“Cool We Can Believe In”
Posted by Bossip Staff
Via The New Republic:
Just the other day Geraldine Ferraro was quoted as saying, “If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position, and if he was a woman [of any color] he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”
Never mind the fact that I agree with the folks at Bossip.com, that if Obama were white, the Democratic nomination would be over–and that if Hillary were black, she’d be Star Jones, and that if she were a black male, she’d be mayor of Detroit–it’s obvious that Obama’s candidacy isn’t solely a matter of timing. His political narrative is not the fictional happenstance that placed Douglass Dilman into the Oval Office in Irving Wallace’s The Man and cast Chris Rock into the Blockbuster bargain bin in Head of State. Barack has more going for him than good timing, the proper complexion, and the appearance of marital fidelity. He’s got cool, and cool is the ultimate transcendent.
YES WE CAN!!!

I still dont understand what they mean that he is “lucky” to be a candidate!!
how come no one is saying that about McCain?

at first I did not get the story now I see someone gave Bossip a shot out. Cool.
I believe in change
OBAMA TEXAN DELEGATE 2008
dang it!
LOL @ Ohplease
sorry!
I mean it is cool to say because he is black. I mean we are at a point where it is COOL to be BLACK and doing things. I would not get caught up in the bafoonery of her statement.
We can equally say that Hillary would not be this far if it were not for her Hubby.
Let’s just focus on the real issues at hand and that is the Political Warfare Game. ***** all that other dumb *****.
what? her statement is so racially fueled.. ‘and that if Hillary were black, she’d be Star Jones, and that if she were a black male, she’d be mayor of Detroit–it’s obvious that Obama’s candidacy isn’t solely a matter of timing.’
can of worms
If Obama keep winning like he’s doin’ I might just start drinkin’ the Kool Aid. LOL. Keep goin’ O. You may make history dog. And I’ll be the first to tell er’body in my hood if you pull it off mane. Damn…… imagine that, a black man as P.O.T.U.S.
Who cares, but just saw his daughter on W e al t h yR o m a n c e.c o m. What is she looking for on that site??
Im equally surprised that obama and michelle havent said anything about these old school photos being displayed like this. talk about a blackmail photo. LMAO
Again, someone needs to be gully and tell Geraldine Ferraro that if white people weren’t so racist from day ONE then half of them wouldn’t be in the position of power and/or wealth they’re in today. Blacks built the foundation of this nation on their blood & sweat and we ain’t got ish to show for it. Now we got OBAMA blazin’ that Presidential trail and she wanna act simple?!?! STFU Ferraro!!
What about the sick stuff his Rev. Jeremiah Wright said? All Bossip wants to talk about is Geraldine Ferraro. All she did was make an observation. Some voters do like Obama for the simple fact that he is Black. Others because of his unique name. Just as some voters prefer Hillary because she is a woman. Not all people vote based on race or gender, but some do. Anyway, my point is if Bossip is going to continue to talk about Geraldine Ferraro, why not show a video of the hateful sermon given by Obama’s Reverend Jeremiah Wright?? I do not think we are allowed to post links to Youtube videos on here, but you can find it on there.
They are well match each other. He is very hot, she is very beautiful and sexy. It is said that they met on celeb m i n g l e . com Is it true?
@ Jahpson…
“Im equally surprised that obama and michelle havent said anything about these old school photos being displayed like this. talk about a blackmail photo.”
How old are you? You couldn’t TELL the Obamas they weren’t stylin’ back in those days!! LOL
@notorious
I agree.

The difference is that Geraldine Ferraro WORKED for Hillary’s campaign and therefore she’s a reflection of Hillary and what she’s supposed to represent. Rev. Wright is just expressing his personal opinion. On the flip side, Obama’s advisor, Samantha Powers WAS fired and vilified in the news for calling Hillary a ‘monster’ so it does work both ways.
Obama talks of change and it will be up to us to make that change with him.
do your part!
Obama ‘08
BTW-When Geraldine Ferraro was running for the vice presidency she was discriminated much more back then not only because she was a woman, but because she was an Italian-American. People were making so many stereotypes and biased statements against her. African-Americans rights are protected against discrimination to a certain extent because white people are afraid to say anything because they know right away that Al Sharpton or somebody else will start labeling them racist and try to destroy their career. Other ethnic groups do not have their rights protected for the simple fact that they are White. Which is why Halle Berry was allowed to go on Jay Leno and show a distorted picture of herself where she had a long nose and say she looked like her Jewish cousin.
@ Jahpson…
You gonna be looking back at some of your old photos in 20 years and be like, “WTF was I thinking!?!?!” LOL

Great Obama video… Even I was blown away/
He’s my man….but ain’t nothing cool about that “outfit” in the picture.
By the way, Ferraro and the Clinton’s want to inject race into the campaign to polarize her constituency and pad her argument to super-delegates. This whole argument will play well in Philly where there are visceral and longstanding ethnic tensions. It’s politics pure and simple. Those people are not interested in reconciliation and progress of blacks or whites; they are into their own self-aggrandizement.

Did you see this couple’s photos at a site named Richromances.com?
@ Jahpson…
Yeah but the flip side is that some of the older voters that are probably STILL dressin’ like that are feelin’ that EXTRA connection w/ him. You know some peeps don’t progress and stay stuck w/ certain styles…LMBAO!
@ Notorious- The stuff Rev. Wright said was very anti-American. It was filthy and disgusting. He even said, “Bill Clinton did us like he did Monica Lewinsky.” Then, he started pretending like he was humping onstage. What kind of person would do that in a church? This is the church Obama has belonged to for 20 years. He has described Rev. Wright as being like an uncle to him. I am sure Obama has heard this man give other hateful, angry sermons in the past twenty years. This Reverend also prayed with Obama before he decided to announce his bid for the presidency, married him and his wife, and baptized his children. BTW- He also worked for Obama. He was on his African-American committee. What Geraldine Ferraro did was express her opinion on the fact that Obama’s color has been to his advantage. If you do not believe that to be true, look at what ended up happening to John Edwards. Rev. Wright was preaching hate and there is no comparing that to one comment made by Geraldine Ferraro, which all white people think anyway because most Black people are voting for Obama just based on his color.
I vote for Jesus!! We need more of Him America.
ROFLMAO @ Notorious One
and I do still see some old folks who dress like that!!
Obama for 08!!!! Now, is it me or does Michelle Obama strikes you as one of those regal elegant black woman with cl***** by the pound, but she will straight cut your ***** if you even come to Barack any kind of way..lol..i love that about her.
@Notorious- That is why O.J. is free and continues to abuse these stupid women that go with him. A few months ago, his current girlfriend ended up in the hospital for a head injury and she ended up having a brain damage, but of course they believed O.J.’s phony excuse. Also, R.Kelly has a video tape of himself having sex with a thirteen year old. The evidence is there! I do not know why they are having this big trial. A White man would have already been sent to jail. Years ago, A Polish American film maker by the name of Roman Polanski had to flee to France where he still is to this day because he was accused of going with an underage girl. Roman did not have a video tape! What about the Jena 6? They got a break for beating the ***** out of some kid who had nothing to do with the nooses being hung.

Halle’s ***** was crying and apologizing all over television over what she said – you know someone told her what was up, that she might see some of those roles dry up if she didn’t explain/apologize.
I have to ask the person who said Geraldine Ferraro faced criticism, etc.. when she ran, did she face death threats as well? I’m going to have to do my research on it, but I’ll venture to say that she didn’t deal with half the crap that Barack is dealing with.
1. What exactly is the “sick stuff” that Jeremiah Wright said? Let’s *****yze it.
2. When was it said?
3. Why blame Obama for his pastor’s views? Was he speaking at an Obama event?
Besides, people are over-the-top with this renounce and reject mentality. A mature adult, listening to any minister, should be critical of what they hear from the pulpit. The same people who criticize Obama’s minister–who affirms African American culture and experience without being anti-white–give Fallwell, Hagee, and Pat Robertson a p***** and these ministers have made some of the most ignorant and wreckless comments about America you will ever read.
Again, people are entitled to their opinions, regardless of how vile & disgusting they might be. But when you WORK for someone you are seen as a reflection of that person.
And just the fact that she’s saying that he’s in his position because he’s black is negating everything else he’s done in his life to put himself in that position, his education, his hard work, EVERYTHING!
You say “which all white people think anyway because most Black people are voting for Obama just based on his color.” Now that is generalization at its WORSE. How do you know this? Stats? Polls?
lol@Mo
We can certainly use some Jesus, but the last time I checked Jesus wasn’t running for office.

This “election” is a terrible movie that is on repeat. This all happened before, same script. Obama is the young hot shot that will save America and its economy and will be the breath of fresh air that America needs (sounds like bill in 92. Mccain will be the experienced hero that is for fundamentals/conservative values that will continue to drive the economy down (George Bush Sr.), who won in the last movie? you got it, Bill Clinton, therefore Obama i know for a fact will win the presidency. I purposely left Hilary out because she is irrelevant, she is simply a ***** that will play the evil role to make Obama look good to the public eye and make the public more open to the Bills that he will propose as president. My words are sure and the will come to fruition. We will have our first black president sworn in on January of 09, let just hope he sticks to plans while in the white house.
