Aretha Franklin was quoted poppin some ish on your girl Bey about her Grammy performance where she addressed Tina Turner as “The Queen”:
“I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyoncé, however I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy.”
Re-Re was like Fu*k that, I’m a let these fools know who the real “Queen” is. Just next time say it when you’re wearing a bra Aretha. She be letting those tig ole bitties hang on the regular.

I expect the young to not understand why Aretha was rubbed the wrong way by that. If you know Aretha’s history, you should understand. But there could have been some behind-the-scene drama going on with Aretha and the Grammy’s or somebody. Whoever was responsible for that piece, it was in bad taste.

Beyonce is from my hometown and she represents us well. However, I thought her intro was not well thought out because she unintentionally insulted several artists, including Aretha.
I have much respect for Tina Turner and I think she is a legend, but I don’t think she is better than Gladys Knight, Diana Ross, Janet Jackson, or Nancy Wilson. You really cannot compare them because their individual talent is unique.
Beyonce has a right to her opinion and I don’t disagree with her having one. She did not have to hold Tina up by diminishing the other artists in her intro. Of course, I don’t think she meant to do it, but she did cause this controversy.
We already exposed Dianna for being a heffah with the whole dream girls thing, the only reason we don’t call out Aretha is because her voice is undeniable but come off it already!. There can be more than one Queen. She wasn’t saying Tina was the Queen of soul, we know that’s your title but give props when they are due and Tina is Queen at what she does. Tina doesn’t and probably will never get the recognition that she deserves in America because even though her and Ike charted several hits they were very much a soul group in the studio but once they hit the stage it was pure rock.
People think that Tina Turner went rock n’ roll after Ike, but she’s been at the forefront of rock n’ roll since it’s inception and she’s the reason that you hear singers like Rhianna singing hits like ‘Umbrella’ and you see artist like Mary J. doing duets with U2.
Tina has broken down more doors for female performers of all races but she’s especially changed the way that whites see African American females in music. Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Bryan Adams, Tom Jones, Elvis, Paul McCartney, and other huge names in the music business have all dueted with Tina – why? Because she’s the Queen!
I am wondering when black America is going to give Tina Turner the true respect that she deserves. When will she get her BET celebration? I mean they’ve done it in London for the MOBO Awards. Why is black America so hesitent to give Tina her props? Is it because she moved to Europe became as big as the Rolling Stones and Madonna?
