Janet Jackson Speaks Out on Behalf of the Jackson Family
Posted by Bossip Staff
Janet repped the rest of the Jackson clan last night at the 2009 BET Awards. She was visually shaken but delivered a clear message of how much Michael Jackson will be missed and how his legacy touched everyone around the world.

stay strong
Poor Janet.
They say she was in Atl filming “Why Did I Get Married 2″ at Tyler Perry’s studio when she found out. Pretty sad. Hopefully she can get back to work and deliver a great performance in the movie. The first one was a banger!
I feel so horrible for Janet. I know she loved her big brother so much, and she was very supportive of him and said so repeatedly in interviews. Last night’s BET spectacle didn’t do him justice at all. I know it must have taken every fiber of strength she had just to walk onto that stage. Her words emotionally humanized the global megastar who was her brother Michael.
She shouldn’t have been up there in my opinion…
It was too soon and you could tell it took damn near all of her strength to get up on stage and do that…
I wouldn’t of been surprised if she had of collapsed under the weight of the stress and grief…
Not a good look on your part B.E.T (Buffonery Entertainment Television) if you requested that she do that…
Janet I’ll pray for you – May God Bless you and help you get through this trying time…
I was so happy to see her there … unlike that phony Joe Jackson.
My prayers go out to them!
Clarification: That should read she “loves” her brother — That will never stop.
I cried when Janet walked up there and she looked great too.
She made me cry, and they had that pic up there of her and her brother as well it just finished me
Janet was the only one who saved that horrible show last night. and she looked absolutely stunning. she’s a very strong woman for doing that.
I FELT SO BAD FOR HER YOU CAN REALLY SEE SHE WAS GOIN THROUGH IT…. RIP MIKE JACKSON… GOD BLESS THE JACKSON FAMILY
I enjoy her brother’s music very much. It is wonderful. I find that lots of his fans on____ Richflirts.com __ club for professional athletes, movie stars and millionaires are talking about him. He is a talent.
His death does not mean that he has lost, he is the winner.I wish to express my deepest condolences and sadness at the p*****ing of Michael jackson.
It’s sad to be famous sometimes. This family is in mourning and it’s so soon but they have to make public appearances. Be strong Janet.
i’m glad Janet showed up. she put alot of Mike’s fans at ease by appearing. and she never looked more beautiful.
She made me cry. I love Janet and all I could feel was her pain. I am not into all the speculation of MJ’s death, I want to acknowledge him as God’s child because that is what he was first. His family lost their son, brother, father, uncle, people need to remember that first not all that hype and craziness the media is presenting. Diddy actually said it best last night at the pre-show, I am mad I am quoting Diddy, but lets remember him for the Legend he was and what he gave us which is great unforgettable legendary music.
That was sad as hell.
You know what’s REALLY sad???
I just read from the *****ociated Press that Jordan Chandler admitted his FATHER told him to concoct the 1993 molestation charges.
His father is a complete disgrace, to tarnish the image of someone who gave so much.
Oh wait…there’s MORE! AND Debbie Rowe claimed she was artificially inseminated by an anonymous donor. This is a tragedy.
I’m still very bothered by last night’s tribute. Just minutes before Janet appeared, she and everyone else were subjected to a parade of buffoons. That Cash Money (whatever they’re called) performance was unbelievable — they had to bleep out half of the words, there were young girls gyrating on stage, dollars being thrown, etc. And then they bring out a grief-stricken woman who just lost her brother with whom she shared so much. It was just horrible and so, so insensitive and disrespectful — this is an immeasurable loss, and I feel like it was mocked. Shame on BET.
Janet was fabulous last night. she put everything back into perspective after 3 1/2 hours of buffoonery. and, as much as i can’t stand that *****, mariah should have been the one to close the show with ‘i’ll be there’. ne-yo’s shiny ***** gayhead was giving me a headache.
@re
yeah, i read that too! but isn’t it interesting that the media hasn’t jumped on that and spread it all over the TV like they did with the lies about Mike?
just sayin’….
@SASHA FLOP
It IS interesting! I accidentally stumbled upon this information when I read what a commentor wrote on another blogging website (in regards to an MJ post). So I looked it up, and voila!
I feel SO bad. And it’s too late to take it back now, because there will always be reservations about Michael even if the boy issues a public statement at a press conference.
We will always love the Jacksons!!! R.I.P Michael.
Seeing her speak on behalf of the Jacksons put in perspective that even though to all of us he was a major superstar, he meant so much more to his family.
I pray that they all find the strength in the Lord to get through this.
janet was so strong to do this, she truly loved mike and never looked more stunning….unlike beelzebub….i mean joe jackson! did anybody see the interview he gave cnn where he was actually promoting his new music label among other insensitive things? disgusting
When Janet walked on that stage, tears came to my eyes. I hope she had just arrived and didn’t witness all of the buffoonery ahead of time.
I agree with you Sasha Flop, the media WILL NOT jump all over that & spread it around. That’s why it is so important for people not to harp on everything that someone else says and to weigh all of the facts before coming to their own conclusion.