UMMMM. He did work for Obama. Also, lets change the story around. What if this was Hillary’s preacher saying all this stuff, but instead of speaking Black Nationalism he was speaking White Nationalism? She would be done. Now, I am speaking from a non-biased point of view. I do not support Obama or Hillary. Anyway, it is just something to think about.
X u crazy.. i smh at 1/2 the shyt my pastor be saying – i stay at the church cause the church got it right but that was ole boys personal views, ain’t got nothing to do with obama ..
@ X…
I addressed the O.J. situation a few days ago. How many white males admitted to and were witnessed by MOBS of people hanging a black man yet they were NEVER convicted? How many white cops have shot and killed unarmed black men and have gotten acquitted? And we’re told that “it’s the justice system and we have to be respectful of its decision?” But when O.J. gets away w/ it white people are in an uproar and wanna change the rules to the justice system?
@ X…
“What if this was Hillary’s preacher saying all this stuff, but instead of speaking Black Nationalism he was speaking White Nationalism?”
Hillary’s pastor would NOT have to speak white nationalism because this country perpetuates white nationalism EVERY DAY!!
@Notorious- I know this because over 60% of Black voters in Mississippi polled that race was important to them when selecting a candidate. Did you see some of the other polls on election night? Most Obama supporters that do not live in Illinois know nothing about him. I live in Chicago and since he has been Senator, I can not think of one thing he has done except announce he was running for President. Also, the man votes ‘present’
on almost every single issue instead of voting ‘yes’ or ‘no’.
Does not have to, but he could. Rev. Jeremiah does not have to either, but he does. Blacks and Whites have the same rights today. Racism, a collective mindset, and discrimination will always exist behind closed doors, but when a Church clergy member brings it out into the open like that, it is wrong. Churches are not even allowed to publicly endorse a candidate because they will lose their tax exempt status, so it will not be shocking when the IRS audits him.
More than anything else, this proves what backstabbing, lying, wolves in sheep’s clothing, deceitful people the Democrats are. They are even worst than the Republicans, because the Democrats always try to hide what they truly are. They think we are stupid and are owned by them and will vote for them no matter what. I don’t trust either party and I wish more than anything, that we will stop with the crabs in the barrel thinking about the Dems. and show them once and for all, if Obama doesn’t get the nomination, that their days of having 90% percent support from us are over. We need to branch out into different parties for a change. Join the Republicans and the independents and try to invoke changes from within those parties. I am sick too death of these lying , racists Democrats.
@X
You’re killing me with this emphasis on race, man. First, it is not called black nationalism. Black theology is not born out of “black nationalism,” although it addresses it. Black churches/theology started because blacks were not allowed to worship with whites. It also affirms A.A. culture and experience because blacks were denegrated and dehumanized in America. Black affirmation has never been about being anti-white. So, if Hillary’s white pastor were to engage in white nationalism she would be doing the very thing that help to give birth to what Wright speaks against. Wrights church is integrated and whites visit all the time.
peace
If White nationalism perpetuates everyday, how come Don Imus lost his job, yet people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are celebrated?
@RAY RAY- So there should be double standards for Blacks and Whites? Blacks like Farrakhan can hate openly while David Duke has to remain in the closet. You make alot of sense.
@ X…
“I know this because over 60% of Black voters in Mississippi polled that race was important to them when selecting a candidate.”
Race was important but your statement “just based on his color.” makes it seem like it’s the ONLY reason they voted for him.
And the majority of Americans don’t even know who their state Senators are. As for the voting, don’t believe the hype. I was a poli-sci undergrad and I did a semester in Washington and I can tell you that most of the Senators, and politicians for that matter, are full of ish! So you can’t even BEGIN to single out Obama for his voting record. Most Senators vote ‘yay’ or ‘nay’ based on the benefits they can exact from the Committee or Senator putting forth that legislation. It’s the most crooked system there is in the free world but most people don’t ever see the inner workings so they just go by the sound bytes that they’re fed.
There is no need for Black nationalism, as there are no White slave owners alive today and the segregation of the 50’s and 60’s is over. Also, is it fair that there is a day off for MLK day while Italian Americans do not get a day off for Columbus day? That shows you that this White government Rev. Wright hates is forced to be in favor of the Black man and the other minorities, the Native Americans who complain about Columbus Day.
@ X…
“Blacks and Whites have the same rights today.”
Are you serious w/ this statement?
There are lots of White ethnic groups, especially Jews who were also discriminated against in this country, yet they do not go on Anti- American rants like Rev. Wright did. Whatever, I guess Obama supporters just do not see the double standard.
@ X…
What Don Imus said had NOTHING to do w/ white nationalism, he was being derogatory towards those young ladies.
Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are not ‘celebrated’…but they DO exist because white cops keep killing unarmed black men. White people continue to perpetuate the racism that existed in this country from the onset, therefore people like Sharpton will continue to thrive. In a sense, Sharpton is a product of white people stupidity.
Black kids and White kids go to school together, work together, on my local news station there are probably even more Black Reporters than there are White ones. Barack Obama is taken seriously as a Presidential candidate. Both him and his wife were educated at Ivy League Universities in the 1980’s where there were also White people. That shows you that equality does exist today.
Yes, but there were White women on the basketball team to. Instead of labeling the statement as sexist, Don Imus was quickly labeled a racist.
why come the camel on the christmas tree aint got no hump[s]? hmmm, Hussein? what’s really good dawg
@X
There is nothing in my statement that says double standard. Black theology and black power have never been about black supremacy. These movements were about black equality. This is where the affirmation of blackness comes emerges in this society which explicitly and implicitly says blacks are somehow less than whites. White nationalism, simply study the history of these white nationalist groups, is and has always been about white supremacy. These are attempts to maintain a type of hegemonic presence in America. There is nothing wrong with white-ethnic studies which affirm “whiteness” in a positive sense. I have friends who study in this area. However, one must be careful to contextualize his or her discussion of the issues.
@ Notorious- I think Black cops are also just as violent even in their own neighborhoods. A few weeks ago a Black cop pushed a paralyzed White man out of his wheel chair. Where was Jesse Jackson then? The story was quickly ignored by the media. I can guarantee you if a White cop had pushed a paralyzed Black man out of his wheel chair, we would still be hearing about it on the news today.
@ X…
“There are lots of White ethnic groups, especially Jews who were also discriminated against in this country, yet they do not go on Anti- American rants”
Why would the Jews go on anti-American rants when the U.S. government, read that U.S. GOVERNMENT, is the biggest supporter of EVERYTHING Jewish…including Israel. The U.S. provides the most financial and military support to Israel than ANY other country on the face of this planet!
@Troy
That Camel has a hellified neck.
“proper complexion” my *****. Bossip’s up to its usual racists-rants.
Hey, I’m sorry, but I think Reverend Jeremiah Wright is a damn fool. He should keep his mouth shut about his feelings on 911 and any other suspect disaster that can hurt Obama. You don’t always say what you think (even if it is true) when you know that your enemies are listening and can take what you say and use it against somebody. I was on BlackAmericaWeb.Com and this person wrote about how Preachers, Pimps and Politicians are practically one and the same and are the biggest egomaniacs walking the earth. I agree. Put a camera on a preacher and nine times out of ten he will act a fool bigger than he usually does. This Reverend Wright is a straight up liability and Obama needs to change churches because this kinda ***** is gonna upset a lot of people. Preachers think it is all about them and they love to be on display and are too stupid to realize that what they say will hurt the very person they are trying to defend.
I am out. People need to learn how to look at things from the other person’s point of view. All I am saying is do not get down on somebody like Geraldine Ferraro for saying what she said, when there are other people on the other side saying far worse stuff. Obama and Hillary fighting is not going to get an uninsured child health care. It is not going to improve our economy either. Just yesterday a Euro dollar is now worth $1.56. Gas has gone up to over $110 dollars a barrel. It was said that once it went over $50, our economy would be messed up.
Good afternoon all…
@ X…
“Black kids and White kids go to school together, work together”
The difference is that the black kid cannot go to college because his mother and father work menial jobs because back in the ‘50s & ‘60s when they were top notch high school students it didn’t matter because they couldn’t go to college and they definitely couldn’t go to law school or med school, so instead they had to take jobs cleaning white people’s houses. Meanwhile those C- white students WERE able to go to college and law school and med school because there was NO competition. Fast forward to 2008 and these same C- white students are now partners at law firms and top notch doctors and they’re paving the way for THEIR kids to go to law school and med school. Guess where those black parents are today? STILL WORKING menial jobs because the system denied them an education. So guess what happens to their kids? EXACTLY! So when you say that “the segregation of the 50’s and 60’s is over.” you’re forgetting to mention the ripple effects that might have had on MILLIONS of black people that were denied a higher education.
@ X…
“A few weeks ago a Black cop pushed a paralyzed White man out of his wheel chair.”
