i’m a new poster on bossip, but i feel the need to comment on this topic because i’m currently dating someone who has a child with an ex. like someone else said, it’s all about maturity. if things are really over between the child’s parents, there is no drama because both parties have moved on and are simply doing what they need to do together for the sake of the child; however, when there are things still lingering or if there’s never been any closure to the “baby mama/baby daddy” relationship, that’s when issues arise

I have seen a woman call the cops on her baby daddy because he was coming over to pick his kid up for the weekend.
The reason why she called the cops on him was because he did not pay her rent and bills, because she had a new man living with her.
She told the cops that he was coming over to beat her and that is why she dialed 911.
After the cops had him handcuffed and in the back of the car she was in the house laughing and saying she taught him a lesson and that he deserved it.
True story, because that ***** is my aunt and she is still a trifling mother*****er.
Receipts dawg!!! I swear by them. My baby mama got a mind full of silly games. She wasn’t letting me see my sons and we had to go to court. She told the judge I was a deadbeat and didn’t have time for my kids and wouldn’t come around. She was being slick and claiming welfare and saying I wasn’t nowhere around. The judge herself was even looking at me shady and was ready to give me the riot act and hit my pockets hard. But I popped out over $3,000 worth of receipts that basically wiped the look off her face and left my baby mama’s jaw wide open. After that, the judge ordered that I receive mandatory visitation so I’m with my kids three weekends out the month. She also got investigated by welfare and took a loss on that. this guy i am seeing now had soo many issues when he first broke up with him kids moms. she would just show up at his house, change plans on when she was suppose to have he kids last minute, when she knew he had plans.
she did stuff just to ***** him off. its been 6yrs now since they been apart though and she finally moved on… yesterday though, she called him from her now BOYFRIENDS phone and asked him if he had some money because hers had been cut off, lol. that was too funny.

Sis, that’s why I believe that it takes AT LEAST 2 years to get to know somebody…
Because in that time period something or a few things will happen that will allow you to see them for who they REALLY are and their true character…
Plus you get to see how they deal with stressful situations, how they handle money, etc…

Why would he think that that was okay to ask me? Because I’ve been nice to him…the COUPLE of times (if that much) I see him during the week? That’s ALL it takes for some men to start trying to leech off of you?
Now I understand we are facing hard times, but I’m not at all trying to have some guy laying up in my place “during the day”…paying “A bill up in here” GTFOH! I agree. I hope and pray to only have my children with one woman to whome I am already married. Things do not always go as planned, but it would be nice to have a developed relationship and a stable foundation to bring a child into.
I’ve seen it work out without the parents being married. However, 4 of my six god children’s parents aren’t together anymore and the drama is endless.
Most of this could be avoided if:
1) women stop letting dudes run-up in you raw dog
2) men stop running up in chicks raw dog
just because you want to hit it doesn’t mean you want to be tied to that person and their baggage.

This was very refreshing to hear because it is not the norm these days. I don’t think that people really think about the long term consequences of having children outside of a committed relationship. Some women have 3-4 baby daddys and some men have 3-4 baby mommas…and that’s NOT a good look.

I swear by them.” – receipts aint shi and can even be construed as a gift. my advice, if you aren’t going to be w/ a woman who has your child, put yourself on child support, as soon as the child is born, get your visitation in order and go by the book (do not just go by the state guidelines for visits, demand it be spelled out in the order). otherwise, you will end up in a world of hurt and back pay 7 years down the road. i would like to see more men *****ert their parental rights. child support has nothing whatsoever to do with visitation, so even if you aren’t paying or are behind, spend time w/ your kids and don’t let a rotten woman make your life hell for 18 years and if she still won’t let you see them, take her to court for contempt. (two can play that game for the trifling baby mother’s out there).
there is also safe exchange, for the ones who get fought, and get the police called when they are just trying to see their kids.

