A Picture That is Worth a Thousand Words and Dreams

Obama lets little man feel his crop

This young man was granted a visit to the White House and asked a simple enough question to our President; “Can he feel his hair, to see if it felt just like his?”

Barack Obama being elected President of the United States is a monumental occurrence for so many around the world.

This is so cute. And now I can tell my brother and my cousins that they can be President some day. USA!!! USA!!!! USA!!!!

  • tHAT’S JUST A LIGHTED SKINNED BLACK LITTLE BOY

I’m tired of everyone thinking a little light skinned kid or light skinned woman is mixed. Both of my parents are black (light skinned) every time I go somewhere I get tired of people asking me if I’m mixed with Latina,Indian,or Asian because of my light bronze skin tone and my long beautiful curly hair. But when I wear is straight it’s bouncy stringy. Black on black can create all Exotic skin Tones and Exotic Hair Textures.

It just seems the black women always turn out exotic looking and the black men just look black that’s just the way God had it planned.

Yes my family is blessed with great black genes and so are other black families. Black on Black are the only ones with the Dominant Gene so therefore we can created all skin tones.

This mix sh*t aint nothing you have to use a black person just so your white skinned kid can have skin tone and curly hair (White People are Sad White Skinned Things)

  • free

@ that’s just a light skinned black boy

Why are you so bitter? Quit bringing negativity to such a positive post.

  • NIK

    Thats just a light skinned….

That’s completely irrelevant to the topic?? I am light skinned as well, but the picture of Obama and this little boy has nothing to do with the color of his skin? It’s a nice picture of our president with an innocent young man who all he wanted was to touch his hair. (SO CUTE BY THE WAY)

  • Magz

The ironic thing is, both men have reached a certain level of being beyond reproach. Didn’t you know the classic picture of JFK, MLK and Abe Lincoln (now you know you have a grandparent or aunt / uncle with that picture still hanging) is being replaced with Obama, Tyler Perry and Jay Z?

  • Lady J

Awww…this is so wonderful..the picture speaks for itself!!! No interpretation needed….

  • My2Cents

@Nik, I disagree. The failure of “our children” goes all the way back the generation born in the 1930′s and it’s been passed on and on from there (even Bill Cosby admitted this fact). Those of us who don’t have any children haven’t failed. Blame it on generations from before. However, don’t use that as an excuse.

  • Glok9n: The real glok !!! Lev 20:13

    NIK !
    LOL, ITS THEM MEDS GAL!

  • Glok9n: The real glok !!! Lev 20:13

YEAH THE PIC SPEAKS FOR IT SELF ,..THE LIL KID IN THE PIC IS SEEING IF WE REALLY DO HAVE A “BLK” PREZ!, HE SEE’S HIM EVERYWHERE EXCEPT IN THE BLK NEIGHBORHOODS!

  • NIK

    My 2 cents:

There comes a time where you begin to know between right and wrong. Generations adapt. (or they should anyway) Many of our grandparents and thier parents didn’t and couldn’t see things from a different perspective because that’s all they knew. Today you should know better. There are so many walks of life now that a “tunnel vision” view on life just isn’t acceptable. If you create a narrow minded child there’s no one else to blame but yourself. And for the people that don’t have children don’t count yourself out because you also have a job to do. Just because you don’t have children yet, doesn’t mean you can’t spread a positive word and outlook to a child

  • Sterling

    @first comments
Its less about him being mixed…more about him being black..

  • Sterling

that picture is `real deep…some of you were just too superficial to understand that

  • NIK

    My 2 cents:

Also, the issues we have today, and the issues they faced in the 30′s are completely different. We can’t blame the behaivors of different generations on our children now. It’s our fault, not our grandparents?

  • http://bossip bb

President Obama is basically a good man who tries to do the right thing

However some decisions are not always in his hands

  • NIK

    BB:

It’s a Democracy. A lot of decisions aren’t JUST up to him. Obama said “it’s not going to take just ONE MAN to change the world, it’s going to take work from ALL OF US”

Now lets get to work and do something usefull and positive today!!! :) :)

  • 2dimplzs

    Too precious for words!

  • http://twitter.com/SimplyDee1 Simply Juicy

    Awwwwwww!!!..this is so precious!!!

