When my oldest son was in kindergarten he used to wear his hair faded with a couple of small locs in the back. His teacher came up to his desk and started to feel on his locs when she was takling to him.
He came home and cut his locs because he didn’t like the attention she was giving him.

Lenny is handsome as hell, and very talented. I got into his music in 1998 when he released “5″. I’ve been a fan ever since. And for the record, this is how you rock a natural! His hair looks thick and healthy. If the bottom half of his hair was pressed or relaxed while the top was still in its natural state I’d be clowning. But he rocked his natural the right way so I have no complaints.

Why do you need them to tell you there’s nothing wrong with natural hair? If they want to rock the bone straight, they can rock the bone straight. That’s their choice. It doesn’t make natural hair less beautiful because they don’t wear their hair that way. We are way too busy looking to hollywood and everywhere else to validate the way we wear our hair as if only hollywood’s opinion on what is beautiful is the only one that matters. Damn that! My kinky, coily hair is beautiful because I believe it to be so. Anyone who doesn’t like it can kick rocks and pound sand. Time to stop perpetuating the self-loathing, people.

This style works for me because it filters out all the superficial types from getting into my world only to bother and cause all sorts of madness. Women, truly soulful women, respond nicely to this vibe. Trust.
