Before Michael Jackson’s passing, Chris Brown, his “supposed” heir to the pop throne, was primed and ready to step into MJ’s spot. But when news of the scandal involving Rihanna hit the net, Chris Brown’s star immediately faded. Would a tribute to the “King of Pop” by Chris Brown be the catalyst for a major comeback? Flip the lid for more

  • lani3000

    good question. I say, somewhat.

  • * i am royalty *

I THINK THEY SHOULD LET HIM DO IT!

  • http://www.twitter.com/IHearMusique Re—>I live in Bilbo Baggin’s shirt pocket.

    According to my memory file…

    *flipping through file cabinets*

…nope. It’s not here. Michael never beat on women.

  • JB 6 more months until Christmas

Everyone may not like him, but Chris Brown is the only one who could do a dancing tribute to MJ.

  • Kim

Chris mentioned that “the people hating on me have always hated on me”

Correction, I’d only seen him a couple of times on award show and my only impression was that he was a talented, handsome young individual.

The fact that this young man made that statement shows that he is truly ignorant with regards to his actions and has no remorse. So Mr Breezy we are not “hating” on you, we are disgusted by your actions and subsequent response.

  • nobody cares

i think so. it would focus us on this man’s talent and remind people that EVERYONE makes mistakes and deserves redemption. for all the shyt that went down in MJ’s life, his music, talent, and effect as a musician and icon will outshine it all.

  • DrmKpr

if there is a mj tribute on the bet awards the only person that should do it is chris… i know folks are hella pissed at him right now but chris should be the one doing the tribute… hell during his concerts chris had a whole section where he literally had a tribute to mike… mike is the reason there is a chris or any other singing/dancing artist out there now…

  • rebecca

ya chris would be the perfect fit…..

  • scherriea

I SAID THE EXACT SAME THING TO MY HUSBAND LAST NITE ABOUT THIS BEING CHRIS’ OPPORTUNITY TO REDEEM HIS IMAGE..I KNOW THIS SOUNDS CRAZY..BUT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT SEEMS TO THINK THAT CHRIS IS THE ONLY PERSON THAT CAN DO A GREAT MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTE!

  • Back On My Swag

No one person can really do a tribute to MJ…no one is that talented. I think Chris Brown, Usher and Ginuwine(yes G has the MJ/James Brown moves) should do it together….

    Now that would be HOTT…

  • DARKAQUA

(knocking on CHRIS BREEZY door) “ITS TIME…DON’T F*CK IT UP!”

SORRY IF I MAKE MANY FELLOW POSTER UPSET…BUT LET’S ME REAL…CHRIS BROWN IS THE ONLY BLACK MALE ENTERTAINER OUT NOW THAT CAN DO A MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTE JUSTICE…SORRY ITS THE TRUTH!!

AND YOU BEST BELIEVE WITH ALL THAT BOY JUST WENT THROUGH….IT WOULD BE A TRIBUTE WE WON’T FORGET….THAT DAMN BOY WOULD DANCE HIS SOUL AWAY ON THE STAGE

  • Ayeyoneek

yes they should let him do it!
    we love u chris!
I cnt believe some of yall still hating him
    after what happened,.
    good googly moogly!
    everyone make mistakes,
leave da past in the dust,& focus on the present&future

people also talked about about&hated MJ
callin child molester, talkin bout his nose&skin
& bet dem same people was sad as hell yesturday

if Chris died tomorrow, will u guys do da same?

plus u guys dnt even know wat the hell happened
dnt be quick to judge people!

  • JRa

Ginuwine does MJ dance moves the best..i know he hasnt made real good music since the late 90′s but he could dance way better than breezy. my opinion.

  • 303

shame on that monster tryna use a tragedy like this to revive his career – his career is so over –
i hope he is not involve in anything that has to with michael career –
tibute to MJ should be done
    by
    neo
    justin timberlake
    usher
    not that punk chris brown

  • TARA

MJ may not have ever hit women, but he was accused of worse things. so dont judge Chris Brown for what he was accused of or what he has done..they have both settled cases before in the past. and yes, I think Chris would do MJ justice, may he rest in peace.

  • JRa

    @ ayeyoneek

if chris brown died (which i would never wish upon),wouldnt affect me at all.. MJ on the other hand is a legend, an icon that i grew up with. those two are not comparable.

  • LOLO

Regardless of Chris’s personal problems.. he’s really talented.. most people can’t deny that… I think Chris would be a good fit to do a dancing tribute to Michael Jackson. Ofcourse no one will ever be like Mike, but I think CB would do it justice.

  • http://bossip E.F. Hutton Says…

    @Scherriea…you’re not the only one…
@DARKAQUA…the energy and emotion would be fitting…

  • http://www.myspace.com/mzpayne_11 Smoovee Sayz

    @ LOLO…
    exactly.

  • KayKay

I don’t think we need to be comparing the 2. Michael was and wil always be great. CB, he has the potential.

    @JRa

Ginuwine? Come on!!!!!! I’d go with Usher berfore him!!!

  • KayKay

And Michael has been around for DECADES! I think people need to start seperating the personal life and the busniess. Stick with what you know, there MUSIC!!!

  • S.M

I HOPE HE DOES IT!!! no better choice

  • S.M

    u sooo right kaykay

  • mickysweets

CHRIS BROWN WOULD NEVER BE MICHAEL AND CHRIS DOESN’T EVEN DO POP HE JUST DANCES LIKE AN AZZ. HE IS A CONVICTED FELON IT WOULD BE A DISGRACE TO HAVE HIM HONOUR MICHAEL. SMH TO PEOPPLE WHO EVEN WOULD CONSIDER HIM.

