If we mutually agree that he would not work and stay home then I would expect hime to cook, clean, laundry and I would help some when I got home. I know a couple who did this and it worked well for them.

Girl, I don’t even know where to begin on this one. If my man didn’t work then he would have to contribute to the household in some other way. As you mentioned, cooking, cleaning, or whatever he needs to do to contribute to the overall well being of the household.

Inevitably, his ego will erode, because that is how men are; they want to feel as if they are the “man” regardless of who is making more in the relationship. I feel that the woman in the relationship has the power to keep his ego in check…if she handles it right.

The money is in refining. However, I could care less about refining as long as I knew that oil was under my property and oil companies were trying to get at me.

All that means nothing to me. When I look at all her accomplishments and where she came from thats enough experience for me. Remember, sotomayor has made many decisions liberal and conservative in the various courts that she has served, she is as well rounded as any other judge. There is NO ONE more well suited for the highest court in the land than sotomayer.

Wow… This IS/WAS my life. Let me explain – my husband is an OTR truck driver, and has been for some time. When he decided to take a job that would allow him to be home more, he was there for 6 months (lumber co) and got laid off due to the economy (this was last yr in October). We thought, truck driver, no problem. Get another gig. WRONG! It took him 5 months to find a job. During this 5 months, my grass was re-seeded, my house was clean daily, clothes washed, groceries stocked, clothes washed, errands and business taken care of. The only thing that he did not do was cook, because he doesn’t know how (bless his heart ). So yes, unemployed = Mr. Mom around my camp.
In regards to the 2nd part of the question, we live that as well. I make approx twice what he does. This is not an issue because that whole “it’s OURS, and what benefits you benefits me”, we believe and live by that. So when I get a huge bonus, he’s happy! And when he brings home his check, so am I! It’s a concerted effort in a relationship, and when you have expectations for one or the other to always carry more/less than it becomes an issue. We just “get er done”, regardless of who is doing what, and that works out EXCELLENT for us….

@tony red- we bought all thse rich dad, poor dad books, and the ones with Donald Trump and Robert Kiosayki. We never attended the shows, but hubby is still into real estate (mainly commercial now).. Some of it was worth the information, some was not. I wish you had a p.o. box, I could mail you these hardback copies…We don’t use them. Hubby keeps them for reference, but not much else.
My uncle in Tx is a real estate agent, so I don’t really bother with using my own credit, for deals..

They sit in the den, on the bookshelf..Along with the Carleton Sheets, and other make money books…