My point exactly, you’re talking about a black cop pushing a paralyzed white man out of his chair and I’m talking about white cops KILLING black men. NUFF SAID!
@ Lauren…
What’s good beautiful?
@ X
You current posts are making the point of the problem with injecting race into a campaign. The discussion naturally polarizes because people begin to address a multitude of issues surrounding America’s racist past without addressing the issues of the Campaign itself. There are a million people just like you, X, trying to exorcise and field all of their longstanding gripes about equality and race–without properly contextualizing their gripes within America’s history. Ironically, this particular push towards “colorblindness” contributes to the same kind of inequality we currently see in America because the issues have not been addressed comprehensively.
Obama is wise to avoid this issue in a campaign. It’s a lose-lose situation.
peace
X you right about that, cops have a certain personality that tend to be…..yall fill in the blanks. But I gonna tell you, I admire Black cops because they gonna put up with a lot of ***** from these **********in thugs terrorizing the commuities. These kids that aren’t raised right by anybody with common sense, so they go out to the streets acting like animals, hurting folks left and right, and the Black cops gonna be the ones to take the flak and try to protect the neighborhood from hoods. These dirty *****s down their in South Carolina and Alabama killing college students then trying to cash out their ATM cards, now what kinda ***** is that??? We Real Black people should be up in arms about all these trifling *****s destroying our image in this country. Cause I swear to God, these ***** criminals(notice I don’t call these mother*****ers Black, cause they ain’t) are our worst enemy and they should be the ones we trying to lock up and throw away the keys for. All of em young and stupid and don’t wanna get a job to work for a livin they rather put a bullet in somebody’s head, steal their car and bank card and go to jail because to them prison ain’t about nothin. I swear to God, I hate these *****s criminal killers as much as I hate any racists. Believe that.
There are lots of White people in the same situation especially people whose parents immigrated to this country. Not every White person has been here for generations or is extremely rich.
Notorious One you need to talk about all these Black men killing these white college students and *****. If it was the other way around, all hell would break loose and you know it. I don’t know about where you live but in Detroit Black cops kill Black men all the time.
Of course not every white person has ben here, but that does not mean they do not enter a racially charged environment with existing inequities and unresolved issues.
@ X…
“do not get down on somebody like Geraldine Ferraro for saying what she said”
People are getting down on Ferraro cause she’s belittling all of Obama’s accomplishments and basing his success SOLELY on his race. Like black folks can’t do ish w/out a handout. He EARNED his position through hard work & determination!
White folks accomplish ish and it’s because of their hard work but black folks do it and we’re just getting a handout cause we’re black? FUGG THAT!!
@ Notorious- What about Hispanics in this country too? I agree with what you said. It is much easier for somebody to go to a good college with average grades when their parents already are professionally employed making good money. Other people have to rely on loans or scholarships, which most of the time are not enough. By equality, I was trying to say that given the opportunity, both Black students and White students can go on to do the same thing.
@ X…
“There are lots of White people in the same situation especially people whose parents immigrated to this country.”
Fact stands that as early as the ‘60s these same immigrants didn’t have to drink at fountains labeled ‘colored only’…and these immigrants didn’t help build the foundation of this country like the blacks did. And they STILL had more rights than blacks.
@Shirley
The problem with your statement is it appears you have concluded that black men killed these white college students because they were white. Oh, and we should be aware that black cops who parti*****te within such an apparatus of power end up displaying the same type of behavior that white cops display. Ideologies of power tend to trump race.
peace out!
@ X…
“By equality, I was trying to say that given the opportunity, both Black students and White students can go on to do the same thing.”
Again I disagree w/ you. Based on studies done, a black couple w/ the same or better income and equal or better credit score than a white couple is STILL less likely to get a home mortgage loan approved. Which I’m sure goes the same for education loans.
Well, John Edwards had alot of accomplishments too. In 2004, he won South Carolina because he was from south Carolina. Then, Obama comes along and it is much more appealing to vote for the Black man. It is not just the Black community that finds his color appealing, but White Liberals as well. Yes, Obama is a very talented person who has accomplished alot and he is a hard worker. He has gotten young people who were otherwise not interested in politics involved, but you can not deny that his color and his age are also a factor which attract voters to him. She definitely worded that wrong. The point is, what was a disadvantage years ago is now an advantage to him.
@ Shirley…
“you need to talk about all these Black men killing these white college students”
There’s no need to talk about that because the justice system is gonna lock these black kids up, deservedly so, for the rest of their lives. White cops shooting UNARMED black men are being acquitted and given back their jobs.
The times have changed and people have changed as well. I do not agree with what she said because when Jesse Jackson was running, he was not a success like Obama has been. Color is not the only factor in his success, but I do not think what she said was racist.
@ X…
And I agree w/ you, under different cir*****stances John Edwards would have probably fared a whole lot better. But you can’t discount the fact that MORE white are voting for Obama and furthermore, more blacks AND whites are, for once, actually eager and willing to go out and vote. Which goes back to my point, a lot of people, black & white, are energized by Obama’s push for CHANGE, something we desperately need. But for Ferraro to say that he’s only where he’s at cause of the color of his skin?!?! That just smacks of racist.
@ X…
“Color is not the only factor in his success”
So after all this we DO agree!! That’s been my point all along. What Ferraro said made it seem like his success was ONLY due to the color of his skin. Which is why people are taking it as a racist comment.
Honey, come to Detroit and every other major urban city and you’ll see Black cops killing black men all the time and these cops get their jobs back just as fast. The damn problem is the black, or I should say, so-call black criminal element that makes it hard for all black men. They create the worst stereotype and them the ones yall need to rant against I’m tellin you and its the truth!
@ X…
“Yes, Obama is a very talented person who has accomplished alot and he is a hard worker. He has gotten young people who were otherwise not interested in politics involved, but you can not deny that his color and his age are also a factor which attract voters to him.”
Had she said that statement above that you just said, personally, I don’t think it wouldn’t have been a big deal. But she’s discounting his hard work and his accomplishments and saying it was SOLELY based on the color of his skin.
I am just happy Geraldine is shutting the hell up for the moment. What the hell is wrong with her? It was like she couldn’t control herself.
I agree with Keith Obermann (sp.) from yesterday.
And yes Obama does have a certain cool to him, and even with all that has been going on in terms of the racial and sexist tension as well as the mud-slinging and low blow campaigning, he has definitely remained calm under pressure….cannot say the same for Billary.
Don’t sleep on the intangible value of “COOL”.Many people who are competent have not this component…and suffer.
Ooops…meant to say, “I don’t think it would have been a big deal.”
@ Shirley…
Thanks for the invite, but I’m from Brooklyn, New York sweetie, you might have heard about oh I don’t know, Amadou Diallo, Sean Bell, Anthony Baez, Patrick Dorismond…
Yes honey I know all about them and I know about the countless others that never make the papers that are shot too. Boy down the street from me matter of fact. Like I say, Black cops do it all the time. Young black men to to step out and put the blame where this mess belongs and that’s the black criminal who destroy the black mans reputation and make them look like thugs no matter what. Rejoice everytime they catch em and speak out against the ones who rain down rack and ruin on our heads in our communities because unless the right black man speaks up against these criminals, our reputation is not gonna improve. Black & white cops gonna be shooting black men forever because too many folks see a black man coming and expect the worst and you can blame the black thug, no-good piece of trash criminal for that baby.
@ Shirley…
And I agree w/ you on the black criminal element, that’s why New York City has the highest taxes in the world, so we can pay for a police force to take care of this. But how can I fully support something that might turn a gun on me one day and kill me because I dropped my wallet (Amadou Diallo), or because I was walking through a door on a rooftop (19 year old, Timothy Stansbury), or because I was in a warehouse that was being investigated and some white cop came up on me and for some reason his first reaction was to shoot to kill (Ousmane Zongo).
The Black policemen from my neck of the woods do just as much shooting as the white police, and I am Black also. I co-sign about the Black criminal, they truly make me ashamed sometime.
@ Shirley…
Again, I feel you on your argument but does that mean that just because the criminal element exists in the black community it’s okay, or it’s justified, for a cop to view me, and everyone black man, as a thug when he approaches us?
@ Craig…
“I co-sign about the Black criminal, they truly make me ashamed sometime.”
And you’re right, I too feel ashamed when that ish happens. But at the same time does that mean when a cop approaches you he has the right to think you’re a criminal?
Black skin is thick and lush, sensuous to the touch, like satin and velvet made flesh. There’s only one patch of skin on a white man’s body that remotely compares to nearly every inch of a black man’s skin. The first time I caressed black skin, it felt like a luxury I shouldn’t be able to afford. I craved it more strongly than Carrie Bradshaw craved Manolo Blahnik shoes. That phrase, “Once you go black, you never go back” is all about the feeling of the skin.
@ Hold my pocket….I like that! You wrote it?
At the end of the day we’ve come across that fugg’d up black person or white person or Latino or Jewish person, but that doesn’t mean that you treat everyone w/ disdain. It’s about respect, you approach me in a respectful manner and I’ll respond in kind. But when cops approach me in the NYC it’s usually in an antagonistic or defensive type of way.