THERE ARE ALOT OF YOUNG BOYS ON YOUTUBE DANCING THERE AZZ OFF AND WAITING TO TAKE THIS CRIMINALS’ SPOT. FACK A CHRIS BROWN

  • Plastic007

i think he will b good to do this ….. live love life proceed progress

  • Miss Perfect

At the title of this article i say – Possibly. I mean people do seem to become more forgiving after someone’s death. And CB does have alot of talent. Am i saying he’s the next MJ…Idk possibly. MJ had alot of controversy (after astronomical success of course) But he was very much beloved. So idk maybe chris can redeem himself at an award show or something

  • optimistic26

RIP to Michael Jackson. He was Chris Brown’s Biggest inspiration. There is a petition on twitter for people to sign for CB to perfrom a tribute performance at the BET Awards. Everyone sign it we just might get to see CB peform like one of the greatest performers in the world (MJ). To remember that its all about great performing, great music and living your life!

    http://twitition.com/vhhj3

  • http://bossip E.F. Hutton Says…

    Perez…is that you?

  • pmd

DEFINITELY!!! MY FAMILY SAID THE SAME THING YESTERDAY. AS SOON AS MIKE PASSED WE ALL AGREED THAT BET HAS TO HAVE CHRIS PERFORM. I LIKE USHER BUT LET’S FACE IT…CHRIS IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN REALLY PULL IT OFF!!!!!!!!! IT WOULD SEEM INCOMPLETE WITHOUT CHRIS.

  • Lady D

I love and will always love Michael! I think Chris is the one person who can do a TRIBUTE not an IMPERSONATION (people seem to be getting the two mixed up) of Mike. You can tell from the world music awards, that Chris is passionate about what Micahel contributed to the game. People are using Chris’ personal life as a reason for him not to do something like this… Isn’t Michael’s personal life dramatic too??? So when does judgement stop? So a man who had his personal life on blast can’t do a tribute to someone who had his personal life on blast too??? I say he should do it. I wish him well.

  • KayKay

    @Voice

    Go kiss your own ass!!

  • http://bossip E.F. Hutton Says…

Some of these same people flacking the idea of Chris doing a tribute are the same one’s that harboured hate in their words about Michael after those “bogus” accusations…Now that he’s past…everyone wants to rally around the the good that Michael was known for…but you probably couldn’t get them to say TWO good things about him before yesterday…Now they’re chomping on Chris…

EVERY one of Chris’ fans knew he was An MJ Fanatic…If he wants to do it…He’ll do it like no other…

  • Angel 09

Having Chris Brown do a tribute for MJ would be an insult to MJ’s legacy. Chris might be a good dancer but Chris’ name has come to be associated with domestic violence and I think MJ deserves to have a artist whose reputation is highly respected to perform a tribute to him.

  • dayg715

sorry, Usher is the only one qualified to do a tribute to The King Of Pop. Chris hasn’t accomplished half of what Usher has as of yet.

  • Michael_Jackson_RIP

    Chris,Usher,Ne – Yo they’re all Jackson imposters.

  • http://yahoo hotcakes

I think he should do it and give it has all. He should be given another chance to show the world that he is not a monster. I’m with u all the way Chris. RIP MJ

  • Miss Perfect

    @Angel 09

Honestly MJ’s name was surrounded by alot of controversy, the details to which we all are forgetting in this time of his death. I dont feel that Chris Brown would disgrace MJ, If anything MJ wud understand how Chris feels having his life in the spotlight and being beaten by the media for money and magazine covers. Chris is really the only one suited 2 take it on and if u look past his personal life which your obviously doing for MJ then u shud see that CB would do a great job.

  • mickysweets

    FACK CHRIS BROWN

  • facefacts

LOL nope cuz if you look at Usher, neyo, and Justin timberlake they are all influenced by what Michael did so Chris brown would not make it special!!!!

  • LuV Me

yes i think he is tha only person that wud b tha best for it. despite my feelns on his actions.. and i sho do membr that episode of MTV my super “18″ i think that was tha title, and he got tha call frm mike wishn em happy bday..

  • stop it

No. Too soon. There is enough controversy surrounding M.J. Lets not pile CB’s ish’ on him too. Micheal Jackson: Often imitated(CHRIS BROWN/USHER/JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE/NEYO/GINUINE ETC…)But never duplicated. His shoes will never be able to be filled because it is a different world. That kind of success is not even attainable anymore. All of these artist are great in their own right but That “KING OF POP) crown is going to be buried on the head of Micheal Jackson. Had Chris Brown kept his hands, feet, and all objects to himself, maybe it would have been fitting to allow him that honor but i think it would be in extremely bad taste rigt now, just a few days after pleading guilty for abuse. They need to call up Wade Robson and let him do a dancing tribute. He knew Micheal personally and he’s been doing Micheal’s moves since he was a kid in Australia.

  • http://www.sassytrends.blogspot.com Sassy

No one can take the place of Wacko Jacko…
    Chris Brown my fat arse!
You can never compare him to MJ… charcter wise and otherwise…

  • ja nae nae (: RIP MJ

CB WILL NEVER BE THE “KING” OF POP BESIDES EVERTHING ELSE THAT HAS HAPPENED TO CB HE CAN TRY AND I SED TRY TO BE THE “PRINCE” BUT CB WILL NEVER AND I REPEAT NEVER MATCH OR COME CLOSE TO NEW AGE MJ STEEZ NEVER IN A LIFE TIME LETS JUST GET THAT STRAIGHT BUT CB HAS KINDA PERFECTED MJ’S MOVES A TAD BUT GUESS WHO MJ’S MOVES CAME FROM? MJ!