In regards to Janet, my eyes literally popped out of my head when I saw her walking across the stage. Her face told a story of unbelievable pain & I can only imagine what the mother (and children) are going through. God bless the entire Jackson family & Michael, you are forever loved!
i’m glad Janet showed up. she put alot of Mike’s fans at ease by appearing.

@B’More
I don’t agree with you, but it is your opinion and I should respect that…
I believe that it’s not about you or us fans all of the time
While we like them for entertaining us, this is a real life tragedy and stressful event that they are going through and they shouldn’t be asked to do anything until they want to and/or are good and ready to do so…
We shouldn’t get what we want ALL of the time and especially considering what just happened and what they are going through I don’t think that she should have been up there because to me it looked like she was about to fall out and collapse…
Everybody is different and everyone goes through grief differently…
“i mean joe jackson! did anybody see the interview he gave cnn where he was actually promoting his new music label among other insensitive things? disgusting”
I wonder if her father’s presence prompted Janet even more to make her remarks, despite the obvious great strain she is under. Don Lemon, who conducted the interview, said himself that Joe Jackson didn’t come across as a “grieving father” during parts of the interview. When asked how the family was doing, he said they were all “fine.” No, they’re not. How could they be?
I actually didn’t expect to see any of the Jacksons there, and I think they need their privacy at this time. It was obviously very taxing on Janet to talk about her brother when the pain is still so fresh. It angers me that the moment was made even harder for her by the buffoonery she had to witness supposedly as a “tribute” to her brother.
FINAL CURTAIN CALL FOR BET
You know, I have finally written off looking at BET anymore. I really looked forward to seeing a very well organized and exciting show. Instead, I saw the most shameful display of sheer ignorance and dispicable behavior I have ever seen on a national awards show. The only thing missing was to pour some liquor out on the stage in memory of Michael Jackson. Why my people must you act like this? I know I’ll probably get some ugly comments or even blasted but I have to get this off my chese. Let me comment on the highlights…
Joe Jackson (red carpet interview): I’ve resigned myself to say this FOOL just doesn’t get it. He just lost his son, yet he sees his death as an opportunity to make more money. To hear this man speak of his SON in the third person and how he can show not one iota of remorse escapes me. Even in death, he still could not recognize his child with any love or respect but as a a money-making machine. Sorry Joe, your cash cow is gone now. Michael, may you finally rest in peace.
New Edition: While you tried, and it was good to see you again, your c*****ography was off. You could hardly hear them singing and I was highly disappointed in the performance. Bobby, well, push back from the table! This whole performance was one that you could tell was thrown together, probably the night before.
Jamie Foxx: A very talented individual–singer, actor, and comedian but host, you are not. I was so upset with the opening of the show. The dialogue was not funny and throughout, ramblings of sex, hawking your tour and new album was boring and really unprofessional. Discussing your “boa” and being moist is not appropriate for an AWARDS SHOW Jamie! Stick with singing and never, ever, ever host a show again!
Beyonce: What in the world were you thinking? I felt as if I was looking at Peter Pan and you were a pixie ready to fly away! The choice in song and outfit was waaay off. After the change of clothes, the dress that you chose was risque, to say the least, and even Jamie with his sexually-provacative comments had to bring that to everyone’s attention.
Don Cornelius: OMG…has he had a stroke, was he drunk, on drugs, or all three? Was there not anyone else who could roast the O’Jays as they deserved rather than having him make a mockery of himself? He could not read the teleprompter, talked even slower than he ever did, and rambled so much that The O’Jays finally got up to cut him
off. What an embar*****ment of his legacy and persona.
The O’Jays: It was refreshing to see “real” talent on the show and one of the FEW positive notes in the almost four hours that I sat through this travesty. The act was cl*****y, the music was timeless, and their c*****ography was on point. One thing, Eddie, the show was live and not a club where you were sitting with your home boys. Why couldn’t you keep the language clean?
Ving Rhames: One word–disgusted. When Tyrese came out and he had Taraji did the parody of Baby Boy, it was funny. However, that crap (putting it mildly) that Ving said about guns being Michael and all of that other swearing and nonsense led me to believe that he was drunk. At least this is the excuse that I’m going to use for his irriational behavior. As a veteran actor, what in the world were you thinking? I now categorize you in the same category as the other thugs that I saw on the show! Thanks to Taraji for diffusing the situation before a fight or who knows what got started.
Lil Wayne, Drake and the others: Never ever again invite these thugs onto an awards show. Every year they get worse and worse. I guess no talent brings desperate behavior. These idiots no professionalism whatsoever! I finally turned the TV on mute because of all the cursing and swearing in their performance. Unfortunately, it seems the vocabulary of these individuals does not span wider than the ten curse words that were used over and over again. I was truly done at that point in the show. What a travesty to have to sit through that mess in a live audience!
Ciara and Maxwell: Cl*****y, well-delivered, and professional. It was good to see Ciara do a performance that really paid tribute to Michael in a positive and professional manner. Maxwell, glad to have you back. Maybe you can teach some of these others how to do a performance without gyrating across the stage or taking your clothes off. Looking forward to your new CD.