@Lauren..
lol you might not enjoy this, but it was written by a cream cheese tinted angelic swan. She decided to take a dip in my section of the pond..3 days later the effects of my gentlemen antics and expertise ravishing were apparent. She was back at my doorstep for more..
What an awesome picture. Pat Buchanan just published a column about Ferraro’s comment that I do not totally agree with but that is worth a check out. The link is Here.
Obama Obama Obama!!!
You know that bible verse about the wheat being taken up with the chaff? As long as so many black men continue to act like hoodlums and criminals, all of us will suffer. People won’t be able to differentiate between the good and the bad and will lump all of us up together, and that’s a problem. That’s why Chinese people teach their kids that what they do(bad)reflects badly on all of them. I run a business and I have been victimized so mant times by young, black men, my heart is almost hardened against them when I hear about a black man being shot, whether that man was good or bad, because too many of them do bad. The good Black men need to stand up more and speak out more against the bad ones. Stop letting these low-lifes define what we are.
Go to The Huffington Post via TMZ, to see what Pat Buchanan said.
@ Stand up Black man…
“Black men need to stand up more and speak out more against the bad ones. Stop letting these low-lifes define what we are.”
And I whole-heartedly agree w/ you 110% on that one…but at the same time the cops and the justice system has to meet us half-way.
I love this very dated picture of them! They are the cutest couple!!! YES WE CAN!!!!!
@ Stand up Black man. You are so right…if wished more young black men felt the same way. I am glad that we have a strong young black man who can be a role model and example to many to be and do better!
@ray ray
…the last time I checked, He was still in control…lol
My cousin is a policeman in Cleveland and he said he is so sick of young black men f**king up he don’t know what to do. I agree the awful ones make us all look awful, and the awful don’t give a damn, as a matter of fact, they laugh it off. We should be protesting against these horrible killings against whites as much as we protest the killings of blacks by whites. We just making things worst for ourselves.
@ Hold my pocket…..all that to say it was a stinky white girl? lol just kidding!
@ Melvin…
“the awful ones make us all look awful.”
Again, wholeheartedly agree w/ you 110%…but that doesn’t mean that cops and society should treat US ALL the same based on the actions of a few.
And people said he ain’t black enough… is them neck bones he throwing hot sauce on in that pic?
@simply ecstasy
lol…i didn’t even notice that. If he wins, cookout on the white house lawn…electric slide and all
@ Mo, u ain’t right! But I’ll be the first one there, I’ll bring the collard greens lol!….U know white ppl will be there too, they love them some Bar B Que’s….Hey the more the merrier, let bring everyone together!
It’s shameful that Obama has run in the Democratic party. Bunch of ingrates…
I just love this picture……
From the ole 1980’s drapes, to the pleated pants they both are wearing, and the nappy kitchen on stand up in the back of her neck, to the sincere “just love, no care in the world” smiles on their faces. I just love this pic. Black love at its finest……(Bill and Camille, Will and Jada, Oprah and Steadman, now Barack and Michelle)….gotta love it.
***** can we get a crawfish boil and a fish fry going too?!! He already said on some radio program that he loves Jay-Z’s American Gangsta album so he know what’s up! That would be so off the chain and really ghetto! I love it!!!!!
Obama 08
@simply ectasy… that’s some Louisiana hot sauce too!
@ Stand up Black man…
“Black men need to stand up more and speak out more against the bad ones. Stop letting these low-lifes define what we are.”
=================================
I agree completely.
yall crazy but on the real imagine Michelle having the white house smellin like greens on Sunday…our culture should be reverenced not criticized
who cares about the ifs, hillary is not black and obama is not white
@ Simply Ecstasy…
“is them neck bones he throwing hot sauce on in that pic?”
You know you wrong for that cause my a*s had to scroll back up to check it out. And it’s not just any hot sauce but LOUISIANA hot sauce so you know that ish was FIYAH!
@ Mo…
“If he wins, cookout on the white house lawn…electric slide and all”
^^^DEAD^^^
@ Lauren…
“I’ll be the first one there, I’ll bring the collard greens”
@ Southern Belle…
“can we get a crawfish boil and a fish fry going too?!!”
Y’all know I’m on the official, Obama Food Tasting committee so y’all can hook me up and I’ll p***** the word on up to him. LMBAO!
magnificent
Well, Hillary is getting her votes because of who her husband his…and we all have had enough of nepotism in the White House. WHITES voted for W. Bush b/c of who his farther is…obviously not for experience or the issues.
We all pick a candidate based on a plethora of reasons. It’s just that race has never been an option and neither has sex for that matter.
Truth be told, if Hillary was Black she would’ve been labeled as a “loud mouth winch” and if Obama was white he wouldv’e won the nomination already.
not neckbones… lol @ the comment tho.
It’s beef stew.
EBP and lots of EP that are voting for Obama are not voting for him because he’s black.
Would y’all vote for Al Sharpton ? Jesse?
(If Obama were not running.)
It’s so glad to see so many EBPs on this site. Or anywhere, for that matter. Simply a breath of fresh air. REally.
that doesn’t make sense. I don’t support Obama because of the experience factor and timing (the issues the country face).
If I did support Obama I would have to note that he appears to be intelligent while his decisions show that he probably gathers pertinent information, keeps diplomacyin mind, and weighs potential repercussions before he decides.
Important traits for any leader to have, but there’s is something missing. Under dire cir*****stances will he be able to negotiate, keep his stance, know when to change……
Your advisors can lead you astray…..look at Bush.
The campaign is the easy part compared to actually holding the office. You can see your opponents/ foes, and audience; through media, polls, and so forth. And change your gameplan accordingly.
It’s not going to be this easy with the weight of the world sitting atop the desk at the whitehouse.
Hell naw we wouldn’t vote for them hustlin lying preachers jessie and al. lying do nothings **********ers out to line their own pockets and don’t give a damn about *****ody but themselves. Them *****s never did an honest day’s work in their lives.
i have seen this news and pic at interracialresources.com which is a niche interracial dating site. It caused huge discussion there
some people want yo find his another in there
@Stand up Black man wrote, “That’s why Chinese people teach their kids that what they do(bad)reflects badly on all of them”
When I was growing up, that was still being taught in the black community — unfortunately it was moving to sports and not academics. But it used to be taught in the black community. I don’t know what happened between the older generation, who had to deal with the colored versus white drinking fountains ——- and their children, who saw those dismantled ——- and their grandchildren, who never saw those.
My own personal belief is also that things went bad when athletes and entertainers started buying charles barkley’s bull***** about ‘I shouldn’t be your child’s role model, you should be’ — because they weren’t saying it in order to uplift parents, but to excuse their own wrong doing. They didn’t consider there to be any consequences for their actions beyond the personal, therefore anything outside of the personal was ‘not my problem’.
That was *not* the attitude black folk had in the 50s and earlier.
I don’t know what happened. Loss of fathers in the home, the CIA importing drugs… and us being dumb enough to buy that *****, and *****ociate material wealth with success ‘American Gangster’ style regardless of morality (the couple times I’ve heard someone claim that it’s acceptable to accept a gift even if you know that it came with drug money or was stolen, I’ve cringed). White folks can afford to pull that mess.
We can’t. We absolutely cannot.
And I still love that photo of Barack and Michelle. Styles change. Their love for one another has only gotten better. Loving one another through thick and thin is a timeless cl*****ic.
Barack and Michelle’s example is needed now. Barack’s example is needed now more than ever. That’s why certain folks want to destroy them.
Booman, Jesse wasn’t always a race hustler. Jesse used to stand for something. Jesse spoke up for what was good. Jesse freed hostages. Jesse was an amb*****ador for the United States in places and ways Hillary Clinton only pretends.
Hillary Clinton talks ***** about her contributions to the world with no backing whatsoever.
Jesse Jackson LIVED THOSE CONTRIBUTIONS. And he still wasn’t considered ‘good enough’. Geraldine could still talk ***** about Jackson only getting to where he was because he was black. Nevermind that Geraldine never got anywhere except through the mob (how’s that for a stereotype that ends up being true) and being chosen strictly because she had a *****.
Geraldine denigrated all of Jesse’s hard work in the community, and for American, and for the world, where his life was in mortal danger; Geraldine dismissed all the work Jesse put in for the Democratic Party as being meaningless because he’s black. And Geraldine pulled the same ***** on Obama.
The Democrats are not our friends, my black brothers and sisters. We need to wake up. They are not down for us.
If Maryland and what they did to Kwame made you hit the snooze button and roll over to snore again, please open your eyes for what’s happening with Obama.
Hillary’s husband, Bill Clinton, sought to talk ***** about Jesse Jackson. The Clintons don’t love us, they just love our votes. They take our votes for granted. And they — along with the Geraldine Ferraros and mammy Sheila Tubbs Jones and stepin fetchit purveyors of filth Bob Johnsons — are trying to erase the good of Jesse Jackson from public memory.
Geraldine’s comment was insiduous PRECISELY because of what the Democratic Party did to Jesse, who was wildly popular in the 80s.