  • http://bossip E.F. Hutton Says…

Don’t lose site of what the Headline said…TRIBUTE…

No one is trying to replace Michael Jackson or take his place…Micheal honed his craft for almost 4 decades…and gave FULL credit to James Brown..and despite the angst over his head…who did they call on to present James Brown with his cape…Michael Jackson…

Chris gives credit to Michael Jackson…and if he is chosen…He should do it…and do it like no other could…

  • http://bossip E.F. Hutton Says…

    You said it Lady D…

Most of the naysayers on here knockin Chris are probably convicted felons themselves…or know someone that is…

  • http://www.myspace.com/mzpayne_11 Smoovee Sayz

    Let Michael Jackson’s family decide.

  • Sim1

A tribute would look phony and ill timed on his part. The way ppl feel about him right now theres nothing he can do that wont look personally motivated. He needs to lay in cut til this blows over.

  • http://www.myspace.com/mzpayne_11 Smoovee Sayz

    @ Jessica…

    so on point.

  • KayKay

    Lol @ Moving on

  • N.A.M.B.L.A.

He was a true pioneer and inspiration to all of us at N.A.M.B.L.A.. Michael’s ability to attract and seduce some of our most coveted idols like Corey Haims, MacCauley Culkin and a host of other young pre-pubescent morsels was a true testament to his Pied Piper of Hamlin like qualities. He will truly be missed. RIP!

  • KayKay

The post says “tribute” do ya’ll know what that means? They are honoring his life, Micahel has been through a lot and so has Chris. Stop all the judging, It’s MUSIC for God’s sake!!!

  • F**ck NO!

Hell no!! Why try to use this tragedy to try to boost up this dumb kids life. This douche bag chose to beat his girlfriend and just because he can dance (like so many other MJ wannabe’s) doesn’t mean that he can use this creative arts’ death as a catalyst to bring himself some fame. What a f@cking shame to try to even suggest that he should or could even begin to think that he could do that. MJ was a humble loving creature who wasn’t understood by many people this monster is a punk kid who wishes he had 1/4 the talent that Mike had.

  • 360

You actually think “Chris Brown” can replace Michael Jackson? How disrespectful! Oh, while people are trying to figure out who can replace Michael Jackson, the answer is…

    NOBODY!

  • 360

The next Michael Jackson has to be someone special. Not Usher, not Chris Brown, not Ne-Yo. Someone with their own style that reminds you of MJ. Someone like…

  • Lady D

OMG… It’s a damn shame that people don’t know what a TRIBUTE is!!!

    Tribute:
    1. Wealth, praise or honor one party gives to another as a sign of respect or, as was often case in historical contexts, of submission or allegiance.

    2. Something given, done, or said, as a gift, testimonial, etc., that shows gratitude, respect, honor, or praise

Now that the definition is there, please quit getting it twisted and thinking that people are trying to find a new Mike, trying to be Michael, or trying to replace Mike.

  • http://bossip E.F. Hutton Says…

    @Lady D…

It’s not just the fans putting celebrities on pedestals…It’s just a few blogger that DAILY troll the gossip sites for post on CHRIS BROWN…I’ll promise you it’s only one or two that keep changing their name and egging on the madness.

And like you said…the others view celebrities as “idol” figures (and yes…they worship them)…

And like anything you sit up on a pedistal, when it gets knocked over it breaks…so then they do what…go out and find another “idol” to put on that pedistal…

Haven’t they ever heard of glue?…smh

  • 360

God doesn’t bless people who have sins behind them, duh!

Only the Devil calls the truth bullshit.

  • F**ck NO!

@JRa you are so on point! This offends the hell out of me also! Who cares about a Chris Brown! His girlfriend beating a@@! He could only wish to be as humble and talented as Michael. NO ONE can replace MJ. His career spans decades he had it on lock when he was 5! So many people have tried to come out being the next MJ but they all had to face the facts that he could never have his crown taken! The were all just walking in his shadow while he was Moon Walking right on to the top!

  • Lady Shady

Nope…there’s other black boys that can moonwalk.

  • LOLO

    @ F**ck NO!
No one ever said he would be replacing MJ.. all they said is that he might do a tribute to MJ’s life… which is very fitting with someone with the talents that Chris has.

  • anissa1024

the bet awards are right around the corner … they would be some plum azz fools not to have usher, justin and chris to do a tribute to mj … first justin would start it off with off the wall, then usher should do billie jean, then have the big surprise be chris doing bad … that mess would be off the chain!

  • Ara

    H*ll to the naw!!!!!!!!
Chris Brown is no Michael Jackson, let me say that again, CHRIS BROWN IS NO MICHAEL JACKSON!!

  • Reign

Chris Brown would be the absolute PERFECT person to play the role of Michael Jackson. Don’t make him pay for life. It is what it is…the young man is NOT a monster

  • Lady D

    E.F. Hutton Says…

    EXACTLY!!!

  • Ebo223

to all the negative people, yall are looking at the small picture. We all know Chris messed up and we know he is eating every bit of that situation. But there is NO ONE entertainer in the industry that can dance like Michael other the Chris Brown and yall know it. Shut the hell up and move on. Chris do your thing he still have to continue on with his career like others. He cant hide under a rock forever….

    I agree %100

  • F**ck NO!

Just my own opinion and like an a@@ hole we all got one so…in MY OWN opinion I could give a f@ck about a Chris Breezy or what ever the hell you call him! He can breeze his a@@ on to his community service. And at this moment this is how I feel so F**ck NO IS my name for this post.

  • samech

he should do it…….he’s gonna do it…….and we will love him for it…….point _____(blank).