I have a friend who is engaged and her fiance’ JUST found out that he as a 5 year old daughter in another state (he literally found out like 2 months ago).
The baby’s mama was an old friend of his and she never told him she was pregnant. When he questioned her about why, she told him that at the time, she didn’t need him because one of her other children’s fathers (she has 5 kids by 5 different men) was taking care of them. Since he (one of the other fathers) found out the child he thought was his isn’t, he stopped giving her money, so now she needs him (my friend’s fiance) to step up to the plate to help out financially.

She was scared he would go to college and find a new love and forget about them since they were already having a hard time being together. She burned herself with an iron and told the police he did it. He was arrested and lost his scholarship. She joined the military and left b/c everyone in our small town wanted to kill her. He is a manager at smoothie king now. SMH

A few comments: As an attorney, receipts are better than nothing. Even if the court construes the receipts as a gift, the fact remains that you “gave” the child’s mother SOMETHING in the way of support and that goes a long way with the court system.
Two, I am happily married (for five years) to a man that I only dated for six weeks. Our marriage works because despite the short period of time, we have a great foundation. During that six-week period, we did not sleep together and focused on getting to know one another (hours-long conversations every day – whew!). Believe it or not, I knew this man better in six weeks than I have known men that I dated for years. The communication was on point, our views of important things (like family, money, child-rearing, work ethic, etc.) were practically similar, and most of all: this man treated me the way that I always wanted to be treated and we were both ready to settle down. Would I recommend getting married so quickly? No, every situation is unique. But at the same time, we shouldn’t fool ourselves: knowing someone is not so much about the quantity of time that you spend with them, but the quality of that time. What are you doing? Are you really getting to know how this other person works? Or are you “kickin it” (do people still say that? LOL) and not really talking about things that matter (no offense to anyone)?
Finally (and back on topic), my husband and I do not have any children, but he does in fact have a child with a woman that unfortunately, seeks to make our lives miserable. She would not let their daughter attend our wedding, will not let her visit because she fears that I am trying to take her place, and will not permit my husband to talk to his daughter for weeks at a time. It hurts me to see my husband in pain when he is unable to see or speak to his daughter (he actually shed tears one day). It hurts me that I am unable to form a meaningful relationship with his beautiful little girl. We are currently in the family court system now trying to resolve the issue. So many women complain about deadbeat dads, but I know of many instances in addition to my husband, where it is the woman who should be considered a deadbeat.

You knew they had ISSUES and weren’t worth a d@mn but they were puting it down so you ignored it. Most really sorry women and men hype up there sex game, because they have nothing else to offer you, then you fall for the woopty woop and are stuck with them. That lazy women, that couldn’t keep a job, treated people like trash because she thought she was a diva, and was always trying to get over on people probably won’t make a great mom, but then your dumb azz thought it was sexy and she gave good head. That sorry man that is unreliable, hasn’t held down a job for more than a month, already has kids he’s not taking care of, and generally don’t give a fck about life will not make a great dad, but you didn’t care when he was blowing your back out. I apologize i took your comment the wrong way, i actually have my sons this school year, to allow to her further her education in the field she’s in, we both know the importance of having both parents in their lives b/c both of us are products of single parent households, we my not live together she sees them every weekend, and when they were with her i talked to them everyday, pick them up every other weekend, had them for spring break christmas and summer vacations, so we try to keep it as normal as possible.

This is what the Hollywood Reporter is putting out:
The Michael Jackson funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, at Los Angeles’ Staples Center. Sources tell me that AEG Live, which owns Staples and next-door neighbor Nokia Theatre, will use both facilities and the surrounding plaza.
There’s no official confirmation yet, but I’m told all systems are go.
Insiders also say that AEG will put gigantic screens outside the facilities for the thousands who will not get inside. No word yet on how ticketing will be handled.
In order to do this, the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, scheduled to begin its run at Staples on July 8, had to be persuaded to postpone moving into Staples by several hours.

i’m 32 and I have no kids and I get the same looks. but i am not waiting to get married. i just don’t want kids. it just seems to tough and unrewarding even when you are married. i have never seen kids as something i MUST have to make my life complete like some people do. i like the kind of kids that GO HOME!

