keyboard and put stupid vibes out there. What is Fat Joe doing wrong?
Cam’ron just dropped an album, with no drama, no beef, no mainstream exposure and still topped the charts. What the hell are you talkin about?
Busta Rhymes doesnt act silly? Ludacris doesnt act silly? Nas and his fake ***** image didnt just get caught running around on his wife and being abusive and she had to leave him in the heat of her pregnancy? You cross me as one of those silly chicks that feed into images and believe that just cause some “pretends” to know about “politics” and has “Gods Son” on their stomach that means their intelligent or a good person? I long for the day when we arent so easily influenced by frauds.

    Keisha2doll

It’s really bad when dudes start putting back their ages!! 99% of those birth years are way off and 99% of those rappers know that they look well over forty.

    balaramesh

duh…. the only good rappers are over 30. what, i’d take a 35+ jay, nas, 3000, ect anyday over any rapper under 30. okay, there are maybe 3 or 4 good rappers under 30

    balaramesh

“They need to p***** the baton to the younger generation….share the wealth people!!”

right, tpain, lil wayne, boosie, hurricane chris, soulja boy, ect ect.

    lorie

    Who cares! If you’re tight you’re tight…..

    Ready Set Go

That just goes to show you the extent of the delayed maturity syndrome afflicting some males. Damn.

    Neo-Geo

Rap is an art form like any other genre of music. *****ody in the rock community is telling Bruce Springstein not to make more music. Now I agree that when your 35, you subject matter should be more mature. I grew up on hip-hop (31 years old), and now there’s a new sub-genre of rap called Hip-Hop Adult Contemporary (Common, Jay-Z, Nas, etc.) As fans we tend to see them as celebrity types but and for most of them, this remains a job , a source of income. Imagine someone telling your 40-year mom she can’t work anymore cause she “too old”. Where would she provide for her family. Now the actions of some of these older rappers is a different story. But you can deny someone a check.

    STL Finest

71- 38 70- 39 69-40 WHO IN THE HELL COULD NOT COUNT SMH BUT YET TELLING ON EVERYBODY

    ToppCatt

You people are so narrow minded, who said you have to be a certain age to make good music or even rap. Do you know that when rap started the average rappers age was in their 30’s? Who made up that rule that you have to be young to rap anyway. And as you get older the music quality gets better and the lyrics. But yet you ride and dance and even bounce to these old rappers songs. So you need to grow up and understand the fact that music is universal and there is no age limit to who can make a hot jam. Grow up!

    ganstamike

Soulja Boy sucks ***** and he’s the youngest. the older the better. btw flo rida’s turing 30 next month.

    hell no

50 Cent was born in 1976, according to Billboard’s website.