  • http://bossip Sheena

Vitteligo is a REAL skin condition. Whatever step he took to even out his complexion should not be made mockery of…People suffer from the ridicule associated with it on the DAILY!

And maybe there’s reason for the “idea” that he wanted to distance himself. BUT your completely blowing off allegations of child molestation like its a trip to the nail shop. It’s obvious you have issues with black men. Maybe you speak FROM EXPERIENCE?

  • Daphne

I would like 2 see Chris & Usher perform. I think that they would be perfect to represent his influence in current popular music, BUT, does that mean that JT should be included as well?

  • LOLO

This whole hating Chris Brown thing is getting old. “Forgiveness is to set a prisoner free, and to realize the prisoner was you.” -Corrie Ten Boom… Peoples negativity is not hurting Chris, its hurting themselves. Just pray he learned his lesson and let him be on his way. And i mean this not only towards Chris, but towards everbody.

  • Freedom of Speech

@The Luscious♥Ms. Sugar Walls In this Piece♥ representing STL-THEY NEED TO LEAVE CHRIS ALONE!!!

  • yvonne

DESPITE WHATS GOIN ON IN CHRIS PERSONAL LIFE HE WOULD BE THE BEST ONE TO PICK FOR A MJ TRIBUTE. USHER WOULD BE OK 2 BUT HONESTLY I HAVENT SEEN HIM DO A REALLY GREAT PERFORMCE SINCE HIS CONFESSIONS ALBUM.

  • Lady D

    Freedom of Speech…

If you’re a guy, will you marry me??? LOL…

On a serious note, I couldn’t agree with you more.

  • high Priestess

hell no. Chris Brown is talented but he’s no Michael Jackson. Do you see people running around imitating Chris Brown moves? No. He’s very very good at what he does but he isn’t ground breaking like Michael was. There’s just NO comparison

  • Sharie

YES!!!!PLZ DO IT CHRIS! I DONT CARE ABOUT THE PAST. LET’S FOCUS ON THE PRESENT. I THINK HE IS THE ONLY ONE RIGHT NOW THAT IS EVEN COME CLOSE TO PAYING TRIBUTE TO MJ

  • http://bossip E.F. Hutton Says…

Usher is good at what he does…but the good thing about Usher is he’s been out for a while and he has developed his own style…He would be a good choice…

But…Chris Brown is fresh on the scene and has not quite developed his own presence…But his presence is STRONG…and his inspiration still come thru when he’s performing on stage…and it wreaks of him being inspired by Michael Jackson…

  • AJ

I say let him do it. Chris has already done a Thriller tribute at the 2006 VMA and he did a James Brown tribute at the 2007 Grammys which both received raved reviews. This tribute will be the ultimate finale to the legacy of Michael Jackson. I cannot think of any one who could do it better besides the man himself may he rest in peace.

  • Freedom of Speech

@Lady D-I would if I was a man!!lol But, I’m a woman in a relationship. I’m tired of all the negativity and dumb sh!it!!! Everyone knows how it feel to hurt and people should be tired of the b.s.. It’s time time uplift each other and enjoy life before our time is up.I’m tired of the Willie Lynch mentality. TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED!

  • Mz Soulful

Some of you people need to chill the hell out! I’ve never seen so many judgmental people in one place in my life. If any of you have never committed a sin please raise your hand so we can all look at a boldface liar! Chris Brown is human, just like Michael is human. Chris would be the perfect person to do a tribute to Michael. He would be doing a TRIBUTE not replacing Michael. Some of you people need to read instead of letting your hatred for a person you don’t even know fuel your foolish tirades. Grow up, if you’ve ever been forgiven for the wrongs you’ve done then you need to be grateful of God’s mercy and forgive Chris. At the end of the day he only needs forgiveness from Rihanna and God.

  • yvonne

IF PEOPLE CAN LOOK PAST MJS PAST WITH BEING ACCUSED OF CHILD MOSLESTATION TWICE AND LOVE HIM FOR HIS TALENT WHY CANT WE DO THE SAME FOR CHRIS? WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LOVING MJ DESPITE OF HIS FLAWS AND DOIN THE SAME FOR CHRIS? CAN SOMEONE PLZ EXPLAIN!

  • Mz Soulful

@Yvonne, People only want forgiveness when they’ve done wrong. Most people only have mercy for themselves which is why we we as humans will never evolve beyond ourselves if we never think beyond ourselves.

  • Ne-Ne aka iB@S

what about omarion..he can dance too

  • Redd Foxxx (Pretty Wings)

    @ Freedom of Speech

    I cosign!!

  • Mz Soulful

    Liberace Jones

Grow up. Some people believe in giving others chances. Most of the people have no problem condemning Chris while looking past Michael’s past indiscretions. Neither man is perfect. I support Chris and his career because I believe in Karma. What you wish on other people will surely come back to you. My heart goes out to the Jackson family May God be with you at this time.

  • No!

Forgiving doesn’t mean you have to promote such people (and behavior) like Chris Brown!!!

  • http://bossip Shelly

Gezz, my typos were bad. Never type while at work!

  • Allison Mae

@ Ne-Ne aka iB@S – Yes, Omarion is a GREAT dancer!!! Better than Chris and Usher in my opinion.

  • highasaneagleyadig

where r mi comments… not feelin this

  • yvonne

@Ms Soulful, Amen I agree 100%. I dont understand how people can hold so much hate in their hearts for someone they dont even know. I think when a person can c their flaws and c gods grace and mercy in thier lives they r less likely 2 judge others for their mistakes.

