Yes she might still have a young audience but, being in the entertainment field, I guarantee you her handlers are telling her not to cozy up to the youngish crowd too much. That’s a temporary market, at best.
Also, the way she dresses for her performances is ALL scripted by her brain trust. Its just part of the business and something you have to understand that you’re going to have to do to last in the business.
Not saying that EVERY female entertainer has to do this but it’s all about knowing your strengths and weaknesses.

In all honesty I thought she started off pretty well. But you could see that a little fatigue set in near the end and she struggled but overall she did alright. That song is indeed a bit of a challenge for her though.
Im gonna be honest. I was so excited when Umbrella came out and I was rockin that song everyday and loved her new sound and everything. I can honestly say that it wasn’t until Mandy Moore did the song that I actually knew what the words were saying and was like oh this song has a deeper meaning than I thought. Though I didn’t like Mandy Moore’s version, I appreciated the meaning of the song more cause I can clearly hear everything and it was just her and her guitar. I think some of the opposing arguments have gone completely over your heads. There’s more to fashion than business attire and Lingerie/BEDROOM attire. There are sexy jeans, skirts, dresses that can fit in a Formal attire, Casual attire, Sporting attire. Point is just cause some says conservative doesn’t mean put on a business suit. If someone says sexy that doesn’t mean to always put on lingerie or wear the least bit of clothes as possible. If that’s the case then you male/ female on expect to dress two different ways. So I’m guessing the right pair of jeans or shirt or dress is not considered sexy at all. There’s even a difference between cute, sexy, and plain skimpy shorts.

In the same way that you don’t let them listen to Fiddy’s new album or most rap albums for that matter. According to the insider, the platinum selling rapper and his R&B wife have hit a rough patch in their marriage. And word is that Kelis is staying with a friend.
The source told MediatakeOut.com, “Things aren’t good between them, it’s been that way for some time … Nas is staying in their New York apartment and [Kelis] is staying out in Los Angeles with [her close friend actress] Dania Ramirez.”

I understand the opposing argument. I’m giving you the argument from the ENTERTAINMENT perspective, and it’s all about the dollars & cents (I have a dual MBA/JD in entertainment/sports management…so this is what I do). The skimpy shorts (and note, this is only when she performs) is to maximize her majority audience appeal (middle-aged males). Market data has PROVEN that her dressing this way is gonna maximize ticket sales and record sales amongst her target audience (middle-aged males). By signing her contract, Rhi essentially agreed to be in the business of making money. She’s young, she can dress in those skimpy short shorts for the next 5 years and her main market audience will buy her show tickets/albums. But if she dresses in jeans or shirt or dress to attract that youngish crowd, they will be gone in a year or so, moved on to the next hot act…thereby minimizing her business worth.
So the business side is willing to sacrifice some of that temporary fan base (ie, young girls) in order to maximize their appeal to a fan base they feel will be more consistent in the long term.

Because unfortunately the business side of Rhi’s management is really not concerned about what the younger audience perceives. They know her look is inappropriate for the younger fan base but at the same time they realize that this same young fan base might not be there in another year or so and their concern is Rhi’s longevity. When it all boils down to it, if we don’t like what a performer sings/raps, or even what they have on, we don’t have to watch. There are a few artists that I don’t let my kids listen to or even watch performing. But that’s just me. We as parents have to be mindful of who we allow to be role models to our children. It’s not up to the artists to make sure they are being tasteful and respectful for our kids. It’s our job to protect our children from what we feel is inappropriate. I don’t like the outfit she has on (or the pose) but I don’t have to watch her either. We all (as adults) have control over the remotes to our televisions/radios…no one is forcing us to watch/listen to her.

I’ve just seen a lot of people blame performers, or should I say entertainers, for the way their child dress, talk, rap, sing or whatever the case may be. And most of these children are not able to buy anything for themselves (cd’s or clothes). The parent is the one buying them. One of my friends went as far as telling me that her daughter gets allowance and buys her own clothes and music. But like I told her, she shouldn’t have been able to bring it in the house. I don’t care who paid for it. There is an PlayStation 2 game that my son wanted. I can’t remember the name of it but it was about police chasing cars or whatever. I took him to go get it. We got home and he started playing it. I heard cursing. I went in his room and asked him what he was watching. He said it was his game. The game had naked women in it, people running from the cops, shooting at the cops, cursing and everything. Needless to say he was mad with me because I took him right on back to Game Stop and traded it for another one. From that point on, if I can view it first, he’s not getting it. That’s why I say, it’s left up to protect our kids from what we feel is inappropriate.

I never said that Mary Mariah Beyonce and Alicia were the ONLY talented ones out there. I said that they are all legends in the making and will all be remembered years from now. I like some of Ms. Badu’s songs but she won’t be a legend, I’m strictly talking about people who will be remembered years from now and that Rihanna will definitely not be one of them. Relax.
I really don’t think it’s fair to compare rhi to other strong vocals like mariah, mary j or patti or any other artist with powerhouse vocals, simply because she don’t present herself as such. Rhi is a pop artist more than anything, just like ciara britney,and yes even janet jackson!Those ladies don’t have strong vocals, but what they do have is presence, energy and fun catchy toons that ppl enjoy to dance to and have a good time.That’s the beauty of this industry, the versatility. Sometimes ppl don’t want to hear strong gospel like voices. If you go to a club especially a diverse club, 9 times out of 10 you would hear a rhianna or ciara or jlo or madonna song to dance off of, before you hear a alisha keys or mary j or patti song. Pop artist like them appeal to more diverse cultures and that’s where the money comes in because you have a broader audience base.Seriously you think ppl would be dancing off of patti or gladys knight!Bottom line is rhi is not known for her vocals exactly, but she has a presence and raw energy and fun flirty music that ppl like to dance to ex:please don’t stop the music! Even the grammy’s performance was sexy without being trashy. Beyonce has also performed numerous times on major awards shows such as the Oscars in gowns as well. Some people only try to focus on the negative. The truth is she can sing and perform in a classy way. Watch TBE and you will see nothing like this.
