Lena Dunham Rough Racing In Paddleboard Charity Event

Poor thang! “Girls” star Lena Dunham almost ended up set adrift on memory bliss… somewhere out in the Hamptons over the weekend when her participation in a charity paddleboard race went totally left.

Via Page Six reports:

Lena Dunham was rescued by pro surfer Laird Hamilton at the Hamptons Paddle & Party for Pink Saturday.

A spy at the annual charity paddle-board race, which raised $1.6 million, said: “It was a tough paddle . . . Windy and harder than expected.”

Hamilton and Bethenny Frankel, who did the race last year and said the course this time was “gnarly,” finished well.

But Dunham drifted off into Mecox Bay.

“Lena was looking around for help. Laird swam out and dragged her back on course,” said a spy.

Dunham later posted on Instagram: “Laird Hamilton [came] to save me. He is literally King Triton . . . he appeared as if from the ocean’s depths and guided me to the finish line.”

At an after-party, Gwyneth Paltrow was with boyfriend Brad Falchuk.

“They came separately and weren’t photographed together,” a spy said.

Nile Rodgers and Chic performed for guests including Matt Lauer, Jane Krakowski, Hannah Bronfman, Tracy Anderson, Gabrielle Reece, and co-chairs Larry and Maria Baum, Richard and Lisa Perry and Bippy and Jackie Siegal.

Glad Laird was there to save the day…