  • highasaneagleyadig

    @Re

    According to my memory file…

    *flipping through file cabinets*

…nope. It’s not here. Michael never beat on women.
    _______________________________________________

    Lol.. I’m Co-signing most definitely

  • LOLO

@ NO! Your right… you dont have to promote him… but you also don’t have to tear this kid down. Btw. I dont promote his actions, but i just try to be understanding of what he’s going through. Instead of throwing cuss words his way, try words of encouragement instead.

  • Bigmamaj

CHRIS BROWN will be the only one to PULL this OFF!! im sorry but USHER is old and cannot dance like he used to… NE YO and that HAT LORD NO and he CANNOT DANECE AT ALL… Lloyd I DONT think he has that Spark like MJ HAD… THE ONLY one is CHRIS BREZZZYYYYYY i think he will TAKE the BET SHOW if allowed to do this.

  • Freedom of Speech

    @Lady D-WELL, SAID SISTA!

  • MsRitababie

YES Chris Should do it NO USHER PLZE HE CAN’T MOVE LIKE CHRIS does he 2 old now

  • Annie

I thought that to myself this morning. Chris is the perfect choice for a Michael Jackson tribute. A Michael tribute wouldn’t be one without Chris Brown. If I was his manager I would’ve been working my butt off to get him that performance. I think it would redeem him somewhat.

  • ME

First of all, WE as parents should be the immediate role models for our children, and stop leaving it up to BET and MTV to raise them……if more of this were to take place, it wouldnt matter what famous people did because we will have raised our children to know better, PEOPLE are human, and we all make mistakes…..Chris Brown is no exception, he is a child and he desreves a chance to redeem himself, and there is no denying the fact that he is talented, so I say instead of tearing this young man down, damn, black people, encourage him, we all have needed forgiveness at one point or another.

  • ME

I THINK IT WOUKD BE A GOOD START FOR CHRIS…OF COURSE IT WNT MAKE UP FOR WAT HE DID, BUT A GOOD START

  • ME==THE OTHER ME

DIDTN KNOW SOMEONE HAD THE SCREEN NAME…MY BAD

  • Kelly21

This is what Chris Brown said about MJ. Even Chris said there will never be another MJ… so all this hating on CB need to stop. No one is perfect and we all know MJ wasn’t. You see all the news stations talk about my money problem and his pass. Just like someone said early in a comment we only know what the press say and not the truth. No one was in the car with them so we don’t know what happen. Its a tribute people….. Chris Brown: “Michael Jackson is the reason why I do music and why I am an entertainer. I am devastated by this great loss, and I will continue to be humbled and inspired by his legacy. My prayers are with his family. Michael will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. He’s the greatest… the best ever. No one will ever be better. ”

  • Mz Soulful

I agree whoever said Ginuwine must be on that stuff. Maybe in 97 but not in 09! Usher maybe if he was a little younger, Omarion can dance but not like Chris. Ne-yo’s voice is more closly aligned with Michael’s. But I think Chris deserves his chance to pay homage to a man who paved the way for him.

  • KayKay

WOW, I wonder if you people know that hatred and grudges are not good for your heart. I bet if MJ was still alive and they decided to honor him at an award show CB would be at the top of the list!! And everyone who says it aint so not it is so. He can relate to his problems just like he had some. It trip me out how when someone dies they make them out to be this great person. I don’t know if MJ did anything to anyone, but I do know how to be mature and look past that and still love him and his music. And the same for CB! Get a grip cruel world. Iggnorance is bliss….

  • ME

    @ ME==THE OTHER ME
Is quite alright…LOL, I am not one of those people will start world war iii with you up in here. Be blessed!

  • LOLO

    @ highasangelyadig
Huhh… here we go again with the negativity. I cant stand it when people go out of their way to find others flaws. You seriously have issues. But I’ll pray for you. Again… everyone on this post agrees there is no replacing MJ. I’ll post this quote again:

“Forgiveness is to set a prisoner free, and to realize the prisoner was you.” -Corrie Ten Boom

You, my friend, need to be set free

  • Jinny

IS THIS A JOKE? PLEASE DON’T OFFEND MICAHEL JACKSON. NO ONE CAN TOP OR MAKE A TRIBUTE ESPECIALLY CHRIS BROWN FA REAL I WOULD HATE TO SEE THIS HAPPEN.

  • Melissa

It’s funny cause Day 26 is asking to do a tribute of the Jackson 5 and I immediately said “They aint good enough”! But when Chris was brought into the picture I said he was perfect for the dancing! We have seen Chris re inact MJ and he has the stage presence, energy, and the dance moves like MJ! No other dancer can do it justice! Omarion aint that good in dancing as chris and Ginuwine is too old to give us that energy! Chris is perfect pick!

  • ME

Also, I really dont think anyone expects Chris to hold Mikes title, I am pretty sure this topic was whether or not Chris should do a tribute….(SMH) and yall are arguing about something that wasnt even the case…I see how easy it is for society to confuse us, just give us something to read….do better my people, please!

  • highasaneagleyadig

    @Kelly21

This is what Chris Brown said about MJ. Even Chris said there will never be another MJ… so all this hating on CB need to stop. No one is perfect and we all know MJ wasn’t. I am devastated by this great loss, and I will continue to be humbled and inspired by his legacy. My prayers are with his family. Michael will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. He’s the greatest… the best ever. No one will ever be better. ”

Now you know Chris did not write that… He is not smart enough… LOL @ you believing he did… his grandma did… ROTFLMAO

  • ThatMixedChick!

C’mon, the theme for Chris Brown’s 18th birthday party was Michael Jackson’s off the wall. Nobody in the game had as more respect for MJ than him. Let Breezy have this.