Finally, Ms. Janet, you are a courageous woman to come out on stage in front of millions and still speak to those who truly loved your brother and will miss him tremendously. Unlike dad, you were very poignant, even when you choked back the tears. You are brave and while I had tears in my eyes, I knew you were being strong for your family. Please know that outside of the BET show and the fiasco that came on last night, there will be others who will properly and respectfully pay tribute to Michael in a way that would make him proud. The world is praying for you and your family during this difficult time.
Poor Janet you can see the sadness in her eye…god bless her.
@Slide Like A Fresh Pair of Gators
This is no time to joke! The whole family is grieving in their own way! Janet put A LOT of suicidal fans at ease by appearing on TV and giving the statement she did! God bless you Janet and the whole family!
@Paula

That was beautifully said. Thank you. You’re right — last night should be BET’s curtain call.
I was suprised to see joe then janet! AND PEOPLE STOP HATING ON THE BET AWARDS IT WAS A GOOD SHOW! WHAT THE HELL YOU WANT THEM TO DO!
this moment really brought tears to my eye. The message was so real. And I agree to us Michael IS an icon but they have lost a family member.
All my prayers go out to mama Jackson and the rest of the family.
If mike was there he would think the show was good and jamie was funny ***** chris tucker make fun of michael all the time so whats the difference? People are too serious now and days!
That’s right Janet nothing else matters, but family!
@ the_one
WELL SAID! COULDN’T HAVE SAID IT ANY BETTER!!!
I also agreed with A Keys last night…I HONESTLY felt that there was a positive spirit @ that award ceremony last night! Even though I was in my own home…there was special feeling…I LOVE MIKE! HE TOUCHED MY LIFE and my heart in ways I don’t think n e other artist ever could!
This is no time to joke! The whole family is grieving in their own way! Janet put A LOT of suicidal fans at ease by appearing on TV and giving the statement she did!

@Ash
Where do you see me trying to crack a joke in this thread?
Oh girl, expressed her opinion and I expressed mine…
I had an issue with what she said as it came across to me as very selfish & being about her needs being satisfied with no regard to what the Jacksons are going through via the death of their “brother” – not the Superstar that we love because he did a good job at entertaining us…
Did you see Janet and how much it took for her to stand up on that stage?
*Please let us not argue…
I’m just responding to you saying I’m cracking jokes…
She is so strong for going to the BET awards and speaking on behalf of her fam!! And she looked fabulous!
@ PAULA
YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ESPECIALLY AGREE WITH THAT LIL WAYNE AND DRAKE PART! I try to stay as positive as possible “if u have nothing nice to say don’t say anything”…BUT that “performance”..w.as UGH! appalling! (sry 4 the spelling!)
@ Paula…good points. Very good.
Dont forget Keri Hilson though…why was she doing to much??? I couldnt tell if she was impersonating Elvis Presley moves or MJ’s…
Soulja BOY??? What in the world…
Where the hell was Mariah Carey, Where the hell was Kanye West’s performance (minus Amber)…Damn BET
Janet Jackson was the best damn thang that could have happened to that show last night.
Also that baby boy charade was unnecessary
A Hawt ***** Mess – It was painful to watch
All of you must realize that the award show had been planned long before it aired. No one knew Michael was going to p***** three days prior. To be able to revamp the entire show on a couple days notice made it a WONDERFUL tribute in my opinion! I’m sure Jamie would have been better had the show aired as planned.
I was surprised to see Janet. She spoke well for her family. My prayers go out to the Jackson family. RIP Michael he will truly be missed.
Be strong Janet, i had tears in my eyes when she started talking, its very painful and sad. RIP MICHAEL. You will always remain in our hearts.
Why the hell was Joe Jackson there ? Ugh……..that man irks me. He physically and verbally abused Micheal horribly.
I love you janet ~~ stay strong and RIP MJ ~~ you are and always will be in our hearts~ I appreciated you alive and i love you even more now~~~ God bless the Jackson family~~~
no commet on why Joe was there but good to see him there and what ever he did it made their lives better then living in poverty~ lot of people got whipped as a kid and they are better adults~ notice i said whipped (not beat) theres a difference~~~ RIP MJ~~`
I know that was hard for Janet but she will most likely be the spokes person for the family.
Sometimes in life you just have to pull up the boot straps and do what you have to do.
I LOVE YOU JANET!!!!!
@Paula
No one on this site has ever been so on point as you….YOU GO GIRL!!
“he meant so much more to his family.”
…with the exception of Joe.
@ Slide Like A Fresh Pair of Gators
Umm please tell how the ***** Janet was being selfish?!?!?! You can tell she’s hurting! She just spoke on behalf of her family because they chose her to give a statement to everyone! You’re just starting trouble!
The show would have been a bafoonery anyway. This is to be expected. The issue is if they took all of the coonery out in respect to MJ they wouldn’t have had a show.
I enjoyed the New Edition performance. Yea it was a little rusty but it was last min. I thought they sounded fine and were on point for last min c*****ography.
Jamie was a little crude but that’s Jamie. There was a moment when I was a bit uncomfortable. I think he tried his best to joke about MJ but not insult him.