  • NIK

    My 2 Cents:

We are going to base our behaviors on SUPERFLY??? Yeah they SHOULD have known better but they didn’t. A lot of people in the past didn’t know better about a lot of things? But WE DO.

The second response: That’s my point! the primary outlook on children is the parents. We have failed them in our OWN HOME. NOT the past generations. No one else is to blame but US. And I WAY dissagree with the single parent homes and the wedlock problem. I know many men and women who grew up in single parent homes and they were better off. Living in a single parent home doesn’t automatically mean your ruined??? That’s not a fair statement at all. And the wedlock issue? You have to be married to be a successful parent? That’s ludacris. No disrespect but I wonder what generation you come from? If you don’t mind how old are you? There is a 50% divorce rate. What good does that do our children?

  • mamamia

That is too sweet. That little boy will remember that forever.

  • NIK

    Me2Cents:

The Blacks in those generations went with what they knew at the time. There were plenty of positive black tv. (Flip Wilson Show, Red Skelton Show, Good Times, The Jeffersons) so don’t tell me our black people were “signified” by just those negative undertoned shows. Thats ridiculous. And if you chose a path leading to wanting to become a “pimp” or “thug” etc…. then that’s the path you chose? Did they become a Doctor like Bill Cosby? or a business man like Mr. Jefferson? or a comedian like Red Fox? NO.

  • Outside the bullsh*t

Damn Obama got ya’ll fools totally brainwashed and deceived. Yeah, he had me to until I started doing a little research. He, no THEY, have you exactly where they want you. Oh, and this color foolishness, light vs. dark, is the exact reason why we continue to be looked upon as second class citizens. WE CAN’T GET PAST THESE ISSUES WITHIN OUR OWN COMMUNITY. WAKE UP PEOPLE! DAMN!

  • princedonte

i want obama i must have him as my husband

  • NIK

    My2Cents:

My daughter right now is into shows like Hannah Montana, and disney shows. Not everything in those shows betray a realistic outlook on life. Its up to ME as her SINGLE PARENT (by the way) to give her that realistic outlook. It’s up to ME to keep her leveled headed. It’s up to ME to make sure she keeps on the right track. If I don’t, only I have failed her. I can’t blame anyone else but ME

  • Caramel Cat

    @My2Cents

I had been agreeing with you for the most part but now I have to call bullsh!t. I come from a single parent home (parents divorced when I was 8) and I am a very successful highly educated married woman without any children. I have SEVERAL cousins my age that come from 2 parent households and they have 2 and 3 kids by different men and have never married. So, although I see what you are trying to convey, it really does not apply to every situation. It’s all about the integrity of the person that affects their offspring.

  • Nigga Said

This picture is so amazing. A child touching a grown ups head. Its so deep. Its almost as if the child said, can I touch your head and the man said, yes. Yes you can touch my head. It just gives me chills just thinking about it. And to think of all the heads I wanted to touch as a child, but was to afraid to ask:

    Mr.T
    Michael J. Fox
    Donnie Simpson
    Sharrie Carter
    Grace Jones
    Bo Jackson
    Ted Lange
    Junk Yard Dog
    Lisa Lisa
    Bowlegged Lou
Mrs. Ginger- My 1st grade teacher

  • NIK

    My2cents:

If you grew up with two parents in the home I commend your parents, that’s just great. Today you have more single parents than you do anything else. Famous people are doing it, poor people are doing it, rich people are doing it. That is never going to go away. It’s up to the parent that takes care of their children to be BOTH parents. I am a damn good mother AND father for my daughter, because that’s MY job. That’s what I chose. It’s MY responsibility to raise my child. NOT the television and the influences of others. If I don’t succeed ONLY I have failed her. The children in her school and in our community aren’t “better” or going to be a “better” person because they have both parents in the home? IT’S UP TO THE PARENTS and the adults that surround these children in thier everyday lives to make a difference.

  • NIK

    My2cents:

I guess my whole point is, is that if you let television influence your child in a way so that THAT child wants to become a pimp ect… someone has FAILED in that household. period

  • NIK

Oh and one more thing LOL

We have to stop putting the blame on others and start making a difference now. It’s sort of irrelevant who’s fault it is. How are we going to fix it is the question???

  • NIK

So when do we STOP blaming past generations, television, the media, our teachers ect… and start taking account for our actions?? When does that happen????