  • Tamesa

I don’t want Chris Brown to do the tribute to MJ, I’d would much prefer Usher to do it! While Chris can dance I don’t think he sings all that well…

  • Spare Me

Ummm hell NO! I want Chris to go away for a while or apologize for letting down the little girls who love(d) him and are still confused. His fanbase is mostly young girls and he needs to humble himself and show appreciation. The fact that he thinks people are hating on him shows how childish and immature he is. I honestly never gave him a thought before he hit Rhianna. No hate at all… but now I have no respect for him – less now because he doesn’t think it’s necessary to make some kind of statement. I don’t see Chris as being in the same league as MJ – FYI Michael Jackson was not a convicted FELON, Chris is…

  • UHHH

f*ck chris brown ! if the BET awards do a tribute to mj, his family should be up there talking, that’s it. NO dumbass loser chris brown dancing, he’s the last person i would want to see up there. I’d rather see ne-yo lol.

Nobody is saying what CB did is right. We are not around him 24/7 so we don’t know if he is changing or not. I don’t own a CB or Rhianna cd, but both have some good songs. Everyone is so down on CB and all up in arms over Rhianna.. She is not making any changes. She still hitting the clubs and in the light. I don’t see her tell young girl what CB did is wrong…. Its like she dont care. I’ve never been hit and if i was i would not be walking around like everything is all good. They guy would pay for what he did and i would be talking about it and make sure no one else would be in that situation. I don’t see Rhianna do that.

  • DearGod

Chris should do a tribute..he’s the only one left to do it. And after his Thriller tribute, he definately showed everyone he could do it. Shut up and let him sing.

I wonder if folks would be so quick to “let it go” if CB beat up their daughter, sister, mother, auntie….I just saying. The bigger crime would be to have 2 young people’s lives ruined over a mistake albeit a big one. To the question posted, I like the idea previously stated of having, Chris Brown, Usher and Ginuwine to a joint tribute. They all borrowed heavily from Michael Jackson. Speaking of Usher, he called into the Donnie Simpson show this AM from Paris. He was so moved by MJ’s death, that he could hardly complete the interview. I love his music, and was pulling for MJ to do one hell of a come back. We’ll surely miss him….rest in peace.

  • whateva!!!

By no means do I think Chris Brown can ever replace Michael Jackson, he is just the only one right now who can perform like Michael. Lets not make this about Chris and bring his scandals into this. This moment should be about celebrating Michael’s life and accomplishments. BTW I’m not some young girl who is blinded by Chris’s wrongdoings, I just want to see a memorable tribute to a legend.

If people despise Chris Brown SOO MUCH, why come into feeder post EVERY DAY and rehash the what ifs and all. If you are a former domestic violence victim or if you are still in a violent relationship and want to get out, call the NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HOTLINE AND GET HELP!

Or, why not arrange a community service outreach and formally invite Chris Brown to come and face you and your community and speak about the lesson that he is trying to learn! Now that would be a contructive way of making him pay for beating up what could have been your mother, sister or daughter. Instead of posing as “Keyboard Gangsters” on the prowl for his name in blogs EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!

    MrsT_n_DC,

I don’t condone what Chris did. If it were me or if I had a daughter that it happened to, I’d be pissed!!! I probably would forgive and MOVE ON WITH MY LIFE. Not try to stop his from progressing. People like him need help obviously. This is a part of the reason black men are stuck in one pool of BS. It’s because if they make a mistake, people treat them like they are nothing more than the mistake they made. It’s like people preach redemption and rehabilitation all the time, but don’t want to deliver. I hated to see what happened with him and Rihanna. At the same time, if I were abused, I’d just simply move on with MY life. Not try to stop every move he tries to make. Yeah he deserves to be punished, but to just not be able to do ANYTHING because the public doesn’t approve of him is gay. I know if I were in his shoes, I’d learn from my mistake, and move the hell on. The show doesn’t stop with one mistake… It starts when people are willing to learn from their mistakes.

  • Kelly21

I have to agree with someone earlier/Rihanna is NOT ready to address a crowd/nor will she have to redeem herself from this situation. It would have been real nice if her people would have put it out there that she opted for counseling to try to heal herself and make herself more aware of how to identify an abuser. Her post fight actions (to me) don’t qualify her to address a crowd of her peers. Especially since her attorney speaks up for her in objection to keeping her “abuser” away from her. (and the term “abuser” if referenced as alleged).

It is up to parents to teach their girls/boys that love, passion and affection do not include them getting hit, biten or choked (supposedly). Parents are the ones that have to teach their children that.
Not a celebrity. Not a teacher. Not a talkshow.

My earlier comment was directed at those antiChris people who enter blogs with him in the title and spout of about Domestic Violence and belittle the people who are willing to forgive Chris Brown and give him a chance to redeem himself. It really makes you wonder if these same people stand up and speak out in their communities when people are abused or violated. Or if they just flex their power “incognito”…for all we know they are being abused or are abusing someone right now…and bashing Chris Brown with their way of masking their own pain or actions…

  • Lady D

    jasmineT

Yep… I bet some of these people saying Chris doesn’t deserve to do a tribute, are probably some of the same ones who were disgusted and judgemental when Michael was going through all that child molestation drama.

The people that talk sh*t about Chris Brown has never been to his concert. Michael Jackson had two lives one he was a great entertainer, the other he slept with little boys and we forgave him. Chris Brown has two lives one he is a great entertainer and can dance like MJ and the other life he beat Rihannna A$$.

  • bluekid

How is it you will and can forgive a 40 year old man sleeping with young boys but we can not forgive a man from beating his GFF A$$ it who wanted to go back to him. You guys are haters, the same people who hated MJ.