The Beyonce performance was about Beyonce to me. I thought she was going to sing a MJ song. The costume was a hot mess. It looked like a bad tacky Stripper Bride Barbie costume.
The Cash Money performance was annoying with having to bleep most of the song. It got even worse when their daughters and their friends came out. I had a convo with my sis about how most rappers don’t consider their crude raps about girls to be about their daughters but these fools have their lil girls dancing to it on stage.
I’m wondering why Joe didn’t speak he could have saved Janet from having to do this. I’ll say it might be good for her. She’s gone over this hump and may be able to do more at the funeral.
As someone who doesnt watch BET shows at ALL, I had to say I thought that I enjoyed SOME of the show. The OJAYs dedication was nice (poor Don..he’s getting old). The Humanitarian Awards were nicely done. Mary Mary and Latifah were good. Maxwell was PLATINUM. Jamie, despite the plugs was amusing…maybe because the vulgar stuff was bleeped out on my tv…and I actually gained a bit of respect for Neyo’s singing in that finale. Janet of course was great and considering the fact that BET completely churned this show out in 3 days (those who know nothing of production will obviously criticize) I thought it was tasteful. Wayne, Soulja…whatever Ving was doing..obviously was in bad taste and I think the sweetness of the overall show that they were trying to convey only made those horrid performers seem even MORE terrible. Forgive me…I stopped listening to hip hop when Biggie died. It aint been the same since.
I stopped watching BET years ago. Poor programming and way to ghetto.
Frankie and Neffe show & I hear f a Tiny and Lil Wayne ex wife reality show. WTF they can’t even speak english.
*of
Umm please tell how the ***** Janet was being selfish?!?!?

Watch your mouth when you’re talking to me…
I didn’t curse at you why are you cursing at me?
Please reread the comments that I made and the comments that “B’More” made…
@ Paula—
YOUR COMMENT SHOULD BE AN ARTICLE NOT ONLY FOR BOSSIP BUT TONS OF OTHER MEDIA OUTLETS.
YOUR COMMENT SHOULD BE AN ARTICLE NOT ONLY FOR BOSSIP BUT TONS OF OTHER MEDIA OUTLETS!!!
I normally don’t type in all caps but I did in hopes that you see my comment referencing yours.
Speaking of the show–
Is Mary Mary saved and sanctified because I couldn’t tell.
Just my opinion………….
WE LOVE YOU JANET
Janet in 2 mintues was Beautiful, Cl*****y, and Honest. Unlike the HORRIBLE Beyonce Performance (who does she think she is Diana Ross or Mariah-honey she will NEVER be a great diva) she’s a copycat. Give Madonna back her 1984 wedding dress.
tired *****=beyonce
what the hell was up with joe jackson pluggin his new record label after speaking of his son’s death?!!!!!
anyone see that?!
no matter what JJ did on stage at the BET awards… that nucca Joe is sumthin else!
@ Sydney
@ Candid Canuck
Yes, I noticed that too! First, I was listening to Herb Kent on V103 here in Chicago yesterday. He’s a pioneer in the radio industry who’s been around forever. So anyways, who should call in to thank V103 listeners for their support, but good ol’ Joe Jackson. I found it odd someone would call a radio station and talk to someone they barely know to thank them so soon and meanwhile Micheal hasn’t even had a funeral service yet…..seemed a bit much to me. Then, last night when I saw him shining on the BET awards I thought WTH is wrong with him?! Janet was representing the family and is a music artist herself so he DID NOT need to be there. I missed the CNN interview, but I caught it on you tube and heard him pub his record company at the end. He should be ashamed! For all who ever wondered how Michael got like that, now we know.
Janet looked so beautiful through all of her pain and grief. Her presence and her words were very moving. I hope the Jackson family finds comfort in all the love and support that is coming their way from all over the world.
@Shanta, so true. Beyonce needs to sit her tired ***** down somewhere. She will never be an icon or a diva. Just tired-*****, butt-shaking beyonce. SMDH.
Just wanna say,True beauties are actually among ourselves,check this out…millionaire chats.c/o/m… hot and sincere rich people,hot girls and handsome men there are much more attractive and charming!
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who felt that show was a horrible spectacle and did NOTHING to honor Michael Jackson the way he should have been. Debra Lee needs go step down. They can play up the fact that they threw this thing together in a matter of 3 days all they want to. The problem is IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS JUST THROWN TOGETHER!!!!
Where do I even begin with that MESS they put on? I’m so sick and digusted with BET and the garbage they call music that they promote! Jamie Foxx needs to learn how to be professional. I enjoyed his performances better than his “hosting.” I enjoyed Ne-Yo, Maxwell and the OJay’s tribute and that was it. Everything else was horrible. This had to be one of the worst shows EVER that BET has put on. It was not good at all.
I thought Janet was going to fall to pieces but she held it together. I feel so bad for her. I too have a brother that I’m super close to so I know very well how strong that brother-sister bond is. =(
HORRIBLE SHOW BET. Debra Lee you should be ashamed of that haphazard mess you displayed to the world last night. The whole world watched the buffonery.
