I’m glad for him. Like I said, he is a teenager who make a horrible mistake (even though they think they’re grown as hell). However, his mistake was not heinous enough to warrant him being incarcerated with hardened criminals. Now if he maimed or killed her…that’s another story. I think he’s learned his lesson and I believe that with the counseling he’ll receive, he could actually turn out to be a decent man.

I thought he would go to jail…but Rihanna still got some justice, hard labor is a good form of justice as well.
I basically read that…the beater will do 180 days of hard labor (Caltrans or graffiti cleanup, etc.), he’ll attend council sessions and he also has 5 years probation, if he violates his probation orders within the 5 years he will face up to 4 years in prison. Oh and he should report to court every 4 months.
Mmhmmm, although he won’t do jail time, the plea deal still sounds like justice to me. Women who face violence are lucky if their attacker gets such a punishment, in other words, domestic violence towards women often goes unpunished.

I dont think it’s right for people to be defending Chris Brown’s behavior. Even if Rihanna had provoked him, she did not deserve what he did to her and there’s no proof tht she evn hit him but everybody saw her face and how badly he beat her. I hope that he really does feel a sense of remorse for what he did to her. And I think that race and cl***** has a lot to so with this case. Andrew Bynum stay away from this toxic broad, your career will be just like Chris Browns’. Everybody not just men,(men and women) need to keep their hands to themselves! Females always in a mans face provoking him, but his reactions gets him jail time. While she play the innocent “victim”; that crap is overrated. If that wasnt’ the first; who would stay in abusive situation? Everybody should be held accountable for their actions; male and female. I probably would’ve had sympathy for her IF every media site didn’t show her crying, and Chris partying in clubs surrounded by beautiful women before the fight. This was clearly a case of a woman scorned. She hasn’t empowered young women. This case showed all young girls in the world that it’s acceptable to stay with a cheater, go through his cell phone,and as soon as you see he’s on his way out the door. Start some drama and call the police.
Young girls if a man verbally, mentally, or physically abuses you; he’s not for you. If he cheats on you; leave him quickly and don’t look back. Don’t allow him to do it twice. Love yourself enough to want more for yourself.

Oh, and I strongly believe this plea deal won’t hurt him at all. When he drops his next CD, people will be lined up to buy it, including many sistas. Just like R. Kelly. There’s no business like show business. SMH.

The reason why he copped a plea was to protect Rhianna! Her attorney’s agreed to a plea so that she would not have to testify, because if she did, her ***** was gonna get slapped with an *****ault charge and possibly perjury. If it had gone to trial, both of their *****es would have been up a creek.

Now he has a felony record and must walk the straight and narrow for 5 years. That’s gonna be tough.

Even though he is now a convicted felon, he will be able to get his voting rights back and he does not need to carry or own a gun because he’s rich & can hire body guards. His career will not be over because the youth of america & the rest of the globe will continue to buy his music. For those of you saying he got off scott-free, he didn’t. He is a convicted felon. Squeaky clean “Pop” image is gone and even though his career will probably recover, this will always hang over his head. He will leave behind a legacy not for fame, but for infamy.

This is a case where neither of the parties were completely innocent – and the “you should never raise your hand to anyone” philosophy goes both ways. My daddy raised me that I should never, ever raise up on a man because you really don’t know what can happen in the blink of an eye. So, I have never even put myself in a threatening position with the opposite because I know that I can’t beat up a man, and I don’t want to be on the receiving end of anyone’s basic instinct to protect themselves if they feel like they are in harm’s way. Period.

Bottom line, glad it’s over and this whole Chrianna fiasco can finally go away…

For those of you saying he got off scott-free, he didn’t. He is a convicted felon. Squeaky clean “Pop” image is gone and even though his career will probably recover, this will always hang over his head. He will leave behind a legacy not for fame, but for infamy.

This is a case where neither of the parties were completely innocent – and the “you should never raise your hand to anyone” philosophy goes both ways. My daddy raised me that I should never, ever raise up on a man because you really don’t know what can happen in the blink of an eye. So, I have never even put myself in a threatening position with the opposite because I know that I can’t beat up a man, and I don’t want to be on the receiving end of anyone’s basic instinct to protect themselves if they feel like they are in harm’s way. Period.

Bottom line, glad it’s over and this whole Chrianna fiasco can finally go away…

The reason why he copped a plea was to protect Rhianna! Her attorney’s agreed to a plea so that she would not have to testify, because if she did, her ***** was gonna get slapped with an *****ault charge and possibly perjury. If it had gone to trial, both of their *****es would have been up a creek.

Now he has a felony record and must walk the straight and narrow for 5 years. That’s gonna be tough.

By “cavalier attitude,” I’m referring to the following:

– His considerable delay in issuing a public statement and then once it was released, it was tepid at best
– The photos of him relaxing at Diddy’s house and jet skiing (not good for his public image and definitely did not indicate any remorse)
– The video in which he informed fans of the dropping of his CD and proclaimed that he “ain’t no monster”

There are other reasons for my opinion, but those are just a few.

Actually, if Rhianna and Chris Brown were not pop stars, this case would not have been prosecuted in the first case. Unfortunately, most domestic violence cases are settled and men get much lighter sentences than this. For California standards, this is a pretty tough sentence considering Chris Brown did not have a record and Rhianna was a reluctant witness. Its unfortunate that the event happend and I hope that Chris Brown does get help because he is clearly acting out the abuse he witnessed as a child. But he is young and if gets help, hopefully he can break the cycle. There are enough Black men in prison! His career is likely over; but he deserves a chance to correct his behavior.

I think he should have been sent to jail for one or two weeks. That would teach him a lesson and make him think twice about putting his hands on another woman. I don’t think Rhianna hit him because he did not file a complaint. Everyone should keep their hands to themselves but a man should never hit a woman because men are much stronger. Five years of probation and 180 days (six months!) of community service is by no means “getting off.”