I’m sitting here in amazement of how easily this subject turned into a black/white thing. Baby momma drama is not confined to one aspect of society. It happens within all cultures. Bossip never mentioned anything about race in this piece but some how it ended up there.
I wish people would stop acting as if they are the spokesperson for black america just because they happen to be black. Especially the ones who say what does or does not happen in other cultures. To those I pose this question. How do you know?
I have lived in other countries for more than a year at a time I have intimate realtionships with people of other races, both of the same cultures and some of mixed ethnic backgrounds. I consider myself a pretty well rounded person in that aspect. These issues that are constantly attributed to being soley African American are in all actuality multi-cultural. I’ve seen it first hand. I’m friends with Jews, Turks, Africans, my godparents are from the Chec Republic, Hispanics, Asians, Jamaicans. I think you get the idea.
I just wish bossip had put up a pic of an Asian couple on top of the subject. I would love to see what the response would have been then.

I feel sad for men who have to go through this, and it is so true that it’s not always the man’s fault. My son’s father and I have a wonderful relationship, and even though we are not together anymore, I constantly tell my son how much his dad loves him. His dad doesn’t make a lot of money, but he does what he can financially, and spends the quality time with his son that’s needed. I wouldn’t even think of taking him to court, when it’s clear where his heart is.

This is a very tricky topic. Women can be aweful at times but more times than not the man is not being a man. A lot of times I just can’t understand how some people could find it plausible to even have a child. They know they are not together, they know they are a jumpoff but they think ohhh I got his baby now we can be together. A horrible home life leads to all types of bad decisions. It is so funny that we have this whole topic about “baby mamma’s” For all the men who have issues withthe mother’s of your children. Have you ever thought of raising your child on your own? What if women flipped it and left you with the children and bounced. And you had to hunt her down and she never responded. I wonder why they always talk about “single mothers” in the tone they do but never address “single fathers” because there is no epidemic when it comes to them. Women take the brunt of it all yet we have the nerve to be here discussing the issues of Baby mommas and their drama. If you don’t like the drama from your Baby Mama how about you volunteer to raise your children on YOUR OWN!

I agree with this, as well. Not that I don’t BM never get any slack, but I think it a lot of BM get coddled by women. There’s a complete difference between taking care of your man…actually who’s taking care of business (i.e. at work and home life) and pampering a man just because he happens to be born….a man and has done nothing for – because you have daddy or abandonment issues or you’re just desperate.
I agree that this type of treatment reinforces some of the pathetic behavior, including the contraceptive issue for today, BUT the hell if a woman should be responsible for a GROWN man’s bad judgment? I say if something unfortunate happened to the woman because of her enabling, she should have thought of going about it in a different way – for the sake of HERSELF, but what that man did he is still ENTIRELY accountable for, and BOTH are EQUALLY accountable if there are children involved.
Shifting blame and accountability for a grown man’s messed up decisions sounds just as bad as blaming a woman/man for getting abused by their partner. It’s like, “Yes, you’d get sick of the sob stories, esp. if there are no kids involved in the relationship to add difficulty to the situation, because the person should get out of it for the sake of THEMSELVES, but the HELL if it doesn’t make the abuser ANY less a dead wrong, a-hole for doing what they do. We know right from wrong and even if a person is “unsure” about something, if they are the one who ends up being in the wrong for hurting someone or not stepping up – THEY NEED TO TAKE RESPOSIBILITY FOR THEMSELVES, this is one of the parts of being an ADULT.
This is all I think DaHonestTruth is saying but it seems as if, for whatever, reason it keeps being interpreted as shifting ALL blame to BM, when all it is is trying to get people to own up to their OWN wrong doings – Men AND women.

We seem to be the main punching bag, that internally gets the blame for stuff, it’s just that you see a lot more BM in the public eye (sports, rap, etc.) BW don’t get as much shine…can’t even really say on music videos anymore.