And now, the Clintons are once again trying to rewrite history. They remind me of the disturbed *****es who claim to have been raped when they weren’t. Come to find out, everything they claimed is the exact opposite of what really happened… but they get a p***** because they have a *****; and the man whose life they destroyed, is still destroyed.
Hillary Clinton is disturbed, and so is her campaign.
did michelle obama play for wnba? she looks like a basketball player. obama will not win because of his pastor. hillary may get the nomination because of this idiot, rev. wright.
One last thing (since I’m still in shock about The New Republic name checking Bossip, and then came back to earth after I read the reader’s comments after the story hehe):
Please compare how Obama has handled all of this versus Hillary Clinton.
When things get tight, and there’s another Cuban Missile Crisis situation, whom do YOU want handling the Crisis?
Cool under pressure, courteous Obama?
or
Psycho***** bipolar fly off the handle insult people blame the other guy ‘*****ody believes she’s really running her own campaign’ Hillary?
Do you see Putin ever making a comment about Obama, like he made about Hillary, after Hillary said Putin had no soul? (Putin narrowed his eyes, and said that a head of state should have a head — meaning, Hillary’s not using her brain.)
crazy black lady wrote, “did michelle obama play for wnba? she looks like a basketball player. obama will not win because of his pastor. hillary may get the nomination because of this idiot, rev. wright.”
Meanwhile, we’re supposed to look the other way from McCain’s own pastor, who is a Book of Revelations freak, and talks ***** about the hoping for the genocide of all Muslims among other *****. McCain’s pastor doesn’t speak for him (though I have a feeling he would if he were Huckabee’s, the establishment loves McCain more than it loves Huckabee)……..
Look deeper into the Wright controversy. They’re not really upset at Wright. They’re upset at all black people. They are afraid of all black people. Black people are not allowed to be upset. Black people must always be happy, or express their unhappiness in ways which don’t threaten non-black listeners.
Wright represents Obama represents all black people. The same is never done for whites.
Tell me, what do you disagree with, with what Wright said?
The source of this ‘outrage’ is the same source as the muslim = bad smears, the Obama is a *****e dealer smears, ******the Michelle Obama is anti-American smears, ***** even the Obama is gay smears.
Don’t be pulled in.
You know that in the fifties before all this integration liberal bull*****, black kids wanted to grow up to be doctors, engineers and lawyers. This was the era when our families were intact, worked hard and rejected welfare. When out-of-wedlock births was the exception to the rule. When Black men were the head of their households and raised their offspring to do well in school and to be responsible for your lives. Now all these single mother raised kids want to grow up to be rappers and b ballers. ***** school they say, imma be rich any way selling rocks. This older generation of black liberals *****ed up big time and still they don’t wanna change. It’s all about personal responsibility folks, I don’t care who disagrees with that, it’s the truth.
Nita will you shut the ***** up!! We all know you on Jessy’s payroll and out for youreslf just like he was all them years. I so tired of listening to you dumb***** , wannabe revolutionaries, you just as bad as al and jessy.
god damn america? so god wanted americans to die on september 11…please! god said “thous shall not kill” so why would he want a bunch of crazy muslims to kill 3,000 americans? rev. wright is a false prophet. pastor hagee is not the personal minister of john mccain. he accepted his endorsement…president john mccain get use to saying it!
“Barack Obama Isn’t Being Tested. White Americans Are Being Tested.”
(by David Zephyr, Democratic Underground)
We have ourselves a real learning opportunity right now in this country. And the test is not about Barack Obama. The test is about white Americans. I don’t know if we (white Americans) are going to p***** it. But it is almost divine, this test.
Barack Obama is only a man of his times. He can not change those white Americans’ hearts who will seek out excuses to rationalize their bigotry, their fear of people of color. He can not do that. As I said, he is a man of his times. And so we are about to learn a lot about these times, aren’t we?
If white Americans are looking for a reason — no matter how irrational or how great the double-standard may be — to justify their bigotry, then they will find their reason to justify their bigotry.
Barack is not the one being tested anymore. It’s white Americans who are being tested. Really tested.
How white Americans respond to this “clean” (Joe Biden’s curious term), brilliant African-American man — who has labored for those less fortunate because he so believed in this American dream, who has played by all the rules his entire life — how we respond will be revealing.
For as Barack Obama gets closer and closer to putting his hand the door of America’s big, boastful promise of equality, we will learn a lot about our fellow citizens and all about that promise of equality that we love to brag about.
Will my fellow white Americans judge this man on his character, his life’s work, his good soul? Or will we look for excuses to lock that door as he approaches? Will we grasp for any quick rationale, no matter how pathetic it may be, to grease our consciences?
How will we deal with this very good man, this faithful husband and father of two beautiful girls? You know, this decent and inspiring All-American family.
Will we concoct new standards at the last moment for him? Will we parti*****te in ugly gossip with our neighbors about this man of color?
Yes, we have ourselves here a real learning opportunity now. It’s a test for the whole world to watch.
And the test is not about Barack Obama.
The test is all about white Americans.
@Clyde, yes. But I blame the sexual revolution more. (tomato shields up, ha.) Poor women were always going to pay because they didn’t have the resources materially and community-wise more affluent women did in order to have sex without consequence.
Free love is all well and good as long as you not only know what you’re getting into, but have the resources to get yourself out. People shacking up without the benefit of marriage has profoundly hurt the black community.
There, I said it.
Shacking up has profoundly hurt the black community. The expectation that you could move on without any repercussions works if you’re rich; it doesn’t work if you’re poor. It doesn’t work if your culture is already in crisis education wise and jobwise.
White rich feminists and lesbians can get away with saying that marriage should be devalued.
The overall black community (a community in which so many women who are ‘living with someone’ not so secretly want that ring on their finger; and black men who should have been able to put that ring on their finger are given an out they shouldn’t be given, by their own mothers) cannot get away with it.
There will never be a black version of ‘Juno’. Certainly not one getting Oscars.
@ Clyde
So very on point. Co-sign.
@ Will
I beg to differ, Nita is one of the most informed, impartial, and intelligent Bossip.com supporters of Barack Obama. I do understand your frustration and anger at “psuedo-revolutionaries”, but in my humble opinion Nita is not deserving of your hostility.
I have a son and daughter that my husband and I hope to grow up to be as thinking and brilliant as some of the people posting on this board, notably Nita and Monotheistic Proof.
Obama 2008!
Yes We Can!
@willie wrote, “Nita will you shut the ***** up!! We all know you on Jessy’s payroll”
You can stop right there. I have condemned Jesse for longer than you’ve pretended to give a ***** about the black community.
But I don’t do it from a place of unreasoning hatred. I hate Jesse’s race pimping and racial blackmailing. I despise it, and have condemned it since I found out how deep it goes — it’s your choice as to whether the greater harm such racial blackmailing does to the black community versus those being given a racial indulgence is the greater sin or the lesser sin.
But I also know the good that Jesse has done, and that’s why his fall hurt so much, Willie. IT HURT. Jesse has doen things for the black community and for the Democratic Party that can never be repaid. I know that some of King’s inner circle thought he was an opportunist, but given how some of that inner circle has been acting….. I wonder if they really thought him an opportunist, or if they were ultimately just really troubled that Jesse would ‘usurp’ King’s ‘rightful place’… the same ***** being whispered by older heads about Obama usurpring King’s ‘rightful place’ and therefore he must be stopped because he hasn’t earned it!
I don’t know. But I don’t want anyone to forget the good Jesse has done. I don’t want anyone to forget that Jesse really was in harm’s way, and that it wasn’t enough. I don’t want anyone to forget the DISGUSTING BACKHANDED BACKSTABBING way the Democratic Party treated Jesse in 1984 and 1988 when it looked like this negro might actually win some *****!
The dream team should have consisted of Jesse and anyone. The Democrats wanted black votes, but didn’t want blacks in a position of true power. So Jesse was always only a ’shadow senator’, and never a real one. Even the Republicans had the ***** to send out Alan Keys to different places in order to mount senatorial challenges, even if their reasonings for doing so were racially suspect and ludicrously cynical.
Why didn’t the Democrats? particularly since Jesse is a lot more popular and a lot more an *****et to the Democratic party, than Keyes to the Republican.
We need to wake up about the Democratic Party. We need to remember. We need to look back. We need to re-evaluate. And we need to stop treating ourselves as two bit bottom ***** w*****s, as if that’s good enough.
Lovely and Amazing, you ain’t gotta go there for me. You making me blush now… if I could blush, ha ha.
You’re the one phone banking. If I had a real phone instead of only a cell phone….. but you’re reaching people in real time, in their real homes, voice to voice. You aren’t dealing with fake people like *****, trolls. You’re making a real difference.
Thank you, always.
Hey I’m from Detroit…. I don’t want the mayor we got now…. please don’t give us Hilary in any shape or form…. it’s time to get the crooks out… and I’m talking about Kwame and Hilary….