@Paula
FINAL CURTAIN CALL FOR BET…..
You summed it up very, very well. I can only hope that BET reads your comments. They need to know how they disrespected, dissaapointed. and ultimately lost so many of their viewers.
Also, your last paragraph:
Finally, Ms. Janet, you are a courageous woman to come out on stage in front of millions and still speak to those who truly loved your brother and will miss him tremendously. Unlike dad, you were very poignant, even when you choked back the tears. You are brave and while I had tears in my eyes, I knew you were being strong for your family. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Paula, you said it best!
As soon as janet came out, the tears began to fall!…seeing that photo of her and michael on the screen behind he was too much!
I thought the BET awards was ok, i liked the n.e, neyo, ciara, and jaime performace but overall, the show was not very much MJ inspired and I feel that they should had put on a seperate show…
I liked the drake performance but when wayne came out I was a little bit upset (disrespectful), Keri hilson’s performace was good, but for a regular show not a tribute show, Beyonce? I thought she scraped her performance for a MJ tribute? I think it was her way of telling the world she’s the next biggest thing, it was definitely about her…..Maxwell wasn’t mj inspired but her still tore it up!!! Soulja boy? I don’t have enough typing *****e to get started on him!
But I like a.keys and wyclef moment, the o jays too!
Journey
Frankie and Neffe show & I hear f a Tiny and Lil Wayne ex wife reality show. WTF they can’t even speak english.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I tried to watch the show last night and really didn’t understand why they talked like that. I can understand Toya moreso because her family talks like that. Tiny’s mother didn’t talk like that. Tiny’s friends didn’t sounds that bad either. I grew up in GA as a kid and had a southern t***** but I didn’t sound retarded. She’s been a “professional” in the industry for how long? I would have thought the record lable would have taken care of that. Now I understand why she never talked during interviews with Exscape.
Janet Jackson was obviously in pain and we should all commend her for her ability to speak. I did not think BET performance were all appropriate for MJ tribute Lil WAyne and Drake cursing and all. I am sure Michael would not have enjoyed that performance in particular… EX.. Interview in 1993 Michael and USA today.,….
Q: Do your religious beliefs ever conflict with the sexy nature of your music or dancing?
MJ: No. I sing about things that are loving, and if people interpret it as sexy, that’s up to them. I never use bad words like some of the rappers. I love and respect their work, but ((((I think I have too much respect for parents and mothers and elderly people. If I did a song with bad words and saw an older lady in the audience, I’d cringe)))))).
BET=Coon Picnic:
I just finished composing a letter to Debra Lee of BET informing her that last nights minstrel show was definitely a spectacle for all to see.
BET should be ashamed of themselves for giving this so called “tribute” to The King of Pop.
Where do I start….
First: I do know a thing or two about production and I would have rather them give a big tribute at the end to Michael Jackson, rather than to dedicate the awards show to him as it turned out sloppy.
Second: BET exploited Michael’s death in a weak attempt to gain ratings. The world was watching BET and they let the black community down by letting the Coon Klan; better known as Drake, Lil’Wayne, Souljah Boy, and Young Money, perform and have 10-12 year old girls w***** themselves out as if they were on skid row!
Third: New Edition does not have it anymore! Ciara sounded awful because she cannot sing, Beyonce dressed in Burlesque attire while singing a religious song, and Jamie Foxx sounded great at the end with Neyo. However, Jamie Foxx thoroughly embarr*****ed himself the entire time by not starting on cue, stating that he was not going to read from the TelePrompTer, and then saying Maxwell made him moist? Who says those type of things?
Fourth: Why was Joe Jackson rocking out in the wake of his sons death?
Fifth: Janet is a strong and beautiful woman. She represented her family well and my prayers are with them. We have to remember Michael was someone’s son, brother, father, nephew, cousin, and friend and while he may have been a legend and untouchable to us, he was still a human.
Fifth: Debra Lee and all of Bet should be fired and should be flipping burgers and salting fries at the local burger joint.
i agree that the show would have been better off without “Young Money”.
why oh why would the executives think that song “every girl” would be an appropriate performance?
I did enjoy the song Best I Ever had though…
Bet was a joke last night. With they ghetto *****es. Honoring all those lame azz celebs…I could not believe Keri won over Jazmine?? Lmao what a joke??
The best perfomace which had me ballin in tears was Neyos perfomance Lady in My Life and when he performed with Jamie at the end….the best performances all night…the rest garbage….a
And can yall believe lil wayne dusty azz and drakes bright yella self was allowed to perform on such a historic night, *fu*king every girl in the world” with lil azz girls on stage???
And then lets not forget the o so lame soulja boy that was actually allowed to perform POINTLESS AND MEANINGLESS GARBAGE…..
overall that show suxed azz and I only watched it to see how they were gonna Honor MIKE…HOW EMBAR*****ING TO SEE OUR PPL HONOR HIM IN SUCH A LOW FOOLISH GHETTO WAY….smdh.
STAND TALL JANET HIS FANS WILL ALWAYS LOVE AND SUPPORT MIKE….His Positivities truly out weighed his negatitivites.
