Did anyone see the MTV True Life episode “I’m bisexual?” There was a guy on there who swore up and down he liked women first, then men, but still loved women but it was soooo obvious he’s just regular gay and in denial. He even seemed more natural and relaxed when it showed him around men than women, but I just don’t think he was ready to say it’s all about the men.

I’m not God, and some of the things that I do, or think, or say may be just as bad in His eyes. No one sin is greater than the next. Speaking from an open minded stand point, I believe that it doesnt necessarily make you gay but it definitely would indicate you are at least what society calls bi sexual. From talking with gay friends of mine I am told that being gay is not a choice and it is mental. I have one male gay friend that is very depressed and suicidal because is family is not accepting him as he is. So just knowing that I would have to say it is more than a choice to be gay than an one time act.

Girl, I lived in NYC for 10 years, so I had at least 8 Gay Flamboyant guy friends, and each of them told me with their own mouths that from the moment they can remember talking, they played with feminie toys, always had girls as friends and even liked boys in pre school. Church is often a front for other issues within an individual. I had several friends when I was in arts school who would be out with me late Saturday night/early Sunday a.m and they would go to church within hours of exiting the club. To me this formula don’t add up. As far as the poster who mentioned the old ladies talking about others in the congregation, it seems to me church goers are often the biggest hypocrites on the face of the earth. Since I see you are not done, I want to pose a question to you because as a mid-30 something, single woman, the pickings are slim and I encounter a lof of men that I am suspect of being DL or having gay tendancies.

My question is this: Are men that are on the DL, is it a case of them simply wanting their cake and eating it too, and using the fear of having the “scarlet letter” as an EXCUSE to do so?

I agree that we (ie Black folks) can be harsh when it comes to this issue, and I know that men aren’t great at expressing their true feelings, but at the same time, I often wonder if DL men use the “I’m afraid of what people might say” as an excuse to continue with their behavior, and it’s selfish.

Even gay men need kindness, help and understanding. They are people too. I would not wish this situation on my worst enemy.
