I think his talent has a lot to do with it. When I first heard his latest song, I thought he sounded like a mixture of Kanye and Lil’ Wayne. That’s how I noticed him.

Also, his lyrics and delivery are top notch.

u have to listen to his second mixtape comeback season to really understand how he has progressed. just listen to some of the ***** he says, his flow is different that makes him stand out, and the fact that he can sing as well. at least he aint making no bs about the stanky leg, and he’s making music that he actually feels. He has a cross over audience…and yes he was on Degr*****i..I remember watching that ish..in the 80’s. I caught one episode recently and Drake was on it..(but thats where his cross over audience) comes from. He has a huge following because of that-(and other small things too).

People love drake because his lyrics are real, and his beats are enjoyable as well. He raps well from START to FINISH, not just one part. There is no “favorite part” really to a drake song. You can tell he’s a really smart guy in his music, and he doesnt just get into relationships to fool around.

But he’s just starting to get his ***** heard everywhere else, and I personally think it’s about time. His delivery is amazing – his lyrics are disgusting, and let us not ignore the fact that he has clearly been ghostwriting for Wayne for some time now. Why else was Wayne keepin this ***** close, paying him, but not signing him? (And using his verses on live performances) … Think about it.

Drake is an artist, not a gimmick. Moreover, he’s what he is because of hard work, studying and determination. He’s not making up new words to make rhymes, he actually owns a dictionary. And he’s definitely not perpetrating for $$- his lines represent him and his lifestyle. And he recognizes the vacancy in the industry for a rapper that is sensitive like ol’ LLcool J, smart like talib, refreshing like ol’ Kanye, yet authentically hip hop- without being a joke, that old white people laugh about behind close dors and capitaize on.
He’s getting respect from the greats because he’s choosing to conduct himself as one and preserve what is left of a dying art form.
whether his lyrics or sick or not, how many canadian artist- that rep Canada- can you say get US airplay? Our rappers have to work twice as hard for your recognition. He’s no orvernight sensation, he’s been at it and was one of the first unsigned canadian rapper to have a song in rotation on BET two years ago.
Give props where its due- he ain’y sexy, he ain’t american,he ain’t signed, he’s paid in Canadian dollars, was a degr*****i kid and he’s still killing it.

You gotta respect someone working hard- no matter what they look like or whether you like the music to not. Being a child actor must have taught this cat how to hustle like most of don’t know. And his father and uncle are Memphis musicians – old school roots and the hustle game teaches you a couple of things. Bunch of haters attributing his success to the fact that he’s Jewish are just silly, as if the HipHop establishment are rushing to his side because of that. This is just my opinion- Drake is ok when it comes to rhyymes and if you ask me, a lot of his stuff sounds like lil wayne and I know he doesnt write all his rhymes. I am a mad big Kanye fan and I think he slated Kanye because Drake made it very clear that Kanye was an influence in his career! Kanye isnt going to turn anyone down who finds him as an influence! That would be crazy! Also, I think Kanye supports Drake because he did a lot of producing on Jay z up coming album and Drake is on there, so its almost like, he feels some sort of obligation! Im not saying that Drake (who i like to call Wheelchair Jimmy) isnt nice, i just dont think he is worth all the hype. Then I also believe that hip hop is in a crazy drought right now! People like Souljah boy are taking over the airwaves and Wheelchair Jimmy comes in and has a little talent to him and people are sucking that up! His timing is perfect! He has been out for some time tho becaue a couple years ago he had a song called replacement girl that he did with trey Songz. Im not gonna go and say he is around to stay.. but I think his success is slated mostly to the times hip hop is going through. My fiance beleives some of it is because he is jewish and the industry is run by mostly jewish people, I dont think thats the case but you never know! I wont be buyin his album because Im not that impressed at this time, we will see what happens later.

He has definitely improved on wordplay but he is starting not to have an original flow anymore…like his first album he was very distinct and now he seems like a hybrid of Lil Wayne and Kanye. possibly bcos he speaks proper english but can play the game the way it should, and has the skill to actually rap rather than muddle up what is words and talk about all his fake diamond chain, and his car, house,plane,girls and what not, he actually can put it down, production is amazing and skill is top notch and guess what he doesn’t need a auto tune to help him out but though the option is there