Speaking of the show–
@1trudiva….Is Mary Mary saved and sanctified because I couldn’t tell.
Just my opinion………….
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
don’t go there….we all fall short and sin, even Mary Mary….besides, Christ fellowshiped with everyone….
@DC OMG…thank you brotha…or sister?? LOL
But I ssooooo agree with you…damn thats a beautiful thing…..I thought I was the only one that notice that BS….The audience should have booed they azzes off the stage and booooooooed ciara and BEYONCE CRAZZY SELF…I mean who in the hell wears a skeezy azz outfit like that while perfoming Ave Maria?? LMAO crazy
Im HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN THE WAY BET HONORED MICHAEL…and i simply just wish they take that GHETTO OF A MESS STATION OFF OF CABLE TV…just makin blacks look fkn foolish with all there JOCKIN GHETTO IGNORANT AZZ SHOWS.
I mean what ever happen to shows like Teen Summit??? damn BET has fell off soo bad its sickening.
Slide I agree 100% she was DEVASTATED!! Some time the public needs to take a step back also & let emotions heal, I understand wanting to see Janet but I would have ALSO understood if she hadn’t shown up. THAT show was Sub-Par to say the least. Jamie was funny and I think he was trying to gain & maintain a certain level of high sprits & while I commend the effort he got a little crude at times, BUT the immediate fault lies w/the production of the show WHY, WHY, WHY does BET keep feeding the public these ungodly acts (not performers) acts as in belong in the circus!!! who in their right minds w/respect to their family or others in general would have their UNDERAGE daughters on stage performing to lick,stick & screw songs??? DISGUSTING..and not just last night they should never be allowed to perform in PUBLIC i have yet to see ANYTHING appealing about lil Wayne & hus crew I don’t even like J-Z but I swear he made a mementary fan of me last night w/that Death to Auto Tune rap, THAT WAS PRICELESS..his Bride of Chucky as usual (clueless) didn’t quite get the outfit that was some B shyte there nothing to do w/Michael and FYI she hacked the song to get the full effect listen to Sarah McLachlan NOW SHE (Sarah)killed it I love her version, MAXWELL- PLATIUMN X 2, NE did OK gotta remember those boys are a LOT older now & some serious pounds heavier. Alicia & Clef as always were on point, O-Jays stil jamming..Give Eddie a p***** it was a slip of the tongue AND *****ODY know the loss of a SON better than Eddie dont think he was trying to be disrespectful in any kind of way. Don C. what can we say he’s old BUT I’d take Don & Soul Train anyday over this BET garbage. It’s sad when the only ppl who you COMPETE AGAINST for awards are as talentless as the recipient themselves so it’s a lose/lose combo period. So who gets the award the 1 w/a little talent & looks OR No talent & No looks OR no talent,No looks & no personality and since dumb*****ness is a Pre-requisite for todays New Mellienium (artist)?? we have much more garbage to look forward to for listening & viewing pain
I agree with fellow bossip posters that the BET awards were awful. I could only allow myself to watch an hour worth of that bull crap. It’s amazing after all these years that BET has been a cable network, you would think they would have learned by now how to conduct themselves like a real network but as you can see from last night, nothing changed. I missed the old BET when Donnie was still hosting his video show and BET was still in it’s infant stage still trying to figure out who they were. At least then they had an excuse, they were a young network but today, it’s just a shameful. I refuse to watch BET.
Wow…his fathers reaction on CNN says so much…I wonder if he ever acknowledged his role in his sons unhappiness.
Paula and Dc said it the best janet made me cry. mary mary what the hell. my momma is a big fan of them and i’m glad she didn’t see that hip hop nonsense performed. i almost forgot they were singing about god. and did usee the people with drinks and there hands when t pain lip syncede blame it. i only partially watched this year so i could see great homage to MJ instead they showed some fooly***** instead.thats why i dont watch bet too damn ghetto for my tatse
Papa Joe having a news conference and pimping his record label again, on CNN. this man is something else.
I agree 100% she was DEVASTATED!! Some time the public needs to take a step back also & let emotions heal, I understand wanting to see Janet but I would have ALSO understood if she hadn’t shown up.
Thank You…
You obviously can read unlike some others… SMH
And good one with that joke about Beyonce looking like the “Bride of Chucky”…
Thank you Ms.Smooth Criminal. I’m a sista!!! lol
Yeah, BET (EBT) made an ***** of themselves and unfortunately they represented us as black community. I am a young 22 year old woman in law school, thus I am thoroughly ashamed that they chose to display court jesters as performers/entertainment. There is nothing entertaining about a minstrel show.
Bet needs to do the black community a favor and remove themselves from the airways, they throughly embarr*****ed us in front the world. Like I stated earlier they need to fire every last employee who works for BET , because obviously none of those coons knew what they were doing.
Is Mary Mary saved and sanctified because I couldn’t tell.
