Bindi Irwin Wins “Dancing With The Stars”

The late Steve Irwin’s daughter took home the Mirror Ball trophy Tuesday during the season finale of “Dancing With The Stars.”

Bindi Irwin, 17, wowed judges alongside her partner Derek Hough with a dance dedicated to her Crocodile Hunter father.

USA Today reports:

An hour after winning Season 21 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, Bindi Irwin seemed to still be absorbing her feat.

As she posed for her umpteenth victory picture, pro partner Derek Hough lifted his mirrorball trophy in exultation. “Awesome!” he said, looking at her raise her trophy. “Heavy, isn’t it?”

The 17-year-old Australian laughed deeply, an emotional blend of joy and relief. Then, she blurted out the reality: “Oh, my God! We won!”

That they did, as Irwin and six-time winner Hough, Dancing’s all-time champ, triumphed over runners-up Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess and third-place finishers Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold during Tuesday’s two-hour finale.

After a Season 21 victory that many had been predicting, Irwin and Hough, standing ankle-deep in metallic-colored confetti, talked about the win.

Irwin, daughter of the late wildlife expert and Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, acknowledged how dramatically her life had changed in the few months since she finished a crocodile-research trip in Australia and traveled to Hollywood for the dance competition.

“I never knew I would learn so much about rhinestones and glitter and high heels,” she joked, before getting serious. “The most special part of this experience is to really be able to grow and touch on parts of my life that I never thought I would really go to and be able to share my journey and story with so many others.”

Congrats to Bindi!