While clearly Rihanna did not deserve to get beaten, I can say with a clear conscience that she is not the battered woman which so many of her supporters claim her to be (a real battered woman looks and acts nothing like Rihanna) . And Chris Brown is not the devil s***** who goes around beating the crap out of every woman he is involved with. I still will forever believe they were two very p*****ionate lovers who fought just as p*****ionately. I beleive that Chris will probably never lay a finger on another woman no matter what she says and/or does or at least control his anger enough to get the hell away from her. Rihanna learn to be more careful with any volitile actions on her part towards the one she loves.

This article proves that your writers are misinformed about the legal process. Chris Brown is not a person who had prior misdemeanors or felonies. This is standard; over 90% of all cases never go to court because plea deal is reached.

Expungement in California is not really an expungement. In a lot of states, an expungment means sealing or deleting something off of your record. Not in Cali. The best he can get–which I doubt he will be eligible for because it is a domestic violence felony—is that it will appear as a lesser charge on his record as long as he complete his probation requirements. I had decided not to comment today or as far as his plea deal but reading some of the comments on here and other places it really made me stop and think. Did folks think it was them in the car with Chris that night? Are folks vicariously living the life they want to live through Rihanna? Having read comments like folks are satisfied with the outcome… why did it matter to you? Chris nor Rihanna does not know you. Neither depended on your contempt or support during this time. Neither chose you to be judge and jury. Get Real… Nothing that went on in the courtroom was about you.

And what is getting me to me more than folks living and *****ing as though they are Rihanna are the folks blaming and faulting Rihanna for anything. Regardless to what she may have said or did in that car… what followed by Chris was not warranted. She is not the cause to the problems Chris is facing… He made the choice to go above and beyond defending himself and it became something more.

My personal opinion is Chris’ plea deal was over and beyond harsh. Five years probation for a first time offense… especially considering the alledged victim was not pushing for such a conviction…. 180 hours of community service… reportedly hard labor…. 52 sessions of dv/anger management counselling… a stay away order concerning him and Rihanna…. even with her stating that it was not needed… why was he given all of this?

While many of you are sitting on here celebrating like you all have just won something take a moment and think. Don’t you find it ironic that no such order was issued during all the time leading up to the celebrated plea deal? Don’t you find it strange that someone who has committed a first time offense was essentially handed a felon or else charge when there are countless other instances when an *****ault domestic or otherwise resulted in nothing more than a few months probation and a misdemeanor?

Have you at least taken a step back and look at the hard labor/180 hour of community service tag and asked yourself why? Ms. Campbell who is a known defendant in front of a judge was only given a weeks worth of community service and no one blinked an eye at that and yet Chris deserves 180 hours… come on now. My thinking is the judge wanted to make a name for herself or at least get her name mentioned on the news. The penalty handed out and agreed upon today was not fair and whether you are still trying living your life through Robyn Rihanna Fenty you know that.

I am neither happy or elated that all is over… I see the bigger picture and can only shake my head at the attempted destruction of both Chris and Rihanna through the media, blogs, gossip sites, magazines, fanboards/fansites and will continue to pray for both.

Rihanna also loses in this case. Now she can’t even go near Chris (Hee, hee). I know the media makes it seem like it’s CB going after her but I’ve always thought it’s the other way around. I hope all around Rihanna will guide her because she is also a troubled soul. The sad thing as much as guys want to hit it, they won’t stick. Their careers might also be jeopardized. She’ll probably move on with Drake because he’s in their camp (Jay and Kanye). CB will move on and find love with another girl and a year or 2 from now he’d have bounced back and we would’ve all forgotten about this. All he needs is Timbaland, Kerry Hilson and Michael Jackson. chris will get his sentence reduced even more on aug 5th if he acts right and attends a lot of those DV cl*****es. hell probably get the probation reduced to like 2 or 3 years and the no contact order is obviously going to be axed because rihanna obviously wants to be with him so bad.

I’m shocked at how the court can keep 2 people who obviously love each other apart and end up punishing both of them if they get caught messing with each other in that 5 week or 5 year period. I feel bad for rihanna because she obviously never wanted all of this to happen but love is a complicated thing hopefully they both can learn from this situation.

i really want to give kudos to DrmKpr for the post. very well said. for all you ppl who don’t realise it – Chris is NOT getting off easy. Not at All!! I was shocked when I saw that he had been given 5 years probabtion and a stay away order which is also supposed to last 5 yrs. The community service he’ll be doing is HARD LABOUR. Now maybe he’s getting punished like this because what he did was even worse than what we’ve heard. But in any case – for a firs time offence, and especially when Rihanna was not exactly an innocent party = the sentence is harsh. Listen guys, even if a judge is going to convict someone especially when the person pleads guilty – there are a lot of things that they take into consideration when sentencing. For first time offenders judges tend not to send a person to jail – depending of course on the severity of the case. So quit saying Chris got off easy. He got what he deserved for his actions and probably a bit more.

The judge offered Breezy 2 choices 180 days in jail or 180 days of hard labour. He made the obvious choice.
Now the thing thats really messed up about this is the stay away order because neither party expected that and its actually 2 way so rihanna cannot contact him at all either or both of them are going to get in trouble as well. 5 years is a long time and I doubt the order is going to hold. I bet they are kicking themselves for all the time they spent apart from each other.
It sucks to be a CB fan but at least hes going to be in his home for most of this.
He didn’t get off easy for what he was “accused” of doing and I honestly think he was trying to cover for her in all this.

She allowed this plea deal not knowing the Judge was going to add in the extra, not being around each other part. Also, she knew her part in this.