@ OBAMA’S ACOLYTES’
IT PAINS ME TO WITNESS THIS DISENTION AMONGST THE GREAT UNWASHED. YOU EXERTING ALL THIS P*****ION OVER THIS EMPTY SUIT, AND FOR WHAT? TO TELL YOUR FUTURE ILLEGITAMATE GRANDCHILDREN THAT YOU WERE THERE TO WITNESS THE FIRST VIABLE BLACK U.S. PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE PARTI*****TE IN A FUTILE EXERCISE IN FOLLY? YOU PEOPLE ARE A JOKE.
NO Y’ALL CAN’T!
VOTE MCCAIN IN 2008!
***** shut up! i’m voting for mccain because obama
is a crook and phony and hillary is evil. obama is opening doors for blacks like david paterson and patrick deval. stupid *****!1
Here are some quotes from Pastor Wright. The Confederate Yankee (figures) characterizes the following excerpts as “The displaced anger, bigotry, and hatred displayed is chilling.”
Is it? How many of us here have said the exact same thing? How many white people have said some of the exact same things? (I know that white dude got fired from the San Jose Mercury for telling the truth about the CIA and *****e……)
THIS ***** is supposed to be bigoted and racist against white people, though? I’ve seen what Pastor Wright has said echoed by many white so-called progressives. If these same so-called progressives genuinely have the oogies just because a black man is saying it instead of white
McCain’s people put this ***** out there… and they got an *****ist from the Clintons. Crazy Black Lady, I know you’re a troll, but this is for you in spite of that. This is also for anyone who is considering voting for McCain. This is how they think about you, too, that the following is unspeakable and anti-American instead of a call to examine who we (America) are, why we (America) are, and what we (America) can do to better ourselves.
But I’d like to hear what the white — and Jewish — members of Bossip have to say about this, as well. Maybe you all do have a different perspective on all this beyond ’scary negro’. Please relay it:
===============================================
“We’ve got more black men in prison than there are in college,” he began. “Racism is alive and well. Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run. No black man will ever be considered for president, no matter how hard you run Jesse [Jackson] and no black woman can ever be considered for anything outside what she can give with her body.”
Mr. Wright thundered on: “America is still the No. 1 killer in the world. . . . We are deeply involved in the importing of drugs, the exporting of guns, and the training of professional killers . . . We bombed Cambodia, Iraq and Nicaragua, killing women and children while trying to get public opinion turned against Castro and Ghadhafi . . . We put [Nelson] Mandela in prison and supported apartheid the whole 27 years he was there. We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God.”
His voice rising, Mr. Wright said, “We supported Zionism shamelessly while ignoring the Palestinians and branding anybody who spoke out against it as being anti-Semitic. . . . We care nothing about human life if the end justifies the means. . . .”
Concluding, Mr. Wright said: “We started the AIDS virus . . . We are only able to maintain our level of living by making sure that Third World people live in grinding poverty. . . .”
DrmKpr, what’s going on with the ‘*****’ controversy going on in Detriot now?
And why hasn’t Kilpatrick done the right thing and resigned after it was found out he was stealing from the city?

The McCain-Hagee Connection
Why is the press ignoring this hate-monger?
By Zachary Roth Fri 7 Mar 2008 02:27 PM
More than a week after John McCain’s endorsement by the anti-Catholic, anti-Semitic pastor John Hagee, the media continues to give the GOP nominee a free p*****.
Consider the following *****ouncements by Hagee, the man who McCain proudly introduced as an ally last week.
On Jews:
“It was the disobedience and rebellion of the Jews, God’s chosen people, to their covenantal responsibility to serve only the one true God, Jehovah, that gave rise to the opposition and persecution that they experienced beginning in Canaan and continuing to this very day.”
And:
“How utterly repulsive, insulting, and heartbreaking to God for his chosen people to credit idols with bringing blessings he had showered upon the chosen people. Their own rebellion had birthed the seed of anti-Semitism that would arise and bring destruction to them for centuries to come.”
On gays:
“All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are — were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment. And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.”
Hagee, of course, is also a virulent anti-Catholic, who has suggested that the pope is the anti-Christ, and that Adolf Hitler’s anti-Semitism was the result of being educated at a Catholic school.
One would think that when a leading presidential candidate proudly touts the support of such a figure, the issue would receive close scrutiny from the press. But last week, ********once McCain *****ured reporters that, just because Hagee was endorsing him, it didn’t mean he agreed with everything Hagee said, the mainstream media essentially let the matter drop.********** Chalk another up for the Straight-Talking candidate.
That’s all the more remarkable given the high-profile grilling Barack Obama has received on the subject of Louis Farrakhan. In a recent Democratic debate, Tim Russert asked Obama to reject Farrakhan’s support. And in January, Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen drew attention to the fact that a magazine controlled by Obama’s pastor had given an award to the Nation of Islam founder.
But so far, neither Russert nor anyone else at NBC News has seen fit to press McCain on the subject, and Cohen hasn’t chosen to write about it. **********And remember, Obama did nothing to solicit Farrakhan’s support, while McCain actively sought Hagee’s and appeared on stage with him.*********
We’ve asked both NBC News and Cohen whether they plan to, given their concern about Obama’s Farrakhan “ties,” and will let you know what we hear.
But wait! there’s more! Check out Hillary Clinton’s spiritual advisor. Maybe you agree with him, maybe you don’t, but the fact is. Hillary has NOT been grilled (and McCain got a p*****) — so why is Obama getting the grill treatment? Mother Jones link in the handle, thank you Progressive Economist of DU for bringing this up. Excerpts below:

Hillary’s Prayer: Hillary Clinton’s Religion and Politics
News: For 15 years, Hillary Clinton has been part of a secretive religious group that seeks to bring Jesus back to Capitol Hill. Is she triangulating—or living her faith?
By Kathryn Joyce and Jeff Sharlet
(snip) Through all of her years in Washington, Clinton has been an active parti*****nt in conservative Bible study and prayer circles that are part of a secretive Capitol Hill group known as the Fellowship. Her collaborations with right-wingers such as Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) and former Senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) grow in part from that connection. “A lot of evangelicals would see that as just cynical exploitation,” says the Reverend Rob Schenck, a former leader of the militant anti-abortion group Operation Rescue who now ministers to decision makers in Washington. “I don’t….there is a real good that is infected in people when they are around Jesus talk, and open Bibles, and prayer.”
Clinton’s faith is grounded in the Methodist beliefs she grew up with in Park Ridge, Illinois, a conservative Chicago suburb where she was active in her church’s altar guild, Sunday school, and youth group. It was there, in 1961, that she met the Reverend Don Jones, a 30-year-old youth pastor; Jones, a friend of Clinton’s to this day, told us he knows “more about Hillary Clinton’s faith than anybody outside her family.”
Because Jones introduced Clinton and her teenage peers to the civil rights movement and modern poetry and art, Clinton biographers often cast him as a proto-’60s liberal who sowed seeds of radicalism throughout Park Ridge. Jones, though, describes his theology as neoorthodox, guided by the belief that social change should come about slowly and without radical action. It emerged, he says, as a third way, a reaction against both separatist fundamentalism and the New Deal’s labor-based liberalism.
(snipped)
Niebuhr and Tillich’s combination of aggressiveness in foreign affairs and limited domestic ambition naturally led Clinton toward the gop. She was a Goldwater Girl who, under the tutelage of her high school history teacher Paul Carlson (whom Jones describes as “to the right of the John Birchers”), attended biweekly anticommunist meetings and later served as president of Wellesley’s Young Republicans chapter. Out of step with the era’s radicalism, Clinton wrote Jones from college, lamenting that her fellow students didn’t believe that one could be “a mind conservative and a heart liberal.” To Jones, this question indicated that Clinton shared Niebuhr’s notion of Christians needing to have “a dark enough view of life that they can be realistic about what’s possible.”
(snip)
Two decades later, while Bill was campaigning for president, Clinton picked up that theme once more, displaying a theological depth that conservative believers could appreciate. In an interview with the United Methodist Reporter, she expressed regret that her church had focused too much on social gospel concerns in the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s, “to the exclusion of personal faith and growth.” The spirit, believe theological conservatives, matters more than the flesh. Clinton added that she was happy to see her liberal denomination becoming more salvation centered in the ’90s.
(contd) (snip)
When Clinton first came to Washington in 1993, one of her first steps was to join a Bible study group. For the next eight years, she regularly met with a Christian “cell” whose members included Susan Baker, wife of Bush consigliere James Baker; Joanne Kemp, wife of conservative icon Jack Kemp; Eileen Bakke, wife of Dennis Bakke, a leader in the anti-union Christian management movement; and Grace Nelson, the wife of Senator Bill Nelson, a conservative Florida Democrat.
Clinton’s prayer group was part of the Fellowship (or “the Family”), a network of sex-segregated cells of political, business, and military leaders dedicated to “spiritual war” on behalf of Christ, many of them recruited at the Fellowship’s only public event, the annual National Prayer Breakfast. (Aside from the breakfast, the group has “made a fetish of being invisible,” former Republican Senator William Armstrong has said.) The Fellowship believes that the elite win power by the will of God, who uses them for his purposes. Its mission is to help the powerful understand their role in God’s plan.
