Man,its a lowdown shame that u yungins dont have no respect r grattitude 4 the oldies who paved the way 4 the so called artist of 2day,do u kno how many of theez guys & gals culd b still sellin drugs r climbin threw yo windows if it wasnt 4 theyr talent & dedication 2 hiphop,they r here cause the rap game needs 2 b balanced from most of the crap that the u yungins r stuck on,ide rather rap till im over 40 rather than work & rot till get 65 to retire,wuts wrong wit yall,show sum respect 4 wut the oldies did & have done,its not all about age r just you,witout them,ther wuld b no 2day or 2morrow 4 nobody 2 shine n hiphop 2day,think about it,deuces.

To those making comments about “growing up”, isn’t it time to take your own advice?

How many old comedians are there on TV? A ton. They act a fool even at 50.

It’s an act a JOB, a high paying job.

Most of these guys can comfortably retire at the end of their 30′s if not a little earlier.

Most of us will be working until 65-70 and die on social security.

If you take the ENTERTAINMENT business seriously YOU need to grow up.

50 made 150 million in one year, should he grow up and get a 9-5? Jesus…

Your families won’t see 150 million in 4 + generations.

I see your point but I’m gonna have to disagree with you on rap being a simplistic, repetitious form of poetry writing, and that the rappers over 30 have not evolved. As far as rap being simplistic, for the cats in question (the over 30 bunch) for the most part, nothing is further from the truth. These guys are lyrical geniuses, Talib Kweli is a beast, Eminem is a beast, Common is a Beast, MOS DEF is a Beast, KRS ONE is still a beast! Where you at? How can you say that those rhymes are simple. I can’t say the same for the new cats out today, those are simple rhymes! As for rappers over 30 not evolving, evolving to what? What do you want them to evolve to? Most of them rap about their lives growin up and even though their financial situations have changed the conditions that produced them still haven’t changed and a lot of them rap about change, it’s just that no one’s listenin. To keep it constructive though, you touched on a point that hasn’t been touched when you talked about musician’s from Earth Wind and Fire to Prince not getting dey respect do, but HipHop shouldn’t be compared to those forms of music other than the artists being of African descent.
