I re-read her response — you must have gotten her age from her MySpace. I’m going to have to look at the video and her page at home (too risky at work) and form a response. It’s sad that she feels no regret when she should be humiliated –just look at the reactions from posters on the thread. When you present yourself in a poor fashion, people treat you accordingly, and no amount of money or fame in the world is worth your dignity. So sad.

I saw that message on the Plies thread and I couldn’t believe my eyes. I didn’t realize she’s 29 years old (my goodness). I haven’t even looked at that video yet. I’ll think about dropping her a line. When you take out the profane names, I do think you made some cogent points about the behavior of some young women, but I’ve also seen deplorable behavior among young men. I see this as a cultural problem — a Census Bureau report was recently released that showed that 38% of black children live with two parents, the lowest of the racial groups surveyed. Do I think this trend has contributed to some of our community’s ills — Absolutely, but this is a multi-faceted problem. You called me out yesterday and although I have done some personal outreach on an individual basis to young women, there’s so much more I could do. I have personally seen humiliating behavior of young sisters, and I hurt for them because they don’t realize, or don’t care, how they are perceived.
