Kels is tryin’ to jumpstart his career again but he has to go test the waters in Africa since most people here are not tryin’ to support his child molestin’ @ss.

South Africans better get ready to step in the name of love, because R. Kelly’s coming to their neck of the woods for the ARISE Africa Fashion Awards.

The awards ceremony and concert, scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 20, will be the culmination of the first-ever ARISE Fashion Week. Kelz is using the show to kick off a global tour that will make stops throughout Africa and end in London. “I’m very excited about my first visit to Africa,” R. Kelly said. “I’ve dreamed about this for a long time and its finally here. It will be one of the highlights of not only my career but my life. I can’t wait to perform in front of my fans in Africa – who have been some of the best in the world.”

ARISE Fashion Week is being presented by ARISE magazine, a fashion, music and culture publication, and African Fashion International (AFI) in order to bring attention to the emerging arts and culture scene in the nation. Hometown designers will compete for the opportunity to have their work shown at the magazine’s show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York this September.

“The moment for Africa is upon us,” said Nduka Obaigbena, the magazine’s founder. “At this time of global economic crisis, the people of Africa must turn disadvantage into opportunity and show the world that we are witnessing the first green shoots of the emerging African century. We have all it takes and we’re going for it!”

In case you’re thinking of taking a trip to the Motherland this summer, here are R, Kelly’s tour dates:

Saturday, June 27 at the Superbowl in Sun City

Monday, June 29 at the Grand West Casino in Cape Town

She recently divorced him, but I agree she stayed around through all that..I don’t know why..maybe she wanted 2 give him the benefit of the doubt. Their divorce was very quiet, I wonder why it ended too

  • life

But as for R. Kelly, I love his music and i can separate his music from his personal life. He’s a great artist and his legal bs is his problem.

Kellz deserves a second chance…Black people are always quick to throw you under the bus, some things will never change..

  • GingerTee21

What was revealed to the public are those things that the public would react to. That is often the situation in many court cases. Nothing anyone can say will change public opinion, I just stated some facts

  • CoCoChanel

Im not really a fan of R.Kelly anyways, so he needs to just stay at home and quit coming out and trynna make comebacks every 4 years! GO ON SOMEWHERE!

  • St. Laura

I hope they throw a spear at him. He’s disgusting. I can’t believe Africa is supporting this child rapist. They need to close their borders.

  • they’d rather speculate before they informate (if that’s a word)

From the CIA Factbook (U.S. Govt figures) on RSA:

    Literacy:

definition: age 15 and over can read and write
    total population: 86.4%
    male: 87%
    female: 85.7% (2003 est.)

    HIV/AIDS – adult prevalence rate:

    18.1% (2007 est.)
country comparison to the world: 4
(still kcufed up, but hardly 31%)

If looking at females only – 13%
    (http://www.avert.org/safricastats.htm)
Don’t come back quoting the figures reported by the BBC this past week – those related to a narrowed age group, and weren’t across-the-board figures.

    I’m just sayin…