MJ family what can they say about Chris Brown, all the dirty that family has in his closet, how can you guys respect a man who sleeps with other people small children. i think the forgiving of mj and not cb is a bit of favoritism

  • bluekid

@Spare Me regardless he admitted of sleeping with children at the age of 45, a grown man should not be sleeping with children. You right there is no comparison because small children are not consenting adults Rihanna was. Look for the dirt to come out on JM in a few more weeks. Yea people say they love him now, I remember when all of American want to beat his A$$ back in 1994 treating worst than what they are treating CB right now. The little boys will come out now that he is dead and the books will be about a sick MJ! That is going to be a sad day even for me because I like MJ alot.

  • yeah right

has anyone considered that maybe several young men should do a tribute instead of just chris, I wouldnt mind seeing usher do somehing, omarion, justin timberlake and I am not even a timberlake fan but the world loved mike not just black people.

  • DizzyGuy

The fact of the matter is that Chris Brown can dance and sing his azz off. Him beating Rihanna’s azz has nothing to do with him dancing and performing, but morally that’s wrong. Chris Brown is the only guy I can think of who can do the tribute. He did great doing Thriller…he may get booed though. He needs to issue an apology though or atleast apologize to his fans and to Rihanna and just say that he wants to make what he did right. Also he should talk to domestic violence abusers as well.

i hate to admit it but yes i would liek to see him do it but to the ppl talkin bout ppl make mistakes, and move on f that…he needs to be punished for his actions or he WILL do it again. pls learn from history so we dont repeat it. we have to make ppl responsible for their actions and just letting it go after a couple of months and NO punishment is not taking responsibility and the sh*t that hes saying now definitely shows that has not learned his lesson however he would do it better than anybody else and i think they should let him do it. we just need to learn to seperate situations, doing this should not redeem him. i just think he should spend at least a week or two in jail then probation.something to let him know he’ll have to deal with more than public scrutiny

When I heard a tribute may be done at The BET Awards, the first and only person I thought of that could do it justice is Chris Brown!

For all the hypocrites that still hate on Chris,I find it hella interesting that you people can forgive Mike for what he was accused of and yet you still want to sit on your azz judge Chris.I would bet like hell that Mike would want somebody who has been persecuted as much as he was to do the tribute such as Chris Brown!

The perfect person to do the tribute is Chris Brown! He has the voice and the moves and he has been persecuted just as badly as Michael Jackson!

For the hypocrites who act like Chris can’t walk the same ground as Mike did, hell he had more in common with Mike because both were accused of certain crimes,of which there was no real answer to!

For all The Chris haters that will say well “Chris admitted guilt”,true but the fact is he copped a plea to MAKE SURE he didn’t go to jail because a trial would not have guaranteed that!

There is more to what happened with Rihanna and I don’t see how you haters can justify thinking you can forgive Mike for what he may have did but at the same time, you judge Chris! Fact is that none of you hypocrites can judge Chris or anyone else!

No doubt, all my respect to MJ and his legacy, but no one can argue that he behaved inappropriately in many cases. my point in mentioning MJ’s legal woes as opposed to CB’s was merely to illustrate that as far as PUBLIC RECORD goes…one came out not guilty (acquitted) and one didn’t. aside from what is public record none of us know for sure what happened in either case. many speculated that MJ was just tired and didn’t have enough funds to go through numerous trials on top of the ones he had just finished. but the question begs, had those kids really been molested or abused in any way, had they been MY kids NO amount of money would make me settle out of court…unless I was lying and just after money from the get go. again this is just my own feeling on the issue, I can’t prove this one way or the other. it’s all speculation. CB pleading guilty is NOT speculation, it is fact.

I hope that put as much effort into your studies as you have put into this Chris Brown thread today. Diddy, Chris Brown, Boyz II Men & More Team for Jackson Tribute

    From E!Online:

In a time of sorrow, Sean “Diddy” Combs has already taken to the studio.

The hip-hop mogul, who last night tweeted that Michael Jackson showed him how to “see the beat,” has already put together a tribute track in honor of the fallen multigenre-affecting icon.

“Better on the Other Side” features Diddy, along with fellow Jackson mourners Chris Brown, Boyz II Men, the Game, Polo and Mario Winans.

Basically a tribute to the way Jackson influenced countless artists who came after him, a few lines of the track go like this:

“I guess what I’m askin’ is, everybody bow your head for a legend, don’t breathe for a second… My confession, somebody tell Usher, I seen him moonwalk, I guess the young ‘Thriller’ touched him, like he touched me, like he touched you…”

    We hear that.

based on what Rihanna looked like…OF COURSE…she looked battered. to ME, in my opinion there is never ever an excuse for a man to do that to a woman. Rihanna didn’t bust up her own face did she? and do you really think if there was any evidence against Rihanna CB would risk losing everything to protect her? hell no…he would defend himself and bring HER part in the mess to light. he wouldn’t risk losing his career just to protect her. as for Rihanna still wanting to be with him, where do you get that? just because she didn’t want the restraining order? that’s silly, that only means she knows they will be at the same events and doesn’t want to limit him or herself by a restraining order, to me that was strictly for BUSINESS and professional reasons not because she still wants to be with him. she was in court to testify AGAINST him for God’s sake. I doubt she wants to be with him.

MJ’s death is SO MUCH BIGGER than some CB and Rihanna dispute.

MJ deserves the best possible tribute and at the moment Chris Brown is the only one to give that . . . Not Usher, Not Mario, Not Neyo, Not Omarion …. CHRIS BROWN.