I know… You can’t be singing about the Good Lord and be wearing “tight black pleather pants” = the two don’t go together…
When you dress like that as a man I ain’t listening to what your saying all I’m thinking about is bending her over and… You know what let me stop…
That’s why I don’t like that Kirk Franklin type of Gospel Music – there is no clear distinction between the “Holy & Sacred” and the “secular”… They be confusing folks…
I am a sister, and I know that I would be devestated if I were in her shoes, may God continue to be with her and her family and give them the strength they need to get through these trying times.
she made me cry,I was suprised to see her,she was strong,Michael was very close to her,GOD will only make her stronger,in dealing with her grief
they throughly embarr*****ed us in front the world
@DC
Yep… SMH
All eyes were on them and look what they did… DISGRACE!!!
Big Dummies!!!
I don’t want to hear about they didn’t have enough time… Ain’t they the ones who promote the slogan “Black Star Power”? You mean to tell me that they couldn’t get somebody to go up there and say how much they loved MJ’s Music and how much he inspired them and then sing one of his MANY hits? Who’s gonna refuse that opportunity? They’re in L.A. and so many entertainers live there and were in town anyways – they couldn’t get *****ODY to do that and REPLACE wack a$$ Soulja Boy singing a song called “Turn My Swag On” (listen to that stupid song) and Drake (no stage presence) and Lil’ Wayne and his boyfriend up on there cursing and using the n-word…
Once AGAIN B.E.T made it look like Black People can’t do anything right… SMH
B – Buffonery
E – Entertainment
T – Television
@ Paula
For the most part, I agree with you. The only part that I take issue with is the fact that it wasn’t well-organized. Of course it wouldn’t be well-organized–Michael Jackson died three days prior to the event, so it would be really difficult to un-coon the likes of Lil’ Wayne, Soulja Boy and some others in that short time frame. People who didn’t have any cl***** prior to MJ’s death cannot be expected to develop cl***** 72 hours after it. Unfortunately, many of these low cl***** and no cl***** artists make the BET network so much money in the way of ratings for their various shows/events that it wouldn’t have been financially or contractually wise to pull them from the show at the last minute.
Otherwise, your points are spot on and well-stated.
I need for Joe Jackson to have a heart attack! Not cardiac arrest, A FN heart attack. NOW!!! And it needs to be sudden, make him go away please lord. NOW!!
Debra Lee ‘nem should have had a tribute show LATER when they would have had the time and effort and THOUGHT into really honoring Michael. This mess they put on last night was horrific and sheer buffonery that they put on display for the whole world to see.
This was nothing more than a ratings opportunity for them and BET and Debra Lee should be ashamed of themselves for exploiting this man this way. I am so disgusted and horrified that I too have written a letter and I will be MAILING it to them. I tried to email it but it got sent back because their in box is full. It’s probably full of angry viewers like myself who thought last night show was a coonery show!!!!!!
Janet, honey your family has been corrupted. Abort! Please abort, now. Jump ship like big bro did. I don’t know who Joe is to you, but if I were you, he will be disclaimed. NOW!!! Take the kids, take the debt, take the tour and run, far, far away.NOW!!!!!
Janet, maybe ask Charlie Brown to help you out. Do the tour. Everybody needs to get away.
IMO it was too soon for any of his family to come out to awards shows and red carpets. The tribute was a shame! SMH! His father is a f*cking joke!! I can’t even begin with him….Janet I know is hurting with all of us but she said to us he was an icon…yeah but to many of us he was like family also. RIP
Paula, I couldn’t have said that any better. You took the words out of my mouth verbetum (actually I thought the Baby Boy skit with Taraji and Tyrese was funny, but Ving – he should’ve sat his azz down). You put it perfectly! Bravo, girl.
When Janet stepped out on that stage, I began to cry, and then they put the picture of her and Mike up, I really started weeping. I remember seeing that picture so many times in the past. She looked absolutely beautiful, but you can tell she was so grief stricken. Love you Janet. Hang in there girl!
Now, Entertainment Tonight is airing an interview that Joe Jackson just did with them. SMH!!!!
Ms. Smooth Criminal & DC OMG>>>I add you both to the kudos list. What more can I say.
Grade F
Soulja Boy
Drake/Lil Wayne (they should be shot for allowing those babies to get on stage like little video vixens. If they allow this in front of millions of people, Lord only knows what goes on behind closed doors. Some people should not become parents).
Keri Hilson
Ciara
Beyonce (love her voice, hated her outfit)
Jamie Fox (the only funny part was when he almost feel on his ***** trying to Moonwalk)
T-Pain (Blame it on the Alcohol). Hood anthem. Thank you Lord that I grew up in the 70s/80.
Don Cornelius Poor thing.
A’s
The O’Jays – can’t go wrong with old school
Tevin Campbell – good seeing him again
Keke Palmer – loved her rendition of “Who’s Lovin You”
Neyo – Excellent
The Topper! Janet’s tribute to her brother.
That is all.
Joe Jackson…..wtf
Is Mary Mary saved and sanctified because I couldn’t tell.
–
Me either, girl, I thought they were doing a straight R&B track until I heard ‘God in Me’. Now I know he without sin should cast the first stone, but still, I know for a fact NO ONE would [or should] wear what they wore on stage last night. I understand that they are trying to appeal to the younger audience, but dressing up like you’re going to the club whilst singing the lord’s praise just won’t do.
