I got mad mad mad respect for Lenny. In fact, I am from the same style species. Sure he got the rock-natural vibe, but that is the truest vibe of all in my humble opinion. I mean naturalness belongs to all of us, but we also invented rock and roll. By the by, nobody complained when Doodle Bug and ‘em from Digable Planets rocked the same style, so hey.

This style works for me because it filters out all the superficial types from getting into my world only to bother and cause all sorts of madness. Women, truly soulful women, respond nicely to this vibe. Trust.

i will believe there is nothing ‘wrong’ with ‘nappy’ hair the day beyonce, ciara and rihanna wear their natural (unpermed, just like they were born with) hair onstage or on a red carpet. how long do you think i’ll wait??

Why do you need them to tell you there’s nothing wrong with natural hair? If they want to rock the bone straight, they can rock the bone straight. That’s their choice. It doesn’t make natural hair less beautiful because they don’t wear their hair that way. We are way too busy looking to hollywood and everywhere else to validate the way we wear our hair as if only hollywood’s opinion on what is beautiful is the only one that matters. Damn that! My kinky, coily hair is beautiful because I believe it to be so. Anyone who doesn’t like it can kick rocks and pound sand. Time to stop perpetuating the self-loathing, people.