Clinton declined our requests for an interview about her faith, but in Living History, she describes her first encounter with Fellowship leader Doug Coe at a 1993 lunch with her prayer cell at the Cedars, the Fellowship’s majestic estate on the Potomac. Coe, she writes, “is a unique presence in Washington: a genuinely loving spiritual mentor and guide to anyone, regardless of party or faith, who wants to deepen his or her relationship with God.”
(snip)
Coe has been an intimate of every president since Ford, but he rarely imposes on chief executives, who see him as a slightly mystical but apolitical figure. Rather, Coe uses his access to the Oval Office as currency with lesser leaders. “If Doug Coe can get you some face time with the President of the United States,” one official told the author of a Princeton study of the National Prayer Breakfast last year, “then you will take his call and seek his friendship. That’s power.”
“If you’re going to do religion in public life,” concurs Schenck, a Jewish convert to fundamentalist Christianity who’s retained his sense of irony, Coe’s friendship is a kind of “kosher…seal of approval.”
Coe’s friends include former Attorney General John Ashcroft, Reaganite Edwin Meese III, and ultraconservative Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.). Under Coe’s guidance, Meese has hosted weekly prayer breakfasts for politicians, businesspeople, and diplomats, and Pitts rose from obscurity to head the House Values Action Team, an off-the-record network of religious right groups and members of Congress created by Tom DeLay. The corresponding Senate Values Action Team is guided by another Coe protégé, Brownback, who also claims to have recruited King Abdullah of Jordan into a regular study of Jesus’ teachings.
(snip)
According to the Fellowship’s archives, the spirit has in the past led its members in Congress to increase U.S. support for the Duvalier regime in Haiti and the Park dictatorship in South Korea. The Fellowship’s God-led men have also included General Suharto of Indonesia; Honduran general and death squad organizer Gustavo Alvarez Martinez; a Deutsche Bank official disgraced by financial ties to Hitler; and dictator Siad Barre of Somalia, plus a list of other generals and dictators. Clinton, says Schenck, has become a regular visitor to Coe’s Arlington, Virginia, headquarters, a former convent where Coe provides members of Congress with sex-segregated housing and spiritual guidance.
(snip)
We contacted all of Clinton’s Fellowship cell mates, but only one agreed to speak—though she stressed that there’s much she’s not “at liberty” to reveal.
(contd) (snip) (yeah, I know, *****ody reads this *****, but I want it on the record anyway — just to underline and underscore the hypocrisy of what’s going down against Obama and Wright… and draw lines that are not being given to us poor schmucks the voters, about what’s really going down, here, and who’s involved and why it’s bull***** to think that D and R means anything anymore):
Throughout her time at the White House, Clinton writes in Living History, she took solace from “daily scriptures” sent to her by her Fellowship prayer cell, along with Coe’s *****urances that she was right where God wanted her. (Clinton’s sense of divine guidance has been noted by others: Bishop Richard Wilke, who presided over the United Methodist Church of Arkansas during her years in Little Rock, told us, “If I asked Hillary, ‘What does the Lord want you to do?’ she would say, ‘I think I’m called by the Lord to be in public service at whatever level he wants me.’”)
(snip)
Coe counsels that Fellowship cells shouldn’t engage in direct evangelical activism, but rather allow Christian causes to benefit from the bonds that develop within the cells. Former Nixon counsel Chuck Colson provides a rare illustration of the process in his 1976 Watergate memoir, Born Again. Facing prosecution in 1973, Colson allowed Coe to ensconce him in a Fellowship cell with a Nixon foe, Senator Harold Hughes. Hughes became the Nixon hatchet man’s staunchest defender, voting in favor of a possible pardon for Colson and later supporting Colson as he built Prison Fellowship, now one of the most powerful organizations of the Christian right.
That’s how it works: The Fellowship isn’t out to turn liberals into conservatives; rather, it convinces politicians they can transcend left and right with an e*****enical faith that rises above politics. Only the faith is always evangelical, and the politics always move rightward.
(snip)
Unlikely partnerships have become a Clinton trademark. Some are symbolic, such as her support for a ban on flag burning with Senator Bob Bennett (R-Utah) and funding for research on the dangers of video games with Brownback and Santorum. But Clinton has also joined the gop on legislation that redefines social justice issues in terms of conservative morality, such as an anti-human-trafficking law that withheld funding from groups working on the sex trade if they didn’t condemn prostitution in the proper terms. With Santorum, Clinton co-sponsored the Workplace Religious Freedom Act; she didn’t back off even after Republican senators such as Pennsylvania’s Arlen Specter pulled their names from the bill citing concerns that the measure would protect those refusing to perform key aspects of their jobs—say, pharmacists who won’t fill birth control prescriptions, or police officers who won’t guard abortion clinics.
Clinton has championed federal funding of faith-based social services, which she embraced years before George W. Bush did; Marci Hamilton, author of God vs. the Gavel, says that the Clintons’ approach to faith-based initiatives “set the stage for Bush.” Clinton has also long supported the Defense of Marriage Act, a measure that has become a purity test for any candidate wishing to avoid war with the Christian right.
(snip)
Nita, Kuame is too stubborn to step down. Like Bush not saying that I made a mistake and there was never WMD (weapons of m***** distruction). It’s pride and ego.
(contd)(snip)(remember, Obama is damned by a lot of Hillary supporters for ‘reaching across the aisle’……. for not being a fighter who will bring hell and damnation against the Republicans; why isn’t Hillary?)
==============================================
But the senator’s project isn’t the conversion of her adversaries; it’s tempering their opposition so she can court a new generation of Clinton Republicans, values voters who have grown estranged from the Christian right. And while such crossover conservatives may never agree with her on the old litmus-test issues, there is an important, and broader, common ground—the kind of faith-based politics that, under the right cir*****stances, will permit majority morality to trump individual rights. The libertarian Cato Institute recently observed that Clinton is “adding the paternalistic agenda of the religious right to her old-fashioned liberal paternalism.” Clinton suggests as much herself in her 1996 book, It Takes a Village, where she writes approvingly of religious groups’ access to schools, lessons in Scripture, and “virtue” making a return to the cl*****room.
Then, as now, Clinton confounded secularists who recognize public faith only when it comes wrapped in a cornpone accent. Clinton speaks instead the language of nondenominationalism—a sober, eloquent appreciation of “values,” the importance of prayer, and “heart” convictions—which liberals, unfamiliar with the history of evangelical coalition building, mistake for a tidy, apolitical accommodation, a personal separation of church and state. Nor do skeptical voters looking for political opportunism recognize that, when Clinton seeks guidance among prayer partners such as Coe and Brownback, she is not so much triangulating—much as that may have become second nature—as honoring her convictions. In her own way, she is a true believer.
hagee is not mccain’s personal pastor. hillary opposed the 1964 civil rights act. she’s a racist. obama is crazy. his mother was white. she raised him as well as his white grandparents and he supports a man who demonizes them. maybe, his white grandparents mistreated him or subconsciously he hates his white mother. he wasn’t
with her when she was dying. he comes across as being abnormal. HE NEEDS COUNSELING AND HIS UGLY WIFE AS WELL!
@Anna, well, Kilpatricks’s stubborn ego is hurting Detroit, and hurting the black community. He needs to do the honorable thing and step the ***** down.
What can be done to help facilitate it? Is there no one in Detroit who can get through to him, or lead a censure against him, you know — pressure?
Who would lead Detroit, if Kilpatrick did the honorable thing?
the REAL IF…
if people liked Hillary more than Obama, she’d have more votes.

Wright leaves Obama campaign
Spokesman Tommy Vietor emails:
“Rev. Wright is no longer serving on the African American Religious Leadership Committee.”
That cuts Wright’s only formal tie to Obama, and answers what was sure to be a question in Obama’s interviews tonight: If Geraldine Ferraro had to leave the Clinton campaign, why is Wright different.
i think the conservatives are overplaying their hands. obama has apologized, fired the guy and i’m satisfied…support obama!
Black people a new day is coming God has been good to us and he has brought us this far by faith. We have know other choice but to depend on him.

ANd HIllary is being SO DIRTY that people wont vot efor her ***** either..SHe diffenately isnt going to get the black vote. SO they way I see it its republicans again.
saying hillary is not the best candidate btween her and obama is the stupidity of america showing thru….the same stupidity that re elected george bush…and hillary is the only one that will beat mccain…i dont know where the intelligence in this country has gone but alot of the stupidity i mentioned is represented pretty well in this talkback. the 8 yrs that bill clinton were in office were the best 8 yrs this country has seen in my lifetime and im 37yrs old..sure if u believe the propaganda that the recession was leftover from the clinton era is just brain dead…u cant go from a surplus before bush gets elected to a deficit after hes elected , almost instantly…if obama gets the nomination its a guarantee that mccain wins the white house…yes its true..theres enuf rednecks in this country that will not elect a black man to president…i want hillary to win, shes been in the white house, was active in bills white house and im sure she has her own pair of *****s somewhere under those pantsuits…i think obamas a nice guy and knows how to speak, but i never heard of him from anywhere before he announced his candidacy and im sure most of america hasnt either…i even know who mccain is and i dont follow politics…and most americans will pick the name they know has been around instead of some new jack they dont know what will do in the whitehouse…i dont see obama being able to handle any crisis..i see him doin a “cant we all get along” routine with foreign policy…just my thoughts but if hillary dont get the nomination i think im not voting at all. just be another wasted vote like the last 2 for me….first one was robbed by bush and his brother and buddies in florida and the supreme court and in 2004 by all the retards that re-elected this scmuck…..go hillary !!!
hillary will not win…She single handed wrecked the democratic party with all the dirty tricks she pulled ahainst obama..the party is so DIVIDED…Mccain will win….I BET MONEY on it. THis was th REPUBLICAN startegy all along. DIVIDE AND RULE!!!