  • Caramel Cat

    @My2Cents

Oh don’t get me wrong, I agree with you and I want my children to grow up in a two parent household as did my own parents (divorce is never in the plan), but my point is LIFE happens and regardless of circumstances and/or what’s on the television we have a responsibility to our children to bring them up to the best of our ability. My mother was hard working and sacrificed for my best interest and I was kept on the right path because of HER strong arm of guidance. Mr. Obama came from a single parent setting and look where he is. No, it should not necessarily be looked at as ‘ok’ or ‘the norm’ but it also should not be dismissed as an ineffective method of raising a successful and positive child that contributes to society…

  • kiki

WOW this mean so so much and it also says a lot about our president!!!

  • http://bossip bb

    @NIK
There was really was no need to be so PATRONISING

My comment was not directed at you and was not a CRITICISM so I don’t need the likes of you telling me about the DEMOCRATIC PROCESS

Please stop with the WISE CRACKS it does not make you look intelligent

    THIS IS A CLASSIC PICTURE IN SOOO MANY WAYS.. I L O V E IT… GOD BLESS BARACK…

  • Naughty Girl

Nice pic, but this guy is a joke. He still thinks he’s in a popularity contest. He ain’t a good representation of a Black American. He’s turning this country in a socialist direction and his overseas politics are a joke. He is anti-christian…he was embarassed to be black and a muslim during the election and now he mentions it at every step. Oprah BOUGHT his election. Don’t be sheep, people… Obama has done nothing for the Black Man but give money to big auto, banks etc. You can bet the brothas workin on the line at GM get handed nothing but their pink slips. Get over his color and be aware.

  • Naughty Girl

    @Outside the bullsh*t is 100% correct.

Actually records show George Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton did MORE to advance the cause of the Black Man than this imposter.

maybe he was advancing all HUMAN endeavors and not jus when they gonna make bigger kool-aid packs. gimme a break.

  • http://bossip mybaad

I have a question for all the former two faced barack supporters. those that never supported are null.

‘He has made promises he did not keep’

Have you “broken” a promise in the last 101 days that you made to yourself or anyone else?

    was it circumstantial?
    was it delayed?
or were u just a liar?

  • Chawklitgirl

I LOVE this sweet picture! He looks like he could be his son.

  • Nigga Said

Another thing I wish all black people would stop acting like he’s “our” president. He is the president of the United States of America. That is his concern. The whole country. Not your hood, not your job status, but the good of the whole entire country.

  • NIK

    My2Cents:

I think the biggest reason of my debate with you is when you say “that’s ALL they know” I think is BS. When you grow up in a F!@#$ up home that’s not all you know? You go to school, have friends, see how others lives are. You at some point see what’s right and wrong. You experience other outlets in life other than JUST what’s in the home.

  • NIK

You said it’s not ok to consider a single parent home “ok” or the “norm” It IS ok sometimes and it’s NOT ok sometimes. Just like having a two parent home isn’t always ok either. It’s a case-by-case situation. And as far as it being “normal” sorry to say, that’s exactly what’s it’s become. It’s normal to have a single parent home. Whether it be from one parent leaving or divorce. Whether we like it or not

  • Niasia

    just too cute

  • knottmyhair

    oh my gosh….i bout cried….adorable!

  • the one

this picture made me cry. i don’t care what the media says about our people, especially our men. we can accomplish great things. god is so good.

  • Taylor

    How cute is that!!!

  • Kool Breeze

I guess some of you color struck fools would have preferred that the kid in that picture be dark skin right. The white racist folks from the past has definately passed on the racist ideology to a lot of black folks of this generation. It seems like those color struck black folks who are always talkin about light skin this and mixed that are black folks worst enemy.

  • MissChoklate

I LOVE THE OBAMAS AND THIS PIC SPEAKS A 1000 WORDS. A VERY ENCOURAGING PICTURE…I LOVE IT.

  • MrS HoLyFieLd_MoMMy2B

Oh wow! This is a beautiful pic.
What an amazing moment for that lil boy.

  • Naughty Girl

Yes, I’ve broken a lot of promises. More than I care to think about actually.

I don’t mind the promises that all of these presidents make and break. Cause that’s just being human. The biggest deal here is that this man is NOT someone that represents the best interests for our people. He is disengenuous and two-faced. He is an opportunist that has DENIED being black and Muslim when it suits him and now is USING it to garner public popularity. I feel sad when I see lots of good hearted Black folks talk this man up when he basically has denied himself and us. The reverse is that if he can send the message that it’s okay for people to shoot for the dreams…cool.

