Tattoos are alright, as long as they have personal meaning and are not gotten because it’s the ‘cool’ thing to do or you’re a wannabe stripper. Just thinking about 20, 30 years from now when everybody who got a tramp stamp is menopausal… shudder. I don’t think that the full sleeve is tacky at all on women. Half of y’all broads hating on Jackie-O’s tats are probably walking around with some man’s name or two cherries tattooed on your neck. I think that it’s an expression and if I wasn’t worried about scaring parents away because their child’s teacher was tatted up, I would get the full sleeve too.

I don’t know how or why you’re interpreting that of them, but for myself: I was on the bus and some early 20s latino gangbangers got on. One dude had some *****ing playing cards tattooed into his head. That was in addition to gang symbols.
If your culture is tattoo, that’s fine, but there are different subcultures to the culure, you know what I mean?
Many of my cousins are covered with tattoos. I agree with Nita that it is a subculture. La Mara is a gang that many people on this site likely overlook and do not respect, but hands down they are the most recognizable and powerful gang in the U.S. now. That is off subject, but tattoos mean different things to different people