While we ***** and moan about this whole thing, the Indians and Chinese(holders of our debt–OUCH!!)are preparing to be our daddies. Yall better get off this ***** and get right quick.
Be afraid,be very afraid!!!!!!!
I love my America, but the writing is on the wall. Once we finish eating away at the middle east, we’re dead.
The Democrats are the biggest snake in the gr*****, racists, wolves in sheep’s clothing who ever lived. I am not surprised that Hillary voted against the civil rights act in the 1960’s. It was the Democrats who were pro-slavery in the first place. We need to break out the box and stop supporting this corrupt, sneaky party all the time. Join the Independents and the Republicans too, as someone wrote above. Yall know that in the 1960’s most Jews were left-wing Democrats and *****, but in the 1980’s they saw which way the wind was blowing and they switched sides, now you have just as many Jews in the Republican Party as in the Democratic Party. That’s the way to go, balance out our vote so these backstabbing Dems will stop taking us for granted. Enough with this crabs in the barrel thinking. Join these other parties and make the Dems sweat. We can change things by branching out but not by continuing to give the Dems our blinding support. Me personally, I’m an Independent and that’s what needed in our communities, more independent thought and action.
@ Clay
You are absolutely right.
@X
Maybe someone already said this and if so then im sorry but i got bored reading all the posts to check…the difference between Barack’s Pastor and Geraldine is that Barack didnt hire his Pastor to be a part of his committee and campaign, and then when these words did come out Barack didnt give some half *****ed excuse cover up about what Geraldine may have meant ie the clinton campaign…in fact Obama has outwardly said that he disagrees with a lot of what his Pastor says and believes in…u cant control a pastor and what he has to say since he isnt in the political arena…Barack shouldnt be held responsible for that…on the other hand when someone you HIRE says these types of things numerous times (see the Keith Oberman video) then more attention should be focused on that
Go Mccain !!! He will bring the white women vote out !!!
These white people are so jealous of him, it’s a shame. They are showing their true colors for sure. Finally, people are starting to dislike those phony Clintons. I had been trying to tell them all along, and I am only in my very early twenties. Some older people just couldn’t understand unless you throw it in their faces.
Hillary is “supposedly” a lesbian and she’s about to be “outed”. The National Enquirer has a story about Obama’s “supposedly” bisexual past.
McCain will win in a landslide…
I hope you dont get in the office and start tricking
That’s so happiness and wonderful.I just saw she is always dating in millonaire site”WealthyLoving.com”.I curious how long their love can last?
I wish the media would get out of this guys *****. They LOOVVVEEE Obama. I get it. But, I’ve gotten to the point now where I feel I have to read right wing media just to get an alternative view because the mainstream media (Oberman, Cooper, NBC, MSNBC, etc.) is just so heavily biased for Obama. The fact is, if Obama were behind and the race was as close as it is, there’s no one would be telling him to drop out. No one. Even earlier when Obama was behind in the delegate count, his supporters were using the same line that Clinton is using now – that the superdelegates should not be committed and should vote based on who has the best chances against McCain. Of course, now that Obama is ahead, they’ve changed their story and now say the superdelegates should vote for whoever is ahead. People are being so hypocritical. And, then to hear Obama flat out lie about not knowing about Rev Wright’s statements. For goodness sakes, his remarks were publicized all over the place years ago when the Rev made them because they were so controversial. Even I heard about them, and I live nowhere near Chicago. But, we’re expected to believe that Obama was just totally clueless. Right. Next, we’re going to be hearing how he didn’t realize his own wife had some of the views she did until just recently. Not to mention the fact that Wright’s sermon about Hillary (Hillary ain’t never been called a n**) was shown to black voters in South Carolina in order to drum up support for Obama (and this happened before Clinton’s Jesse Jackson statement), so they’ve been playing the race card all along behind the scenes. I voted for this guy in the primary, because I don’t want the Clintons in the White House again, and I’ll probably vote for him in the general (lesser of two evils, I guess, between him and McCain), but I just wish people would get out of his ***** and stop acting like he’s our lord and savior and can’t be criticized. He’s running for president. I say throw everything at him, and stop treating him he’s already been crowned king. He shouldn’t be treated any differently just because he’s black and people are afraid to appear racist.
Good news for Obama:
Obama Expands Delegate Lead Over Clinton
By MIKE GLOVER
*****ociated Press Writer
3:10 AM CDT, March 16, 2008
DES MOINES, Iowa
Democrat Barack Obama expanded his fragile lead in delegates over rival Hillary Rodham Clinton on Saturday, picking up nine delegates as Iowa activists took the next step in picking delegates to the national convention.
More than half the 14 delegates allocated to John Edwards on the basis of caucus night projections switched Saturday to Obama.
Iowa Democratic Party officials said that with all of the delegates picked, Obama claimed 52 percent of the delegates elected at county conventions on Saturday, compared with 32 percent for Clinton. Some of the delegates picked at Saturday’s conventions were sticking with Edwards, even though he’s dropped from the race since Iowa held its caucuses in January.
Democratic Party projections said the results mean Obama increased by nine the number of delegates he collects from the state, getting a total of 25 compared with 14 for Clinton and six for Edwards.
Twelve automatic delegates bring the state’s total to 57. Obama has been endorsed by four of those and Clinton three, with the remainder uncommitted.
Also Saturday, California’s Democratic Party finalized the delegate counts from its Feb. 5 primary. Clinton picked up two more pledged delegates, raising her state total to 204; Obama gained five, raising his figure to 166.
Counting Saturday’s new figures from Iowa and California, an *****ociated Press delegate tally showed Obama with 1,617 delegates and Clinton with 1,498.
Obama won Iowa’s precinct caucuses in January with 39 percent of the vote, with Edwards narrowly edging Clinton to finish second. Projections on caucus night showed Obama getting 16 delegates, compared with 15 for Clinton and 14 for Edwards.
“It means the Obama people are very organized,” said Iowa Democratic Chairman Scott Brennan. “They have been working very hard for these conventions.”
Brennan said turnout was heavy, with more than 13,000 activists showing up at conventions in the state’s 99 counties.
“Today, Iowa Democrats again turned out in large numbers to reject the failed Bush-McCain campaign and its policies,” said Brennan.
Edwards finished second in the state’s leadoff precinct caucuses on Jan. 3, but those caucuses are only the first step in a complicated process of picking the state’s 45 pledged delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August.
The next step in that process was Saturday with selection of delegates to congressional district and state conventions. Party officials said the results Saturday marked the election of 2,173 of the 2,500 delegates who will go to those convention.
The epic presidential race between Clinton and Obama has been reshaped since Iowa’s caucuses, but is no less intense with every delegate carrying weight.
“Every single one counts and that’s why we’ve been here organizing,” said Teresa Vilmain, a field organizer for Clinton.
“We’ve filled all of our slots,” said Gordon Fischer, a former Iowa Democratic chairman who is organizing for Obama.
Rob Tully, a Des Moines lawyer and prominent Edwards backer, sent an e-mail to supporters urging them to remain neutral, but there was clear movement to Obama when the results were tallied.
“Barack Obama stands for a lot of the same things that John Edwards stood for,” said Ro Foege, a state legislator from Mount Vernon who switched to the Obama camp.
The county conventions are traditionally sleepy gatherings where party leaders have trouble gathering a quorum to conduct business, largely because the party usually has a nominee by this point. With the race still up for grabs, activists jammed school gymnasiums, auditoriums and meeting halls across the state.
Former Gov. Tom Vilsack, a Clinton backer, spoke to more than 1,200 delegates jammed into a suburban high school gym.
“The reality is we are united on one thing today, we are Democrats, we are proud Democrats and we are going to elect a Democratic president,” said Vilsack, who dropped his own bid for the nomination even before the voting began. “Let us pledge that we will unite behind our nominee — be it he or she.”
HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL, DOESN’T NEGROES. YOU BETTER PRAY TO GOD THAT OBAMA WINS THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION. THE WAY YOU PEOPLE TURNED YOUR ON THE CLINTONS, DUE TO YOUR MIS-GUIDED AND RACIST LOYALTY TOWARDS THAT EMPTY SUIT OF A POLITICAL HACK OBAMA, YOU HAVE ALL BUT SEALED YOUR FATE BY THROWING ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET.