And don’t even get me started on his Middle East policies. Man, talk to some of the Soldiers. About the best move he made was not publishing those Abuse pics. THAT was a move I admired, protecting OUR AND HIS soldiers as Commander in Chief.

Anyways, sorry all that is so long ;D

I know President Obama is a down to earth man, but he needs to be more conscious of his image and position as President Of The United States. I don’t like to see the President Of The United States bowed over like that. It would have been more appropriate for him to pick the little boy up rather than bowing down like that.

I also didn’t like it when he bowed when greeting the king of Saudi Arabia.

  • darealwifey

My exact words when I saw that pic were, “Awww, wow!” I think even for those of us who can’t begin to consciously fathom the enormity of President Obama’s election, our unconscious minds know the truth. The fact that I was immediately so touched by the picture of our first black president bending down to allow a little black boy to touch the top of his head. That is a picture to be painted and put in a museum. I would hang this portrait on my wall. This is a very, very powerful picture. Love it to pieces. Very real and very touching.

  • http://www.bossip.com shaz

oh gosh, this picture makes me feel like crying, i jus love obama, the way he bent down so innocently for this lil boy to touch his head, he doesn’t even understand the impact he may have on this child’s life and how this child will strive for better since he got to see a man of authority that looks like him and has the hair texture. may god bless obama..

I agree that he sometimes is too eager to appear humble, but in this instance, I find it very endearing.

I did not like the image of him bowing to a Saudi King, either (particularly, when the Saudi’s themselves said it was not customary, and in fact, frowned upon for religious reasons). But I will give him a break. The government of the U.S. has been so out-of-touch with the people for so long, I think he is trying to disenfranchised people know that they can “reach” and achieve.

I swear its amazing that this man can’t win among his won, no matter what he does. Why is it so difficult to accept someone at face value?

Barack Obama is an awesome man, who is on a daily basis doing awesome things. This picture is amazing because it says to this child, yes this is the President of the USA, but he is an ordinary person just like him and makes any life goal for this child attainable!

Can we PLEASE stop calling ourselves NIG***???
PLEASE. Substitute it with Brother, or man, or friend or anything other than the Word of oppression and Familial destruction heaped upon our forefathers and their forefathers. Its time for the NEW. Emulate The leader of the free world and TEACH other people how to treat us.

That little boy got something that I as a 47 year old man never had when I was his age, there is a president that looks like ME, his hair, skin color, place where I grew up everything.

If you’d like to print the picture, here’s the Whitehouse flicker link with the original picture.
    Enjoy.

This is why I love Obama . . . With all the negative citizens in the black community he is like a beacon of hope and he’s raising two black women who i’m sure won’t be having babies in highschool, doing nothing but spreading stds, and actually know some words in the dictionary so when someone talks to them they don’t have to dumb things down. And he’s definitely hope – no more excuses for why you can’t do something.

The N- word is the least of our worries as far as the black race is concerned.

Awww! Him so cute & adorable!!!!

funny, how he wanted to connect with the President through hair. Hair is what identifies us-imagine if Barack wore a perm. Lets go natural people and show the world we are proud of our God-given, uniquely different crown of HAIR…

That is awesome! I love The President. I love the pride he has in himself and his people, MY people. I love his love for his wife and children. I love the pride that President Obama has given so many African American children. If the President does nothing else but have the OBAMA EFFECT, (men have claimed that they’ve been inspired to marry their “baby mamas” in several cases) then his be will be done as far as I concerned!!!

  • MeSexyMe

    I LOVE IT!

First, let me say that I am not black, so I cannot begin to understand all of the implications of this picture for African Americans. But I imagine that seeing someone who looks like you as the most powerful man in the world, is a revelation.

For so long, the leaders of the world have looked like me. Old and white. So it was easy for me to tell my children that they could do or be anything they wanted. I also imagine that when a black parent said that to a child, in the back of their mind there had to be the thought “if only the white guys on top would just move out of the way.”

Barack Obama moved them out of the way without pushing, but by succeeding, no violence, just excellence. He is an example not only to people of color but to all. Here is a man who is in power because he deserves it.