  • Jessica

I think the reason why ppl dont want Chris Brown to perform is because they think he is using this as a way to get the public on his side. We know he was inspired by him and he is sad that he died but there is controversy surrounding him right now. We don’t need no more controversy surrounding Michael anymore. I think for the tribute they should sing we are the world. Have all the singers planning to attend the ceremony perform it live while pictures of michael’s most memorable moments shown while they sing. Ever since Chris Brown came into the picture i think people have forgotten that Usher is a pretty good dancer. Chris mostly does krump dance. Usher, Omarion, Justin and Chris should all do a medley, it should not be focused on Chris cuz some might get pissed off. PPL say that Michael was forgiven for child molestation charges but i dont agree with that, some people forgave him but some did not,it took for him to die for some people to start embracing him again. Michael was the butt of every joke, he was ridiculed. Especially here in america. Why is it that he was supposed to do concerts in London instead of The U.S? Internationally he was still successful he released a bunch of greatest hit albums internationally, not domestically, that still topped the charts.

In case you forgot out of all the names people keep throwing around MJ only acknowledged Chris and payed respect to his talent at such a young age. The boy has fashioned his career after MJ more obviously than any other artist.

I was never a huge fan of MJ, I can’t deny that his music has influenced the music industry forever, and I can’t deny that he’s a legend. Same for CB, I never disliked him, was always indifferent, in fact the only think I heard from him before this was the song he did with Jordan Sparks (I think that’s her name) so this has nothing to do with my preference for one artist and not the other.

as I said earlier my opinions are strictly based on PUBLIC RECORDS. one artist was acquitted and the other plead guilty. that’s why we have a legal system. for instance as much as I hate OJ simpson…the court said he was not guilty…and that is all I can base my opinion on. that’s why we have a legal system and trials. we can’t say MJ was accused so he was “probably” guilty. that’s silly.

This only goes to prove that C Breezy should def. be on stage Sun night at the BET awards. MJ had his issues just like C Breezy and everybody else. I vote for him to be on stage. • You rock my world MIKE

Let’s just all agree to disagree. MJ was and is and will always be the BEST! No one can touch Michael. Yes people can do tributes to him all day long and have been for many years but the fact is many people do not want to see Chris Brown doing a tribute if the intention is for him to regain some kind of respect for a ‘come back’ just by doing a tribute. If he is doing it for the wrong reasons…reasons other than to actually pay tribute than I say he should not do it.

Of course no one can ever be on the same level as MJ– CB is the only one in the game that comes close.

  • Iyan

No, although it would be nice. His rep is a little too tarnished right now. Even though I can’t think of anyone who would do better. Maybe sometime in the future.

  • Marie

In an interview, Michael stated that Chris Brown was an upcoming artist that he admired towards the end of his statement he also added Timberlake. I think Chris should do it. He did a tribute in his concert & it was really good.

  • bryant

I like Chris Brown.. but if any “one’ person should do a tribute to MJ, it is Usher. As he is the only male artist who has come close (and he’s not even close) to what MJ has done. Hell, he is the only one with a diamond album.

However, I agree with whoever said that there should not be one person to do the tribute solely alone. Rather a bunch of people since MJ touched and influenced so many of this generation.

  • LA Woman

Please do not mention Chris Brown any further. He is a pathetic felon that deserves to be forgotten.

We don’t hate celebrities personally. We hate it when certain celebrities are shoved down our throats like they are God’s gift to music and entertainment. These celebrities need us to talk about them (good or bad) to further their careers. When no one is talking about them, their careers are over.

For example, I can go on and on about how much I despise Chris for what he did to Rihanna. I am entitled to my opinion. Celebrities put themselves out there in the public to be judged. It’s part of the job. Otherwise, Chris and Rihanna would be in college getting an education and leading private lives.

  • DRW

    None other than Chris!

  • ScorpioQueen

He is talented enough to follow in MJ foot steps but can never be Kig of pop MJ would never harm a fly, I love them both but to chris a public apology for what you did to the other erson would say a lot to your FANS

  • GIVEDADDYSOMESUGAR

Chris Brown is talented in his own right and I do not expect him to be “the next Michael Jackson” or anyone else. As far as a public apology, he soes not owe anyone but Rihanna an apology. I hope Chris does not make the same mistakes as Michael by allowing the public to shape who is becomes and how he lives his life. Those that are so upset with Chris and Rihanna should battle abuse in their own homes and communities. Rihanna can defend herself. She has lawyers and the justice system for that. Again, everyone should move on.

  • AvaSpeaks

Looik I look at it this way, before all this mess with CB, everybody was saying that CB was the heir to the King of Pop! People in the industry was even calling him, “the Prince of R&B” which he was.

Now let’s be real here, we know that CB will not be the only person paying tribute to MJ but at the same time, most people know that he should be in that group.

If both him and Rhianna are moving past this and talking on the phone with each other, then we need to move past this too.

Most likely, if CB does good tonight, then he’s going to be back on the right track.

  • http://wizzyjr.wordpress.com Wizzy Jr.

Michael, before his death, Praised Chris Browns talent and they were even in talks of Collaborating. So, I don’t think Michael would be upset.

And Nobody is talking about taking Michael’s place. NOBODY can do that…EVER. They are paying TRIBUTE to him and they’re basically saying “Thank you”. So, it’d be FITTING that they’d call Chris. He’s basically a Michael CLONES, like every other singing/dancing dude in this industry, just like the girls are dancing clones of JANET.

Chris and Rihanna have moved on from the incident. Why can’t WE? It happened, He plead Guilty and SHE forgave him. LET’S MOVE ON!!! It’s all about the MUSIC, folks.
