If you feel that you have to go through your man’s cell phone, you probably shouldn’t be with him. On he other hand, if your man starts bringing his phone into the bathroom while he’s taking a shower, sleeping with in it his pocket, blah blah blah you should be concerned.

I have mixed feelings on this. If you are in any relationship, trust is paramount and if there is a lack of it, you should not be in that situation. I generally do not advocate going through your man’s things.

HOWEVER, if ‘suspect’ things arise on a regular basis and you feel that you need proof for yourself in order to end the relationship, I definitely say seek and you shall find… I have done this in a few serious relationships and continue to THANK GOD for what I found, it allowed me to keep it moving without ever looking back!

Of course it’s okay…as long as you don’t get caught…and if you see something that’s not right…tell him….better you knowing than not knowing…

No, it’s not cool… The only reason a woman would have an urge to look through her man’s phone is if she’s suspicious. If you have a suspicion, then u two probably don’t need to be together in the first place.

I have never went through any of my man’s (past and present) things…. Although I didn’t always 100% trust them, I trusted in the “what you do in the dark will come out in the light.”

Additionally, if you go looking through someone’s things, u must be prepared for what you might find. 90% of the time, we are not.

If you find something, what are you gonna do with it anyway? Ask him about it, then he’ll probably do nothing but lie.

I’d have to say no — unless you’re a paid sleuth who was hired on behalf of someone else, I think it’s going over the line to search a man’s e-mail and phone records. As someone else mentioned, trust is paramount in a relationship, and if you feel that step has to be taken, it’s time to move on to a healthier situation.

I heard a story through a friend about a sista whose boyfriend (they lived together at the time) stayed up all night one instance to hack into her e-mail because he suspected her of cheating. She wound up staying with him, but they later broke up because she discovered he was cheating. Those types of scenarios are always messy and should be avoided at all costs, IMHO.

And my opinion would change about a man who perused through my personal accounts as well. It’s not an issue of whether or not I have something to hide, that’s a violation of privacy and an indication of possibly deeper personal issues.

You shouldn’t have to do all that, but I guess if you suspect something you may have to.

I’m 25 this summer, and for YEARS I’ve had the mindset that if I’m in a relationship (not marriage), that we shouldn’t have anything to hide from each other. So I’ve snooped, sometimes with reason, sometimes with no reason. Each time, I found something. Me and the bf have fought, he’s screamed “STOP GOIN THRU MY F&%$@IN PHONE” and I’ve yelled “IT SHOULDN’T BE S$#@#T IN THERE FOR ME TO SEE”. “If you not hiding nothing you shouldn’t have a problem, I have no problem with you going through mine, so why you bugging”. All have been my responses and rationales, and his whole thing has been, it’s MY phone, I need MY privacy. Until we’re married, I’ve vowed never to touch my mans personal things again. I’ve awaken to his phone vibrating (yes, vibrating) in the middle of the night…20 year old me would have woke him up and clowned, “WHO THE F#$@K IS CALLING YOU AT 2AM!?!?! I KNO YO NI66A’S KNO YOU GOT A GRIRL AND THEY AINT STUPID!”…now I roll over and go back to sleep. After the first time I snooped and acused a bf of what I found, we fought, kissed and made up, and I NEVER saw the phone again! TRUST gone on my part. The first time I ignored a “suspicious” phone call, I was pleasently surprised when I went to grease my man’s scalp the next day and he (unaware of my rooming eyes) went though his call log, and I saw that it was nothing for me to be worried about. So turning the blind eye and stepping out on faith and TRUST works! I know this first hand.

I don’t feel like I’m being naive, not to the least, I’ve learned that NOTHING comes from snooping but hurt feelings and lies.

I’ve been with my husband since my early twenties and I have to admit I checked his, then, pager quite frequently. Yep, then I moved on to the phone. I guess I was insecure then. He used to get so mad. Now that I’m in my my thirties, I’m like “cheat if you want, I will leave and not look back!” I now rarely check his things unless he’s been acting extremely strange. But I definitely reserve the right to check whenever I want.
