If they take all of this money out of my check and I pass away tomorrow, the money goes straight into the governments’ hands so I think she should modify the universal healthcare plan being required for all. So my point is, is that if Michelle wanted to do half of the things Hillary’s done then she wouldn’t need to be First Lady to do it. When Hillary graduated from Law School she immediately began doing/organizing work for women and children.

And if you really did you research on Hillary you would know that Hillary’s mother was a single parent and held down 2 jobs to raise her. You’d also know that that’s where Hillary’s motivation for helping women and children comes from. She held numerous public sectors in Chicago working alongside the mayor and was the assistant commissioner of planning and development for the city of Chicago. She is also in public non profit organizations such as public allies that deals with youths that have social issues and encourages them to engage in non profit community work. She developed the University of Chicago’s community service center, she’s on the board of directors for Chicago’s council on global affairs,and in in charge of community affairs in Chicago’s hospitals. She has done a lot of non profit work. The major part of her income comes from her being a lawyer and the fact that she was the director of Chicago’s hospitals. No she hasn’t done any charity work work overseas but she has done a lot in the slum areas of her hometown which is just as credible as going over to another country.

a few weeks ago, i became heated with a few posters about barack obama. it was personal. today, it is VERY personal. my mama, my best friend, she passed away on the 8th of this month. she may have been sick, but she didn’t tell me. she could not afford decent health care that would have saved her, and i find that factor personal. it’s one thing to have universal health care, but it’s another to be able to afford it. i barely had enough to have a decent funeral for my mama. all i know is, the very issues of change that barack obama stands for, my mamam and i supported and campaigned for on obama’s behalf, because she knew, like i know, like he knows, that ther will be many more people to lose loved ones to the disaster of high health care costs. i thought my mama and i would see a black man as the president, but we were wrong, because of the healthcare costs.

His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars are spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress.

Foreign Policy Experience:

Obama’s foreign policy experience includes graduating from Columbia University with a degree in political science with an emphasis on international relations. In the U.S. Senate Obama is unique among Senators in that he serves on three of the four Senate Committees dealing with foreign policy issues including the Foreign Relations; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and Veterans’ Affairs committees and is the Chair of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Relations which is responsible fore U.S. relations with European countries, the European Union, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (i.e., NATO). When comparing Obama’s foreign policy experience with other candidates for President you have Democrat Joseph Biden who is Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Democrat Hillary Clinton who is a member of the Armed Services Committee and John McCain who is the Ranking Member of the Armed Services Committee yet there is no Senator except for Barack Obama who serves on three of the four committees that deal with foreign policy.

Obama service on the Foreign Relations committee has placed him in an unique position in that he is the Chair of the Subcommittee on European Relations and serves on the Subcommittees on African Affairs; East Asia and Pacific Affairs; and International Development and Foreign Assistance, Economic Affairs, and International Environmental Protection. This cross-section of subcommittees places Obama in a unique position of having knowledge about Asian, African and European issues. The only other member of the Foreign Relations committee who is running for President is Democrat Joseph Biden who is Chairman of the full Foreign Relations Committee yet unlike Obama he does not serve on any of the other foreign policy committees and his experience is limited to foreign policy issues covered by the Foreign Relations Committee.

Obama has also traveled extensively in his capacity as a member of the Foreign Relations Committee and has visited Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan in Asia; Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, and the Palestinian Territories in the Middle East; and Chad, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, and South Africa in Africa. Obama has also co-sponsored the “Lugar-Obama Act” with Republican Senator Richard Lugar who was Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations at the time. This act was a bi-partisan effort to increase U.S. security in terms of the elimination of conventional weapons and weapons of mass destruction. This legislation came out of Obama’s trip with Senator Richard Lugar to Russia, the Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

Obama has also sponsored legislation such as the “Democratic Republic of Congo Relief, Security, and Democracy Promotion Act” which was signed into law by President Bush on December 22, 2006. Obama has co-sponsored immigration related bills related to his service on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee including the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act. His extensive foreign policy experience exceeds that of every other Presidential candidate including his trips abroad in the performance of his official duties as a member of committees dealing with foreign relation issues.

While some have criticized Obama’s foreign travel claiming that he is the most traveled freshman Senator in doing so they often fail to mention that as a result of his extensive trips abroad is legislation such as the Lugar-Obama Act instead preferring to make the political connection between his travels abroad to his run for President yet others will recognize the experience he has gained as a result of his foreign trips and recognize that as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that he is expected to travel extensively and that his travels often were with the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.

Life Experience:

After graduating, he went to work as a community organizer in Chicago. Following three years of helping some of Chicago’s poorest residents recover from a steel mill closing through job training programs, he went to Harvard Law. There, he became the first black editor of the Harvard Law Review. Instead of seeking a high paying job upon graduating from Harvard, he returned to Chicago and went back to the neighborhood communities by organizing and helping to register 150,000 voters. He then began working at a civil rights firm and went on to teach constitutional law at the University of Chicago. He did all of this before his career in politics began.

Yeah, I know it’s long, but if you don’t want to read it all and say that he doesn’t have any experience, well… continue to do so. I hear the argument for Clinton’s experience and I do take that into account. I looked into just her years as a senator and not as a first lady of the US or Arkansas. She’s okay, but it is my belief that she cannot get the things done that she says she can. I could be wrong, but hey so could the Hillary supporters. I can only state the information that is readily available about Barack Obama. Don’t just blindly say he hasn’t done anything or he doesn’t have any experience because he has managed to do a lot with the short time he has been in office and I believe that with his willingness to work with the other party, we can get bills passed through Congress that will make it to his desk that will get signed into law.

It amazes me to hear ppl say this woman isn’t beautiful,…..She is beautiful in her own right. Beauty is not continguent soley on looks. And as you get older, you’ll learn that. She looks so much like our Mothers, Grand-Mothers, and Aunts (Beautiful brown skin, full head of hair without hair extensions, dresses like an intelligent woman), and speaks with passion…..she paints a beautiful picture of what us young black ppl see everday in our communities……. Strong intelligent woman,lawyer,mothers, supportive wife, speaks with intelligence, yet is still submissive enough to fall back. She represents the side of the black woman that America doesn’t get to see. She is his Coretta Scott King!

I find this to be the most pathetic criticism of Obama. How many people were convinced four years ago that if they didnt vote for G.W. Bush they were anti American and un Christian? Voting for the French looking Kerry was damning yourself to the fiery depths of hell. Democrats fours years ago felt the same way about the lackluster Kerry as Republicans do about McCain. It is no surprise that they would be so excited about a candidate.

What difference does it make if someone call Mrs. Obama unattractive as long as you are listening to her words? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

She and her husband are classy and intelligent. So my best wishes if they get in without having to come through the back. But ya know, it might be the only way they can dodge those bullets. I hope not.

I like Michelle and feel like anyone who doesn’t is simply intimidated by a strong woman. Barack knows what he has in his wife and he is not ashamed to let the world know it. Why are people calling her ugly? Men like you (who have made those comments) will never find a true woman…you know the kind that will actually STAY with you when you are broke. Its because you look for the most plastic broad out there who will only kiss your ass when you’re doing fine…Then you lose the money and get a chip on your shoulder.

This woman is both beautiful AND brilliant. Why such harsh criticism of her? I think more than a few folks on this site have an issue with Black women – especially dark-skinned Black women. Whether it’s Michelle Obama, Pauletta Washington, Usher’s wife or Gabrielle Union, some folks here reserve criticism for darker-skinned women that never seems to find its way to lighter-skinned sistas.
