It’s a damn shame that a group of people can’t come together to express opinions without having to play the race card. (and im talking about playing the race card from both ends of the spectrum)

Leave Ceelo the hell alone…it’s not about emasculating Black men…it’s not even close to being that deep. Everyone has their own style. You have eccentric types like Erykah and Andre 3000 and the more classic types like MJB and Alicia Keys. It seems like when people want to deviate from the norm, there’s always some deep, underlying reason that’s related to racism/sexism involved. Maybe Ceelo’s just crazy, like me.

Pervester- that is deep when you think about it because just about every black actor has dressed up as a woman- except Denzel, Will and Blair to name a few off the top of my head.

the cee-lo thing is a joke, so it’s not too much top read into that.

Well I think the photo is a metaphor for Danger Mouse’s production and Cee-lo’s lyrics and sound being like the perfect marriage. I dig them both as artist b/c they do what the hell they wanna do w/o caring about what people think. Cee-lo has always pushed the envelope (remember the “Freak” video…lol) Can’t wait for the follow-up to their debut….

I can’t help but think back to when I heard Dave Chappelle on a talk radio show, explaining why he left the show after the $50 mil contract. He began to talk of how the “studios” wanted to make him do things that he did not want to do; whether in movies or what have you.

He talked about all the roles he turned down because they always wanted to put him in a dress and makeup. He refused. He went on to talk about all the success of major Black male stars that did so (Martin, Tyler Perry, Ving Rames, Chris Tucker, etc).. He says that the Hollywood establishment (he believes) is infatuated with the immasculation of the Black male.

Is Cee-lo just another one of the brothas taking the plunge to achieve/maintain success? I wonder..