I enjoyed the Awards last night, and while there were some poor musical acts last night, I applaud the CEO for managing to make drastic changes in order to pay respect to the King of Pop.
My critique: I plugged my ears throughout Keri Hilson’s performance, and I was mad that she won that award over truly deserving artists like Jazmine.
Jamie had me laughing throughout his opening monologue and I think some of us have forgotten that comedians are paid to make light out such situations, while some of his jokes were a bit much, it was all in an attempt to be lighthearted not melancholy.
Tevin Campbell still looks good!
Don Cornelius- Oh man I was looking at the clock throughout his speech, why would they give the man such a lengthy speech..is beyond me.
Drake/Lil Wayne- So much bleeping! And they have those little girls on stage like they groupies! I was disappointed…but had a little Canadian pride seeing Drake on that stage. lol
She was strong for that one. God bless her and her family ;(
She looking stunning in white! My prayers go out to her and fam…..God Bless
I luv that Human Nature song by MJ, very touching song. Very touching..
R..I.P MJ!
@Slide Like A Fresh Pair of Gators
I agree with you. Although it was comforting for viewers to see her and hear from her, Janet and her family are entitled to grieve in private. People just need to time to work through their emotions, especially when the death occurs unexpectedly. I applaud her incredible strength and grace, but would have understood if she had opted out of the appearance. And they have yet to really say goodbye to him since they have not funeralized or buried him yet. Saying good bye is SOOOOO hard…they are going to need all their strength and prayer to get through it.
OMG….what a wast..i loved seeing janet she stayed real strong….DRAKE WAS GOOD UNTILL LIL HIV/WAYNE SHOULD UP WITH THOSE GROPIES IN TRANING
BEYONCE,LOVED THE SONG BUT SHE LOOKED TRIED & DRY.
KC AND MONICA….OMG WHAT WAS THAT?…A HOT MESS!!!
CICI….ANOTHER MESS!
NEYO…HE WAS LOVLEY TO WATCH!
JAMIE FOX…HE WAS FUNNY!
OVERALL I GIVE THE BET AWARDS A (C-)
She looks just like her brother!
This could have been BET’s way of making a comeback by paying an excellent tribute to the great Michael Jackson. If I had a choice of watching the crap I saw last night or waiting for a more well planned tribute…I would choose to wait for a more put together, planned, thoughtful tribute. The entire show (minus Janet’s tearful speech) was horrific…it was unbearable to watch. BET this was a waste of your time. Now we have to look to the “other man” to make a more acceptable tribute.
I’m sure MTV and VH1 are laughing hysterically at BET.
Janet did great!!
Stuff everybody thinking they know what she ought to have done. Unless ur brother was arguably the greatest artist of all time and u’ve been a star since u were what 4? Then u can relate and therefore cannot judge.
error – meant to say CAN’T relate.
ummm, excuse me……MJ, nor his legacy, ever touched me.
Out of the whole Jackson tribe, JANET was the only one I felt for! She was the closest to Mike and looked up to him since they were children. Plus her anguish seems way more genuine than the rest!
Strong Black Woman!!! I don’t know how she did that. Keep your head Janet!!!!
Keep your head up Janet!!!!
It is reall good to see my people converse about the bafoonery at the BET awards show. It shows that as a people, some of us understand the ramifications of what and how we present ourselves to others. Soon all of the coons will be left to look out after each other, because there is no room for them in a real caring and stable society. They promote ignorance and nonchallant attitudes concerning women, authority, laws, and citizenship. They live in their own little world and I emphasize little world. They make no contributions to society. They even exploit their own kidds out of their ignorance. (BET performance) As a people they set us back 50 years, because white people and other races tend
to catagorize all of us according to what they see in them. They are to stupid, dumb and ignorant to acknowledge this, because their only concern is getting paid. Even their kidds grow up ignorant and dumb, because after making all of their money they don’t even send them to the best schools to better the next generation. Instead they teach them the same thing that they know. (which is nothing) Name one rapper, who has sent their kidd on to an Ivy league school or for that matter a well recognized institute of higher learning. (Rev Run being the exception) Instead they say you can be a gangster rapper like your daddy, you don’t have to go to school and learn how to speak proper english. (Look at me your daddy I didn’t go to no schol or learded enguisshh and I made it)They also p***** on their Egos to their children, which do more harm than good.
GOD BLESS YOU JANET AND FAMILY I CAN FEEL THE HURT
Janet is STRONG beyonds words to do what she did…
I’ve been there and it really takes a LOT of inner strenght when you lose a loved one…..God bless bless their family. We love them !
WELL ILOVE MICHEAL LIKE MANY OTHER WHAT IDON’T UNDERSTAND WHERE THE JW’S WHY THEY NOT STEPPING IN GOD IS THE ONLY 1 THAT CAN JUDGE. THEY WERE THE 1′S THAT TURNED THEIR BACK ON HIM.FROM THRILLER.
NEVER TRIED TO GET BACK IN HIS LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!
aww stay srong babay girl, i cried when i saw this…it’s so sad i couldn’t do it
